Since my usual manicurist in Burlingame is currently on vacation, I decided to give this place another try. Unfortunately, this visit reminded me exactly why I chose to find a new salon. I just had the BEST pedicure experience and I have to shout out Linda Being pregnant, my feet are definitely not at their cutest right now but Linda and the other staff whose names I forgot to ask for took such amazing care of me. They were incredibly detailed, patient, and really took their time to make sure my feet looked cute for my baby shower. She paid special attention to preventing ingrown toenails and made sure everything was done comfortably and safely which meant a lot to me. You can tell they truly cares about their work and clients. I've never left a negative Yelp review before, but I was genuinely disappointed by my experience here. After seeing positive reviews about Linda, I booked an appointment with her online and received both a confirmation text and a reminder. I arrived on time, checked in immediately, and waited for several minutes before sitting down. After about 15 more minutes, an employee approached and asked whether I had called to confirm my appointment, which was confusing since I had already received confirmation through their system. I was then directed to call Linda directly. She didn't answer, so I left a voicemail. He also attempted to reach her with no success. At that point, I asked to cancel my appointment and left. It has now been four days, and I've never received a follow-up call or acknowledgment. I had high hopes for this salon but the state of my nails after just 1.5 weeks has left me extremely disappointed and needing to share my experience. To start on a positive note, I am giving this salon 1 star for Linda's professionalism. She was very friendly and put effort into making sure the length and shape of my set was to my liking. I arrived 5 mins late to my appointment and she was very understanding. She was also intentional about making sure the design was replicated perfectly, even mixing colors for me to get the right color match. Unfortunately, the application and longevity of my set was not good and ultimately that's why I am writing this review. I booked this salon specifically for a builder gel + extension set (not gel-x) which I was told would last just as long as acrylics (i.e. 3-4 weeks before a fill). I was told to set aside 2 hours for the appointment and ended up being there for 3 full hours. The set cost $140 after tip. This is the most I have ever paid for nails, which I would have been fine with had the nails lasted... Immediately after leaving the salon I noticed a ton of lint cured into the nails, and the application was inconsistent, with some nails being super thick and others being thinner. Within the first week alone almost all the nails were lifting and after only 1 and a half weeks one of the nails had come off entirely. Linda mentioned that she insures her work, but I was not happy with the quality of the work after leaving the salon, so I didn't go back for a fix. This was my only experience with this salon, so I can't speak to the quality of their other services, but sadly I will not be visiting again. read more

It was $30 for the manicure and $15 for Gel X removal with service, which is pretty reasonable I believe. The nail tech was very meticulous and careful with removal and my nails feel healthy after. Guess who found their new favorite nail salon! I really wish I remembered the names of the nail techs because they were so sweet. Because I was the last person there, they made me feel like a celebrity HAHAHA. I had the attention of three people. And in case you're wondering how sweet they are, the lady doing my nails said my hands were so cold - she offered to put it back in the UV lamp to warm them up. I could cry. Thank you. Also, I don't typically get my nails done so I wasn't sure what shade of pink would go best with the style I wanted - but they were kind enough to give me both shape and color recommendations. This was the weirdest experience. I walk in and the place is huge and totally empty. Vibe is a weird mix of fancy but a little run down, with wrinkled handwritten signs on a couple of the chairs saying they're out of service, leftover New Year's decor, that sort of thing A young, very nice, inexperienced lady starts doing my nails. An older woman is literally sitting next to her looking over her shoulder and watching her every move. It had to be making her uncomfortable. It was certainly making me uncomfortable. Then the older woman starts filing her own nails. Meanwhile, two seats down, another one of the employees was watching TV on her phone. And at the end three seats in the other direction from where I was sitting was a guy with a laptop and his snacks and all his stuff just sitting there doing whatever he was doing on the computer. The manicurist starts to take out the electric nail file... There was nothing on my nails, and I was just getting a gel manicure. Really they shouldn't be using the machine on your bare nail for any reason in my opinion, but anyway, I asked her not to do it. They also paint the alcohol on your nails with a brush that looks dirty to me, but it is alcohol so there's that. I had questions about that as well because I've never seen anybody do that. They usually just spray your nail. There was definitely a language barrier, but it didn't bother me as long as she could understand what I wanted. At this point, another woman comes in, ostensibly the owner, and starts telling me that because of the language barrier, the manicurist can only read body language. I think what she was basically trying to tell me is because I said no to having my nails filed with a machine, that now the manicurist is afraid to do anything. This is all ridiculous. Then this owner/manager has me pick up and move to a different station and said she'll do it herself. I am completely uncomfortable at this point. And then the icing on the cake? The owner takes out an electric file! At this point, I got up, dropped 20 bucks on the table for their time and told her this was all very uncomfortable and I left. There must be six other salons in a two block radius. I recommend trying a different one. In fact there are so many I initially tagged the wrong place. read more

My daughter discovered Linda online, so we booked a mani & pedi appointment for her ahead of her school formal, and we are so glad we did! We sent her nail art design through beforehand, and Linda absolutely delivered. The care and precision she put into the technical work were truly impressive. I went along with my daughter as a walk-in for a mani & pedi during her appointment and ended up getting a detailed nail design myself. While I was getting my pedi, Linda gave me a nail consultation because I'm very particular about not damaging my natural nails. She introduced me to builder gel, which I was very pleased with. I mentioned wanting a cat-eye polish, which they happily accommodated, and then Linda created magic by adding a last-minute snowflake design that my daughter randomly picked out online. We also use a powdery product that I don't remember the name. In the end, we added a few additional details, and the final result was a beautiful holiday-themed set that I absolutely loved. One thing that truly stands out about Linda is that no matter how particular a client may be (like me and my daughter!), she will never let you leave feeling anything less than completely satisfied. I had very high hopes for this nail salon after reading all of the great reviews, so I made an appointment to come in for an acrylic nail fill and a gel pedicure. I am very disappointed with my experience here. I believe this salon has the potential to be very great, but unfortunately, the staff hired are not skilled enough to handle acrylic nails. My gel pedicure took 2 hours which was crazy considering I made an appointment ahead of time. This pedicure was nothing special but all of the extra things they did like the hot wax, massage, and scrub took way too long. The pedicure was mediocre and did not exceed expectations. Finally, when they started to do my acrylic nail fill, I immediately noticed the lack of experience in the staff members. They filed all of my cuticles until they were bleeding and very sensitive. Then they started applying the acrylic powder very sloppy and clumpy. As someone who gets a new acrylic set every month, and multiple fills from a variety of nail salons, I have never seen anyone apply acrylic powder in this way. I was very unimpressed and knew that this was not something I wanted to stick around for. I told the owner I wanted to leave as I was very unhappy with my experience. She kindly cut the acrylic off and I headed over to a new salon. I would not recommend coming here as I wasted more than 2 hours of my time just to walk out with nails that looked 10x worse from when I came in. read more

I will start my review by saying that the salon owner, Linda, is as lovely inside as she is on the outside. I've been staying with my mom this week; she's in her early 80s and has Alzheimer's as well as another serious illness. So, to put it mildly, it is a major ordeal getting her out of the house and to a nail salon (or anywhere). A very sweet manicurist gave my mom a basic mani-pedi (she didn't want any polish). She worked VERY slowly, but I mean that as a compliment because that is just what my mom needed. It was clear that Linda had told her about my mom's issues. She would have gotten very agitated if things had gone faster. On our way out, Linda noticed that my mom's toenails weren't quite even, so she asked us to stay so she could fix that. She actually sat cross-legged on the floor to work on my mom's nails, since my mom was already seated in her rolling walker and getting ready to leave. I so appreciated that--my mom would likely have gotten stressed out and upset if she'd had to walk back to a salon chair (which is challenging for her to get into because of the height). Linda and another manicurist worked to make things right, and they took their time and really treated my mom with respect. I can't thank Linda enough for her excellent service or recommend Soleil Luna enough. I only hope that my sibling or I can get my mom out of the house again for a future visit. Yesterday I went in to get a pedicure. The gentleman had me sign in. As I signed in I noticed they had a display for cat eyes. I asked if they provided this service just to make sure, so I added that service once he confirmed. Let me tell you, this man did an amazing job. I felt so relaxed, cared for and overall loving the experience. The pedicure ended and I was on cloud 9. On the other hand, what was to come did not inspire that same magical effect. I didn't get the lady's name but she was Asian, short, dyed hair in blond/orange and a snake ring and bracelet. I waited for her to finish her client which I thought was weird considering no one else was with the gentleman that did my pedicure. I shrugged it off, and boy once she sat down the nightmare began. She soaked my hand in water, and then used that electric nail drill on my nails. She was going to town drilling away when I didn't even have any polish on! She was so harsh and aggressive, but I gave her the benefit of doubt that she was not paying attention. After that, she grabbed the nail filer sponge and went to town on my nails and finger so hard she made a cut on my thumb. It's as if she knew she was being harsh because after that she asked, "are you okay?" I communicated that she was being too rough, and she just laughed. I don't know if the language barrier affected this message to her, or she honestly didn't care. Later, she started applying the nail polish for cat eyes. Half of the time it seemed like she didn't know what she was doing. She kept going through different magnets. It wasn't until the gentleman came around and advised her which one to use. This whole time she kept painting outside of the nails, and was applying the paint inconsistently. During this whole process I felt stressed, tense, concerned and honestly uncomfortable. By the end, she asked me "do you like it?" I tried not to be rude and told her she just needed more practice and said "I know you will get better". Today I woke up refreshed, and thought maybe I'll like them better today. Nope, I can actually say with confidence that I hate them more than I did yesterday. They are absolutely atrocious. No standards, no consistency in application, no kindness from the lady and absolutely not cat eyes which is what I asked for! I paid full price for something that seemed more like a Frankenstein experiment, and practice session for the nail tech. I wish I could give more stars for the gentleman, but I am truly disappointed in the overall product of this experience. read more
