I Found Marie back in 2008 in Auburn, Wa. Her and her staff are professional, considerate and do everything in their power to obtain most of the payment from the insurance carrier as opposed to your out of pocket. I moved back to New York City for a while and those dentists were horrible personally and professionally speaking. They had a completely different approach (poor approach) to prep a patient for a cleaning and had not a clue how to utilize the richness of your insurance to get payment from them....a benefit the patient is entitled to. However, all of them said that the work that was done by Durflinger was top notch and wanted to know who she was!!!! That being said....I'm so happy to be back in Washington. This place has great customer service. I used to be a pt. here. Everyone is really kind. My experience is over the years speaking only for the services they RECOMMEND. I got fillings done all the time from them. 60% of my mouth is fillings from them recommended. My last visit was "cavities everywhere. You need fillings everywhere." Didnt get what more I could do. Flossed every night properly, took care of my teeth really well. One day, i decided to get alternative opinions. I started working on the insurance end at a dental office. And that dentist laughed and said wow. Your teeth look great, you dont need added fillings at all nor do you have cavities. In addition, i saw them when i had jaw pain post wisdom teeth removal, they sent me to a root canal specialist with a wonking $200 bill in my mail only to test a tooth that had no shot of a root canal from other dental opinions with my xrays. Nor did it need a filling. I feel as if a dentist should be able to rule out things like that via pain. In conclusion: their services are good. But they do provide excessive services. Alot of unecessary work and recommendations. Empty out your pockets completely. As i get more into dentistry, they aren't attentive to financial difficulties. Human nature would be to not recommend excessive services for those not well off. Lastly. Fillings have to be maintained every X amount of years. So a lifetime of re-doing some unecessary fillings Sucks. It's costly. I'm sure a few were necessary, but not to the extent they recommended. Dentistry is the least monitored of any field. All about integrity. Not every filling needs to be drilled into instantly. Be smart with your choices. read more

When I walked into the office for the first time, I thought I was at a spa! Did not feel like I was at a dentist office at all. Everything was new and clean! I must admit, I did think I was getting my teeth checked out and cleaned in the same visit since they told me it was going to take an hour and that's what I was used to with previous dentists. But they only did x-rays, looked at my teeth and told me what needed to be done in following visits and that took up one hour. They did pull up all the x-rays on a monitor and showed me what the issues were and what needed to be done. Definitely helped me understand what I would be paying for and why. The next visit took about an hour and a half to clean one side of my mouth but that was mainly due to time spent getting 4 anesthesia shots and making sure my mouth was numb. Carmon made sure to get in there and really clean my teeth. Just don't expect that it's a one shot visit to get a check up and teeth cleaning done unless you have about 2-3 hours to spare. Overall, Carmon and Rima are very attentive, patient, caring and really takes the time to do their jobs well. They told me what needed to be done to my teeth and they checked my insurance to see what was going to be covered and what wasn't. They were very transparent about what costs I would need to pay out of pocket. read more

It was pure accident that I was referred to this place and I have never been this happy with a dentist. My specific care provider is Dr. Abifaker -- she is super attentive, very gentle, and cares about her patients! Patients are not just another source of income for these folks; she takes time out of her personal schedule to help advanced-issue patients out. I cannot express my appreciation enough! It occurred to me recently that I never ever think about my teeth or question whether or not I will keep them the rest of my life. Why is that? I guess I don't need to think about it because I have known Dr. Marie Durflinger for more than 40 years. Yes, long before she was the professional Dentist that has offices in the south end as well as the east side, she was my best friends' sister and she was going to be a Flight Attendant. I didn't know her well back in those days but was reintroduced when I got out of the US Air Force and started to attend college. That's when she was a Dental Hygienist and Doug told me about it back in 1986. Marie helped out a starving student and cleaned my teeth starting way back then. Several years later after I finished college and moved back over from WSU, I could afford to see a real dentist. I went straight back to Marie because she had become a dentist in those years. I continued to see her as I married, had children and started my own business with family. My oldest son is now attending WWU now and my other two boys are in middle school and high school. They have known no other dentist besides Marie. They are comfortable with her and the staff she chooses to hire. I am a very protective father and if I have it my way they will continue to see Marie as my wife and I will. I want them to worry about other things in life besides their teeth so they can feel as confident as I do about mine. Let them focus on what is really important...LIVING! In short, Thank you Marie for taking one of life's burdens off from me so I can focus on my family and career. A really long time ago I had a bad experience at the dentist...this is waaay in my rear view mirror and since then I have grown to love going to have my teeth cleaned. For years now I have been one of those "6 monthers" that cannot wait for my insurance to cover a cleaning. Although I've been in Seattle for two years now I was actually flying back to Sacramento to see my dentist. LOVE HIM! I think part of it was that he would tell me how BEAUTIFUL my teeth and smile are. Compliments? Yes, please!!! Well here comes this crazy economy and my pink slip. Oh no!! Trips home for hair appointments and dentist appointments...a thing of the past. But how am I going to find a new dentist? I figured I would just go somewhere in Belltown so I could walk home. Easy enough. I put this on my 'to do' list because I just did not want to find anyone new.... A few weeks go by and I had not bothered to find a dentist. I was at a party and I started chatting with a very pretty girl named Alisa. We were chatting about boys, etc. I thought she was very sweet but I could not help but notice her teeth were so BEAUTIFUL! I made a comment and she kind of laughed and told me she worked at Bella Dental for Dr Marie! Long story short.....can you tell I ramble??? I got Dr Marie's card that night - she was also at the party...what a super nice, approachable woman! I liked them both right away! I went to my first appointment. I will admit as I was driving there I thought...why the heck am I driving out to Bellevue?? I even thought about turning around and flaking out (I can't believe I just admitted that!). But once I got there I remembered....they are so NICE! I walked in and Sherry (Cherie?) greeted me...super sweet lady! We chit chatted for a minute and Alisa came right out and grabbed me for my cleaning. No big waiting - always a good sign. My x-rays were a new experience at Bella Dental. Everything in this office is NEW. The x-rays are all digital so they pop up on a big screen right in front of you. They can see WAAAY more than you used to be able to with the tiny shots of your teeth/gums. So here's the good and bad....and really, it's all good.... for the first time in a long time I was told that I needed some work. Uh oh!!! Before I could even begin to think they just wanted to get a little extra money from me and my insurance company - Dr Marie showed me both on the xrays and in my mouth what needed help. How cool! She really took the time to explain what I needed and how they could help me. They even have this device than can detect if there is decay UNDERNEATH a filling. I had a very old filling in a back molar that my dentist back home had been telling me I needed to update but it wasn't until Alisa and Dr Marie found there was decay under that filling....which (in case you need the breakdown like I did) meant if I did not fix, would eventually hit my roots and necessitate a root canal (ouch ouch, pain, and even more $$). Basically, they saved my tooth!!!! HOORAY!! How cool is that?? I came back a few days later to start the work I needed...I was nervous as hell - remember I had a less than fabulous experience as a child. Again, they really did calm me down. Alisa did an amazing job getting me all numb - it really was 'just a pinch' and not painful. I found out later they made a judgement call and gave me a little extra medication for the pain - THANK YOU! I really did feel nothing. I do recommend bringing your own headphones and music because it helped me to drown out the noise of the drill. Dr Marie took the time to discuss my needs, all of the staff made me feel comfortable, it was very clean, all new technology used, all of my billing was explained on the front end so there were no surprises. Please beware of this place. In my opinion, this place is a scam. They would do anything to squeeze out insurance money. I moved to Bellevue from another city and was looking for a dentist to go to for cleaning and came across Bella Dental Care. I went there for regular cleaning and I was shocked at what the hygienist did. For good 30 mins, she took x-rays and for the remaining 15, she scratched the surface of my front two teeth, and ended the cleaning with electrical brush. The doctor came in afterwards and made it look like I had problem areas which I need to take care of and booked me another appointment. I had never heard any concerns from my previous dentists about my teeth. Luckily I was able to share my cleaning experience with my friend (who is also a dentist) and she offered to look at my x-rays for second opinion. It turned out that there was no need for fillings that Dr. Durlinger mentioned during her check up. But just to be sure, I called my previous dentist to see if they could tell me from the x-rays they had on file (3 months old) and my previous dentist confirmed that no such work is needed. I immediately called Bella Dental and cancelled all my future appointments. I would recommend people to stay away from Drs who are hungry for profit and would overlook what's best for their patients. read more

My crown popped out and someone recommended Bella Dental. They were able to see me the next afternoon. The staff was nice, but instead of checking out my mouth and replacing the crown, they took a full set of x-Rays...I forgot to mention I received the crown less than 6 months ago from my dentist (out of state) and my dentist emailed the X-ray of that tooth to Bella Dental. Dr. Rima performed an oral exam...you know, the poking down the side of your gums to measure for periodontal disease. The measurements/numbers had doubled in less than 8 months and she mentioned I needed to replace a filling...which was just replaced last year. Needless to say, after they checked my insurance they provided me a treatment plan that was just within my insurance limits for the year. A procedure that took less than 15 mins, took 2 hours out of my day. I appreciate the due diligence, but it should be at the request of the patient or offered, not just performed because you have insurance. Proceed with caution...I will not visit Bella Dental again. read more
