On January 30, 2023, I contacted Joe Miller of MJM Restoration regarding siding work for one of my…read moreproperties. Prior to contacting Mr. Miller, I had already selected the necessary materials, as the project had initially been scheduled with another contractor at a lower cost. However, due to a personal emergency, that contractor was unable to proceed with the work. Because the repairs were being handled through an insurance claim, I needed to secure a replacement contractor promptly. Although MJM Restoration had not been specifically recommended to me, I was informed that the company performed similar services. During this process, my State Farm adjuster, Roderick, remained actively involved. He conducted a site visit and observed that no work had been initiated, despite representations made by Mr. Miller indicating otherwise. It was later determined that MJM Restoration was not properly registered to conduct business within the Village of Peotone and had not obtained the required licensing or permits at the time work was purportedly scheduled to begin. On February 21, 2023, I paid Mr. Miller a cash deposit in the amount of $7,550.00. Due to concerns I had at the time regarding the transaction, I arranged to meet him at Starbucks so the exchange would be documented by surveillance cameras. My insurance adjuster specifically advised against releasing funds prior to completion of the work and expressed concerns regarding the contractor's reliability. In addition, State Farm declined to release supplemental insurance funds to MJM Restoration because the company had not been approved. Mr. Miller did not obtain the required Village permit until March 27, 2023, approximately four weeks after receiving the cash deposit. The contracted work, specifically the work related to the columns, was never completed. As a result, Mr. Miller still owes me $482.78 from the deposit paid. Over the past three years, I have made multiple attempts to recover these funds and resolve the matter; however, despite repeated assurances, no reimbursement has been provided. Additionally, when I informed Mr. Miller of my intent to contact the Better Business Bureau regarding this matter, he responded with a physical threat. I recently contacted local law enforcement but was advised that, due to the amount of time that has elapsed and the absence of a formal complaint filed at the time of the incident, no action can currently be taken. I have also contacted the Better Business Bureau to request that his A+ rating be reviewed and removed, as I do not believe a business operating in this manner deserves such a rating.

It takes about 6-8 weeks once you order. We had problems with our install on 2 of the trips. The second install the guy left caulk in 2 spots on our hardwood floor. We never called about this because we are planning to resand them. This is very careless on his part because he did have tarps down. The 3rd install the guy who put one of the octagons in never leveled the window. So as they were ready to leave and my husband checked the work it was obviously off center without even placing a level. The guy fixed it before he left. Now that the work is done, we are happy.
