Surprisingly fast service for a hotel restaurant and bar. Somehow a very busy Friday night (10 pm). We came after a show at the Synetic Theatre next door for a drink and simple bar snacks. The homemade potato chips with dip is surprisingly delicious. The waitress proactively refilled our lemonade without even asking (didn't need that much refill to be honest). Well, it's free at least. We initially worried they'd charge us double. Tight space and not the best ambiance, but it's a hotel restaurant doubling as a bar. Service was alright and efficient. read more

Stopped by for dessert and coffee after seeing a show at Synetic. The blueberry lemon cobbler was too lemony for my taste, but the coffee was okay. Unfortunately the service was subpar. Maybe it was the server's first night? She didn't know the menu yet and needed us to repeat every request. The dinner menu looks like it's got some great items, so maybe I'll give the restaurant another try in the future. And I'll go at a busier hour in case the more experienced workers are staffing the place at that hour. read more

So, maybe it's just me, but I don't see what all the negative fuss is about here. Yes, it's a bar inside a hotel, but that's not the end of the world. I came here for happy hour recently (having exhausted many other non-chain options in the area) and was pleasantly surprised. They have a very long and rather extensive happy hour menu. It lasts M-F 3:20-7:20 and includes a variety of $3 foods and $4 drinks. My fiance and i were able to have a snack and a few rounds rather cheaply. The atmosphere was pretty modern and standard for a hotel. There's the typical dark wood, dark metal, and glass decorations. It had a number of bar stools and two-tops as well as a few booths to sit in. Our waiter was very friendly but not as attentive as he could've been. We were left looking for him several times, including for the bill. Yes, it's easy and convenient. But not really a spot I'd take my out of town friends. read more

Small bar, lots of tables around the sides. Usually quiet. Vast majority of the crowd are hotel guests. Several TVs. Sometimes the service is great sometimes not. Sometimes dreadful. Good drinks although they don't carry Hendricks. Seven beers on tap plus a few standards in bottle. Not much of a single malt selection. It's a hotel bar at hotel prices. Beer and drink selections are limited. The ambiance is not bad. You can sit at the bar or have a server come to you near the bar. It's a bit cramped but there are outlets along the wall if you want to sit with your laptop. read more

Definitely should have read the reviews before we came here. Learned my lesson. Saw online that there were great happy hour specials, so clearly I was excited. They didn't have much seating, so we squeezed four of us into a small high top table. We ordered our drinks, which came out a bit slow, but nothing too out of the ordinary. We were trying to get to a show at a theater a block away, so we ordered our food fast, thinking we would have plenty of time. At least THIRTY minutes later, the food finally arrives, with the waitress not even surprised that it took so long. The food was mediocre (maybe it would have tasted better if I didn't have to scarf it down). The crab dip was actually pretty good, but came out a bit burnt. Staying at the Marriott and stopped in here for a quick bite at 8:30. I ordered the Fish and Chips and was pleasantly surprised. Quality cod deep fried to a perfect golden brown and very good fries to match. All for under 20$, I highly recommend this place if you're in the hotel. read more

The place was relatively empty for a Friday evening....My friends decided to grab something to eat before heading out for the night. Parking: OK Cleanliness: Good Ambience: Fair Service: Slow Drinks: Horrible Food: Boring There were two or three business types at the bar. Two other tables being waited on and our party of 3. The table we sat at wobbles and the quality of linen napkins were laughable.... they looked like dish rags...smh We order the garlic fries, crab fritters, chicken sliders and Chicken Cesar salad. Garlic fries were ok, fritters were surprisingly good (thus the two stars) 2 out 3 of the sliders were acceptable and please explain how in the world do you mess up a chicken Cesar salad?????? read more

This spot on the lobby floor inside the hotel seems to only have small fried bar food, such as, chips and onion dip, nachos with just melted cheese, garlic fries, chicken fingers, and a few others for I think $3? Which isn't bad at all. Decent selection of drinks. Also coffee and a few flavored lattes are available. A small selection of breakfast items as well. read more

As I was checking into the Marriott, I noticed the inviting restaurant/bar and decided to give it a go. I was terribly disappointed with the food and service. For starters, we ordered a bottle of wine 20 minutrs later. .....they are out of it. Then proceded to order a common mixed drink and they do not make it here. Roasted veggie dip aka hummus from frig with stale pita chips. Bland soups. Burnt pizza. Undercooked shrimp, but hey the sauted onions are great. Ventilation system sucks a man was at the bar with vinegar for his fish & chips. The smell was nauseating to one of us and caused us to get dessert to go! Eh. I was staying in the hotel and stopped in one night to get dessert. The bartender was really nice and helpful, but was overwhelmed and not attentive. It didn't seem like she had help and needed it. I ordered an apple dessert, and wasn't paying attention when a male server delivered it...and it turned out to be key lime pie, after I had taken a bite. The bartender realized the mistake and gave it to another guest down the bar before I could tell her I had already taken a bite. Thankfully, the other guest realized it. The same server brought my dessert, but set it on the back bar instead of handing it to me. By the time I got the bartender's attention to hand it to me, the ice cream was mostly melted. It was ok. Hor.Ren.Dous. Waited 10 minutes to even tell the host how many were in our party and then get seated. The host first assumed that everyone waiting in line to be seated was one large group. This was cleared up after we were asked the fourth or fifth time how many people were in our party. The only way I can see restaurant being this unconsciously bad is that because it's in a hotel in crystal city; they assume all of their guests are just passing through. My mother's food was cold and tasteless. She asked them to heat it up and the server returned with a bland congealed mess of awful oatmeal and melted fruit. I wouldn't force my worst enemy to go here. One of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. For now on I'll just risk the long wait for brunch in dc. Coffee was weak also. read more

Decided to try this place because it is on the first floor of the Marriott we were staying in. BIG MISTAKE! The place was clean enough, but that's the only thing good I can say about it!!! We waited so long to be seated, we were wondering if we should seat ourselves. We get seated, the server bring us menus and takes our drink order. 20 minutes later, he brought our drinks (tea, coke, sprite.....how hard can that be??). The menu choices left a lot to be desired. Beets, really? My grandma likes them, but as a dinner? Yuck! My husband got a salad and I didn't eat. It took almost 45 minutes for the food to be brought out. I had a great red and gold beet salad to begin, dotted with goat cheese and a nice vinaigrette. I followed that with grilled fish and roasted vegetables. My server Heather was very attentive and made me feel really welcome, something that doesn't always happen for female diners eating alone. I won't rag on the service too much (sort of slow) because I understand they just reopened after renovation and likely have a new staff but, the manager was very attentive in greeting the tables and explaining menu and drink items (a definite plus). The drinks were pretty good (local beers and reasonably strong mixed drinks). The food left something to be desired, but it is a hotel spot. All in all, this is a great happy hour spot for anyone who works or is staying in the area. But if you're looking for a fantastic restaurant, keep searching. read more

What a great place for Happy Hour! We stop by frequently after work for a drink and appetizers and we have recently seen HUGE improvements in the staff and the quality of the food. We love the Friday night bartender! What a great lady! The weekly staff is also very friendly and welcoming. The new manager has been a great addition to this place--definitely worth stopping by, even if you're not staying at the hotel. read more
