I was looking for a new salon & stylist. Chose Omagi due to location & the fact it's an Aveda products salon. Walked in & spoke to a receptionist, showed her a picture of what I wanted, she recommended a senior stylist so I made an appointment. The appointment was amazing. My stylist was Sara McAllister (hope I spelled it correctly). She looked at what I wanted & what I had then assured me she could do it. After a marvelous neck massage she shampooed my hair (and gave me a wonderful hand massage) & put some treatment on it to help with the dryness I seem to have. Then it was back to the styling chair. She kept me turned away from the mirror throughout the cutting & blow dry. When she let me see the back I was speechless. They never have availability unless it's a Master stylist ($65) which makes me nervous that they are the only ones EVER available. Those people should be booked. Could just be their business practice but come on. First available appointment with level 2 or 3 is over a month away on a Holiday?? I've gone before and had a great experience, no trouble making appointments but now it's like they make the only available time for a non master stylist is a weekday at 11. My haircut looked unbalanced and was clumpy on the sides. When the stylist finished, I mentioned the clumpiness and that it still looked longer on one side. They grab the hair with two fingers and one side didn't go past their fingers and the other side did. There really shouldn't have been any confusion for what the problem was. Yet somehow they removed the drape off of me and walked away. When paying they asked (how was your haircut) and I said (I don't think it looks even). All they said (OK) as they swiped my card. The simplest of replies would have been; (what's wrong with it) or (would you like for the stylus to look at again). But no, zero involvement or consideration was given. read more

I said I wouldn't come back here again but Joseph's salon and spa which btw is the BEST in Kentucky period are not blow drying so I thought just maybe I'd try them again! I made my appt, just a blow out, $37 and today they tried charging $65 after we discussed price!! Wtf? They always try to screw your on prices! Awful place! The last time I was here they charged me over $100 more for what I normally get! They are just crooks! You have to verify in writhing what you are paying for! I use to pay $600 every 6 weeks in Dallas where cowbird cheerleaders get their hair done and I have no problem paying money BUT.....when you try to sneak shit to get more money, then I have an issue! Amazing staff! The owner Is just AMAZING! They always all greet you when you come they have huge smiles on their faces! I love all the products and all the services! This salon has a very nice atmosphere and operates smoothly. I was greeted right away upon entering and offered a drink and then very quickly my stylist (Vanessa) came to get me even though I was a little early. Everyone was very friendly. I love Aveda salons for both the products and in my experience the predictably good service. Vanessa was very nice and went over what I wanted for my hair. I went in for a shampoo and style and the end result was perfect - exactly what I was hoping for a friend's fancy wedding. She started with a shoulder massage, the shampoo was very relaxing (pretty sure it doubled as a head massage), and there was a hand massage while the conditioner soaked in. By the end I was feeling very pampered. She was very gentle with my fine textured tangle loving hair and used the perfect blend of Aveda products to produce a look that was both pretty and lasting. My hair looked as good at midnight as it did when I left the salon but it never looked crunchy or like a helmet - always soft and shiny. I definitely recommend this salon and Vanessa. read more

My first visit was a month ago for a haircut by Carrie. Everyone was very friendly, offered me a beverage while I waited. But the best thing was the haircut. I get compliments everywhere I go. Carrie is professional and talented. Yesterday I went for a color consultation with Leanna. I had the same great experience. Leanna was Knowledgeable and did not try to sell me on expensive treatments. Gave me great advice. It's great to walk out of a salon and feel prettier. I have been a repeated customer however, the last few times I have gone, it wasn't pleasant. The service was poor, upon completion, my hair was a disaster and the colorist agreed she messed up and asked I sit back in the chair for a correction. Five hours later it looked the same or worse and I was charged an additional $30 more for THEIR time.. no thoughts about my time, the days weeks months it will take to grow this mess out.. and at check out the lady was rude about it and even made jokes about needing $1000!more in sales and said my bill could have been more. I just got home after an amazing experience at Omagi! My family and I just moved to the Louisville area & I knew I needed a touch up (partial highlights and a cut). I had a decision to make, either I could drive up to NKY or find a new local salon. Neither was something I wanted to do. I am so glad I decided to not drive 140 miles round trip. My hair and my daughter's hair looks absolutely amazing and this was probably the most relaxing salon experience I have ever had. New to the Lousiville area so I thought I'd check out this spa for a massage. Not really a spa atmosphere at all. Small room, just an ok foot soak, but the massage therapist was pretty educated and took the time to work on my sore spots. Receptionist was kind of snotty and not very friendly or welcoming. Not sure if he was having an off day or what... Haven't had a haircut, so I can't speak for the hair services. Non-tipping salon. Omagi was recommended to me by a college friend 6 years ago. I was shocked by the great experience, especially the shoulder/neck/scalp massage and hand massage with lavender oil while your hair is being washed!! Nearly puts you to sleep. I've never been to a salon run like this before. They have stations for each service you receive. Hair color is one station, then a different person and different appointment is necessary for a cut, and a different person and appointment for a blow dry. It makes scheduling complicated. If you know this ahead of time and don't assume a blow dry is part of your service you'd be fine. I didn't prefer it however. This also means that the person who starts your service might not be there when it's over, which is what happened to me. I came for a color and while I was sitting waiting to finish the girl coloring my hair told me she was off work and someone else would be finishing up for her. I sat there unsure of who was going to be checking my color and finishing me up. I've never in 20 years of coloring my hair not had the stylist check on my progress throughout, let alone leave half way through. Someone did come to shampoo and blow dry my hair. When I was finished I was very disappointing. The color was exactly what I asked her not to and my hair did not look like what I showed her I wanted. I talked to the manager, who I appreciated. She recognized that my hair did not look like what I asked for and talked to me about how we could fix it, although they couldn't fix it for a week and I was going out of town. Then the owner came over and tried convincing me that what was done looked better on me than what I asked for. She kept trying to explain that what I had was good even though it's not what I wanted. Like I said earlier, I've colored my hair for 20 years and I know what I like. She might have her opinions, but it's my hair and I didn't appreciate sitting there for probably 10 minutes why she tried to justify the mistake. She did express that she wanted me to leave happy and would make an appointment to fix my hair free of charge. But the mistake was made, couldn't be fixed quickly, and was going to cost me since I'd have to hire a babysitter to come back. They shouldn't have charged me for that appointment and should have just apologized without the excuses. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I have been coming to Omagi for over a year now. Nick cuts my hair and does an amazing job! He really listens to your concerns with your type of hair. Katlin helped me get on the right hair color path and has also done an amazing job with my hair color. I loved being able to have a consult with her before hand to discuss what needed fixing. I would highly recommend both of them. My only complaint is that if the salon is going to increase their fees, it would be nice if you were told before hand. Not when you have a scheduled appointment and are sitting in the chair at time of service. Most salons do give you a heads up before hand. read more

I've been back and forth between here and another salon but I'm going to stick with Omagi. I had my color done by Macy and I absolutely love it. I was unsure about the direction I wanted to go and she brought out different color swatches and explained the difference. The nicest person you will meet. I also loved the neck and shoulder massage. I have been going to this salon for over a year now, and have always been pleased with the service I got. My stylist does an excellent job with my hair. I've never gotten a bad haircut from her. Granted, it is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. I'm fussy about my hair, so I'm willing to pay a little more for the good service. I also got a free make-up consultation one time while I was there, and enjoyed that. The woman who did my make-up was quite friendly and helpful, and I did end up buying a product or two based on her advice. I'm a big lover of Aveda products anyway, so it was all good! I have yet to get my hair colored here, so I cannot speak to the difficulties with having different people working on your hair...personally I don't think I would have an issue with it myself. I'd rather have two experts working on my hair, than a single person who might be good at one or the other, but not necessarily at both. However, I do agree that a blow-out should be part of the service, and not charged extra for such, regardless of whether you get a cut or a color...or both. I also cannot say that I have ever seen a lot of hair around or gotten the feeling of a dirty salon while there. I'm also impressed by how the salon staff will go out of their way to communicate with me - I am Deaf and thus I don't use a regular phone. Staff have no problems with making appointments for me via text messaging, or contacting me by text to remind me of my upcoming appointment. That's called Equal Communication Access. This salon not only believes in it, but practices it too! That rates high in my book. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!! I scheduled my appointment over the phone weeks ago. I was very excited to try this salon out, as I have heard good things about Aveda products and this salon had high rating. I was scheduled to have a highlight and cut. After a 15 hour shift at the hospital I was really looking forward to finally get my hair done. When I arrived I was taken back by a "stylist" when I asked her to be sure that I was getting a highlight she said yes. Then she asked me to go back to get my hair washed. I have gotten my hair highlighted many times and know that its not ever done on wet hair. I asked her again what we were doing and she said getting you cut then highlighted. She then began to spray my hair with water with out ever going and asking anyone what I was even supposed to have done to my hair. I asked her again to please go and check with someone. She finally did and came back to tell me I was not scheduled for a highlight today. So not only did they not schedule me appropriately they also did not communicate with me or each other about what was going on. This stylist said she did not highlight hair. This is concerning to me that a hair stylist doesn't know that you cant highlight hair that is wet. I left immediately with a soaking wet head and an hour of wasted time driving. I am just thankful that I did not let anyone at that salon cut or dye my hair. Hopefully I will save someone else the trouble! read more

I went in with a mess and was scared to death. My color specialist was wonderful. She did a consult with the master stylist that was going to be cutting my mop afterwards and I knew as soon as the towel came off, even with soaking hair, that it was good. The stylist quietly listened to my vague desciption of what I wanted/needed and made a few suggestions and went to work. When it was all finished, I was thrilled. I will drive the hour to go back. The staff was courteous, I got a mini hand massage during my wash/rinse and I loved the way the AVEDA products smelled. It was well worth the extra money and drive to go to Omagi. I had a spectacular stylist named Kristen for my 1st appointment there. I had previously been going to a different stylist for many years so do not "jump around" to different places. At my initial appointment I was informed by 3 different employees that they did complimentary bang cuts in between hair cuts. I was told I didn't need an appointment for this. I decided to take them up on this offer and stopped there on my way home from work one Tuesday afternoon. The 2 women working the front desk informed me that I would have to wait over an hour and a half for someone to trim my bangs! They said that they were always short handed on Mondays and Tuesdays. After my 1st appointment I scheduled my next time with Kristen as I thought she had done a super job. Kristen told me her schedule and I spent a few minutes trying to work out a day and time. I believe Jacob (or Jason?) scheduled me and gave me an appointment card that clearly showed my app was on 10/3 at 7 pm. I kept the card but also entered the appointment into my phone right away and wrote it on my calendar when I got home. On 10/3 at around 5:30 I got a call from Jacob (or Jason!) wanting to confirm my appointment for 10/5 at 7pm! I told him that the card showed the appointment was that night, not 10/5. He said that it had to be for 10/5 because someone had scheduled for the 10/3 appointment before I had scheduled my appointment. I told him that I was leaving to go out of town on 10/4 & that I would never schedule a Thursday night appointment since I work late on those days usually. He gave me the name of the owner which was Wes. I called and left a message for him to call me on 10/4. The girl that took my contact information said she'd give him my message but he was already planning to contact me. He never bothered to call me. I have never written a negative review for a business before. I have written many positive reviews and have an occupation that I have worked with the public for many years. This poor level of customer service is absurd. I am sorry that Kristen is working at a place that loses her clients. read more

For weeks I was looking for a salon who had reasonable prices for hair cuts. Finally, I found Omagi who only charges 25$ for a cut which I thought was fantastic since other salons usually charge in the $40+ range. I hadn't got my hair cut in four years since the horrific incident where a chatty woman cut my hair up to my ears. It was nothing how I wanted it. So, you can see why I was already hesitant to trust anyone with my hair in the first place. Today I experienced my first visit to Omagi Salon & Spa. They served free little bagels and cream cheese from Panera while you wait, when I got called back my hair dresser asked me if, "she could start with a neck and shoulder massage." Who on earth would say no to that? Then, she shampooed my hair and gave me what she called, "a hand ritual" (just a fancy name for a hand massage so no dirty thoughts, people). This was no Great Clips. As we walked back to the chair to start cutting, I thought to myself, "there is no way this is going to be 25$, they are totally going to charge for all of this extra stuff." I was worried the whole time. Overall, I am pleased with the cut that she gave me, even though it's not exactly what I wanted. That is my only complaint. But it looks good and I am very happy with it. As I was checking out, the cashier said that it would be 25 dollars even. I was amazed, impressed, and relieved that all the extra stuff was free. Omagi is also a "no tipping" salon so you really don't pay for anything extra than what you get. I will be going back to Omagi Salon & Spa. read more

I went in to get my roots colored and some highlights; had a top rated stylist and asked for a hair trim also. My roots were not touched, the highlights were brassy and I paid way too much money. The lighting in salon is not bright so it's to their advantage. I was shocked. Never going back to this salon. read more
