Bella Nails in Belmont is the most fabulous nail salon. I am so lucky it's just walking distance from my place. The girls, Vivian and Alan are wonderful. They really understand the needs of their customers. I go there as often as I can and it gets better and better everytime I go. I never have to worry about anything. My most recent experience with Rizelle was the ultimate best. Not only is she a perfectionist but she is so delicate when she's doing your nails. She's very easy to talk to and it's just really relaxing when I'm with her. I had a great white Shellac manicure. A very relaxing environment. They offer special treatments that are more expensive but really nice! The only reason I don't go here more often is because it's expensive compared to other quality nail places in the area. I go here when I really want a treat but mostly I go to first impressions in San Carlos because although it's not as nice, it's much cheaper. read more

I've been seeing Rizelle for a few years now. She's great if you have sensitive cuticles like me. Great technique and extremely gentle.

Unfortunately, for a very nice looking salon, I had a bad experience here. They cut 3 of my cuticles to the point of bleeding and then apologized and offered me a free service to come back and do it right but then failed to make the notation in their computer system - despite still having my information like name and phone number - when I called back awhile later to reconsider a visit. Stumbled on this place by accident while waiting for a friend to meet with me. I went in with no appointment and was immediately seated, the space is clean and spacious, and doesn't have that typical nail polish cancery smell. They have a wide selection of services and a great color choice. The owner seems very invested in his business and was very nice, the nail technicians were super professional and polite. I have been going here for years now putting up with the rude employees and mediocre service. Yesterday was my last time. Constantly the employees are horribly impolite, inconsiderate and do not do their work well unless you are harassing them throughout the entire appointment. The experience is rarely relaxing and the manicurists are usually rushed to the point where the work is consistently sub par. They are constantly overbooked and make people who have made appointments wait for longer than reasonable. To put it to rest, never do they do pedi's and mani's at the same time, so the appointment is always longer than necessary. read more

I have had mixed experiences here. Some days, some girls very good. Some days I get asked if I would like a refreshment. Some times I wait A LONG TIME despite having an appointment. They stick me in a chair and forget me. Last time my shellac pedicure turned out horrible even after being there for 2hrs. The owner was unapologetic. Found this salon though a Groupon. I thought it would be fun to have a mother-daughter manicure. We arrived a little after 10 am, the front desk person said that our appointment was for 9 am, advised her I asked for a 10 am appointment, I would have never booked it at 9 am because my daughter is not awake at that time. They took us in anyways, we had to wait for about 10 minutes, not too bad. They offered us water and a heated neck wrap while we waited. The ambiance of this place is beautiful and relaxing. They have massage chairs for their pedicure customers. So why only three stars you ask? I didn't really care for the service of the person who did my nails, she never even introduced herself, I didn't even know her name until they gave me the envelope to put her tip in. The manicure itself was nothing special, for the discounted price it was probably what I paid for, but I am not sure I would pay full price for the service. I do have to say I do like the products and the drying machine they used. Sometimes after a manicure your nails are still soft, I have to say that mine were completely dry and I didn't have to worry about damaging them after I left. Yes, as others said it was quite expensive vs other places. But the service received and facilities are excellent. Clean, very clean which is the most important! And the full sets of service received incl mani and pedi are never disappointing. Tried other places in the city and peninsular, yes,half of the price but also got half the service level received. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place. It's big, bright, clean and always has magazines and great OPI and Zoya colors. All the technicians are wonderful and the owner is very nice and professional. It doesn't smell like nail polish remover. Went here for the first time for a pedicure and will not return. The technician was extremely rough, both in pushing back the cuticles and trimming my nails. One of my big toes is still sore and I can tell by the way she clipped in at one corner that it will probably ingrow. I will have to keep an eye on it and go elsewhere when it starts to grow out. So I was feeling a bit impulsive on Saturday morning and wanted to get a mani/pedi. I heard that the new Shellac Mani was the latest and greatest so I wanted to give it a try. Fortunately for me I found Bella Nails. First impression was that this place is Modern, Super Clean and Swanky. They even auto-clave their instruments! I was very impressed to see that sitting on one of the counters. Every employee that I interracted with was so nice and very smiley.Upon being greeted I was offered green tea and then draped with a heated shoulder compress that immediately put me at ease. I started off with a spa pedi with Jayne who did an amazing job. After the nitty gritty pedi portion a lavender scrub was followed by a warm orange scented massage oil then that was followed up with warm wet wash cloth massage to remove all of the excess oil. Oh my, it was heavenly! Next I was tag teamed by Hannah who started on the Shellac Mani. It was your basic mani to begin with then there were various steps in the shellac-ing process. The end result were shiny, healthy nails. I almost didn't recognize my own hands. Bottom line was I spend $65 and definitely think it was worth it. Unfortunately, I had a little set-back 2 days later and a few of my shellaced nails starting peeling..most likely because my nails were quite dry from the winter elements and constant hand washing that the shellac didn't quite adhere. Whatever the case, Vivian the owner hooked it up and did the entire mani over on Monday evening half hour before closing. She didn't seem to be bothered at all by having to do it and I even got to pick a better color than I started with on Saturday. Despite the little issue I haven't lost faith I will definitely be back in two weeks for some more pampering. Thanks Ladies you were great! read more

I've been here several times now, first with a some Mom friends for a much needed "Mom's Day Out". I love that Bella Nails seems more upscale. It's clean and doesn't have that chemical smell that some salons have. I love their massage chairs and getting an appointment has always been super easy. I've had mani/pedi there, but I recently tried the shellac nails for the very first time. After two weeks, my nails still look great, except now my nails are starting to grow out. But one thing to remember...shellac needs to be soaked off in the salon and they do charge for that - just for removal. I asked. They said that you can ruin your nail if you try to take it off yourself. So -it made me wonder if the product was safe. They assured me that it was. So after having it on my nails a couple of weeks now...I haven't noticed any adverse effects and my nails still look shiny. No chipping. With that said, I'll probably do a normal manicure next time -just to see really what the difference is. Otherwise, I really like Bella Nails. All the manicurists that have worked on my nails have always been nice and have done a great job. I love their massage chairs and it's nice that they offer you something to drink and give you a warm pack on your neck to help you relax. So I like going here for a nice relaxing 1-hour of some "me" time. read more

My acrylic manicure was rushed, no cuticle care or even proper filing of nails prior to putting on the acrylic was done, no massage or lotion of any sort was used. I had the "dip" method and my nails came out sloppy and super bumpy and uneven. Very disappointing and expensive too- $50!!!! Never coming back. read more

I've been to Bella Nails twice and both times, had a lovely experience. I should mention that I've made appointments both times, so I'm not sure what the walk-in experience is like, but they've been able to see me on fairly short notice when I've called. This last time, I arrived almost a half hour early (due to transit), and they were able to see me almost immediately. I had Lisa for my entire experience (eyebrow wax, manicure, pedicure, and a neck/shoulder rub), and she was clearly very experienced. My eyebrows were done to my satisfaction with a normal amount of waxing pain in less than 10 minutes, I had no incidents with rough tools as some other folks have mentioned despite not having treated myself in five months, and Lisa has excellent hands when it comes to massage. I was thoroughly relaxed and enjoyed myself, even though the entire visit was over in about 90 minutes! One note: they don't have massage chairs as they do in many other nail salons, so the back massage is limited to neck and shoulder, but was still excellent. read more

I've been here a few times. The nail technician cut me maybe once or twice, but I lived with it. BUT - I just brought my teenage daughter in to have her nails done. Thinking I had been there before, I just sat off to the side and let the nail technician do her work. When my daughter was finished, she has blood still near her cuticle where the technician cut her and my daughter said the woman was so rude to her!! My daughter knows a few words in the Vietnamese language and the woman was calling her "annoying". This really upset me. I wanted to take back the tip I left. Never going back there. I just don't like people being rude to teenagers just because they feel like they can get away with it. read more

This place is clean, well decorated, usually fairly easy to get into as a walk in. They have a good assortment of colors to choose from. They do an average job with their mani pedi but change $50. This place is overpriced and I received one of the worst manicures ever. I don't know how the other woman got out for $47 mani/pedi I was charged $52! And now 4 days later the mani is chipping and cracking along the nail edges. Woman who did it did not apply all layers of polish evenly so there are ridges that are cracking and peeling. None of the women appear to speak English or if they do they use it as an excuse to ignore you the paying client!!!when I went to pay I was informed they only accept cash for tips no upfront warning. So now with wet nails I have to dig into wallet. First and LAST time here!! Back to Eros - less expensive, better quality and far more friendly. read more

I just had a full set of acrylic nails done at the Salon, and I am really happy with the results! My nails are very weak and thin and keep chipping no matter how short I cut them, and I simply needed something very natural-looking to cover up and strengthen the nails. Joe at the Salon worked that miracle with a French acrylic manicure - he understood exactly what I wanted, and within an hour had given me exactly that. His work is fast, efficient, and meticulous. I can only say the best about him and the salon in general - it's clean and modern, and scheduling and service are friendly and efficient. Very happy! read more

I started coming here for pedicures a couple of months ago, after trying several of the salons in San Carlos. This salon is very clean and the staff is very nice. They have a lot of chairs and seem to have a lot of people working there, so I've never had to wait too long. They have a good selection of OPI nail products, and I love the drying station that they have here-I think it really helps make your polish last. read more

This is a clean, friendly place. My regular manicure lasted longer than expected. My only complaint was with the service. I went to the register to pay for my service and there was no one there. For over five minutes, manicurists walked in and out of the back room, around the salon, etc. And I was ignored completely. Luckily, I was not in a hurry that day. I cannot rave enough about this nail salon. The term "salon" does not even really do it justice. It's more like a "spa". Beautiful space, comfortable pedicure chairs with state of the art massage. The Belmont and San Mateo facilities are very nice - clean, well-kept with great massage chairs. My 2 big complaints are: 1. they never seem to have enough staff on hand. Lots of empty chairs but no one available to give a manicure/pedi. 2. If you are in a rush and want to be out of here in an hour flat, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, you will feel rushed and moved along very quickly without much of a foot/leg massage or foot scrub. For a longer and more relaxing experience, I head to Universe on 25th in San Mateo and Bella when I just need to get the job done fast. read more
