Again disapointed the massage and scrub short didnt do my feet. I came for my mum but not a place I would come back too if I had a choice. They were retaliated when someone took over to clean up the mess the other girl did. This case no exuse it seems to be a pattern . I give them credit for servicing the elderly living home across the street but dont aspect a thing special from this place read more

I'm torn about Bella. My initial reaction was to give them four stars but upon completion of my mani/pedi I had to make it three, sorry ladies. The salon is brand-new and sparkling clean. The nail techs are incredibly sweet and accommodating but seem to lack an essential four-star necessity, which is time. My service seemed rushed, at least in the manicure part. I'm not sure if it's the close proximity of the next massage chair or the way the planets had aligned that day but my manicure was mediocre. My pedicure was great, not too much cutting of things or slapping of my extremities, just a nice massage and good polish job. I had used a Living Social deal that gave me a $60 service for $30. The actual value of this mani/pedi was closer to $30 so I'm not sure I'd EVER return if the price were truly $60. I will return for more making of pretty paws, I'll just keep my hands to myself. read more

On the plus side, even without a reservation we were able to get a nice spot in the back in a private room, and that felt very fortunate and luxurious to be ushered into a private space as a party of two. We were staying in Ballard, so not close to my favorite regular spots on the other side (NE) of Seattle. The salon was clean: walls full of newer pedicure chairs, polish and crumbled (but current) magazines. On the other hand, I was misquoted prices at the front desk, and by quite a bit. Later when checking out, when my service cost far more than what was quoted, I pointed it out and was told the employee I spoke to "didn't know what he was talking about." Okay. Now, I could see clearly when they then showed me pricing on the wall that what I had been told earlier was wrong, but I do think the business has some responsibility when the employee on duty gives a customer clear pricing guidance that turns out to be erroneous, they have some responsibility to make it right. Overall, prices are high comparatively with pedis at $30 and gel manicures at $40 so a little higher than average around town. The technician I had was trying to make my toes move into some impossible positions there (um, they actually don't bend up, ouch!) I should point out the next salon I went to in San Francisco stopped me mid pedicure to point out they were concerned about the quality of the pedicure I had received (apparently Bella overdid the trimming on the sides of my toenail.) The new salon said they were very sorry, but someone at the last salon (Bella) had basically butchered the toenail, and damaged it and the only real remedy would be to let it grow out. Yikes. read more

Are you kidding? Was kept waiting for over 20 minutes with not a word said. Water was HOT and it was a few minutes before anyone noticed and asked me why my feet weren't in the water. She was totally not paying the least bit of attention - told her the scrub was a little rough. She smiled, nodded and kept on going. I think she took the first layer of skin off of my legs. Next, she spent most of her time, talking to her colleague and not focusing a bit on me - had parafin wax all over my feet (and as a little bonus - up to my knees in a few cases). That was just the pedicure. The massage during my manicure, was in a word, painful. My nails were filed unevenly and there were bubbles in my polish. Needless to say, I will NOT be back. Worst living social money spent in a LONG time. read more

I was really looking forward to getting a manicure and a pedicure at this cute nail salon down the street from my apartment. Everything was going great until the lady started scrubbing the side of my foot with a coarse sponge. She is only supposed to scrub the bottom of your foot to wear down the calluses - but she started scrubbing the side of my foot. I told her twice that it hurt and she kept rubbing away. Finally I pulled away because I knew she had broke skin. (I posted a photo to show the scab that formed the following day.) After she realizes what had happened, she tries to tell me to put my open wound back into the dirty water. Then proceeds to try and use an exfoliating scrub all over my foot and on my cut. At this point - I pull my foot away. After she continued to scrub the side of my foot (you'll clearly see in the photo that she was NOT scrubbing where calluses form) She later claimed she did not know I had such "thin skin". I don't have thin skin - you were scrubbing the soft part of my foot. Long story short - they threw on a bandaid and I sat terrified throughout the rest of my time there. The lady who did my manicure was wonderful but I definitely won't be back. I will also share that they only charged me for my manicure - so they were trying to make it right. I was feeling like being pampered one day, and I missed the excellent mani/pedis from home. So I typed "salt scrub" into my Yelp search box, and Bella Nails appeared. For someone who lives in Ballard, I haven't spent a lot of time exploring new places, so this was a great find! Located right on Market St., this place is easy to get to and find parking. The inside is spotlessly clean and is half hair salon and half nail salon. Even on a busy Saturday afternoon, I was able to be seated immediately for a spa manicure/pedicure. The ladies were super nice and accommodating, and I was very relaxed. I did, indeed, get my salt scrub as part of the spa pedicure, which was nice. They even used a hot stone treatment, which felt amazing. I noticed that the ladies next to me got a "herbal pedicure," which included paraffin wax treatment (which I love), so I will have to ask for that next time. Overall, totally worth the $42 I ended up spending for quick service on a Saturday. I will definitely be back. read more

I love Bella's, my neighborhood nail place. I have been a customer ever since I moved to Ballard. The staff are wonderful and the owner, Amy, is great. When I lost my husband last year, who was also a customer, she was very kind and even sent me flowers. Above and beyond I would say. I wouldn't go anywhere else for my nails!! read more

I had a pedicure here this weekend when my preferred nail spa in Ballard (HOA) was too busy to get me in. The staff at Bella Nails and Spa were very nice. It is winter time and after a short wait, drying drops, and cuticle oil, I was able to slip my socks and boots back on and go about my day. My only complaint is that I can see that the polish is more or less opaque on certain nails than others in the light. I would come back to Bella Nails and Spa in a pinch but it would not be my preferred nail salon. read more

Came in for the first time for a pedicure & shellac manicure. The salon is big & all the tools/equipment looked very clean. The pedicure seemed a little rushed but she did a good job & I enjoyed the hot stone massage a lot. I think the prices are a little expensive ($30), I could get a cheaper pedicure elsewhere with the same quality. I would come back here for a manicure solely b/c they can do a beautiful chevron nail design with shellac. The lady seemed a little annoyed when I asked her for this though & it was $10 extra, total $45. I have definitely gotten cheaper shellac but not with a difficult design like this. I had a friend with me & they only charged her $20 for shellac. Not sure why mine was $25 more???? We had already left when I found this out so I didn't go back to ask. Overall the experience was slightly better than average. I think the staff could be friendlier & slow down a bit & the prices are on the expensive side but they did a really good job. read more

I have been coming to Bella nails for years now. Even when I have lived out of the city I always make time to come here. They are always so helpful and have taken great care of my nails. I don't have one specific person because every time I have come it has been amazing! I had to add a photo this time cause I'm so happy with them. Mind you I went from square round OPI Red to this almond shaped bubble bath color gel from OPI. They are my natural nail. read more

If I could give them a 0 I would. The establishment and the male "owner" are racist. When I first walked in I was never greeted by the staff, I had to ask for help. As I watched their interaction with a male getting a pedicure I was stunned at the service he was receiving; he was offered beverages and had 2 nail techs at his services. When asked about pricing I got an aggressive answer back from the staff. When I requested to see the price list I was told they don't have a copy of it in the store and to look online. Of course they didn't have a website with price listings. One of the ladies then rudely handed over what they called an "old price list to look at". During the process of removing my gel manicure the nail technician cut me pretty deep then proceeded to apply nail glue on my wound!! She was not remorseful what so ever! I requested she stop and I asked to speak to the owner. They then called their owner who was completely useless. The owners response was "I see the camera footage and I don't think my staff treated you poorly and to get out of his nail shop". I happily walked out with a bleeding finger and my nails looking crazy! Also, I witnessed a black kid requesting a pedicure and they said they didn't have anyone to do it...which was complete BS! My sister also had a horrible encounter with them and tried to convince me to not go but I thought I'd give it chance. The worse experience I have ever had at any establishment! DO NOT GO!! read more

I get my nails done consistently and have been to a bunch of salons around the city, and Bella is the best by far. I do acrylic fills and pedicures and they are always friendly and experts at all of it. I see Wendy every time I go now--she is the queen of nails. She's so thorough and detail oriented. I requested a pedicure and end it up with just a foot wash and was asked to pay regular price with no discounts the only option was to have it done again in order to get my nails clippe... very disappointed in this place. read more

I recently move to the Ballard area for a job from the East side of the state. I am not used to paying for parking. The first thing that attracted me to Bella's was the way they explained the parking circumstance made their website, explaining the best way to find free parking. I called and made an appointment, I highly recommended making an appointment they do get very busy. I arrived for my appointment they were very friendly and respectful. I have Cerebral Palsy, so doing my nails can be challenging at times as I were the gel dip tips, however my nail tech was very patient with me and did not rush through. I came here because I was looking for someplace affordable that could get me in on the same day. Easy to book an appointment over the phone and Amy was the one who ended up doing my nails. I got a full set with gel and these are my favorite nails I've had! I don't get them done often, so it's always a treat to try new places. I wish there had been more friendly conversation -- she made sure I liked the length, color, shape, etc. at every step, but there was no conversation beyond that. However they were very welcoming and I'm happy with the outcome! I will likely return in the future. read more

I am not a regular and was greeted as if I was. I asked how long , they said 10 minutes, It was 10 mins. Jessica was very helpful in picking out the right color, also engaging and quick. Check out was professional. The only way the rating would go down is how good the application or durability of my nails with normal day wear and tear. So for so good. The way the stars go up is after my next appointment when I add in a pedicure. read more

This establishment doesn't even deserve the 1 star I'm required to add. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!!! NEVER! NEVER! NEVER! LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS! THEY ARE THE TRUTH!!! This is the WORST nail salon I have ever been to in all my life! I am baffled this establishment has the rating is does. It is so bad, I wish I had the time to make multiple Yelp accounts just to write as many bad reviews as possible in order to lower their rating. My girlfriend and I walked in to get manicures and pedicures for her wedding, so quality service was expected. However, we were disgusted by the lack of service we were given. I was charged $97.00 for a 10-15 min pedicure and a manicure. $97.00, y'all!!! The nail lady I usually go to would laugh at that price! What I came in asking for was a pedicure and full set with acrylics. We were never asked what kind of pedicure we wanted ("spa" pedicure, regular pedicure, etc.), and from my experience, when you aren't asked, they usually give you the most expensive pedicure just to get as much money out of you as possible (typical Asians --- I am Asian, so it's okay I add that remark lol). I was willing to pay top price for quality service because of the occasion, so if you want to charge me for a service without asking for my approval first, fine, but at least give me what is included in that service. Instead, both our pedicures lasted no more than 15 minutes. First, the water was scalding hot. Neither of us received a paraffin wrap, massage, exfoliation...the usual services that are included with the most expensive pedicure. My toenails were clipped, painted, and a lukewarm towel was placed on my legs for about 1 minute. Then, we were quickly rushed over to our tables for the manicures. I said the word "acrylic" about 4 times during my time in the salon. I was even asked if I wanted acrylics at least twice...I'm assuming to confirm exactly what service I wanted. First, I had to sit and wait for 10 minutes until my nail lady showed up while my friend was already getting her nails done. Once my nail lady and I exchanged pictures of what look I was going for, I assumed she knew I wanted exactly what I had been repeating - acrylic nails, coffin shaped, french tip ombre. The first thing she does is file one of my real nails down to a coffin shape, then she showed me. I said, "Yes, that is the shape I want, but I want acrylics." She replied, "Yes, but I have to file your real nail down first before I add the acrylics." I questioned that in my head because I've had acrylics done a hundred times in my life. I have never had my real nails filed in the shape I want the acrylics to be. Instead, my real nails are always cut down short. But, I just let her continue because I figured she knew what she was doing...as long as I was getting acrylics, it didn't matter what her process was. My friend and I were so engaged with each other I was hardly paying attention to my nails, so by the time they were almost finished, my friend made the comment of the acrylics, and my nail lady said, "Oh, your real nail under there..." I asked her if my nails were acrylics, and she repeated, "Your real nail under there..." I didn't understand, but after we left, I realized she never put acrylics on me, and it was obvious when I looked at the back of my nails there were no acrylics on top of my real nails. Why the f*** was I charged $97.00?!!! I know how the pricing goes. Acrylics (full set) are more expensive than a regular manicure. So, since acrylics were never applied, why was I not charged for a regular manicure? Now, my real nails have been filed into the shape of a coffin, so I'm going to have to wait so long before my nails grow back out into their regular shape, the skin surrounding my nails are all cut up because of the over filing she did to make my nails coffin shaped, and I have the acrylic powder applied to my regular nails, which will ruin my real nails so much! She didn't even start applying the acrylic powder down to my cuticle (I did observe and question why she was doing that), so it looks like my nails are already grown out a bit. I am appalled and wonder where these women received training to provide these services, or even if training was ever a requirement! Thank God I chose not to tip at the last minute, and that was only because my original tip was not accepted after I entered it into the tablet/iPad. I deserve a refund, but after reading several poor reviews, I gather that will be impossible to receive. So, I am hoping people take the time to read this long review (so sorry) and NEVER step foot in this awful establishment. I am so surprised to read some of these high-rated reviews, by the way. How lucky are you to have received the service we all should have received! read more

Eh, there's a couple of things I don't like about this place and one thing I do. Wendy is great. She takes her time and shows extra care. The other girls could seem to care less. It's supposed to be a relaxing atmosphere. Yeah try relaxing with the technicians constantly yapping, and laughing the entire time. Would it kill ya to stop talking for 5 minutes? Also my last manicurist rushed through the job and was so careless she literally spilled a quarter bottle of nail polish on my pants and goes "oh it's only topcoat". Yeah those pants are ruined. Screw this place. read more

hard to understand how a simple eye brow wax could be so bad. I mean really. l literally had only a half an eye brow left on one side and something totally misshapen on the other. Two patches of ripped off skin as well. I said I was unhappy and was ignored--I mean completely ignored. This place came highly recommended, but I think I will pass in the future. if you want client service, this is not the place. read more

I've been going to Bella nails for 4 years, coming in about every 3 weeks. If you're looking for dip nails, Wendy is your gal. Amy who runs everything is also great and very nice. I am putting 2 stars for each of them. When I went in yesterday, I had someone I've never had before, GiGi, who I could tell didn't really know how to give a good pedicure. I was kind to her, and had to tell her a few times to cut my nails more, etc., and felt like I had to keep an eye on what she was doing. Where things went terrible wrong is I told them I only had 45 more minutes. When we were at 50 minutes, I looked down and she had painted my feet different colors. One set of toes had the burnt orange I had picked out. The other set of toes had the shiny orange. I thought something looked off while she was doing it, but was told several times, "it was just the light." I was ignored. Then, when she was finished, I said again it was 2 different colors. She agreed and laughed. The other women working there also looked over and just shrugged. Daisy who did my nails, offered to fix it. No idea where Gigi went. She just walked out. At that point, I was already 10 min late and didn't have time to fix it. So here I am with 2 different sets of colors on my toes. Not sure how that was missed while she was painting my toes. At checkout, I told Daisy I would pay for the manicure, but I wasn't going to pay for the pedicure. She told me I had to pay. I then asked if she could at least give me a discount? I've literally been coming here for 4+ years and have never said one bad thing, and this is how I'm treated? Where is the customer service? I think if they would have apologized and offered to give me a discount or felt bad whatsoever I wouldn't be writing this review. But I had to ask for it, twice. They didn't care at all there service they provided was bad. If you're looking for somewhere that cares about their customers, this isn't it. read more

I was very clear before starting that the last time her twin colored my hair, I liked the shade and wanted it lighter or the same -- absolutely not darker. At the salon, when my hair was washed, I asked her if it looked dark. She said it was totally fine. I assumed the salon lighting or my eyesight might be misleading me. I didn't even ask for a blow-dry -- just a simple curl product -- but she spent less than a minute on it, which felt careless. Another red flag was that I asked her to color my eyebrows, yet at the end I noticed multiple color stains left on my face. She didn't mention them; I had to point them out myself and remove them. At the time, these issues were frustrating but manageable. The real problem became clear after I got home and washed my hair several times. My hair color is much darker than requested, and it's obvious the color was ruined. Looking back, I now believe she noticed the darkening issue but didn't acknowledge it. Fixing hair that's been colored too dark is not easy, and now I'm left dealing with the consequences of her mistake. Overall, this was a careless and unprofessional experience, and I would not recommend her for hair coloring.

They told me there was an appointment at 10am already scheduled. I come here at 10:45am, it's closed. And now it is 11am. No one there. Kind of not cool. Was looking forward to donating my hair. I didn't receive an email or phone cancelation either. I confirmed my appointment in the email as well. My advice, if you can't show up, call me or email me. Also, it's especially not cool when it's a hair donation for a kid. I understand life happens, but I drove 1 hr for this. The least you can do is inform me of a cancelation. Also, just to add, I was also getting charged for the cut too. So the stylist was suppose to get paid/tipped.

I had not known that otherwise I would have rejected the appointment. My hair lifts easily, and Haley noted that. Despite that, she used too strong a developer and damaged my hair beyond belief. Not only that. She missed half of my head with toner. She noticed. And didn't tell me. She let me leave the salon with half of my head not toned. It's very noticeable from the back. I didn't see it at the appointment because she didn't show me the back - and now I know why. That's the worst of it, but she also didn't rinse my hair properly, so I still had product dried up and crusty in my hair. And she barely used any product while she blew out my hair on the highest heat, burning my scalp a couple of times and damaging my hair even more. And it was still a bit wet by the time I left. I'm usually pretty relaxed, so I didn't complain until after I went home and noticed that my head wasn't properly toned (which is also not that hard to do, I've done it myself during covid lockdowns - so it really is incredible that she messed up this bad and didn't say anything, hoping I wouldn't notice). Nothing about my experience with Haley was positive. Her work was incredibly sloppy, negligent, and dishonest. Edited to add (in response to Howie, the owner): You know the issue isn't with the toner itself - I did not see that she didn't do the back otherwise I obviously wouldn't have been "pleased". Again, you know this. I have a photo attached. You see how bad it is. I don't know why you're trying to act like that quality of service is okay. I didn't realize Red Chair's standards were so low, and I regret that I gave you all a shot :/ Also, I have to spend the holidays looking like this. So thanks for that.

She gave me a blow out so my hair looked beautiful leaving but the next day washing it seeing my natural waves and curls and really inspecting the cut. I look a bit chopped. The front was not face framing instead she gave me 4 steps. The front is uneven and choppy as heck. My hair is gone so no way to fix that and wouldn't trust her to fix it tbh so I have to take an expensive loss. I cried all night yesterday just looking at the front pieces. Just embarrassing. I paid a lot and tipped very well just for it to look like an amateur cut my hair. Don't come here. I regret coming here as I looked better with my dead ends. I could've cut my own hair better which I have. This was supposed to be a pick me up to make me feel beautiful now 2 days later I am in regret not feeling like how I should and wanted. Sooooo expensive and terrible results. Also they could've been friendlier. I felt she got tired blow drying my hair. They are supposed to be knowledgeable in long, thick hair, curly hair, wavy hair. I wanted to choose this stylist due to her good reviews but I really cannot recommend her or this salon. I don't like leaving bad reviews but I am distraught. The cut - usually, I think my hair looks better worn up, but since Amy has been cutting it, I love wearing it down. Finally, she is so friendly and a joy to chat with.
