I just had an okay experience here - unsure that I'd return for a visit. The receptionist desk wasn't super friendly upon arrival so I had a feeling it would be subpar as a result. It's a really cute salon though, with plenty of free parking. For background, my regular stylist (at a different salon) called to reschedule my appointment two days prior because she was sick and couldn't get me in for another week - it happens. I purposely scheduled this appointment because of an upcoming event so I was hustling trying to find someone to do my roots, and possibly give me a trim, before my event in 3 days. Bella Salon contacted me quickly so I went with them. The color my stylist "matched" with my existing roots is much, much darker than my natural color, making my existing balayage - that still looked really good(!) - look like a total mishap. The application seemed very rushed (maybe because I sat in the lobby for 10 minutes after my appointment time) and then I was ushered to a heat lamp for 30 min. Well, she said it would be 20 minutes, but I sat there for 30 (when the lamp turned off automatically) while watching her do someone else's hair. She asked if I wanted a trim and I said, "if you have time" and she said she did. I didn't anticipate getting my haircut, thus, didn't include it in my initial inquiry. As we're walking back to the chair from the lamp, she noticed her next scheduled appointment waiting, and tells me he's 1 hour early. Then, as she's blow drying my hair, asks me when I last had a cut and tells me to save my money, that I don't need a cut. I appreciate this (her concern for my financial situation) but it definitely felt like she was trying to rush the service so she could get to the next client and complete her day. I had stains of hair dye all over my forehead when I left, too. $130 bucks (with a 20% tip) for 1 hour and not super stoked on the result. read more

I highly recommend this salon. My daughter had a not so great experience elsewhere and I had wanted to treat my daughter for her birthday. The salon was able to accommodate my daughter quickly and matched her to an amazing hair stylist, Jenesis. Jenesis listened to what my daughter wanted and I couldn't be happier with the haircut and partial balayage. It is absolutely stunning. He wasn't prepared for my arrival and had to look for the right comb/brush/ beads, which added another 15 minutes to my already tedious appointment with Mr. Personality. Jenn was amazing, I found my new "fo-to" for Austin and will even go out of my way to be here when I can plan my own schedule. Considering I cut my own hair, after a "reputable" salon I chose while traveling left me with an odd triangle curly cut (unless it's intended it's a bad plan, and she even asked me how to fix it - NOT Jenn, the girl from the "other" place). This salon is great and Candace is AMAZING!! I went in to do the opposite of most women my age - I wanted to go from 30 years of dyed red hair to my natural gray - with a twist. I wanted to have a sassy transition by adding purple streaks and dark gray lowlights. Nothing like a good challenge! This might normally be a two or three phase process , but Candace did it in one trip. It turned out just the way I envisioned it (not frequently an easy feat) and I love it. I would have recommended but I will tell you their prices are through the roof. Top that off with staff not being on time and no updates. But they are quick to let you know you are late and tell you they want to charge you if you leave/don't show up. While yes - if you can actually get into the stylist - they are great. My time is just as valuable and sitting and having to ask for updates when your stylist is 30 minutes plus late is unacceptable. Won't be going back, not worth the money when they are wasting my time and hire poor staff to take care of their high paying customers. read more

I was so wowed by the reviews for this salon that I moved my flight home by a day and paid an extra night at a hotel to get the appointment they had available. I have really curly hair and finding a place that can do curly hair well is no small feat. One star because: --I arrived at 1:15 for a 1:30 appt. checked in. --Waited --Waited more --At 2pm, I went up to the front desk person to ask what was going on and she said my stylist WASNT EVEN THERE YET. She offered 15% off my next booking, which does me no good because I was there visiting and won't be in Austin for at least a year. What perplexes me the most is why the front desk person didn't come over to me sooner to say that the stylist wasn't there and was on her way? Why left me wait for FORTY-FIVE minutes? I was talking to a friend on the phone, so maybe she thought I hadn't noticed? I usually get my hair cut at the beginning of every summer but due to lockdown, I needed to wait until it was okay again. I felt very safe at this salon. Everyone had masks, everything was sanitized and set up to be socially distant. Alexandria cut my hair and I love my new hair! It feels so light and healthy! I'm just in town for a month and Alexandria also gave me great tips for places to visit while in town. My long mop got a much needed cut and she blew me away with how well she listened to what I wanted and asked questions to make sure to get it right. So, I've been coming to Bella since I was in college, and it's always been my favorite salon even when I've lived in other places. Steven has been styling my hair for the past year, and believe me, he can work magic! My hair is a light brown that I like to have lightened substantially, and it can turn a little brassy! Steven has pretty much fixed that issue for me, which is wonderful in and of itself, but he also does root retouches in between highlights that look very polished and natural.
