My wife and I went to Bella Ballroom to plan out our first dance. This was by far the part I was most nervous about, but Mallory and the Bella Ballroom team did an incredible job preparing us in just a few weeks (I think it was literally 2-3 weeks). They choreographed the whole thing, taught us a bunch of moves since we had never danced before, and helped us practice. The coolest thing is that they video'd us at the end of each lesson so we had something to look back at when we practiced at home. We hired Bella Ballroom for our wedding dance lessons- both bride and groom, as well as mother-son dance, a total of about 15 lessons. Mallory is literally the best dance instructor ever. She made every dance lesson so fun, enjoyable and efficient. At the first session we talked about what we wanted- lots of spinning and also some lifts. For the mother-son dance she was so perfect too and careful of my mother-in-law's back. On our wedding day, we were, of course, nervous but all of the dance lessons paid off because everyone thought our dance was amazing and we had fun too!! I do recommend going months before your wedding day so you have enough time to practice. We could not have been happier with our experience at Bella Ballroom. We decided if were going to do dance lessons for our first dance, we wanted it to be more challenging, so we chose the tango. Mallory guided us during our first complimentary lesson and made us feel confident we could learn the tango in just five lessons. Let me start by saying my husband and I are not dancers. By any means or stretch of the imagination. And Mallory was STILL able to surpass all of our hopes for what our first dance could be. Dips, lifts and all! She sat down with us before starting to make sure she understood our hopes and goals for what our first dance would feel like, identifying buzz words like powerful, uplifting, romantic, etc. the best part was that this dance still felt like us, despite not being dancers. She met us exactly where we were at. She broke down each step for us and even practiced with us to walk us through each step and movement. Half way through the process, our planner asked us to shorten the song, which she did seamlessly and made sure we adjusted to the change. Mallory is nothing short of a miracle worker, and she managed to make the whole process fun! It was nice to challenge ourselves and give ourselves a much needed date night in the middle of chaotic wedding planning. We will for sure be back to take more lessons with her in the near future. read more
