Six days prior to leaving the country for my daughter's wedding, I visited Erika's store to have a…read moreblazer's sleeves lengthened. I dropped it off to her on Thursday, 10/9/25, explaining that I was flying out of the country for the wedding the following Wednesday. She accepted the job and assured me that my blazer would be ready on Saturday, 10/11/25, by 12:00 pm, She explained that she was closed on that following Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday of the following week. On Saturday, about a quarter til 12:00 PM, I arrived at the store to discover that the lights were off with no one present. I waited over an hour and made numerous attempts to contact her directly. I called several times, leaving voice messages and text messages, but received no response for over 2 weeks. In summary, I did not receive my blazer for my daughter's special day. I was forced to find something else to wear which was an added stressor for my daughter and family. Today, over two weeks since I dropped my blazer off, I contacted Erika, who finally answered the phone. She informed me that due to limited parking and her inability to walk, the store was closed on Saturday. She never took accountability for failing to reach out to me, only mentioning that she had not checked her messages. She cavalierly mentioned that I could collect the blazer today and pay full price because she "completed the job". With business practices such as this, you might want to consider another seamstress; someone who is accountable for their work and fulfills the job on or before the agreed upon date. Erika displayed a complete lack of communication, unsuitable follow-up, unprofessionalism and inconsideration.

Ive been using Christine for a while off and on but after todays ordeal NEVER AGAIN. 5 Years ago…read moreThere was an issue with my payment as I paid with my credit card and Christine never marked my claim stub as paid.( so I didnt notice til later). She gets done with my order then calls me and says that I still owed her. Long story short I paid it again to get my things then left. I tried taking my CC statement back to them but again...alot of back and forth. That was the first issue... This time...I dropped off 2 pair of Jeans to be altered on Wednsday with her BF telling me to come back Saturday and they would be ready. So I pay ahead of time and this time I got my reciept along with PAID on the stub. I come back on Saturday only to find out my jeans havent even been touched yet and blamed it on having to go to the phone store and spend 5 hours. So she hurried up and grabbed them and did them while I waited. All I needed done was to have the jeans length taken up 2 inches. Well...she got one right!!! One pair are just fine while the other pair were cut so short they can now pass for Capri pants!!! Basically ruining a brand new pair of jeans. So not only am I out the money to have them altered...Im also out the money for the jeans as well with NO CHANCE of ever being refunded because it wasnt her fault( as she always says). THEN while there waiting to get my order done,another female customer came in and because somebody moved in the store their dog( a Chiuaua) started barking/snarling at myself and another person with the excuse given ( oh hes trying to protect her) FROM WHAT??? NOTHING HAPPENED!!! I have severe PTSD as did the other male customer that was there as we are both combat vets...I got triggered so bad that I had to leave before things escalated. Needless to say if its not one thing with this place its another and is NEVER EVER their fault. I think its time to find another seamstress. I in good concience cannot recommend this place to anyone.

Thankfully I was referred Chris who did an amazing job, quickly, and was so reasonable!! I've since referred all of my friends and soon to be brides here and will come back. Not only did she make me feel totally comfortable but also did an amazing job. She's also so fun and personable -- it was the experience that I was looking for. The services in the photo (for reference) were to take in the waist of the skirt, add sleeves, and hem what was probably 10 layers of fabric while reserving the train/fullness.

Alexandra's didn't have a ton of photos, but the language in previous reviews pointed me in their direction. The shop is co-located with a hair salon. I'm not sure if the hair salon keeps the same hours, but I posted a photo of Alexandra's hours here on Yelp. Double check before heading their way. They work SUPER hard to make alterations to your specifications. They will also make recommendations according to your garment's material(s) and what they have seen work and not work before. They have worked magic on my dresses, taken in jeans, and altered tops, hems, gowns, quilts, and more for me. They truly can do it all. The shop ladies are extremely friendly in a no-nonsense kind of way.....does that make sense? What I mean is - It seems like everyone in the area takes their items there, so they STAY busy. They have to stop working on their current project to help you, so it's usually less chit chat and more, "Go in and try it on." As I write this in 6/2025, I think the current return time os 8/2025. Keep in mind, June is right after prom season and right in the middle of wedding season. If I knew how to sew, I'd apply for part time basic work just to learn more from these ladies. The prices are reasonable. I always pay in cash as a nod to small business keeping more of monies earned. Lastly, check out my pictures of their seasonal "porch display." Most of the garments displayed are remnants of cloth these ladies fashioned into a dress. I KNOW the necklace paired with the winter dress was made with recycled buttons. I asked for a copy of the ticket which was met with "we don't do that". I found that odd but ok. I went at 3:30 Friday and the woman working initially could not find it. Her: Are you sure you didn't drop it off somewhere else Me: Positive it was here After a while she went through the stack of tickets and found the one for this jacket. Her: We'll at least now I know it's real but I still do not know where it is. She finally finds it, but not pressed. Me: OK I'll wait while someone presses it Her: Our presser is gone for the day She still made me pay the $15.00 even though they had not done the job. I get it home and guess what; the stains are still there Net - not done when promised - customer service was crazy bad - not pressed - stains not removed If there was a way to rate this place zero stars I'd do it. We took the dress to a reputable bridal shop for a second opinion, and they confirmed the straps were shortened far beyond standard measurements for that size. Most disturbingly, when the dress wouldn't zip due to the over-shortened straps, Michelle's professional advice was for my wife to go on a 'strict diet' to fit into the dress. We have provided side-by-side photographic proof of the error to the business, but they have refused a full refund. If you are a bride-to-be, please be aware that if a technical mistake is made here, you may be blamed for it and left with a damaged dress and no recourse. We have filed a formal complaint with the Illinois Attorney General.

Recently in an attic of our family home, I found a vintage dress my long-deceased grandmother, Oma,…read morelikely last wore in the roaring 20's. And it was in terrible shape; badly stained a dark streaked tea color, matted, frayed, and really almost unsalvagable in our view. I took it to Prime Service Cleaners in O'Fallon, always my family's go-to cleaner, and walked in with it. They immediately told me what I had already guessed; there was little chance this dress could withstand what it would take to clean it even if it were even possible to clean it. It would take a miracle. But the process was most likely to simply destroy the dress due to its delcate fabric and tassles. I asked them to try anyway and signed the release form. Today, we picked up that dress and to say I was positively stunned would be the understatement of the century. This dress now looks near-perfect, like a true museum piece. I can't even comprehend what took to make this piece come back to life. So thank you, thank you, thank you for your truly amazing masterful preservation of a family treasure.
