I'm thrilled with my experience here. I really needed the break on the haircut price as a student, so when Tweety (Thuy?) had an opening on a weekday and had all 5-stars, I took the appointment. I remembered her name from the last time I was there and figured it was worth a shot. I had seen Jenny a year previous and was happy enough that I wanted to go back. I remember I felt like she listened to me when I said I was not going to style my hair much and she gave me a haircut perfect for my low-maintenance lifestyle. This time I asked Thuy to do her professional thing with my shoulder-length straight hair and add any creative layering she wanted to and she really took her time to give me a super cute haircut that frames my face and had a nice layers. She could have taken the easy way out and just gave me a straight-across haircut since I wasn't asking for much more than a trim, so that she took her time on me made me feel special and like it got my money's worth. I came in for a detailed haircut appointment with Lily and she was super patient with me when I was unsure of what I wanted. I explained my problems with styling my hair, I had thick frizzy and wavy hair, a lot of it, so I wasn't sure if layering it was out of the question. Jenny is a magician!! I'm new to this town and I was exploring this area with a good hair cut place. There last time I got my hair done was 5 months ago, so it was at a point where I had to dye my hair. I have naturally dark Asian hair and bleached it before. I walked around downtown Mountain View and went into 3 different shops. I decided to go with Jenny because she has a reasonable price and she gave me a consultation even when I just walked in there randomly. I called her a few days ahead to make my appointment and showed up. During the appointment, Jenny took her time to talk to me and understand what I want, was straight up with how much she charges, and was patiently doing my hair for about 4 hours. We did ash color babylight and a haircut to cut out all the bad ends I had. She also gave me advice on how to take care of my hair. I've been to a lot of hair salons and have had some horrendous haircuts and some decent ones but this has been my favorite cut so far!! I booked an appointment with Jenny Vu and I came in with a general idea of what I wanted. Jenny was very attentive in understanding what I was looking for and suggesting some styles based on my hair type and what she's done/seen in the past. She knows Asian hair well and did an incredible job - I walked out feeling fresh & confident! I am very picky about my hair but Jenny has a great eye and I'm so happy to have found my go-to hair stylist in the Bay Area :) As for parking, there is street parking and a parking lot right by the salon. That area typically gets busy around lunch/din so would recommend scheduling an appt around those hours. read more

I went to the salon today, and the customer service was terrible. Nobody talked to me while I was there, which made the atmosphere really awkward. It was my first time, so I expected at least some conversation, but instead, it was completely silent. The male hairdresser was rough with my hair and didn't even apply heat protectant. He didn't explain anything about the process either, which felt really unusual and uncomfortable for me. During the end, I didn't get any aftercare tips or suggestions, which I found odd. When I thought about it later, I saw so many bad reviews about the same male hairdresser, and I thought, "Oh no." I don't think I'll ever return to this place. In the background, I also overheard the other hairdressers talking in a very superficial way to their customers, which felt really unpleasant. read more

It was my first visit to this salon: Bella on Villa. At the time of my visit the man-hairdresser working at this salon was available to cut my hair. Unfortunately for me, it turned out, he was not an experienced stylist, had no skills, and maybe no training in this profession. Not sure if he completed cosmetology training and if he is licensed. I made very clear what I wanted: a perm and a haircut. I explained my preferences and expectations; additionally, I showed 2 pictures of the hair style from the front, the side and back. This man-hairdresser did not ask any questions and appeared to understand my expectations. BUT the outcome of his poor-quality work was a source of a big disappointment! Cutting my hair, he used not only scissors but also a razor blade and acted as a butcher; my hair was chopped, sectioned unevenly. The result of his work showed no style at all and did not even remotely remind the hair style I expected, and I showed him in the beginning of the appointment. He said no word when I expressed my disappointment. It was a horrible experience, and I would NOT recommend this solon to anyone. read more

Jenny is incredible! My family has been going to her for 5 years, initially at Midtown Hair Salon and now at Bella on Villa. I have naturally curly hair and had struggled to find a stylist that knew how to work with it. My hair was damaged and it grows slowly so it was a process to get it to where it is now. I love it! Jenny was there every step of the way, helping me through the awkward grow out phase with flattering cuts and giving me advice on how to best care for it. My son also goes to her. Similar to me, he has curly hair and two cow licks at the crown of his hair. Poor kid, so many bad haircuts and puffy hair before we found her. He is now a teenager and consults her directly. Its a BIG YES! It's the best haircut I've ever got in recent 2 years. Will immediately knows what I was looking for after few minutes of chatting, and finally getting the result I was looking for. I was firstly suspicious because it's the first time doing hair here. But turned out to be great. The stylist is very professional and patient with each thread of hair. Taking about an hour. And the the hair doesn't need a lot of maintainable for it to stay good. I don't think this place is worth the money for a hair cut. Over priced. Only took 30 mins to complete my hair cut and it was 65 excluding tips and no proper head massage during my hair wash. When I entered into the salon, she was just sitting down and doesn't even have the hospitality to greet me. Hey! This is supposed to be a high end place Mountain View! I'm not walking into a cheap back door Vietnamese salon. She did not even clean up my back hair line as I only noticed it when I went home and my sister was telling me that it was not straight and even. I was pretty upset. I am very particular about the quality that a place gives me when comes to service. I pay to get a good service. Lily did an amazing job with my balayage. I have had balayage several times in the past, but as first step salons will always bleach parts of my hair. Though that has been fine they will make the color Warmer than I have liked. Lily recommended that we don't bleach and try warm caramel on my dark hair with no bleach -- saves my hair from damage from bleach. I was pretty pleased with the end result. I got a haircut from Jenny yesterday and she mentioned that my hair has a lot of density and needs to be texturized. I was a little wary of texturizing and thinning my hair because i have wavy hair but i trusted that she would do what looked good. when she started thinning it out it felt a little like ripping and I realized she was texturizing so close to the scalp. Those hairs are going to take forever to grow! also she took so much hair out which was not at all necessary and now my hair is so flat and stringy at the back! i had to go to a different salon today to get it fixed.
