Nice place with good service. A few options for vegetarians -- I had the the fried artichoke appetizer (delicious) and the mushroom rigatoni (good). Skipped the draft cocktails and stuck with wine. I'd recommend making a reservation at least a week in advance -- I could only get a very early or later slot for Friday night when making the res on a Monday. Even with our late reservation, we had to wait an additional 20 minutes to be seated -- staff was super apologetic but it's not their fault the place was bustling and people were lingering at their tables. read more

We were longtime patrons of Sullivans in Maryville and sad to learn of them closing awhile back. While looking for an impromptu dinner spot, we chanced about Bella's, which turned out to be in the former Sullivans location! We hoped that the food could match what was offered before, and it did not disappoint! We had absolutely wonderful focaccia with olive oil and baked garlic gloves, followed by excellent batter fried artichokes with sublime aioli and a stunning cheese penne made from the inside of a hollowed round of aromatic cheese enhanced by liquor and scrapings from inside the cheese wheel. The staff is excellent, very low keyed and knowledgeable...all in all multiple reasons to recommend this place wholeheartedly! Went there for the first time on Wednesday. Beautiful, ambient restaurant with wonderful food. We had Calamari and Fried Artichoke to start. Delicious and well presented. Our guest had the Nicoise Tuna Salad and thoroughly enjoyed that. I had the salmon which was tasty and cooked perfectly. My honey enjoyed the shrimp dish which was amazing. The restaurant is quite large with some seating outdoors for when the weather is good. It is nicely decorated, and I liked the fact that it was fairly quiet and you could actually have a nice conversation without competing with lots of noise. Our waitress was very nice and seemed to know the menu quite well. The Grilled Focaccia Bread service wasn't grilled at all!! It was ok, but we didn't love it. The smell & taste of true Italian bread was missing and it was a bit on the dry side. We didn't eat much of it, which was a shame because the pesto and roasted garlic was good, but alas, it was left on the plate with the flavorless bread!! Everyone did enjoy the Roman style Artichokes which were breaded and fried. I also enjoyed the Beet salad that had a blend of nice textures & flavors. The Wild Mushroom Rigatoni was delicious and the flavors spot on! My husband had the Eggplant parmesan which was two eggplant cutlets breaded and fried and served over a plate of Penne Pasta. That was delicious as well! It is a bit on the pricey side but if you are looking for a nice place to eat for a special occasion - well - I think this place would be a great choice. Our table wasn't quite ready when we got there, so we sat at the bar. It took them a minute to get to us, there, too, and I started to worry a little about the rest of the night. It was my last worry. We were sat as soon as we got our drinks. The focaccia was excellent (so many places around Knoxville have really dense focaccia. Bella's is light/airy). Our server was so good that when we asked where Bella bought their glasses, he went and found out, wrote the company's name down, and gave it to us. Our main dishes were excellent, too. Started with the calamari app, which was good. Wife opted for some mushroom pasta dish which she claimed was one of the best pasta dishes she's ever had. I went with the special of the day, Shrimp Puttanesca. Came with several large shrimps, capers, basil and a nice pasta. For cocktails, wife got some fig and bourbon concoction which put her is a good mood. I went with a non alcoholic cucumber thing. Not typically of my style, but it was pretty good. Even though we were stuffed, we tried both versions of Italian cream cakes (one was a daily special.) both were delish. Portions of everything were huge. Little things kept this experience from a five star: plastic pepper mill grinder, slow finished dish removal. Perhaps a bit bit-picky as everything else was fine. One of the best meals I've had in 2022! The staff was incredibly accommodating with a last minute reservation. The service was incredible and very attentive, and the recommendations did not disappoint! I thoroughly enjoyed the Gorgonzola Fillet as my main course, my wife had the Salmon Filet. The table side pasta wheel was an amazing experience, and well worth adding as a side item. Finally, the Italian Donuts for a refreshing dessert, accompanied by one of the best black coffees I've had in a long time. Yes, we ate all that food. We came to celebrate our 5 year anniversary, and hadn't been in over a year. I was looking forward to it all week, however, it was a let down. we ordered the pasta service but were informed upon being served that they had a different type of cheese due to product issues. it wasn't very good.. it tasted of strong liquor, as if it hadn't been cooked off well enough. Great Southern Italian style red sauce dinners. My orecchiette came with half a burrata ball and three delicious meatballs. I'm betting they mix pork and beef just like nana made 'em. The portions are huge! I ate my leftovers for two more dinners. The room is very nicely decorated with unique wooden lighting fixtures and high-backed round booths adding some privacy. The bar is well stocked with some rarer whiskeys and a knowledgeable bartended. The wine list is fairly long with nice selections at all price levels. The wait staff was very professional. Our party of four enjoyed a nice dinner at Bella on Friday night. In general, there wasn't anything particularly exceptional about Bella - it was all just.....fine. The menu lacks a bit of personality and focus - the options were all over the place in terms of cuisine style, so much so that it made it difficult to make a choice. I split the Harvest Salad with one other at our table, and the server was kind enough to have it plated in two separate bowls for us. We each also ordered the mussels as our main meal even though it's listed as a starter. The mussels were actually quite good - tender and plump, and a nice savory broth. They're served with a fluffy hunk of focaccia - the bread was fine, I just prefer a crusty bread with mussels. One person at our table ordered a ribeye steak and he really enjoyed it. The fourth person ordered the herb roasted chicken and although he said it tasted fine, I'm here to tell ya - that bird was not roasted. It sure looked like it was dropped in a fryer. Friday, March 8 , we had a reservation for a party is six at 6 o'clock at Bella. We arrived a few minutes before six and we seated promptly. We had not had a server take our drink order for at least 15 minutes and about 6:35 we still had not received our first drink the server stated the bar was backed up. The manager came over and said they're working on it. We should have them very soon. We then had our first drink, then we ordered three appetizers which were good. Ordered another round drink and are entrees. After our meal or server asked if we would like dessert or another round of drinks and we decided we could not definitely not have dessert but a few people ordered another drink at this point it still took long to get those drinks. After recieving those drinks we asked for our checks. asked for the check and it was about 8:20pm. The manager came over to the table and said I'm sorry I'm gonna have to ask you all to leave. We do seating in two hour increments and your 20 minutes over your two hours And I said you know it took us a half an hour to get our first drink and I Never heard you had a two hour time. She apologized and said that the party has been waiting 20 minutes for our table. We hadn't even signed our check nor finished that round of drinks but was told we had to leave. I never heard of that. I went on your website. Never saw anything about a two hour seating. There were six of us. I know we spent close to $400 or more and we all were shocked. All six of us looked at each other and said of all the restaurants we've eaten at in all the years we been eating out (we are all about 55-60yr old. ) have never been asked to leave a restaurant because somebody was waiting for our table. We waited for a special occasion to try out the latest addition to our local fare. We made a reservation so the wait was only about ten minutes. Even though we spotted other empty tables, we somehow ended up being seated at the dreaded swinging kitchen door table. The host gave us menus that needed to be wiped down- my kids even noticed this. We waited several minutes for our server to appear. She was very friendly even though she never told us her name. The menu was pretty straight forward, slightly more than basic but certainly not overwhelming. We ordered a couple of appetizers which were delivered promptly. Calamari and truffle fries were solid. As I mentioned, our server was friendly but I began to notice the gap between her visits. Since we were facing the kitchen door and could not see if she was very busy or not, I'll give her some slack-but we did notice. While the menu was a bit smaller than I expected, it covered the bases and I thought the pricing looked reasonable. We had a cheese/pasta dish prepared at the table (2 order min) This would have been pretty cool if we had known what the guy preparing the dish was doing while he was doing it. The dish was tasty but they missed out on the presentation opportunity. The entrees, as a whole were pretty solid as well. My 8 oz filet was cooked just right and the pasta dishes were good. The panini was more of a grilled sandwich than panini but it wasn't bad. We had an excellent gelato for desert along with the classic zeppole (fluffy donut holes) with raspberry and cream sauce. I recommend these two together. Overall, the food was good (solid) but not great. I expected a bigger menu but no complaint for that. Value; also good but not great. My sore points; we made a reservation only to be sat in front of the kitchen door (which we still had to wait for). Dirty menus. The time between when we sat down and first saw our server. 2.5 hours for dinner for 4 people. This latter issue may simply be a result of lack of staff and if they had communicated that with us, I could understand but, they did not. As a local, we want these places to survive. They must step up their service and communication to keep the potential clientele from going elsewhere. read more

I met some friends here for lunch last week with our kids. The place is absolutely beautiful on the inside; this would make a great date night. The bourbon menu was very impressive but sadly it wasn't that kind of lunch. We ordered the meatballs and then a few different entrees and everything was outstanding (especially my salad). My wife and had a five star brunch here about a month ago. Tonight we returned for dinner and had another five star follow up. The service is excellent, the atmosphere is just high-end beautiful and sophisticated. I had the house white wine, which I thought was delightfully tasty. We tried the fried calamari appetizer. I'm not a big fan of it, usually, but this was among the best I've had. It has a light tangy sauce in the bottom of the dish that really enhances the flavor. I had the wild mushroom rigatoni in a cream sauce. It was outstanding! A good size portion as well. (I took some home.). My wife enjoyed the shrimp with penne in a different cream sauce. She thought her dish superb. I just don't think there's anyway you cannot be satisfied here. We look forward to many returns. read more
