Rob answered my call, remembered me immediately, and said he could do it. I drove over to his new location and he printed it in under 25 minutes! His prices are unbeatable--he only charged $10, while FastSigns quoted over $500. Years ago, he helped me print a different banner, showed me how to install the grommets, and gave me a grommet kit--six years later, I still remember how to do it! Rob is a wealth of knowledge, and his makerspace is all about helping people learn, create, and even having a platform and commuity support to start making money. If you've ever wanted to learn how to 3D print, use a laser engraver, CNC router, drill press, bandsaw, vinyl printer cutter, or any of his amazing machines--this is the place to join. Sign up for a membership, explore workshops, complete projects, and empower yourself. Whether it's for a banner, group, or business, check it out--you'll love the opportunities here!

Rob emailed me pictures of my part (which was very small) just a few hours after I sent him the request. He verified that it was the right size and that it looked appropriate and then had me pick up the next day. His communication was excellent. The part was ready when I arrived, along with a small printed cat which was very sweet. He was kind enough to give me a tour of the makerspace and told me the story of how he came to start the makers space. I really loved his mission and how he is clearly passionate about his work. After the tour he made it clear if I needed any changes or adjustments to the part, he was happy to help me. The part worked perfectly, and I was able to finish the repair within a day of it breaking, all thanks to Rob. I highly recommend his business, 3d printing is one of many other machines and services offered at his facility.

After college, and entering the working world, it felt like it was even harder to connect with others. That is why I was so pleased to have found CrashSpace. Everyone has been so nice and welcoming. I truly felt like I could be myself and be accepted. CrashSpace has a lot of tools and machines to work on your various projects. But more importantly, CrashSpace is a COMMUNITY of people from diverse backgrounds, disciplines, and experiences. I think the biggest asset has been the knowledge base that the whole community has and shares with each other. CrashSpace is volunteer run and you can tell that really passionate people invest their heart and soul into keeping this organization alive and thriving. CrashSpace is very active with regularly occurring weekly events, monthly meet-ups, and hands-on workshops. It seems like there is always something fun going on at CrashSpace. If you're an artist, maker, DIYer, designer, techie, programmer, cosplayer, tinkerer, engineer, educator, STEAM fan, I think you'll really like CrashSpace.

There was no clear leadership response or removal. Separately, I was invited by a member to an off‑site party connected to this community. After that event, I experienced sudden disorientation and memory loss inconsistent with my alcohol intake. I went to the hospital, was evaluated for head trauma (none found), and the attending physician concluded I was most likely drugged (e.g., roofied). What was most alarming was the response afterward. Rather than concern or accountability, multiple people connected to this group aggressively pushed a narrative that I "just got too drunk" or "hit my head," even after being informed of the medical evaluation stating otherwise. The takeaway was clear: when something serious happens, this community protects itself -- not women who are harmed. There is insufficient leadership, security, or safety protocol to protect members, especially femmes. If your personal safety matters to you at all, I would strongly recommend steering clear.

Check out the space's website at 032.LA to make sure members are there first. It's a just show up and do your own thing kind of lab. You can find people building a space antenna to building an amateur battle robot. I feel that their old DTLA location was more convenient for everyone to get to, but this newer location has more space which houses their machines and tools better. Tools from 3D printer, microscopes, laser cutter to drill press. Great space and would recommend any one with a geeky streak to check out. So legit that it has it's own technology and security conference in May. http://www.layerone.org

When I call on the phone, nothing happens; not even a ring (I have tried multiple times). The web site says that the open/closed sign in their home page indicates whether someone is there but it does not; it seems to be stuck on "Open". The Contact page in the web site does not work; nothing happens when I click the link. So I drove there, since the open/closed sign in the web site said they are open and I did not know that the sign does not work. At the front door the mail box is full of mail (on a Saturday evening) so no one is getting the mail. There are multiple package delivery attempt notifications on the front door. Those are the facts. My impression is that the club is in trouble from inactivity.
