Today was the day for people's otherworldly stuff... So the vibe wasn't the best with some folks, but I don't come to steal & I don't come to waste my time or anyone else's. I don't go anywhere unless I can pay for what I want. I guess since I'm in sweats (wanted to be comfortable for getting waxed and toes done.. and changing clothes, no there isn't any time for that!) and look how I was born it must be triggering for some. It's sad for that to be the atmosphere. But luckily- I'm blessed beyond all measure to have a thriving business and have a life that little me is so grateful and proud of. So as I sit here in my 2.4k a month townhome I stand ten toes down on business and can honestly say if that's how the world looks at me.. cool but that's not my problem. So I hope if I ever go back into this store that energy will never come my way again. It was passive but.. still. I know they may have issues with it at the store- but it's not me or my problem. Like I said multiple times, I buy whatever I like and it's my birthday so yeah. Wasn't trying to irritate anyone by taking my time but I was on a mission for something new, and I'm not going to get just anything someone else likes I need to like it. I want to always be soft and smell good. And since I'm on the tail end of menopause not everything smells good on me anymore so I'm branching out trying new things that I don't think I would have before. Just crazy how all these reviews are like they can't get help or no one's around. It was like rotating hawks! I'm aware everything I like is locked up... I have expensive taste. Lmao I don't need a credit card to save money on this purchase (I'm debt free and have all my cards paid off and do not really want a new one anytime soon- but maybe in the future I want to enjoy where I am at with zero credit card bills for a few) and making sure someone is constantly standing next to me... idk it was passive but just uncomfortable... I knew walking in I was going to spend at least $800 on me and my baby. I've never been perfumes shopping and spent less than that and I have spent more than $1.5 a few times. I'm a perfume and skin care person. Not makeup or clothes lol I love to be soft and smell good and have cool colors in my hair lol seriously though! But Kristen and this other young lady (beautiful Latina! I apologize I didn't ask for your name- but you know who you are, you did wonderful helping my daughter with the makeup so I could sniff all the perfumes) - they were a great help. I appreciate your patience. Great products, didn't have a few things we were looking for but I can go back to Sephora for the girl and me. I need big lashes for my birthday dinners this weekend! Lol I did settle on two new perfumes & a classic and a new lip balm cause this new YSL I got is giving me I need moisturizer after it's been on for a few minutes. My baby got some different makeup in the Juvia's Place line which she adores and another new fenty gloss bomb color which is beautiful!!! So I got whatever I wanted as always... stayed in a good mood regardless of anyone else's opinion or misguided profiling. I'm full of joy and endless information and positivity. I'll continue to shine and share it no matter where I go. I hope to keep breaking barriers and changing people's perceptions everyday of my life. It's not my job to, but I realize what a privilege it is to do so. So I couldn't give 3 stars or less- cause I'm not petty that way but I can't give 5 either. I went to Ulta to have my makeup done for my birthday dinner. My appointment was for 4pm but she didn't start until 430pm! I told her I wanted a soft glam look with more focus on the eyes. I wanted a "bedroom/smokey eyes" look. Well she kept blending the eye shadow too much where she spent over an hour on just my eyes and it didn't even look right! I was trying to give her the benefit of the doubt to finish the work. But she was Taking too long that she didn't even put foundation on my face. Finally, I just told her to stop because she was making me late for my dinner and to come find out she was just an apprentice! Had I had known she was just a beginner I would had canceled my appointment. I felt like the manager and her she had told me this from the beginning! I will not be going back!!! read more

For the salon services, this place knocked it out of the park recently. Let me preface this by saying that I am not a "hair person". Not lucky enough to get the thick and curly locks that my brothers have (and that they then chop down to nothing), I've been blessed with a sad mop of fine hair that no amount of ultra hold hairspray can rescue. Most days I just give up and pull it into a ponytail. As a result, I don't usually care about a less-than-stellar haircut, knowing that it will grow out and I can pull it back. But after a particularly disastrous haircut somewhere else and a family wedding coming up that next weekend, I needed to do something. I called around to several salons, and either had to leave a message or wouldn't be able to make an appointment in the timeframe that I needed. "I think we can fit you in, but let me double-check for you," the friendly girl at Ulta said over the phone. "We have one appointment left for today, at 5:15. Could you make it?" I glanced at the clock. It was 4:59. "I'm on my way," I replied. Upon arriving, I was promptly greeted by Danielle. She is so friendly, you can't help but be immediately reassured by her smile. After a brief consultation when I explained the bad haircut situation and what I was hoping for, she got right to work. It was obvious that she was in her element, as she was confident in what she was doing (and explained as she went along), and kept a friendly stream of conversation going as she worked. I couldn't believe the transformation. When she finished, it was like she had read my mind of exactly what I was looking for! I can honestly say that my hair has never looked better after a haircut -- shine, body, movement -- I felt like a million bucks! With both my spirits and my hair feeling extra light, I was ready to take on the day. Bet your bottom dollar, I'll be coming back here the next time my strands need a touch-up! read more

I would rate Ulta's salon service a 0 if I could. I asked for a full set of highlights with an ash white tone. I recieved orange hair from a double process wth a 5 inch root straight around my head except for my "money piece" which was white roots and orange ends. No toner was used. I have NEVER seen such a bad dye job. I was so embarrassed leaving the salon, I went straight to Sally's beauty store to attempt to fix it. The cashiers all had horrible experiences there also. Oooooh!! I had my eyebrows tinted and waxed Saturday morning! This was my first tinting! My blonde eyebrows have always been a challenge for me. I've tried to enhance their appearance with brow pencil before but hard to do with poor eyesight. Tinting is the way to go! Bree was terrific. Why does this Ulta have such a low overall rating?? After reading the reviews, I get it. There aren't any workers walking around to help you really. It's rare if I see anyone other than at the front counter. Sephora is quite the opposite. Anyway, I came on a Sunday afternoon around 5 and of course, there were a good number of people in here. It's usually packed on weekends and sometimes on weekday afternoons, but today was a bit less busy. I thought about asking for help because I didn't know where NYX is at, but ended up finding the section anyway. But regardless, asking for help isn't an option here... I'm still rating them five stars though. The store is pretty well organized! I'm never searching for what I'm looking for for very long. The store itself isn't hard to navigate. Just look at the signs and you'll find what you're looking for within five minutes. The line for the register was kinda slow though. There were maybe 5 people in front of me. Two registers were open but the line definitely took some time. They are pretty nice at the counter! Some of them seem to love working there and others, perhaps not really. Still, it's a cheaper option as opposed to Sephora and I'm glad I live close to it. read more

I've been going to Ulta off and on for several years (GA, TX, and now KY). I've always enjoyed Ulta as an alternative to Sephora when it comes to make up, facial care and hair care products and styling tools. Although Sephora carries more of the high-end brands, Ulta certainly carries an awesome brand selection and should not be overlooked. They now carry NARS, Mac, Lancôme, and many other popular major cosmetic brands. Their hair care and hair styling tools selection is worth checking out. Blow Dryers, curling irons, flat irons, brushes, etc. are endless and for every price point - from Conair, Remington, and Hot Tools, to Bio Ionic, BaByliss, T3, and Ghd. Their return policy is flawless, no hassle. Their lines can get long and are quickly addressed with additional staff to help speed up the check-out process. It's true that the floor staff can be scarce, but once someone is within reach they've always been friendly and ready to assist with a wealth of product knowledge. I've never encountered an employee who didn't know the product and who wasn't pleasant and helpful. Their online store and ordering is also flawless and easy to navigate when wanting to get the status of your order. Orders arrive on time and well packaged. There are several things that set Ulta apart from Sephora. Ulta has a salon, an eyebrow station, and they sell many drug-store brands that can save you a trip to the drug store, Walmart or even Target. Nowadays, that can be very helpful, as drug-store brands are now becoming more and more popular containing quality and effective ingredients; therefore, they're experiencing increased sales so why not stock up while shopping at Ulta. The store's layout is quite simple. The drug-store brands are on one side of the store, while non drug-store brands are located on the opposite side of the store. In my opinion their rewards program surpasses Sephora's. It takes a lot less $$$ to reach their highest level ($450, I think) over the 12 month period and your rewards are spending dollars that can go towards future purchases. The only thing I hate is that there is only one location in the Kentuckiana area, but that's how it goes in smaller metro areas. I don't shop at Ulta Beauty often, but they carry my favorite loofa, so I ran into this location to pick one up when I couldn't place an order for one online (which is what I usually do). This store was clean and fairly well organized. The service I received was extremely friendly, and since I was visiting during my birthday month I also received a free gift, which was a nice surprise. The great thing about Ulta is that they carry a huge selection of merchandise. Whereas some other beauty and cosmetics stores only carry high-end name brand merchandise, Ulta also carries items you can find at drugstores, along with the high-end stuff. I made an online order through Ulta, and the order said processed but wasn't sent for over a week. Customer service, which was obviously outsourced, kept saying it was sent, but the carrier said the package wasn't received. I asked for the order to be cancelled and to be refunded, which they refuse to do. I asked to talk to a supervisor which they said was not available. They said they would call me but never did. I called again a couple days later, and explained and asked for a refund. Maryl told me one would be issued. It was not, and I called again. This time they said it could not be issued because I hadn't waited long enough. Expecting the refund, I had already purchased the item in store. They still will not issue the refund and refused to do anything to address the issue. Customer service is important, and Ulta has lost my business due to the lack of it. read more

I am giving Ulta 3 stars due to its lack of commitment to provide exceptional customer service to each and every customer. I have watched older women try to use coupons and show their ail and the gals at the front (including managers) seem to get aggravated if they have to wait a few seconds for an older woman to pull it up on a phone she didn't grow up with! I have also had issues in the past finding help around the store. They seem to be short staffed and are quick to admit it when shuffling guests quickly. As for the products, some are pricier than Sephora and salons. This has always been quite odd for me. I also have had. an issue in the past with the salon manager who is racist. Some of the stylists have been profiled and put down due to their color. I have watched this just as much as I know about it through the grape vine. I am a hairstylist and word gets around. I tend to not visit but if I am at Noodles & Company and need foundation, I will surpass the extra visit at rush hour to Oxmoor. read more

The worst possible scenario for Louisville: a last minute thing, need to get hair done, on a Monday. I had heard about all the fancy blow out bars in Clifton, and St Matthews, but they weren't open for Monday. So what is a girl supposed to do?! Simple. Check out the Ulta Salon. I was able to get an appointment at a time that worked for me, in a price range that worked for me. I got a blow out- shampoo, dry, and style- from an incredible stylist who was sweet, kind, and did an amazing job! My hair looked amazing. Ulta Salon was so easy to work with and put me at ease. I've been to this location multiple times, and each time had mostly been the same. -walk in. Look around and can't find certain items, employees walk past and do not offer assistance. But the last visit was different. I actually had multiple employees ask if I need assistance, and were very pleasant . Had a hair day with my daughter yesterday. Perms for both. My hair came out just fine. However, my daughter's end results are nothing short of disappointing. Approximately half has waves. The other half is straight still. I told the hairdresser that I thought she needed to use smaller rollers than she wanted, due to my daughters long hair. I went in to get something I saw in a sale add. The employees are nice... once you find one... but they don't seem that knowledgeable about products. They were out of the sale item, but offered to ship it for free which I appreciate. The layout is kinda odd. I have been here three times, so I feel confident that I gave this place a fair chance. Each time, I was surprised and disappointed by the service. Problems I encountered during my three visits include: 1. Finding no one to help and giving up, or waiting a long time for someone to quickly tell me they don't know. 2. Staff giving me wrong answers about products. 3. Long, long lines at the check out. 4. Salon people unable to answer questions or they just don't have the time to because they're understaffed. 5. Being out of stock of the product I came to buy. 6. When I can't see name tags or at least consistent clothing styles, it's hard to tell who actually works there. A lot of people (including myself) wear black. 7. Wandering around the aisles looking for a particular brand with no one to direct me and generally wasting my time. On what would be my final visit, I looked for two products and actually found one that had not been in stock there before - good. But my other product was a brand that Sephora carried and they did not, so I asked for something similar. (It was just waterproof mascara.) It was hard to find someone who could give me a recommendation - mostly staff were very busy or just not around. The first person I talked to ended up being someone employed only by one brand, who seemed to look like any other employee. She tried to sell me something from her line that wasn't actually waterproof. It would be nice to have some visual clue of who she was working for before I talked to her. The second worker didn't know at all, so she directed me to one of the cashiers because "he's worked here a long time." However, even he had to call someone to get advice, and it was clear he was stressed because of the huge line in front of him. The person on the phone told him to direct me to a particular brand, and once I found it, I read every label to find none of their mascaras were waterproof or even water resistant. I gave up at that point and tried to check out with my other item, but a line of - I'm not kidding - 25+ people which stretched into the back of the store signaled to me that I better leave and stick to Sephora in the future. No way do I blame the individual workers here - the management needs to hire more employees and invest in more training so employees know their products. I've had far better luck with service just at the cosmetics counter at Walgreens. read more

I visited this store yesterday for the first time. I was shocked at the rudeness of the staff! I was having trouble finding an item, so I asked an associate for help. She showed me where the item should be, but there were no products on the shelf. I let her know that I had checked online and made sure it was in stock, so could she please check in the back for me. Her response was to roll her eyes and complain that it would take too long for her to go and check. She told me to order it online and hope it came in by Christmas. Then I went to the register to purchase a gift card. The associate who rang me up (different from the girl on the sales floor) didn't even greet me. She simply rang me up with minimal interaction and not a single smile. I was pleasant to both of the associates that I interacted with but received nothing but rude dismissive behavior in return. So it's a good location. They have great products and even men's products. Here's the problem. I don't go to ulta and barely know a darn thing about this store. So I'm wandering the aisles and find beard oil. More than half the stock on their shelves is missing caps and I find one in particular that looked griiiiiiimey! It definitely looked used. So I assume it's a sample bottle and give it a try. Out pops a lady I'd assume is the store manager to "check up" on me. I point out what I find and show her the condition of her merchandise and she grabs the bottles and walk away with them. I'd advise they review their shelves regularly or post somewhere that these products are not to be sampled. Or perhaps this beard oil needs to be repackaged by the manufacturer. FYI, this bottle of beard oil is a small bottle for $20. How do you justify buying this without trying it out? What if you buy it and cannot stand the smell? I understand the need to limit shrinkage, but this was a misunderstanding that was embarrassing. If the merchandise looks used, take it off the shelf. I would say it's unethical for them to sell it in the condition it's in, so write it off and leave it as a sample, or take it off the shelf. Very disappointed with my visit on Aug 14 staff very inattentive to customer seem more interested in their conversations with each other. A distance for me to go to this store but only one around that had what was in search for. Promotion going on for my purchase which offers free tarte primer when asked at checkout for promotion associate wasn't aware told her of counter sign on all tarte products her reply then was they just received very few and they were on first come first serve basis and there wasn't any available. I only come here if I'm in the area and need something but every time I'm greeted with the most dirty and unkempt store. Make up broken and on the floor, products never stocked ...not even the testers are ever there so you are never able to try things out. The idea of having drugstore and high end products under one roof is nice, but you can feel and see the total disconnect between the two sides of the store. More often than not, the store doesn't look clean, and there's been several times where I'm fixing the beauty displays on the shelves because it drives me insane when expensive makeup is just tossed on the counter!! I see people working there, but there's so few staff that they spend all their time serving clients. Salon gets 1 star! I got a color and cut... asked for a junior stylist and not a senior/master bc i wanted to pay less. I didn't realize this girl was practically straight out of beauty school! The lady guiding her told her to dye my hair a darker color which i didn't want. this wasn't even explained to me, she just said "we are making ur hair all one color and it will be beautiful" like HELLO what does that mean?? What color? Finally while she was mixing the colors I told her i was hesitant and she reassured me it would look great. My hair is softer and more hydrated but i do not like the color... This was the worst hair appointment of my life! My hair was being yanked and pulled in all directions and HURT. cut is choppy! and like i said i'm not pleased with the color. 3 STARS for the rest of the Ulta store, I love the concept of high-end makeup and drugstore products under one roof, BUT they are constantly out of products! I've shopped here several times in the past and overall I've been happy with my experience. Sometimes employees will ask me if I need help or I have to ask them, but always they're friendly when I need help. I was very pleased when I called ahead to see if they had an advertised item in stock. She happily went to look for it and asked if I wanted it to be held behind the counter. As with Sephora, I always tend to spend more than I should when I go in. Sometimes I get good deals -- like the time I used their nail polish sale of buy 2 get 1 free + points + coupon to get 3 China Glaze polishes for only $7 total. Sometimes nothing is on sale, and sometimes like my recent experience an item is ~$4 cheaper than marked. You have to watch with their coupons because most makeup (because it's considered a premiere product) cannot be used on those 3.50 off coupons which makes me sad. As far as I can tell, you can cash in your points for a discount on those items. Overall, I'm happy with shopping there. I wish they had more sales and that you could use the coupons on more items -- that's the sole reason for not giving them 5 stars. read more

I'm giving it two stars only because I can find products here that aren't available anywhere else. This store is always a disorganized mess. The last time I went in there were lots of empty shelves as well. There are always a ton of employees around talking to each other but ignoring the customers, right at the entrance. They also have brand reps for certain companies working that are dressed just like the other employees. So if someone helps you, you can't even trust their recommendation because they may just be shilling their product rather than actually recommending something that suits your needs. I inquired about a facial session and the esthetician was pretty rude, ensuring I'll never get one there. They advertise the ten dollar mini sessions but according to her that's enough time to remove your makeup and that's it. If you want any kind of treatment whatsoever you need the 60 minute session. Cool, I'll just go for the zero minute session and take my business elsewhere ‍ They used to have a decent sized ethnic hair care section, now it's garbage. These are my experiences over a couple of years. I really want to like the place, because it's convenient to my house and I can get prestige brands along with drugstore ones. I could even overlook a couple of bad experiences and chalk them up to a bad day. It's a shame, because the benefit brow bar was my go-to waxing spot. I am so irritated that it has come to having to write a review on Yelp. Long story short, I had tried to make a review on Ulta's website for the Hair Makeup by Curl Smith that I had purchased about a month ago. However, for whatever reason, Ulta has still not posted my review. I took the time to make another review with pictures and still, was not posted. Overall, my attempts at making my first review on a product took so much work and did not even get uploaded. The hair product went all over my clothes and diffuser, staining anything and everything it touched. I returned the product and for it to be so expensive and do all this hassle? Not worth it, period. The Brow Bar at this Ulta is one of the worst places I have ever been to. I swore off going to this Ulta but decided it had been a few years and that it was worth a second try. Even if you have an appointment you will always end up waiting and, in my experience of waiting, 20+ minutes. That is ridiculous and they don't even bother to apologize about the wait. I will never go to this Brow Bar at this Ulta and I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

I had such a phenomenal experience at a local Ulta Salon, that I wanted to share it with others. CLINIQUE CONSULTANT, BRIT MILLER, at Ulta Salon was personable and professional without being so pushy that I was turned off. She is absolutely a dream-come-true when it comes to being knowledgeable about Clinique's product line and the variety of skin conditions women face. I have noticed that over the Fall and Winter months, my skin has become dull. Ms. Miller took the time to talk to me about my individual skin care needs and make recommendations . It is obvious that she truly believes in Clinique Cosmetics and she is a fantastic model and brand ambassador. In fact,I was so impressed that I actually decided to use the Fresh Pressed Daily Booster with 10 percent pure Vitamin C. WOW! I love that Fresh Pressed Daily Booster w/ Vitamin C - it really brightens! You need to stop by Ulta at The Paddock Shops and ask Brit Miller what products she can recommend for you that will make you as happy as the Vitamin C made me! read more
