Located in the Carlmont Shopping Center, Bella Nails is without a doubt the best place for a mani/pedi. I called to make a last minute appointment and was able to have a pedi within the hour. When I walked in, I was promptly greeted by the owner and asked what kind of service I wanted to have done. I opted for the Sea Salt Serenity pedi on account of the never ending winter! I loved the layout of the salon, the way the chairs are set up, it's so roomy and inviting. When I was seated in my chair I was offered tea or water. In addition, I was given a thermal wrap for my neck, something new to me. I am very observant especially when it comes to health and hygiene. I've read one too many horror stories of pedicures gone wrong. I noticed that the nail files and buffers were new; there were no white streaks indicating previous usage. The tools came in a little pouch that which means they were sterilized. I also saw the spa chairs being sanitized, the water filter was removed and cleaned thoroughly. On to the fun part! Sunny was my pedicurist - she is so nice and friendly. My pedicure went off without a cinch. I was glad the Sea Salt pedi included a 20 minute leg/foot massage; I was so relaxed I almost fell asleep. A week later and my pedi is still intact. Unfortunately, I didn't have time for a mani then but returned a few days later. Sunny treated me to the Milk & Honey mani which was also great. I usually have chips within the first day but it's been a few days and my nails are still awesome! I look forward to returning for my next mani/pedi! I;m a fan of this place. When I go home this is the salon I go to because it literally down the street form me and they have great reviews! Its a little expensive then other salons but they do a good job, an offer you tea an water. Oh and they give you these warm heating pad things they put over your neck I like that!!! read more

Thought I'd try this place out. It's kinda pricey. With that said, the facility is very nice, they have a lot of high-end nail polish options. I got a Pedi - massage was okay...I asked the lady to put a little 'ummf' into it. The color job was iffy. She put on 3 coats of polish & It looks all un-even, So I had to take it off & paint my toes myself 2 days later. I'd go back again to try another service, but it will be a while before I go back. It has been a very very long time since I got a mani pedi and I was really digging around trying to find a nice bang for your buck place. Bella Nails was exactly what I was looking for. Tam gave me a great pedicure while Razel did my manicure and they both did a wonderful job. I think it was actually the best mani pedi experience i've ever had! I will definitely go back again! I moved to the Belmont area back in December and was looking for a quality nail salon right away, and this was my first - and now only - nail salon I had to try.... Bella Nails is AMAZING!!! I faithfully return every 2 weeks to get my shellac manicure, and always have someone new.... but I don't care, because they all do a great job!! The worst manicure that I have gotten in my entire life. Although I arrived 10 minutes before my appointment time, my technician rushed through my dip manicure in order to service a different appointment that arrived 30 minutes early. I asked her if she could trim my cuticles (standard procedure for a manicure, usually!) and she said "no, no time". Once the color was put on (it only took 10 minutes she was going so fast!) I was moved to a different table where the man working the front desk jumped in to grind down my nails for thickness so that the real technician could get on to the next appointment. He was answering the phone for the entirety of the time he was sanding down my nails, and left them WAY too thick. When I looked at my nails at the end, my face showed confusion because there was nail polish all around my cuticles and GENUINELY looked like it had been done by a 5 year old. The man noticed my disappointment and said "don't worry, it will come off in a few days". My nails look worse coming out of that place than they did coming in, I do not recommend to anyone read more

A little pricier than others but worth it. I booked an appt after a recommendation from a close GF of mine. I didn't know who I'd see but ended up with Rizzelle for the manicure and Yen for the pedicure. Rizzelle took great care of my hands. She's one of the VERY few who actually got the shape right. Every other place either gave me 'square' or 'round'. And when I got square, it's always 'crooked' cause of the angle they stand in when it gets done. When I complain, they tell me "you're looking at it wrong"... (reasons why I only visit these places once... and never return) SO YES I was VERY pleased with how Rizzelle took care of me. BTW, I noticed the other manicurists doing the same thing Rizzelle was doing as well. Yen did a great job, too. Toes looked fabulous. 1.5 weeks later, still looking cute! Overall: service is great, atmosphere is pleasant, there's plenty of parking in front, when your appt is booked, you actually get to sit down and get started... ON TIME. I have given this salon several tries.. customer services is very unpredictable. Most of the women providing the nail treatment present unhappy, sullen and pissed that I am there getting a pedicure. The last time I was there the women doing my pedicure kept pushing my toes down and pulling my foot towards her... she kept adjusting my chair and was just really annoyed kept telling me to "relax"! Which is really challenging when you feel like you are doing something wrong ..oh and yah spending the money that I worked hard for! So I have decided I will relax at another nail salon where I will be treated with dignity and respect as a paying customer! read more

I haven't done a pedi here yet, so this is just a review for their shellac manicure services. My first time here I had a great Shellac manicure. The lady really took her time and was so proud of her product that she ran to her co-worker to show her my fingers. I was so happy she took such care and pride into my nails. My only regret was not getting her name because the 2nd time I went to Bella Nails wasn't as great as the first. My 2nd lady, did a fairly ok job, but I knew something was wrong when she said that I was her last client and she was about to finish. The drying time for my nails seemed like it cut in half compared to the first lady. She cut my hand/arm massage in half and after careful inspection later, I saw that several nails had "mistakes" on them. I will definitely ask for the other lady next time. I don't know her name, but I do remember how she looks like. Minus one star because of their inconsistency. I like that they wrap each finger tip with nail polish solution as opposed to dumping your entire fingers in solution like I've experienced at another nail salon. The salon is very clean and well kept. Everyone is nice and helpful. They offer tea or water and even fruit to enhance your experience. All I have to say is WOW. This is THE nicest nail place in the San Carlos/Belmont area I've been to. I live just up the hill, and it's nice to see a spot that's even closer to my abode than the ones on El Camino. The girls are tentative and give awesome massages, and it doesn't hurt that they're all cute as a button! They have top of the line equipment where the massage chairs even work your legs and butt. After reading all the reviews on here, I had to try this place out. I was looking for a place to do the shellac manicure. I really liked how I didn't have to wait to get my nails done. I had made an appointment during my lunch time, so I was press for time. I was seated and greeted right away. The manicurist (Daisy) placed a heating pad on my shoulders as I sat down at the station. She got right to work. The manicure itself took literally 30-35 minutes, giving me enough time to pick up some lunch and head back to work. What I am skeptical about is the price. $35 for the manicure. I feel that is a bit too pricey. I did ask if they charge when removing the color for the next visit, and they do. an additional $5 bucks, making it a total of $40 for my next visit. Although this place is very cute and does a good job, I don't think the price is completely worth it. read more

So when I made my appointment it was for a pedicure and a acrylic nail fill. I was told to be there by 11:45. Realized I didn't have money for both and as a courtesy I called at 9:30 that morning to change it to just a nail fill. Was told to come in at 12:30. Get there on time and when I asked for the Ombre nails (the whole reason why I came to this place, since I only pay $30 for a fill at my other place) and was told the lady wasn't there and to just pick a color And have a seat and was offered water. There was no place to put my purse either. Most places have a hook on the stations for a bag. I waited about 15 minutes before anyone came to perform my requested service. Jolene was quiet but went straight to work and ended up making sure the shelaic was perfect because there was bumps all over a couple nails. I appreciated her attention to detail but at the same time $40 for a fill is kind of too pricy for me. When I first started going to Bella Nails which was around 2009, I thought they were really good. The past year of going to Bella's hasn't been that great of an experience. Every time I go I get a pedicure and a Gel Manicure. The paint job is very very sloppy and the polish is bumpy and bubbly. The cost is pricey. It's $72.00 each time and that doesn't include tip. In addition, last time I was there the employees were talking about another customer who was very frustrated with the service as well. Very unprofessional. Since this was my first time, I must say Bella Nails gets 4 stars. However, I'm sure I'll change it if I continue to get the great service that I did today. First, bikini waxing: Ladies, you know there are days when you just need to get it done. It's never pleasant or comfortable. However, Kristen was amazing! She used soft wax to clean me up which was a little nerve-wrecking due to a prior experience that was AWFUL. But she was personable and went fast enough so it was only a mild pain/irritation. She wasn't pushy either. There's some people would want to rip all the skin off your body so they can move on, but she allowed me to breathe and relax in between. Second, shellac manicure. I must say this is the first place that I've been to that gives you the awesome hand/forearm massage. Most places skimp on it since they are doing the gel manicure. Every step that Rozella took was pretty much the same as any regular manicure with the exception of the shellac. That was a huge bonus for me. Rozella is a quiet speaker, but I liked that because she actually talked to me and not the other girls (even though my phone was constantly going off). Been here a couple times mostly for a pedicure. Every time I go I think it will get better. The staff is so very nice and tries to make you happy. Problem is, my nails are always filed down way too far (on top of the nail) and if I take the polish off, the nail is too thin and with white spots. The last time I went, I got a manicure only. She clipped and clipped and then cut me, she just wouldn't stop. She did feel badly but the cut was so bad the bleeding couldn't be stopped. I left with no polish and a $5 discount. I went in for 1 of 2 sessions. I explained to her what my thoughts were in the shaping, she explained the process completely start to finish and what to expect for after care. She sends you this information in a email to prior to your appointment too. She showed me the color we agreed it was a perfect color match, she measured and outlined the shape to make sure they were symmetrical, and she proceeded. Throughout the process she made sure I was comfortable and genuinely concern of my well being throughout the process. The first appointment I was blown away how beautiful and natural they looked, this past Sunday night was my second follow up appointment, a month in between each appointment, they are gorgeous! I've been going to Bella Nails for several years, starting at the Hillsdale location. I was excited when they opened a second shop in Belmont. The owners are a husband and wife team and it seems the wife runs the Hillsdale shop while the husband is always at Belmont. The last several visits to the Belmont location have been less than satisfying. I make appointments, arrive on time and generally have to wait for 30 minutes before getting in the pedicure chair. Then during the process I have 4 different people working on me. I've also been getting shellac manicures, so I'm spending $65+ per visit. What put me over the edge was getting charged $5 extra to remove the shellac polish I had had applied there, so they could give me another shellac manicure! I hadn't been charged for this previously. I could understand it more if I was solely there to have the polish removed. I felt taken advantage of. The service used to be fabulous, now I get the sense the owner takes the business for granted and doesn't appreciate a good, repeat customer. I usually go on the weekdays as they are very busy on the weekends. Allan knows me and I don't even have to ask for services he just knows what I want. They have a good variety of nail colors as well. VERY CLEAN and good cleaning processes. The technicians are all very friendly - most won't converse with you which in my book is fine. I would rather relax or read my trashy magazine. You can tell them if you want them to scrub hard or soft (my sister is extremely tiskilish and they are good about respecting that. I've had the waxing done once on my face and underarms and it was not painful compared to what I have had done before. They provide water, tea and coffee. Always good service. Allan always has a nice smile to share with you. You feel like a valued customer. HIGHLY recommend this or their San Mateo location. His wife manages that location and she's just as wonderful. Most of the technicians give decent pedicures but it is on the pricey side..... they have been in Belmont for about a year and the age is starting to show and starting to get dirty. The massage chair cover was peeling and didn't work. On top of it the water in the tub was ice cold! My nails needed some help! I walked in and was surprised on how nice the place looked. Not what I was expecting! I got a shellac manicure from a very sweet technician named Tam. I then decided to pamper myself more and get a facial. I believe her name was Christy or Christine? She was fabulous! Probably one of the best facials I've gotten. I have been going here for years now putting up with the rude employees and mediocre service. Yesterday was my last time. Constantly the employees are horribly impolite, inconsiderate and do not do their work well unless you are harassing them throughout the entire appointment. The experience is rarely relaxing and the manicurists are usually rushed to the point where the work is consistently sub par. They are constantly overbooked and make people who have made appointments wait for longer than reasonable.
