This was a huge, HORRIBLE experience for everyone who works at bellingham Nissan. I was in there like a whirling dervish of phsyco-holic mind destructing chaos, and somehow they maintained thier composure with apparent minimal damage. I bought a truck, then changed my mind. They suffered through the horror of reworking all of the paperwork and refunding the funding for the first truck, so the could RE-fund the 2nd truck, which is something that I don't think they actually had to do, because according to my bank, once I sign and take possession its totally up the dealership. I own it and if they don't want to let me switch, that's that. They went through the process of switching over, going WAY out of thier way to make me happy. But I wasn't done yet. I actually had the truck for 2 days and arbitrarily wondered if I could switch again for a Toyota that they had down there. Again my bank almost laughed at my odds, having already switched once. I cant stress this enough: They deserve the highest medal of honor possible in showing me the patience and latitude that they gave me. They actually suffered thru that grueling 3 hour process for the 2nd time, again despite that they had no reason that would benefit them to do so, and again they were as polite and helpful as automatic cherry pie that puts itself in your mouth for you. I could not break these guys. In the end, I got a great truck that I couldn't be happier about. Special thanks to Raven, Hussein, Tony, and Nelson...(most of those names likely spelled as if an idiot were trying to spell them), and also the following people who's names I don't know at all: the Disney parts girl, the baby carrying manager, the birthday girl in the front, the service girl in the back, and a few of the other sales guys who's names I never got. Apologies to all for murdering your names, and for the 3 days of darkness that my patronage likely laid low on your heads. Therapy is on me (offer expires at 4:10pm today). They are not willing to send my license plate back on time (7-10 days because I need to be out of town within 10 days) and want me to pay $10 to cover the postage. I purchased a used car from this dealer at the time of purchase we mentioned that the coolant level was low and asked to have it filled. No that wasn't possible but we could spend $40 on coolant and do it ourselves. We waited around for over an hour to complete the purchase and then was told no I couldn't just pay with my debit card. If they had told me that I could have gotten a cashiers check from the bank instead of being charged a credit card fee. Finally after having it less than a week had to replace the battery. The old school dealership mentality is alive and well at Bellingham Nissan. Buyer beware... of the bait and switch on their "low prices". They may have had the lowest priced option on the car I was looking for, but that will quickly disappear when they add in the required Pulse Kit, Window Etching & Interior/Exterior protection package. I was looking at a $10k car and they tried to add $2,500 to the price and over 20% increase! The funny thing is, the vehicle had 2 large dents on the drivers side, missing interior trim and a broken airbag cover. I almost laughed when they told me I had to buy the $1599 "Resistall" coverage, even when they lowered it to $999, I thought it was hilarious that they were going to force me to buy it, while denying to fix the existing interior/exterior issues. After clearly stating what it would take to earn my business,. Which was the car at the advertised price, with no add-ons. They continued to try and play games. After the 3rd "talking to a manager", I walked out and went down the road & the experience was a night and day difference. Within 10 minutes of me leaving, the salesmen called back and they agreed to take off the BS packages, but they would lower my trade by $300. The dealership I ended up buying from gave me no BS addons & $500 more on my trade than the highest price B'Ham Nissan ever offered. It really shouldn't have surprised me, knowing that this is a Xavier Cortes dealership. I had a very similar process when I bought from NW Chevy too, which was the highest pressure experience I've dealt with. The worst part, by far was the locker room style talk happening in the middle of the showroom. I believe it was a Sales Manager, Bart? Who was loudly cursing and carrying on with crude humor to a "buddy" that made both my wife & I uncomfortable... luckily he did disappear outside with his "buddy" to "smoke about it" as he announced while leaving the showroom. The only positive thing about this place is Forest. He is patient and very helpful. Went above and beyond. Sadly, he was not available for our test drive appointment and I was passed off to Michael. Everything after that was downhill. The price went up $500 in the time it took me to get home after test driving. I was rushed in to purchase because "several other people want to buy it and are willing to pay more." It felt very rushed, purposefully. Once I got to finance, Tony rushed me thru paperwork and "missed" the paperwork stating they owed additional maintenance. He sold me a warranty that he knew I miscalculated. I did the math in front of him and said Id her the warranty for around $700 so I'd do it. Later, I realized that warranty was $3450. They also kept changing the amount they would allow me to put down on the vehicle. I was going to pay cash but due to the rush I didn't have time to get it all from the bank. i went in with cash & credit to pay around $8500 down but was told I could only put $3k on credit. By the time I was in finance, that amount was $2500. I ended up with a loan for way more money than I ever intended to spend. Once they refund me for the warranty I'm paying off the car immediately so I can be done with these people. Don't NOT purchase a vehicle from this dealership!!!! They are scammers and will lie to you about the working order of your vehicle. Refuse to put anything in writing and refused to let us speak with the service manager about the car we purchased. Lied about the working order of car and that inspection came back 100% clean, when in fact there is a head gasket leak, exhaust manifold issues, brakes and more. They sold this vehicle to my daughter, her first car and let her drive off with it after we were told that once it went through inspection everything would be fixed and replaced, by law that they would have to. Instead they lied and said it was a clean inspection, and refusing to repair. Not only that but when my daughter was in there asking for management they refused to let her speak with one, when the service manager tried to talk with her about the issues of the car they grabbed her and escorted her away and wouldn't let them speak.When I finally got ahold of a manager he had no idea what I was talking about and said he would call me back, not a word as of yet. Refusing to give me owners Information (which on their website states to please contact him with any issues or questions) or upper management as well. Don't buy From Bellingham Nissan or take them to their service center. In less than 1 year I've had 2 issues that crippled a 2 year old Nissan Rogue. The 1st one took 6 weeks to fix because the part was only available from the factory and only made them in limited runs. The second time a head gasket failed which flooded the engine, turbo, and catalytic converter wrecking all 3. $12.5k is the cost to fix it, thankfully the extended warranty I purchased will cover. keep in mind the car was just over 2 years old when the second incident happened. The service department people were nice but it took a month to just get my car taken apart and diagnosed. Now Nissan doesn't even have a all the parts needed to repair it available and it wont be available to purchase from Nissan for until another 3 weeks. So there will be 2-3 months that i have been paying for a car that i can't drive due to horrible quality controls by Nissan and a service center that doesn't seem to grasp the bind its customers are in when they have a car out of commission. read more

Regrettably, after us completing the credit application and after several calls over the two days of waiting to receive the digital paperwork, the dealer kept delaying further and further on superficial reasons. The manager involved was also very intransparent on the price, and kept promising to deliver the paperwork with final price constantly. At the end, said manager also used foul language when it became apparent that he has no intent to deliver on the promised paperwork. I do not recommend this dealership. read more

The worst experience I've ever had in the car purchasing game. Michael was an incredibly condescending person, treating me like I was a disposable and gullible customer and lying throughout the entire process. I came in on day 2 of talking to him because I really wanted the vehicle but not the experience, and he brought out an "agreement" for me to sign with my trade-in magically valued at almost $1000 less than what I was quoted the day before (post inspection including their test drive of my vehicle) and pretended like I wouldn't notice. Proceeded with the "walking to the back to ask" BS 3 times before getting me still less than the original trade-in deal and writing "congratulations" on some silly piece of paper for the trade in offer. They would not budge on selling price despite it being thousands higher than it should be, and he repeatedly printed out papers with the "sales prices" for the wrong vehicle to try and convince me I'm getting a good deal. He also tried to convince me to "take it for another test drive" when I was about to walk out, again, as if I were the most gullible person alive. Overall, the biggest lack of transparency I've ever seen in a dealership or in another human being, and an insane amount of disrespect. He even walked out to my car to say something to me when I was in my own space and left the building which was absolutely appalling and uncalled for. I know that car salesmen can be snakes, but this was next level. So "Congratulations!" Nissan of Bellingham, you guys have lost out on thousands of dollars from both me and my fiancé who are in the car market for having a shitty business model and a severe lack of transparency and for being insanely condescending. read more

First, the car I got from them (2019 Tesla Model S) was a gem. They get 5 stars for that. Where they lose stars are the following: 1. They registered my vehicle in the state of WA and charged me an incorrect tax amount even though I am a CA resident. I am not sure about the legality of this, as I would assume they should not be able to register a vehicle to someone anywhere other than the state the buyers resides in. So I had to pay registration fees for WA AND CA. Plus an extra few hundred in tax because it was incorrectly calculated. I have reached out to them to get this resolved. Hopefully they correct their mistake. Otherwise, I will be taking this to WA state vehicle licensing agency to see what can be done. 2. Their communication prior to the sale was great. But after the sale, and while waiting for my shipper to pick the car up, there was a drastic lack of updates and communication. 3. They tried selling me a few grand of 'options that had already been installed on the car'. I had to pay attention to details and get those taken off. 4. I was told by the sales rep that they charge a surcharge for out of state buyers "to make up for the fact that they may not get a repeat buyer". I found that strange. I made sure there were no surcharges like that. I hope I do not have to jump through hoops to get the registration and tax issue resolved. Do NOT buy a car from Bellingham Nissan. This is the low down, but there are many more details to this story. Absolutely terrible experience. Salesman kept talking about my looks, how I looked behind the wheel, how I'd look amazing driving away in it...I ignored it because I knew that was the vehicle I wanted to purchase after a year of car shopping. The sales team/finance people thought I was an idiot with numbers and tried to screw me over. I had to go in to resign because they messed up. I was told that the car had passed all inspections and that it was in perfect working order. But when I went out after signing everything, I tried to do the auto start and it wasn't working. Then realized some of the buttons on the steering wheel weren't working either. So I took it back in to get fixed and they kept it for 2 months! Electrical things kept going wrong and they wouldn't give me updates unless I reached out to them. Ultimately ended up the auto start never got fixed and I was out of my vehicle, making payments on it for 2 months. It was the most stressful, awful buying experience I've ever had. I am a single mother to two kids, they tried to take advantage of me, unfortunately succeeded, and I'd strongly urge people to go elsewhere. read more

I purchased a used car from them and during the whole purchasing process I felt like I wasn't being respected, sales people were very condescending and I felt taken advantage of. Two weeks after purchase it started having issues driving. I brought it to a mechanic who told me it would need a full transmission replacement. (Would cost over $8000 without insurance or a warranty to cover it!!) ever since purchase communication with the dealership has been AWFUL!!!! It took a week and a half of me calling every day and getting voicemails or people passing me around not helping for me to give up and email the owner. Only then was I responded to and finnaly got them to actually submit their paperwork to activate my warranty I bought with the car purchase. Now it's been a month since buying the car. I've been able to drive it maybe 3 times and i am going to a diffrent dealership to get it fixed since this place is clearly incapable of helping me and fixing this problem that they sold me. I'm incredibly disappointed and upset. I feel taken advantage of, disrespected as a person and screwed over. AVOID!!! read more

The only issue I had was that I bought a used vehicle from them great car but there was a smoker in there prior to me getting it. The smoke smell had been masked over to where I initially never smelled the smoke. I was unable to drive the vehicle for 2 weeks due to my work. When I got into it after the two weeks you could definitely tell that this vehicle had been a vehicle that a smoker had been in. I brought this up to the dealership who stated that all they would do is refer me is someone so I could get it done at my cost. That one thing took every good things and threw it out the window. Weirdest experience at a dealership so far. Went home vowing to never return, but also kind of feeling sorry for the salesperson. He was friendly and polite, but also lied a ton. Someone coach him to the good side, please. I went to test drive a Rogue after work on a Wednesday with my partner. It was dead, with five or so salespeople hovering outside when we drove up as the only customer. We were greeted promptly, by the 'new' (he said he'd been there a month) young-guy. He seemed awkward but friendly. Unfortunately he didn't know his stuff, but proceeded to make things up anyways. I think if he was given better training and instruction he could be fine. Unfortunately lies from a car dealership pretty much guarantee I won't be doing business with them - even if they have the best deal in town. The whole interaction was off-putting: 1) Asked 'what is your monthly budget' within first few minutes. Congrats if you can get that out via natural conversation (i.e. via an uniformed customer), but not something you ask. We already told him the year range we were looking at and the model. Don't make yourself unlikable so quickly. Talk about your deals or the total price of the car, or maybe smooth it up a bit and wait to ask that. 2) Lied about endless features of the vehicle, including: MSRP, mpg, trim features, safety features, etc. Note: I like to ask questions that I already know the answer to in order to gauge a) how much they know and b) how honest they are. If you don't know the answer all you have to say is 'I can't recall, let me grab those details for you before you go', and shut up. I understand there is a learning curve, but to be there a month and not know basic stats of your best-selling car is lazy. To make up stats because you don't know the answer is outrageous. One exception is that he admitted during our test drive that he didn't know the ground clearance, but then strangely said that he didn't think anyone else at the dealership would know that either. Odd flex, but ok. That is a super common SUV and CUV question. Just another red flag. 3) At this point [before the test drive] we actually asked 'hey we understand you are new, but since we are on a bit of a time crunch do you think there is another salesperson who is perhaps more knowledgeable that we can talk to'. He refused to get anyone else. 4) Got the keys to test drive a Rogue, but turns out it was very low on fuel. No big deal. But instead of grabbing keys to another vehicle we were asked to go to the gas station with him. We asked 'is there no other vehicle here that we could test drive that already has fuel'? He lied and said no. So we went with him to a gas station, then did a very shortened test drive (our choice) ... because at this point we were ready to be done with that dealership. Side note: We oddly test drove a newer car with plastic wrap still on the seats. Couldn't get a real feel for the drive or ride comfort. Would have been better to drive a lower trim model with no plastic wrap. 5) Upon return, he politely asked if we had anymore questions. We told him no additional questions, thanks for the help and test drive, shook his hand and said goodbye. He wanted to get the manager for some reason. We waved him off and told him thanks but no, and goodbye about three more times. We literally drove away while he was jogging inside. Read the room, buddy. Super awkward. So... I debated about posting this because on one hand he comes across as a nice guy who could be fine at this with the proper training. My guess is he has been given the 'slimy' hard-sales training, but is just bad at it. Dude should study up and/or go work for the nearby Toyota or Honda dealerships where they appear to be more ethically minded in their sales tactics. Honesty and low-pressure sales would look better on you. But on the other hand, he repeatedly lied to us, so we will definitely not be purchasing from them.
