Well unfortunately my first-ever Yelp review is not going to be a positive one. My brother is getting married this fall and my future sister-in-law had her bridesmaids (11 of us) shop for our dresses at Bella Bridesmaids. I'll preface this review by saying the shopping/picking out our dresses process was wonderful. There is a huge selection of dresses, every girl was able to find a dress that she liked, and the sales people were very helpful. No complaints there.
My (huge) issue with this store was after I received my dress. I picked up my dress from the store, which I paid over $250 for, and went home pretty excited about it given how great our in-store experience was. As soon as I tried on the dress I noticed several issues. The dress was tugging awkwardly in several places, like it was sewn unevenly and much too quickly, and the boning in the bodice of the dress was off. Given the fact this is literally my only sibling's wedding, as well as the fact I spent $250 on a dress meant to be high-quality, I bought it back into the store to see what they could do to fix it.
I tried on the dress and spoke with a couple of saleswomen, both who agreed the dress was not up to standards and it did look like the sewing was uneven. One salesgirl mentioned she could even tell when I wasn't wearing the dress, and commented how they have had several issues with this designer (Hayley Paige) in the past. So I thought ok great, glad we're all on the same page and this is going to get fixed, still no complaints. They sent back my dress to the designer and told me they would give me updates after they heard back.
So it had been a couple of weeks and I followed-up mentioning that if the designer was unable to fix the dress, or if there was any other issues, we should definitely try to replace the dress as soon as possible. Once again, this is my only sibling's wedding and I obviously wanted to look good, and the wedding was about 7 weeks away. I received a response saying no worries, the designer had responded and was sending my dress next week and I could pick it up Tuesday.
Tuesday rolls around, I go to pick up my dress and the salesgirl essentially tried to shoo me out the door now that I had my fixed dress. Well by now I obviously I learned from the first time to try on the dress in the store, so I said no that's ok, let me just go try on my dress to make sure everything looks good. And oh god it DID NOT look good. The "fixed" dress made the issues I had with the dress prior look like a minor snag. The bodice had been resewn in such a way that the sweetheart top of my dress literally folded over showing the inside of the material. Material was bunched around the waist in an awkward fold. I mean honestly it just did not look good - the dress looked very cheap and it was just not something you would want to wear standing up in wedding, taking hundreds of pictures. And the salesgirls knew it.
As this is probably the longest Yelp review ever, I will get to the reason I am giving this store 1 star. Given the fact my overpriced dress looked awful, and everyone within a 15 foot vicinity could see it, I would expect a high-end boutique to make some sort of concession or offer some sort of alternative to help alleviate the situation. I was told "if the designer doesn't see an issue with the dress, there is nothing we can do about it". I have no issue spending a lot of money on clothing, probably have an issue with spending too much money on clothing, but never in my life would I spend almost $300 on a dress that was so substandard on quality. Any high end department store in the city would be appalled that a designer had provided them not once, but twice, with such a flawed dress. I am a very easy-going person but I could not believe that the salesgirls in the store could sit there and tell me "maybe just go get it tailored to try to get it fixed". At one point I looked at the girl helping me and said "I'm sorry but you cannot honestly tell me that the dress I am wearing right now is the same quality as the sample dress I tried on when I was ordering". She literally looked at me and had to walk away because she had nothing to say.
Oh, and finally I'll note that I didn't tell the Bride about the dress issue, because I didn't want to stress her out, but ironically enough I sat next to her sister at the shower who in confidence told me that her dress was also awful, with the exact same issues. And her other sister's dress was also awful. Like I said it's unfortunate that I have to sit here and slam this store but if you are going to sell a "high-quality" product you better match it with high-quality customer service. If your designer isn't up to scratch, then you make up for it and deal with them later. I cannot and will not ever recommend this store to any friend or colleague of mine. If you do shop at this store, I recommend you discuss with your salesperson their stance on quality and do not order a dress from Hayley Paige. read more
