You do have to enter the dock by walking past the guard at the entrance. There is both patio and indoor seating. The service was great. It was only topped by the food. The hollandaise sauce was excellent. The portion size was good. I was able to trade out for gluten free bread which was nice. The weather was great so it was nice to watch the boats, the water go by while enjoying breakfast. Definitely worth a stop for breakfast.

This place kept getting recommended on all the tours we went on so because of that I just knew that it had to be some tourist trap that probably wasn't even great but boy was I wrong! This is the best lobster roll ever and I don't even normally like cold lobster rolls I prefer the warm style. I always mix up the state names so that's why I didn't say which but this is a cold lobster roll and it was delicious. The pasta salad was also very good. The staff were friendly but very slow at the end it took forever to get the check back. Overall relaxing vibes and I would return when back in Newport

Honestly, this wasn't our first choice for breakfast. We originally planned to go somewhere else, but that location had a bunch of emergency vehicles outside, so we decided to head to Belle's instead--and I'm so glad we did. To get there, you walk through a shipyard where you can see boats and yachts being serviced, which I thought was pretty cool. The hostess greeted us warmly and seated us outside. With the weather being nice, we had views of the harbor, the boats, and the bridge. Our server was also incredibly friendly and brought our coffees out quickly. The food here was excellent. I had the corned beef hash with eggs over easy--solid choice. But the real standout was wifey's dish: Belle's Benedicts with crab cakes. The crab cakes were honestly some of the best we've had in a long time. If you're in the area and looking for a great spot for breakfast, definitely check out Belle's.

Service: nothing necessarily special about it, we waited about 20 minutes to get seated for four during a Saturday at 1PM which if you ask me that's not bad at all. Food: honestly super good, they also had an option of a lobster roll for $34 which I personally think is cheap in comparison to spots in Boston etc Ambiance: we were sitting outside next to the water it was honestly so beautiful I would definitely come again!

Coffee was so good! It was nice and smooth. I had a make your own omelette with peppers, onion and American cheese. Everything tasted fresh. It was packed with tiny peppers, and the perfect amount of onion. I was happy with the amount of cheese, others might want more. The English muffin was toasted perfectly with lots of buttery goodness. Home fries were very flavorful, just a few peppers and onions mixed in, perfectly cooked. Fruit was nice and fresh. Seating is all outdoors, under tents. Waits can be really long, but on a Monday morning at 10 ish, it was less than 5 minutes for the two of us. Staff was friendly and attentive!

Spending the weekend in Newport and swung by for a late breakfast/early lunch. I was relieved to discover that although their breakfast specials only go until 11am, breakfast and lunch are both served all day! :) We arrived around 1pm, and the wait time was about 35 minutes. Not a problem as there's shaded areas to sit or walk around while you wait. There's both indoor and outdoor seating- outdoors you're literally immersed in the harbor and eating like 20 feet from boats and the ocean! Food was so tasty- my sister kept raving about the Shipyard Sandwich. The croissant was soft/warm/flaky and the eggs were cooked perfectly (although she wished the yolk was a little runnier). The salad has breaded chicken nestled warmly under the bed of greens! Perfectly crispy, the capers added a great bunch of flavor, and the tomatoes added a nice touch. The burger was soft and juicy, and cooked exactly how I wanted. The mimosa was delicious, but quite small for $14. The glass wasn't even filled up halfway.

Belles in Newport is such a special spot! The breakfast is absolutely amazing, and the ambiance is unbeatable--being right in a shipyard gives it such a unique and charming coastal vibe. I had the French toast, which was delicious and perfectly done, and paired it with a mimosa that was just as great. Everything from the food to the setting makes this place a must-visit when you're in Newport. Can't wait to come back!

My family and I had a great experience at Bell's Café in Newport. We waited 45 minutes to be seated since they do not take reservations. And once we had ordered our food, it took about thirtyish minutes to arrive to the table. The ambience and outdoor scenery Was great! Service staff hosts and bar staff were also pleasant. The food was good, nothing to write home about, but definitely the Newport vibe. And the prices were very reasonable, especially for the area that it's in. Keep in mind that they do not have traditional style parking so you either have to park using the street meters or find a day rate lot. Overall, the best things about bells Café, where the staff and the scenery !

Came here on recommendation from wyndham. Great location. Good menu options, very friendly service. I ordered a make your own omlette with cheese, bacon, mushrooms and spinach, came with home potatoes (omg these were amazong) and im not big on them and toast. Had coffee. My mom ordered lobster Benedict and it was amazing. She had iced coffee. We will be back

What a spot! Walking in, the views were lovely and the seating areas were so chic. The staff were super friendly even while they were busy. Then, to top it all off, our brunch was so yummy. Baby was happy with his pancakes, and we were with the crab cake benedict and yardbird panini. But my favorite part of the meal? The french toast muffin- even had to grab one to go!

Cute brunch place but tad on the pricier side. It's nice to be near the waterfront though. The crab ($40) and lobster ($50) Benedict / roll was tasty!

This was our favorite breakfast spot while in Newport! Located in the Marina and you actually get to walk through the boat section! So fun seeing how large boats are out of water and up close! There was a long wait, we waited for 1 hr 15 mins but honestly worth it. There are couches to hang while waiting and the weather was perfect so we were not complaining! We got to watch a few boat teams prep and set sail, so cool seeing that! The food all looked amazing watching everyone's come out! We already knew what we wanted by the time we sat down lol Pancakes were great and the Lox sandwich hit the spot! We also had a burger which was cooked just right. Even though the wait was long the hostess was keeping us updated and staff was all very nice and efficient! Overall great experience!

We took her advice and yes this place was quaint, inviting and very busy but it was a holiday in A historic Newport! We waited briefly to sit outdoors in the bright morning sun which was very close to the 12 O'Clock time! We did sit for a long while before being approached even for coffee or welcoming us but we all understood it was busy for 1 to handle maybe 7 tables that were filled! But, at some point I had to get up and go inside to politely say we had been waiting longer than one should expect! A moment or two our waitress came to take our beverage order and then after enjoying our coffee she came to take our Breakfast order, I chose the Holiday Special Omelette, which were two listed! The Shrimp and Prosciutto Omelette with Avocado sounded Amazing so that was my Choice! We all ordered! When it all arrived we took photos of each and they all looked very tasty! Anticipating my breakfast I delved into my Omelette and ate a bite and it was very tasty, took another bite still very tasty.....I paused and wondered " Where is the Shrimp and Prosciutto and Avocado?" I told my family member, I don't see either, we joked she said "maybe it's chopped... ". So, I flagged the waitress and asked her if this is what I ordered and she said, " She made a mistake thinking there were only one Special Omelette and apologized and will have one made immediately! I said Ok, she left and we joked about the Staff and then THE OMELETTE ARRIVED! It was spectacular looking and even better tasting! Unfortunately, my family already finished but it was OK! We sat still enjoying more coffee and then without being aware accidentally spilled coffee on my families slacks but we chose NOT to mention it! It was obviously this Waitress should have had additional help to take care of the outside guests! She was polite and did her best but she was overwhelmed! She brought the Check and she did mention she would remove my Omelette from the Bill as a courtesy for the error! That was acceptable and nice of this Cafe to do that! The Food was Excellent The Location outside was Nice The Service was a comedy of errors! The Day was Still wonderful!

As noted above we have eaten here in the past. We have dined with large as well as small groups and have always been pleased. The place is beautiful, especially in the summer. The outdoor patio bar boasts a great view of Green End Pond. A great place to grab a drink and an appetizer. We started out on the patio and returned later for dinner. Based on our sub par experience the night before (see prior review) I was committed to having a great meal. We were not disappointed. I started with the clam chowder. Delicious. Flavorful and loaded with clams. My wife opted for the lobster bisque In an effort to negate the lousy lobster bisque she had on the previous night. Mission accomplished. She described it as buttery and creamy. Essentially the perfect bisque flavor. Contained within the bisque was a tremendous chunk of delicious lobster meat . For dinner, I chose the baked stuffed shrimp. It was delicious. Cooked to perfection with delicious stuffing, rice, pilaf, and broccoli. My only complaint is that I believe there should be more than 4 shrimp at this price. My wife selected the Pasta Bolognese. A dish that she has had and several other restaurants in several states and she ranked this right at the top of the list. Plenty of beef and pork combined with a tasty Italian sauce. When in the Newport area I suggest you skip the over hyped restaurants and head to Johnny's for a delicious meal with great atmosphere.

We just had another fabulous dinner at Brick Alley Pub & Restaurant--our second time dining here…read moresince last fall, and it was just as wonderful as we remembered. We arrived a little early for our 4:00 p.m. reservation, and the place was already packed. While we waited by the bar, a very nice waitress took our drink order--a lemon drop martini, beautifully crafted, well-balanced, and pleasantly strong. We were seated shortly after and, of course, ordered another. (Both times, I took several sips before remembering to take a photo!) Our waitress, Mikela, was truly lovely--sincere, sweet, and very courteous. She was attentive throughout the meal without ever being intrusive, which made the experience feel relaxed and effortless. At the end, I told her I wished I could give her 6 stars, but Yelp only allows 5. For dinner, we both ordered the seared rare ahi tuna steak. I had mine with garlic bread, while my husband chose mashed potatoes. I also added the $9.95 salad buffet, which is such a great deal--you definitely won't leave hungry. I especially love their buffet-style salad bar, which offers nearly every option one could want. Both of our ahi tuna steaks were fantastic--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Once again, I dug into my tuna before remembering to take a photo! We finished the meal with a cheesecake to share--another delicious ending to a wonderful dinner. We're already planning our next visit--there are still so many dishes and drinks we'd love to try.

I loved everything about this restaurant except one thing, which I'll explain, and which caused 5…read morestars to become 4 stars (I wish I could just knock off a half star but that's not how it works, I guess): My next door neighbor Judi has a hobby of catching the Newport ferry from Providence, sometimes spending a few hours and coming back, or just staying on the boat and heading back, just so she can lean back in a seat and soak up the sun. Lately she'd been telling me about a chocolate martini from The Brick Alley Pub & Restaurant, and being the martini and chocolate fan that I am, I simply had to experience it. So I finally got a day when I could join her on a trip, and so we went there on Labor Day. Once there, we walked right in at 11:30 am, and were seated immediately. The interior is fun and interesting -- antique this and that, including a huge iron door that looks like it went to a furnace, and had embossed lettering, I believe it was Newport Highschool. Perhaps the restaurant location is where the HS coal room was originally??? Anyway, one the way to the table, the hostess said something about the soup and salad bar being over there to my right, and so I went to check it out, and once I took a gander inside the two soup containers, I grabbed a bowl of Portuguese Kale Soup and brought it to the table. Judi said "That's all you're gonna get?" And I said "Of course not, I'll grab some salad and maybe get a sandwich or something." "Oh" she said, and then got up to check out the soup and salad bar herself. Meanwhile as I'm slurping the delicious, heart y soup, loaded with chourico, potatoes, carrots, kale, beans, etc., I'm perusing the menu and I notice that it says that if you purchase a sandwich of $9 or more then you get the soup and salad bar for $10, and then the soup and salad bar alone was $18. Okay, so perhaps I just wasn't thinking about the world in which I now live that basically has you paying for the bread basket you might get served. But again, the hostess just basically slurred out something about the soup and salad bar and my brain heard that it was complimentary. I honestly have to wonder if that's part of the trick(?) to get you to go for it, and not realize that it's considered a meal in itself, and then you order a sandwich or whatever, and now you're paying twice the amount you thought you'd be paying, but hey, it's Newport and people are spending $40 on a stupid baseball cap. And so, you know, if you end up having to pay a bit too much at a restaurant, you don't make a scene, you just say "Yeah, I meant to do that". Okay, I'm trying not to be sardonic here, trying not to sound like one of those "everybody's out to get me" kind of folks, so I'll just shut up at this point, on this particular point. I just hope that the owners and/or managers will inform the hostess to be a bit more clear on what the soup and salad bar actually means. That'd be nice. So there was no way I was buying a sandwich to go along with the soup and salad bar -- I simply cannot eat as much as I did when I was in my 20's and couldn't gain a pound if I ate all day long. I was able to (slightly) save face once Judi went for the soup and salad bar herself and was satisfied with the freshness and deliciousness thereof. But the piece de resistance, the very reason we both came to this establishment in the first place ... the chocolate martini! So this martini looks nothing like you'd expect as clear as water. I believe it's got a vodka base, and then some creme de cocoa, and is showered in grated chocolate flakes. It was absolutely splendid! Nice and boozy without being overpowering, and the flavor was amazing. And then for some strange reason, Judi is looking at the dessert menu. She reads of a few of them, asking me if I'd like something like that. I keep saying "I'm pretty full Jude", but she was persistent. She especially was taken with the Ghirardelli Fudge Brownie with 4 Scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream. She said "What if we can get them to split it in half on two separate plates?" I said "Ohhhhkaayyyyy..." And our waitress said "Absolutely!" She came back with two large portions (see attached photo ... just remember, that's a picture of HALF of the dessert serving!). Oh my word! It was large and quite yummy. A nice, crunchy and soft brownie made with Ghirardelli chocolate, with plenty of walnuts therein, two lovely scoops of ice cream, all drizzled with chocolate sauce. A splendid way to cap it all off. So I'd go back again, just with the knowledge that it's EITHER the soup and salad bar OR a sammich, at least for a guy my age and size and appetite. But definitely for that lovely chocolate martini ... and maybe that fudge brownie to make it complete :)
