Came here yesterday and the pedicure was fine. The nail polish was a bit sloppy but overall I had a great experience at this salon. Vivian fit me in with 15 minute notice! That goes a long way for me. Everything is very clean and I really really like that the technicians don't talk to each other in their language to the point that the customer feels uncomfortable! This place is impressive compared to others I've seen on the Coast. Very large and looks clean. I came in for wax job. I made an appointment and was helped at the counter by a man. He seemed really nice and I only had to wait for a couple of minutes before a young lady came out to take me to their back room. Rosie seemed to be a really sweet gal. She was fast and efficient in finishing my leg and underarm waxing. I'm usually a heavy tipper for someone who is nice to me, especially in places that take the time to make you comfortable and just be a nice person. There are many places that just want to rush you out the door ( as I've encountered in other places). Plus, you have to give props for those who deal with other people's feet and "other" parts on a daily basis. When I come back, I'll make sure to request her again. I did end up with bits of wax that weren't properly cleaned up (hence the four stars) buts sadly it seems to happen just about everywhere. One thing I find weird about this place is that the girl at the register asks how much money you want back. I didn't like that. The polite thing to do is give the customer back their money (in small bills if necessary), so they can tip their person without being put on the spot. read more

I've been here a couple times now and it really just depends on which manicurist you get. Onetime I came and they cut my cuticles so much that I bled. But another time everything was perfect. I come back because it's close and prices are pretty reasonable. 30$ for a basic pedicure (comes with a scrub and a good massage) and 20$ for a manicure (with decent massage and lotion). They offer refreshments and have nice amenities (massage chairs). They keep things clean too. They have a decent selection of OPI nail polishes and a great selection of gel polishes. Sometimes the manicurists can come off rude or rush through the manicure/pedicure (I once finished 15 minutes before my mom even though we got the same thing done and started at the same time - my massage was only like 2 minutes) but the receptionists have always been amazing. When you find a good manicurist definitely take note of their name and ask for them again (I always forget). Minus one star for inconsistent service but overall ill be back. read more

Stopped in here the other day with a friend for some impromptu G'day pampering and was really impressed with how well run this place is! Got a great manipedi while my ass was thoroughly kneaded by their super massage chairs. I've been there twice and I like it. It is close to my house and this place is very nice and clean and neat. The staffs were very polite and nice. The massage chair was so comfortable. The color was long lasting. They did a very good job. One of the lady named Lisa, she had strong hands, she massaged my feet and could make me fall asleep. They also provide you drinks such as water, juice, chardonnay. I also did the waxing and I like the girl, Sammie, who did it for me. She's talkative that she knew how to communicate with her customers. The waxing part was so great too. She made me did my first Brazilian. This place rocks for experience, service and cleanliness. I've loved my nail place in San Francisco for years... but now after a few visits to Bella Nails, I just can't seem to go back. I really enjoy getting away from it all at this lovely day spa. I usually have a manicure and pedicure. And, I often get my brow and lip waxed too. Hannah helped me today and she gave me an amazing pedicure. Lynn also helped me today. She gave me a manicure...and the best hand massage i have experienced. The only thing that isn't always great is the waxing. I had a technician today that used scissors first. I don't like 'cutting' the eyebrow hairs. It is weird. But, it isn't terrible:) The gentleman who works there is terrific too. He gives a great foot massage! I highly recommend this spa. read more

The owner is super nice and really checks in with you. My first experience here was so-so but the quality and cleanliness made up for it. One technician I've had twice and he hasn't done a ver good job with my manicures. The girls who have done my pedicures are awesome though. When I let the owner know how I felt about the tech that did my mani she had my nails re-done and gave me a gift card to cover my next manicure. Good atmosphere. Friendly staff. Prices have gone SKY HIGH. Last time I was in I spent $60.00 for a pedicure after tip. $60.00!!!! The cheaper pedicure which I think is like $25.00 -$30.00 (while mine was $50.00) but with the cheaper one you are in and out in 20 minutes... and the service is kinda shaky. Sometime you get a neck pillow, sometimes not...sometimes you get a massage...sometimes not. I really LOVE the experience here when my wallet is fat enough to afford the longer, "spa" pedicures. I love Bella Nails and I am a regular at Belmont location and I have been to San Mateo couple of times but this time around I have to say it wasn't a superb experience. 20 minute massage felt like somebody 'patting' my feet than a massage I usually get. All my friends have been coming to Bella nails for years and I have been a few times. I wanted something that wouldn't take long for a acrylic fill and gel. They got my nails done in only 40 min and they turned out ok. For the price it's defiantly not worth it and they only take cash tip. Wendy did my nails and wasn't very friendly. I've been coming to Bella Nails since I moved to the Bay Area in 2011 and it's the best spa/salon on the Peninsula. I've never had a bad anything there. I have gotten spray tans, waxing, manicures, pedicures, and various nail treatments. I particularly love the Milk and Honey Glow pedicure and Vivian is one of the best spray tan appliers I've ever known. Some say that their prices are high, but after living in LA these prices are normal and reasonable considering what a great, consistent job they do every time I'm there. I was thinking of rating them 4 stars because of how pricey this place is but you really get what you paid for here! I always like to make reservations and they have always been good about accommodating me. I always have a chair waiting. First of all, you walk in and there's a receptionist who is not doubling as a technician which is really helpful. Always have had friendly interactions with them. I would pick out my color (tons of OPI) and my chair is always ready. They really pay attention to your nails, offer water/tea, and the best part is the lavender warm thing they put around your neck. Made an appointment for noon for 2 coconut pedicures and 2 Tahitian manicures for my mom and I. They called about an hour after I scheduled and asked if I could come in earlier. I have been to Bella nails several times and I have had pretty good experiences, but you have to beware of the prices. I usually get gel manicure + pedicure and it comes out to $73 for both! To me that is just outrageous. As someone who goes every 2 weeks for the same service its insane to spend that much. They have an excellent color choices and matching polishes, but after the third time I could not bring myself to spend that much money on my nails. Also, I asked each time to get nails and toes done at the same time and I was only accommodated once. There's nothing worse then spending more than an hour at a nail salon. No one has time for that! My first and last visit to "Brutta" experience! If you want to go somewhere where you are treated like poo and the manicurist seems irritated, then by all means piss your money away here. Your experience starts off upon your arrival with everyone ignoring you. After standing for what seems like five minutes you are taken to be seated in a broken massage chair with cold water. When you ask for it to be warmer you get the eye roll. The manicurist must read minds as I was never asked what type of pedicure I wanted. The massage is basically her petting your shins while watching the clock, never mind being tapped forcibly to move your legs to better suit her. I was yelled at for not watching how I walked with the funny slippers while being led to another room, which I had no idea where we were going. I am the silent patron, I am not one to ask for anything and just accept the service. I have never posted a bad review ever! Bella still gets 5 stars from me AND Alan still gives the best manicures ever...but I don't get manicures anymore. I have gone back to acrylics. Sammi makes my nails perfect. She's just awesome. But then there's Rizelle and Tommy who are fantastic too. And how Vivian remembers everyone's name I will never know. Vivian knows who has stuck with her through the years which I consider a GREAT thing. I started with her almost 10 years ago and to this day, even when I call on super short notice, Alan and Vivian find a way to make it work. They may talk me into a different time slot, but never do they ever tell me a flat out no. It makes it just too easy to keep going back! I have since completely given up trying anywhere else. I had a mani with some new fancified, stay on your nails for two weeks nail polish so that was a bit more expensive. However, if it does stay on my nails for two weeks, the extra price will be worth it. My service was decent but I did see lots of ladies with wine and I was not offered any (maybe cause I was having a mani only?) Prices are acceptable. read more

I just moved in the area recently & passed by this place once and it looked so beautiful & elegant. I was looking forward to paying a visit. I haven't waxed my brows in years just because I'm very picky about it. Had them waxed too thin & crooked before, just all bad so I started to maintain them myself by plucking them. I wear latex gloves all day and dread any upcoming events where I might need/want a manicure. Usually after a day or so my color is chipped or breaking down so when I heard about the Shellac manicure I had to try it out. This is one of the best salons that I have been besides Silks in SF! The technicians are professional and I felt relaxed coming here. One thing is that they use the tubs where silks used the copper bowls! But the service was great which is an important factor for me and the technicians do concentrate on you! I went back with my horrible nails and aśked for the manager. I showed her my nails and told her that this was the worst manicure of my life. She offered to redo them and gave me a gift card to come back. I went back a few days later after calling. During the call I specifically said I wanted the manager to do them. A nice young lady did the file and foil for soaking off... Then an another lady did the manicure not the manager. She was much better but still not as good as what I was use to. starlight uses a little brush around the nail to get them almost perfect which they don't. Pleased they stepped up. read more
