Splitting Hairs has evolved into a space (salon & boutique) that now encompasses two, adjoining buildings - it was just one when I started going there. It's nestled in the back of the Brownsboro Plaza next to Shady Lane Cafe and around the corner from Party Mart. So, you can make it a day by having lunch, getting your hair and nails done, and then picking up wine or cocktail ingredients on your way home. It's a full-service salon with numerous stylists, a nail tech, and a small boutique with both hair products and gift items. There's a mix of male and female stylists who each have their own look and unique approach. This isn't a salon molded by a brand philosophy (like Aveda or Paul Mitchell). It also doesn't look like some other salons that have a uniform or unified marketing approach. Splitting Hairs is what a lot of salons looked like before they rebranded as spas or wholeness centers. It's a great place to get a cut, style, color, eyebrow wax, and mani/pedi. If you want to sip Perrier and listen to interesting music while being helped by folks dressed all in black, you need to go elsewhere.

I don't go anywhere unless I can pay for what I want. I guess since I'm in sweats (wanted to be comfortable for getting waxed and toes done.. and changing clothes, no there isn't any time for that!) and look how I was born it must be triggering for some. It's sad for that to be the atmosphere. But luckily- I'm blessed beyond all measure to have a thriving business and have a life that little me is so grateful and proud of. So as I sit here in my 2.4k a month townhome I stand ten toes down on business and can honestly say if that's how the world looks at me.. cool but that's not my problem. So I hope if I ever go back into this store that energy will never come my way again. It was passive but.. still. I know they may have issues with it at the store- but it's not me or my problem. Lol I did settle on two new perfumes & a classic and a new lip balm cause this new YSL I got is giving me I need moisturizer after it's been on for a few minutes. My baby got some different makeup in the Juvia's Place line which she adores and another new fenty gloss bomb color which is beautiful!!! So I got whatever I wanted as always... stayed in a good mood regardless of anyone else's opinion or misguided profiling. I'm full of joy and endless information and positivity. The place was…read moreeasy to find and I found all the stylists to be very friendly throughout my time there, and I appreciated the playlist coming through the speakers. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed having Khyla do her hair. We first went in expecting a curly cut but then switched over to a silk press (what my daughter originally asked me to do). Khyla led us into discussion about the pros and cons about each and together as a team we made the decision to go with the silk press. My daughter appreciated her tender touch while detangling, and her concern for temperature at the shampoo bowl. Bless her heart I don't think she or I estimated the amount of time it would take with my daughters thick hair. Four hours later my daughter walked out all smiles and satisfaction. She ended up needing inches cut off her hair due to breakage but Khyla gave an in depth explanation why and took her time to only cut what was needed. My daughter appreciated the warmth shown by Khyla, the conversation, and the soft feel of her hair. We are looking forward to a healthy journey of hair care and highly recommend Khyla for future services.
