Went here for a late Father's Day dinner on Monday. Service was great, the restaurant Manager set us and took our drink orders because the server was with a large group. The alcoholic drinks were very good. The Cheesy pull apart bread was really good as well as the twice cooked fries. The kids had chicken tenders coated in corn flakes, and a grill cheese cooked with Texas toast which was great I had the steak au poivre, the steak was a little too fatty, but overall it had good flavor. My fiance had the pan roasted Walleye, that was really good. The strawberry bread pudding was really good and the ice cream sundae was nice. They mistakenly gave us Mac and cheese instead of the grilled cheese. They cover the cost for both which was really cool. The Mac and cheese had great flavor. The restaurant itself is really nice. The bathrooms are part of the hotel. Very clean though

Making a reservation was super easy and the inside ambiance is so intimate. I came for a date night, but I could totally see a really fun girls night out here. I read some reviews before ordering and the reviews for food recs were spot on! The Parker Rolls were so delicious - a pretzel roll with 3 creamy butter options. And there was plenty of butter so you don't run out of it before you finish your rolls (big win!). I got the sweet corn cavatelli and my hubs got the lamb shoulder. Both were really yummy. I love that the cavatelli has a little spice to it as it really elevated that flavor profile. Definitely will be back! Really loved the experience and will stop by for post-dinner drinks sometime :)

I started with the French Onion Soup, and it was pretty good. Compared to some of the other French Onion soups I've tried lately. This one was definitely much better and satisfying. We both ordered the 6 oz Filet, and for the table we shared the Parmesan Risotto and Broccoli. I liked both sides the brocolli was cooked right and the rissoto was fine but maybe more of a mush. My husband also decided to be adventurous and tried the Escargot--turns out snails are definitely not his thing . What really impressed me was that our server noticed he didn't enjoy them and kindly checked if they could be remove from the bill. That was incredibly nice and really stood out. It's extremely noisy, and the tables are very close together. We had to listen to a little boy watching cartoons on his phone the entire evening, which was NOT what I was planning for our 25th anniversary dinner. Touching on our anniversary, I called and made a reservation 3 weeks prior and begged the host on the phone to put us in a quiet corner, not in the middle of the room. I had very special plans and was going to present my wife with a beautiful new diamond ring to replace the one she got 15 years ago on our 10th. When we arrived, we were placed at a very small table right smack in the middle of the room!!! I asked the host when she tried to seat us if she could please put us in the corner table, which was vacant, and was told no, this is the best table we can give you. I was NOT HAPPY!!! Completely ruined every plan I had. We worked through the table location and made the best of what we were given. The waiter was very polite and professional and took very good care of us. The food was delicious and despite the table location, it was an awesome evening. I will say this to anybody reading... do NOT go here if you're looking for a quiet romantic evening. It's not the place. Otherwise... 100% recommended!!!!

There is a reason 6Smith is busy. We made a reservation for the patio and even in 90 degree weather…read moreit was comfortable. They have big umbrellas, fans and the water to keep things cool. The most uncomfortable thing is finding a place to park. If you can't find a spot in the lot, tracking down a street spot that isn't only 1 hour can be a challenge or a bit of a walk. We started with cocktails and Bread is Life appetizer (5/5). Bread is indeed life. We needed two baguettes to eat the three butters/sauces. The whipped ricotta and honey was my favorite, but the chimichurri was a close second. For entrees we split the Beet and Watermelon King Salmon Salad (3/5), A Fat Burger (5/5), Chilled Lobster Roll (4/5), and the Spicy Lobster Mac and Cheese (5/5). The salad was good, but the salmon didn't have enough seasoning for me. It's also more of a traditional watermelon salad vs lettuce salad. The lobster roll was good, but of course mostly bread. It was a hardy sandwich and filled more than other restaurants. The burger was in fact fat, cheesy and juicy. The sandwiches come with hand cut fries (5/5) and an aioli. While the Mac and cheese says it's spicy, it's more of a Minnesota spice. It's a shareable portion, but no more than 3 people if they have other food. For dessert we ordered the Mud Moon Pie (4/5). When they say it's served with a knife they mean it. The portion size is huge! Like 6-12 people could eat on it. We ended up sharing with the table next to us. We were warned it was shareable, but I wish there would have been a smaller portion option to select. We felt so wasteful not being able to eat even half of it. We loved our server. We never felt rushed, our water glasses were never empty and she split the bill with our individual dishes and then split the shared items (I love when they do this vs giving us one bill). While the prices are a little high, the portion sizes and quality of food make it worth it.

Be prepared if you go at dinner time parking will be busy and slightly hard to come by. If you find a spot, take it! We had a reservation, but I don't think we really needed one. We sat in the bar area. The decor was absolutely beautiful. I loved the vibe and being able to see the wood fire pizza oven. We ordered Burrata for the table and ended up needing an additional order of bread. The dip to bread ratio is always off. The burrata was more creamy rather than a ball of cheese. I really enjoyed the kumquat with it, but wish there were more of them. We also ordered crispy Brussels sprouts for the table. I love a Brussels sprouts. These were perfectly cooked and well seasoned. I ordered the Mafaldini Cacio E Pepe. It really was pepper forward and I wasn't mad about it at all. I thought the serving size could have fed two people, especially if you are sharing other items. A couple things that I was not prepared for. This is a "dinner should take hours" type of establishment. We were picking at the appetizer and the server had to come over and ask if we were done and if she should put in the order for our entrees. Meanwhile we were still eating the appetizer because we thought we were waiting for the entrees. And then when it came time for the check and getting boxes for left overs they will take your food and box it up for you. I didn't realize this when I asked for the check and someone's food was taken as she was mid bite (oops). They also did one check for three people and never asked if we wanted to split the bill in any sort of way. They also only gave us one bag for our left overs, even though all of us had food to takeaway.

It was not great. The problem? I think it was because owner/chef Rene Ruiz Olivar was acting as waiter, not chef. We gave Sr. Ruiz the freedom to choose our tapas, with one exception, the black ink pasta with scallops and shrimp (Tinta Negra) that reviewers have raved about. He said, no problema--he would serve it. Then he must have forgotten because we never got it. The first tapa served, almond-crusted manchego (Almendrado), was plated prettily and was delicious but oh-so-sweet. It was an odd choice for a starter, would have been better as the finale in case nobody ordered dessert. Soon came a lamb tapa (Cordero). The lamb chops' quality was uncertain as the meat was severely overcooked. El Bodegon's langoustines (Gambas al Ajillo) had given every bit of their sea flavor to the sauce, which was magnificent, we all agreed. But where were the dish's promised mussels, the rice? One shared plate, a beef tenderloin tapa (Carne Brava), had apparently lingered too long in the kitchen--the meat was nearly cold. I adore papas bravas (Patatas Bravas). I must have had the dish a dozen times or more during my last trip to Spain, in 2017, when I visited friends who live in Ronda. During my six-week stay, we toured Andalucia, staying at hotels in large cities and visiting small towns. I also spent time sola in Madrid and Barcelona. Unlike in Spain, El Bodegon's potatoes were diced to death. Never in Spain have I ever had patatas bravas that were not substantial in size. All in all, I found the vegetables accompanying the tapas unrecognizable except for the tiny Brussels sprouts. The rest seemed chopped up or stirred to pieces in the pan. Some of my friends had churros for their dessert. They deemed them appropriately hot and tasty. My dessert was cheesecake torte, decked out with a candle as it was my 90th birthday. The torte was a gold-star winner. It was absolutely delicious, its plating the most successful of the evening. It was so perfect it almost made up for the sub-par tapas that preceded it. One of us had a view of the kitchen from his seat at the table. He saw a man other than the chef/owner doing the cooking. Was he a trainee? Did Sr. Ruiz help with the plating? God knows he didn't have a lot patrons to contend with in his role as waiter. It was a slow weeknight, and there were never more than four tables occupied. I sincerely regret that our time at El Bodegon differs from so many reviewers. Like them, I want to see Sr. Ruiz's little restaurant succeed. He has a hard row to hoe, and I hope a disappointing dinner like ours does not befall anyone else going forward.

This is it--the perfect place for a summer meal. From the amazing food and great service (thanks,…read moreTheresa!) to the stellar patio, Layline delivers an absolutely amazing experience. If I had found this place earlier this summer, I probably would have spent many happy evenings here. (I truly can't emphasize how well this restaurant captures summer vibes.) The menu was great and ticked all the boxes, taking advantage of the bounty and mood of the season. For our starters, we ordered the arancini and the johnnycake. Both were delicious. The arincini was crispy on the outside and oozed with creamy cheese. The romesco sauce complemented it perfectly. The johnnycake was fluffy and delicious and had the perfect balance of sweet and salty (don't skip the jalapeño infused maple syrup--it isn't spicy; it's just an extension of the sweet and savory balance). For our salads/veggies, we split the last three on the menu: the cauliflower, the Brussels sprouts, and the watermelon salad. My friends, don't skip any one of these. The cauliflower is a cauliflower steak that is perfectly cooked (be sure you get a lovely toasty bit!) and made for delicious savory-salty-tangy mouthful with its tomatoes and onions. Doenjang and tahini? Heck yes! The sprouts were covered in a spectacular mojo verde (imagine what pesto would be if it were Indian and you'd not be far off) that was a creative and absolutely apt pairing. As for the watermelon salad, it was all summer: chunks of watermelon, crumbles of feta, basil, hazelnut, and rings of Calabrian chili. It tasted exactly like relaxing on the porch with your most sophisticated but still totally chill bestie. For my main, I ordered the linguine pomodoro e vodka. Dude. It was so stinking good. I love a good tomato sauce, and this one did not disappoint. Crispy breadcrumbs? Yes. Mint and basil? Yes and yes. Chili oil? Heck yeah! This packed a punch and was an absolutely glorious foil for the burrata. As for dessert, I went for the crème brûlée. It was really good! It was rich and creamy (almost buttery) and absolutely chock-full of vanilla bean. Very good indeed.
