After 21 years of amazing haircuts by Mariola, I must tell the world! Am I ever the lucky one to have met Mariola all those many years ago. She was recommended to me by a friend and still today, I wouldn't even think to go to anyone else! I can count on Mariola to work her wizardry every time I come in for a cut. I remember her telling me one day, that each time she cuts my hair, it might be just a tad bit different. She looks at my face, the current length. She asks questions, even today...were the bangs too long last time? Do want this part shorter, etc? She takes to a haircut, the way an artist might take to a canvas and she enjoys the process. It may take a little longer to finish, but she's a perfectionist and I'm totally okay with that. The finished look is always bright and refreshing. She is up with trends, and yet knows all the classic styles as well. Being an artist myself, I let her do whatever she wants with my hair. She truly loves to create something great and she does, every time! My friends and family are still commenting on my cute haircut. I happily tell them, Mariola is still doing my hair! She's even able to work with gobs of white strands, making it look cool to be older and not coloring my hair. We joke about that...maybe someday I will. I had been going to Parlour 308 in Los Gatos for years but found out my hairstylist retired. Since I live in Los Altos Hills I thought I'd try to find a place closer to home, and chose Somewhere in Los Altos based upon the positive reviews here. I was lucky that Vida had a cancellation the following day. I really don't like changing hair stylists, but had no choice here. Fortunately it turned out that Vida was great! She asked a lot of questions to understand how I like my hair cut, gave me a perfect haircut, and is also a very nice, personable person. The place is really small, and there are 4 different stylists who work there. If you are going there the first time it can be hard to find - it's right next to Chase. Beatriz is an amazing stylist and colorist! She's very warm and friendly as well as deeply knowledgeable and professional. Beatriz took the time to truly understand my daughter's complicated situation (wanting to remove her brunette dye and re-color her naturally blonde hair), and to explain what she was doing at every step along the way. Beatriz was incredibly patient with the lengthy and challenging re-coloring process -- and made a very long day pass easily and comfortably. She also gave us great advice about maintenance and future care and encouraged us to call her if we ever had any further questions. My daughter and I are very grateful to Beatriz for being so compassionate and considerate and for working with us so patiently. We're both delighted with how my daughter's hair now looks and feels. I'm sure everyone at Somewhere is very good at what they do, but I can only speak from my personal experience. I had my hair cut by Nicole last week, and I must say she is absolutely awesome! She listened to what I was looking for and offered a few suggestions of her own. When she was done, I can honestly say that she gave me one of the best hair cuts I've ever had in my life. My 12 yo son has tons of thick thick hair, that he was keeping a little long for years, though willing to get it trimmed and neatened. Vida is the fourth person we tried and the first who finally made it look good, satisfying my desire for it to look cared for and his for not a typical short buzz cut. I had my hair done by Nicole and would most definitely go back to her again and again! I have very curly hair and find it hard to blow dry and flat iron myself and even more hard to find someone who can do it for me with the high standards that I have (make it straight as a bone!) and Nicole did that and more for me! She made my hair so straight and shiny and it lasted for five days (which is a lot in the curly hair world). Go see her, she won't let you down! It's such a relief to have found Beatriz! I liked my previous stylist, but it just seemed like my hair came out different each time I got it cut and the color never really looked natural. Thank you, Bea, for being the most awesome hair stylist I've had in a long time! The last several hair stylists I went to lasted only one visit from me, as NOT ONE of them listened to my needs and desires regarding my hair (because they new my hair better than me?). However, Beatriz, on top of being genuinely sweet and affable, really cares and listens to her customers. I went in just for a haircut, and with recent issues concerning hair loss, I had my fears of having someone else handle my hair and scalp due to its sensitivity. NOT with Beatriz though. She listened to my concerns, was so gentle with me, that because she had time, I ended up having her color my hair also. She is so easy to talk to, I had such a good time while she worked on my hair. After she was all done, I could not believe how fabulous my hair cut AND color turned out. I told her I was going to a great concert the next day, she gave me some wonderful tips for my hair and make up, and she even gave me a sample of her makeup which worked wonders!! Vida is so, so lovely, and the salon is super cozy and cute! She fit me in for a last minute booking, which was so great because I was leaving town the day after. I went in for just a trim and ended up deciding that I wanted to get a box fringe done as well. She was very patient with me, as I wasn't sure exactly what it was that I wanted. She was understanding that I was nervous, as it was a big change, and didn't pressure me to go shorter or longer, just talked me through everything that she was doing while she was doing it so I knew what was going on the entire time, which is wonderful to find in a hairdresser. I was so worried that the fringe wouldn't suit me, but she cut it so beautifully and skilfully, I don't think I'll let anyone else cut my hair! I am always indecisive when it comes to how I want to color/style my hair. I have literally tried every color and cut you can think of, and am always unsure of what I want to do next.
