The receptionist was quick to pick up my call and gave me clear instructions on what to do from calling ASPCA poison control to drive over right away just in case. Once we arrived, we found a waiting room with about three other patients. In just a few minutes, I was greeted by a lovely nurse who took my pup to induce vomiting. They did end up getting the gum out but my dog still ended up needing to stay overnight for observation, dextrose drip to avoid hypoglycemia and to run periodic liver tests. After 12 hours they determined she was fit to go home. Everything from the attentiveness, warmth and care of the front desk attendants to the care of her three doctors Dr. Ahlgrim, Dr. Crawfis, and Dr. Sirr and the medical staff made me feel good about bringing her here and feeling comfortable leaving my dog in their care overnight. From what I understand, they are transparent with their pricing and competitive for this area. I do appreciate that they ask their patients to understand the financial obligations before committing to a treatment plan. It's not their fault, but I do feel sad for those who cannot afford treatment for their sweet little fur babies who might need it. My previous dog had a very good experience here when we had to say goodbye to her in 2018. We had a lot of time to be with her, and they even fed her a can of chicken even though I was certain she wouldn't eat it at that point, she ended up eating the entire bowl of chicken. We brought our beloved 7 year old corgi dog to the place as he had neck pain and we wanted to do a MRI. His heart rate was high as he was in pain and stressed. The initial nurses we met were very nice (only reason I am not giving a 1 star) and informative. They took Porky back and started doing tests. We sat there for a couple hours while they looked at him. Then Dr Johnson came and brought us back to talk about the situation. They said he was in a lot of pain and they wanted to keep him there overnight and do a MRI and more tests either later that day or the next morning. Then they worked up an estimate which came to like $7k not including the MRI just for x-rays, medicine and overnight stay. We have pet insurance for unexpected things like this and my dog is like my soul so we accepted and thought he would be in good hands. I asked to say goodbye to him and Dr Johnson said "you will definitely see him again, this is not life threatening." But, I still wanted to go back to say goodbye as we never leave him with strangers. He has back in a cage with IV tubes on him and he looked great. They were monitoring his vitals and you would think he would be in good hands. The lights are on full blast and there are tons of people and hurt/sick dogs and cats walking right by him all day I thought he would have a hard time sleeping or relaxing. But, I thought it's only one day and this is an emergency hospital that's one of the most expensive in the state with specialists and state of the art equipments. So I kissed him good bye and said "it's gonna be ok...I will be back tomorrow." Then we left. I had to call the Vet to get an update. She said he was doing good and on pain medications. They couldn't get him in for a $6k MRI that day but Dr Bebe said she would do it in the morning. This was at like 6pm the first night. We dropped him off at 7:30 am. Then my wife got a call from them while we were at dinner saying they need to give him steroids. We said ok if you think that is your recommendation. Then we get the call at 4:30 am and knew it wasn't good. They said Porky went into cardiac arrest and they are trying CPR. Then we both jump to get ready and drive straight to the hospital. They great us with an insincere "sorry but Porky didn't make it". Then we went into a room to see him. I was crying and holding him and not a minute later another Vet tech comes in with a brochure and promptly asks of which options we want to pay for in terms of cremation or if we want to bury him take him home. It wasn't 1 minute I shit you not and this lady is heartlessly trying to sell us options. We said our goodbyes to one of the best dogs I ever had. A 7 year old corgi who had horrible neck pain we thought was a disc issue. I felt like they put him on the back burner. I feel like the night crew was lackadaisical about doing their job. They probably deemed other dogs "more critical" all the while ours dies right under their noses waiting to get his MRI and possibly surgery. I will NEVER leave my dog unattended with another Vet again. I just do NOT trust them. There are some Vet employees I know truly do it for the love of animals and I know there are a lot of good vets. But, it's a business and most just want that money and are desensitized as they see sick/dead pets every day. I am not gonna tell you to go here or not to go here if your pet needs help. I am just telling my story. I am devastated and truly feel like I lost a part of my soul. I also believe the death of my dog was avoidable. I wish I never brought him here in the first place. I am finally at a point that I can bring myself to write a review after the passing of my sweet Sonya. After a 2 week battle with her not being able to eat or drink very much, it was suggested that we get some imaging done. Blue Pearl has that capability. They greeted us and got us into an exam room promptly. The doctor came in to perform an exam and listen to a short history. Dr Cao was so understanding and made us feel at ease. When something is happening with your pet child, this type of person is needed. She explained what the process was for the day. They had to call in an imaging tech to perform the imaging and the additional charge was explained. We left our sweet pup there and waited for the results. Later that evening we were told of the situation. The worst news possible, it was Lymphoma. Dr Cao once again was very understanding and comforted us with the options and consequences. All of the time remaining calm and compassionate. We ultimately had to make the worst decision i have had to make. With the help of Dr Cao, the choice of euthanasia was the best choice to end the suffering. As I write this i still tear up and relive that moment. We were shown to a nice comfortable room where the final beats from my sweet Sonya took place. I can only thank Dr Cao and Blue Pearl and Dr Cao for providing such care and compassion in a very solemn moment. If there are serious health issues for your pet, this is the place.to take them. The knowledge and compassion is the main reason for giving this establishment a five star rating for such a sad occasion. Blue Pearl cares about your fur baby. I was watching a friend's dog who had an acute issue come up. I called for advice and they recommended coming in. I got there and was pretty frantic since it wasn't my dog and I'd never encountered something like this with any of my own dogs. They got me right back to a room and we were seen in 35 minutes. Before Nugget went to see the surgeon, we were seen by another employee who reviewed his medical records with us and asked us to share all of our concerns and questions. This made me feel SO heard and seen and ensured they would know what to look for in the consult. Dr. Chambers met with us and was thorough, detailed, and empathetic. She gave us some options, her recommendations, and listened to every bit of concerns and questions. I feel good about the path forward we have chosen and also understand all the caveats and complications to this plan. After we met with Dr. Chambers, someone from reception walked us through potential pricing on all the options. She was super transparent, realistic, and gave us a great ballpark for the financial commitment, including places we could save some money. They were able to get Nugget in the next day for xrays and testing. It's never easy to leave your dog somewhere for the day, but they made me feel so confident. The nurse petted him, told him he was a good boy, and gently carried him back. When it was time to pick up, the nurses told me how they were all petting him and spending time with him and didn't want him to leave. This made me feel SO good. He responded with "how about I show you what the cost is?" and somehow he took that as my permission to give IV fluid and blood tests. No one told me they started the IV and blood testing. I had to ask TWICE to get my dog back. Not before vet had me sign another legal document that I won't sue them and before I know it, $592 total. I called on Thursday evening received the info of when to call back to get in the list for the next day. I called first thing at 7:00 and was told to bring my cat in. I only had to do paper work and waited about 10 min for her to be checked in. I met with a doctor who did an initial evaluation which was very thorough and got an estimate for the procedure. I paid the initial payment and went home to wait. I got a call about 7 hours later and was very impressed with the thoroughness of the doctor. Things I appreciated: - The pay transparency for the initial exam. I was uncertain if the issue with my pet was acute and needed to assess the seriousness and urgency of the issue, $225 seemed reasonable to put my mind at ease. - The waiting room was large, clean, and comfortable all things considered. - Staff were kind and welcoming to all visitors. - The vet was kind and professional. Annoyances: - The exceptionally long wait time, despite calling ahead, I waited 4+ hours; with no updates on timeframe and where I was in line-- there was a flow of patients but didn't feel untenable or chaotic. - While it's an emergency vet, the staff seemed to move very slow. - I observed staff confusion between a patient, the cost of services and the vet-- the payment seemed like a negotiation with haggling which seemed odd for health care, and a little unprofessional. The Main Concern: - My pet received an "exam"- which was a quick assessment by the vet, no tests, no stool sample, limited health history provided, and I was presented with an assuredly grave (terminal) diagnosis and two options for a temporary pallitive intervention which both felt to be very involved/ urgent/ and costly for the limited data used for diagnosis-- including the recommendation for immediate hospitalization costing well into the thousands of dollars. It's worth noting, my pet was mobile, and while unwell did not seem uncomfortable- and considering my initial concerns of the condition being acute were diagnosed as chronic and not immediately life threatening necessitating a stay at the vet. While I hope not intended, (assuming positivity here) the way in which the diagnosis, and care options (two different staff members) were presented felt like a fear mongering sales tactic to elect costly services that were potentially unnecessary, including upselling medication. This point is punctuated by the fact there was little information used to inform the diagnosis! I left distraught, exhausted, and overwhelmed by the upsetting diagnosis, the cost/ complexity of care options outlined in the quotes (10+ line items), , and a level of guilt for not electing either option despite the confidence of the professional recommendation. The Outcome: I was able to get a second opinion from another provider the next day-- (a thorough exam with blood/urine testing - $350) which thankfully debunked the initial (terminal) diagnosis, and provided a completely different causation for the symptoms, straightforward interventions (medicine/ fluids/ diet change) and a very promising prognosis (and WAY lower cost). My pet is doing great! While not every pet emergency will allow for second opinions, I do encourage anyone who patronizes BluePearl, to ask a lot of questions and trust their gut if something feels off. Based on many reviews here I am sure there have been great and pet life saving experiences. It took me few months to leave my review for this Pet Hospital because it was hard to think about after losing my cat . The staff and the doctor were so nice. I got there at 3 am when my cat Bob was crying so loud because of pain. They did done tests on him and gave him some medications but unfortunately his kidneys were failing and after I took Bob home I had ti bring him back to the hospital two night later to say bye to him at the age of 16 years old. Because I trusted that vet so much, I unknowingly lied to my dog. And to my husband. I recently found myself at Blue Pearl's emergency department with two of my dogs. Both were dealing with GI symptoms. We saw Dr. Kameyama and my Pittie mix was SO smitten with him. I have never seen her warm up to a vet so quickly. He sat on the floor with my pups to put them at ease, and she tried to climb onto his lap and was giving him kisses. Then when we were waiting in the lobby to pay and he was speaking with an another client, she did everything she could to try to go see him again. Not only were my dogs very comfortable with him, but he took a reasonable, conservative approach with their care and both of my dogs were feeling better by the next day with the treatments he recommended. No one wants to find themselves at the emergency vet, with two of their pets no less, but I'm grateful for the positive experience we had with Dr. Kameyama and the support staff at Blue Pearl. read more

We took our German Shepherd Dog to Blue Pearl in Kirkland at approximately 9 pm on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, due to concerns about an infection on his tail. I mentioned at least three times--twice to the vet assistant and once to the doctor--and wrote on the intake forms that I was concerned about possible necrosis at the tip of his tail. After the doctor examined his tail, she diagnosed an infection but stated there was no necrosis. I asked for confirmation, as I was surprised given the appearance of his tail, and she reiterated her assessment. We received antibiotics and cream and went home, assuming there was no immediate risk. During a scheduled appointment with our regular vet on Friday, he quickly identified necrosis and recommended amputation. The necrosis had spread from about 4 inches to approximately 12 inches and needed surgery immediately; otherwise, it would continue to spread. I was in shock to say the least, especially after having spent $600 on the emergency vet visit. The doctor had assured us the tail was fine and provided medication before sending us home. My GSD is laying beside me and is recovering from emergency surgery with a 4-inch nub that used to be a beautiful tail. On Friday afternoon, I called Blue Pearl and informed the receptionist of what occurred when I went to his primary Vet. She apologized and indicated that the Manager would call me back. I expressed interest in discussing solutions rather than revisiting the same information. As of Tuesday, March 4, 2025, I have not heard back from their manager. Given this situation, concerns are raised about the competency and responsiveness of this doctor. While perfection is unattainable, how an organization responds to errors reflects the quality of care provided to customers and their pets. I generally avoid public criticism and negative reviews. However, I provided them with an opportunity to address the issue constructively, but they chose to disregard it. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this facility due to its lack of concern, follow-up, and support to their customers and pet. read more

These people killed my beautiful Lab! I brought her in for a biopsy on a lump in her throat based on another vet's recommendation. She was 7. I even told them she was very timid and to put her out for the procedure, which they did not. My guess is they held down my 75# dog for the procedure and she got scared and fought them causing the needle to move into the throat. The day after she got home we went out potty. There are tree roots next to my home and she walked over them and literally fell over onto her side, her back legs unable to navigate the unevenness. Has anyone ever seen a dog fall over? It is so awful to witness. This continued for a couple of weeks jumping out of my car when we'd go swimming, etc. At one point it elicited crying from her she was so scared. I called this horrible place and asked them what they did to my otherwise healthy dog, ending the call with 'how do you sleep at night?' By the time she reached 10, she started to gag a lot. I found a non-equity owned vet in my area who is wonderful. She suggested a scope be done, and the results showed her larynx was 100% dead on one side and 80% loss on the other. She virtually had no oxygen flow. Had I continued to swim her she would likely have drowned in front of me as the vet told me to not let her pant. She suffered immensely due to this equity-owned hospital's negligence. Everything from the time we brought my 6 year old Dachshund in for a surgical evaluation for IVDD went smoothly. Dr. Bobby did a wonderful job on Lola's surgery. The staff was amazing and were able to answer all questions. The only downside is the surgery was $12,000! Luckily I was able to retrieve some with insurance. I took my dog in tonight to Blue Pearl in Kirkland because he was not only limping but would not bear any weight on his left leg. He saw his regular vet today for a routine checkup and vaccines so it was a coincidence that he was limping upon arrival. His regular vet only had time to quickly examine his leg, but could not determine the cause. She suspects a cruciate ligament injury, but was uncertain without an x-ray and could not do one for at least a couple of days. Due to a past hawk injury on the same leg, I contacted his previous surgeon who suggested I try to get in somewhere to have an x-ray done prior to their consultation, which is a week and a half away. Looking for answers as to why my dog was limping and in pain, I was able to call and get into SVS/Blue Pearl in Kirkland. Enter Dr. (Monica?) Johnson who very condescendingly sent us away. She wouldn't even look at him, she said her notes said it was a "slight" limp which I said if you could just look at him, you could see he was not bearing any weight on the leg whatsoever. She wanted nothing to do with it. It was the most weird, unprofessional vet visit ever. I personally feel it was very negligent on her part as an emergency vet to not even allow him to stand up so she could see. She went on to say it was going to cost $250 just for her to "touch" him. I didn't care about the money otherwise I wouldn't have taken him there! Dr. Johnson had the strangest behavior and was adamant about not wanting to help him. She was quite snarky about the fact that another vet had already seen him so there wasn't much she could do. I understood that but I wanted an X-ray so that we could know sooner rather than later what was actually going on. I would think that having the facts could change the path of treatment. No? She wasn't going to help us so I told her she was being weird and got up and walked out of there with my dog hobbling on three legs. I don't know what happened to this place but my experience today with Dr. Johnson was absolutely terrible and nothing like what I've experienced in the past. This place used to be stellar, but now I am not sure I would trust taking my beloved pet there ever again. read more

I wish I could give this place more stars but they are just too expensive. we had to put a couple of our pets down and 1 came to blue pearl and another went to our local vet whom we actually thought would give us more intimate care. I also joined my dad in taking his pet to blue pearl to put him down. they give you time with your pet in a private room with dim lights and relaxing water feature. give you as much time as you need before and after. they are very caring, thoughtful and explain the procedure. during covid times they allowed both my husband and I to send our dog over the rainbow Bridge. my local vet made me wait in the lobby, fumbled with the shot, I could hear her laughing through the door so for some reason I thought they did not go through with it and then she had me walk into a scene with my dog splayed out on the floor. so for euthanization I have only great things to say about svc. my dog had to get double ccl surgery and I was quoted 6-8k per knee at svc while I have every confidence that this vet knew what they were doing and gave me all of the options, they made room on their calendar to get her in ASAP to accommodate my schedule, we ended up finding a vet in idaho that did both knees for 6k. the cost alone is the only reason for my 4 star review. read more

We have taken our older dog here for specialty care from two different specialists. Unfortunately, the cardiologist left and they have not hired a replacement. The specialist helped extend my dog's life when our primary vet had no clue about a treatment plan. They are very expensive and tests that the regular vet can perform are much higher here. They do consults via email and phone once you are an established patient and can have the tests performed at your primary vet's office. read more

We were very happy with our dog's knee surgery results. The vet was great. We live so far away it was hard to get to the facility so did use our local vet for some issues. The cost is over the top I must admit. Not sure how most people can afford to have these surgeries done. They also do not have any accommodations for senior discounts or financial aid it appears. read more

We couldn't be more thrilled with Blue Pearl Kirkland! They have taken such excellent care of our fur baby, Jackson. Unfortunately, he had a 10-day stay with two major surgeries. EVERYONE was so genuinely kind and extremely caring. Their communication was absolutely fantastic. We received three calls a day with detailed updates. AND they would let us see him with ease. In fact, they encouraged it. They also dealt directly with our pet insurance which was so helpful and created less stress. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. I called due to a major wound between my dog's shoulders that was clearly infected, bleeding, oozing pus and swollen 5 inches in diameter under the skin. I knew it was a raging bacterial infection. Described symptoms and when I called they told me they cannot see my dog. They said to find help elsewhere and gave me a run around that for this type of infection they would need to sedate my dog and were short staffed so no one could sedate her. They said any hospital you take her to would say the same thing. They then gave me the number to call for their downtown Seattle office which I'm nowhere near to try them. I asked well you just said anyone would need to sedate her so do they have sedation capabilities? They said they had no idea and all they can do is give me a number to call. I told them well I can find that on Google. They also showed no compassion and answer the phone like a robot. Don't even let me talk before acting like a drill sergeant - no hi but straight to a robot style one word questions. I then went to another highly reviewed ER who actually greeted the customer, had a doctor assess over the phone and even though it would be a two hour wait, to check in ahead of time and come! Of course Blue Pearl was way off, no sedation was needed. This other ER facility treated my dog very well. Blue pearl made up that we needed sedation on the phone and said they can't perform it, when it was never needed. If left untreated the bacterial infection would keep getting worse. Kudos to the other place and shame on this location for horrible service, lack of willingness to help and misleading advice. read more

We took our dog here when no other emergency vet was available. If you don't know already, alllll vets and emergency vets are overwhelmed due to the pandemic and it's after effects. Staff is overworked, burned out, have moved on to other careers... and vets are inundated with people who adopted pets during the pandemic. On the night my guy needed an emergency vet, I called office after office and each one said it was a 6-8 hour wait, and that was IF they were accepting cases. Blue Pearl was the only vet that spent more than 2 minutes on the phone with us. The receptionist put us on hold and ask about capacity so we could be seen. We knew it would be a long wait, but since they were able to see us, we made the journey from Everett to Kirkland late one Sunday night. Pros: Large, clean facility Easy parking Just off 405 Free hot and cold drinks while waiting A vending machine for snacks Clean bathrooms Reasonably comfortable chairs Tv in waiting room Knowledgeable vets Secured entrance after hours I liked the signage that protects their staff. It reminds people to be patient and kind, and let's them know the wait might be long. It's a good reminder for people in often stressful situations with their pets. Cons: Perpetually busy The front desk staff seems overwhelmed and don't make you feel especially welcome. I would give the doctors and techs 5 stars and the front desk staff 3 stars (as that 3 would be a 2 if the first person we spoke with wasn't so kind). This level of care is extremely expensive. There were also times when it seemed the doctor was trying to justify costs rather than save us money. Nobody explained the billing in detail, and when I asked about a line item, the person at the front desk seemed irritated that she had to answer. Did I mention it's expensive? $1200 and no definitive answer about why my dog was sick (which I realize is not always going to be the case, as he's an old guy experiencing multiple health conditions--but it was disappointing to spend so much and not have answers. Not entirely the vet's fault; however, they did give us a few ideas for what to do next). All in all, the best experience possible given limited availability of other vets and the level of care my dog was given. I don't know of any "inexpensive" emergency vets, and I acknowledge that the staff is overworked and often dealing with stressful situations and demanding owners. However, when it's obvious that the owners are polite, well behaved, etc, it would be nice to receive that energy back at the front desk. Had the level of care not been there, this would have been a 3-star review, but I'm happy with the time and attention the doctors and techs spent with us and my dog. read more

The staff is very compassionate and skilled. My elderly cat was quite ill and would require an extended stay which was prohibitively expensive and we agreed probably not in the pet's best interest. I was provided with excellent care information and medication to allow me to care for her at home which gave me and my kitty significant comfort. She has improved appetite which is critical for her chances of survival. I made the right choice in selecting Blue Pearl over another facility recommended by my primary vet. read more

Late Friday, we had what could have been a heartbreaking situation with our little Yorkie mix. We headed directly to BluePearl and they got us in quickly and as soon as they looked at our little guy, they knew exactly what was going on. What I really appreciated from the staff, is their professionalism, support, and reassurance. I will not hesitate to refer friends, and return myself if the need arises. The best specialists for our fur babies! Dr. Alice A. Huang was better than any human doctors I've dealt with at ER's. Her assistant and her are thorough, caring, efficient and extremely detailed! The report they created for my dog left me speechless! Their attention to detail is at another level! And so so professional yet compassionate and kind! Can't praise her and her tech enough! Just one negative and that is that the radiology department does not accept appointments. I mean I can't let my dog starve all day waiting for them to do the scans. I wish they had appointments facilities for that! One tip as a workaround is that go in at 9am, the techs come at 9:30am so you may get to see them before the craziness begins. Other than the radiology issue! Overall I love these folks! They are the only people who in my experience have billed my insurance for me. They are phenomenal! Can't believe all the negative reviews I am seeing about them because I have never had a negative experience there... and I have been there a lot! read more
