I've already been exclusively coming here over any other movie theater, but after today, Bellmore playhouse has a set customer for as long as I live on Long Island. I didn't get the employees name (guy w/ dark hair & mustache...manager?) but he reissued my 2 month expired gift card from a Groupon. I was expecting to be told NO, as it was my fault for not using it...& I wanted to make the cheapest purchase, as I had a $25 Groupon expiring tomorrow (for movies & concessions). I was told the cheapest was a $2 candy bar. Not only did I get the $25 put onto a gift card, I was told to keep the candy bar b/c "we love our customers". Everything depends on the day and time you go i guess. You drop your phone, you kinda wish you could just say goodbye to that phone forever. Because looking for it and having to touch the sticky whatever that hasn't been cleaned in who knows how long kinda makes me sick. You get tickets and the theatre is filled with dozens of middle schoolers screaming running around, no seats available, except for the seats in between groups of kids if you're lucky. They do nothing to actually deal with the issue. Like sometimes I wonder why they're even allowing a classroom worth of 12/13 year old friends in Rated R movies?? And this is almost every single movie I've been too. I've literally had to leave the theatre during my movie about 3-4 times. And continued giving chances. I've sat through movies with some annoying people. But I mean kids blasting music, running around, screaming, I cant deal with that. But i mean if it's 11 am during the week, kids are in school, the price and selection are worth it. read more

Went to the 7:20 showing of "It" last night, We were greeted with "the theatre may or may not be clean when you walk in" from there is went down hill. Walking into the screening room it was a mess, pop corn on the floors garbage on the seats , not to mention the house lights were up and that only magnified the oil spots on the seat headrests. As we sat waiting for the movie to start the kids (12-14) starting piling in, It has an R rating there was zero supervision, by the time the movie started there was roughly 25 to 35 kids horsing around and playing on there phones. I went to the office and asked for the theatre to handle the situation and they did, an employee came in and threatened to throw them out, once he left they acted back up. he did this 3 times in and out It wasnt till the movie was half over that he finally asked kids to leave. Once again the second he walked out with the kids he threw out , the rest acted up. Yes I could have left and asked for my money back , but why should I have to be inconvenienced. Unfortunately this is how the whole movie went. The theatre has an advertisement in the previews "Why go to Levittown for recliner seats when you can now get that here" I will go to Levittown nie because they clean there theatres and keep control of there unruly cutomers. I attended an event here on Saturday, November 12th. It was sponsored by the Girl Scouts of Nassau County, who were well-intentioned in selecting a "mom and pop" business. The GS Council effectively organized three theaters full of scouts and their guests. The problem was with the theater... To begin with, they were completely unprepared for a group of our size. They were still preparing the included popcorn and drinks when the movie was supposed to start. They then placed what little they had on a folding table at the front of theater and told us to help ourselves. As you can imagine, two huge lines formed and they quickly ran out. At 10:30 (thirty minutes after the planned start time), they started the movie with more than half of the people not yet served. It ran for fifteen minutes, and they STOPPED it to continue serving, which consisted of two employees bringing what popcorn and drinks they could carry, then leaving again. After waiting another twenty minutes, they resumed the movie. Troop leaders and parents gave up and went out to the counter to just buy refreshments (and oh, yes - they charged their full, inflated prices despite us being part of a group that was supposed to have these things included). While in the lobby on line, I witnessed the organizers of our event trying to bring the refreshments into the theater themselves, only to be told "that's for our parties, you can't have those". I understand that this venue hosts parties, but as they were clearly not even ready for us, they should not have been simultaneously hosting parties. It was totally disorganized, and unfair to the children (some of them as young as five) to keep them sitting around. The GS Council of Nassau Co. is what I'd consider a big customer if I were a business owner; I don't see how they would EVER host an event here again. My troop alone bought $360 in tickets. Multiplied by the many troops that attended, that is a lot of money to spend to be treated the way we were. Lastly...the theater is filthy. Even when we first arrived, the floor was sticky and dirty. The bathroom started out dirty, and by the time we left I would have preferred to use the bathrooms in Penn Station. I would much rather patronize a business like this, than a huge corporate multiplex. Unfortunately, I will never go there again. Came in to see Minions. Theatre is FILTHY. No cleaning staff between showings. Apparently they believe in self cleaning by leaving a SINGLE, FULL garbage can in FRONT of the screen for everyone to toss their garbage in. This place was much better before the current owners took over. Claiming there was a birthday party in here. Still no excuse for leaving it in this condition for the incoming crowd. read more

This review is specifically about the party room that they rent out for events. Let me just say love love love!! I recently had my baby shower here and every staff member that I have had the pleasure of encountering were amazing! (It was a movie premiere ready to pop theme). Every staff member had such beautiful personalities and the party was a hit! It was so beautiful! They supplied the chairs and tables, free popcorn and free soda. I believe they provided us with the cups as well! It came out better than ever We were able to bring our own food and drinks and the price was very affordable! If you're thinking about it or debating if you should have your party here or not, think no more the answer should be YES go for it! I will definitely be a reoccurring customer for birthday parties etc. in the future! read more

This theater is a dump. I sat through a wonderful movie which was a distraction to the fact that the theater had no heat. Every one around me was bundled up with their coats on. When the movie ended, a few customers were annoyed and one of them told the front desk attendant that there was no heat in the theater and that it was very uncomfortable and she asked for a refund. The attendant "Julianne" was extremely rude. No need for me to go into the details of the conversation. Suffice it to say that Julianne was abusive and mocked the woman (who by the way was a senior citizen, and I disclose this observation because there was no need for such disrespect for any complaining customer but certainly not for an elderly person). Management needs to alert the customers if the heating system is down and train their employees to be kind, respectful and how deal with sensitive situations like the one I experienced. I was not involved in this argument but I was appalled by Julianne's behavior and reaction to a simple matter. read more

I really don't understand this place. I walked in and there was a woman holding a baby selling tickets and there was a stroller behind her. Absolutely unacceptable! Not only is that a serious health code violation but it is also very dangerous. Not to mention I went to the women's bathroom (which is in dire need of a renovation) and there was no baby changing table. Where is that woman changing that poor child?!? Honestly the only redeemable things about this place are the new chairs and nice staff that offered to carry the concession items I bought into my theater. Because of that I will come back but I hope that baby isn't still there, then I would really need to call that in (CPS/Board of Health?)! So wrong! :( read more

This is the dirtiest, smelliest theater i've ever been to. I can't find a single adult to say anything to. The theatre is full of food, wrappers, and napkins and i got the same excuse as the last time I was here "we are understaffed". If you can afford new seats, why can't you hire more staff? read more

Allowed 40+ 10-13 year olds into a rated r movie. Some were actually using booster seats. Terrible experience.

The Bellmore Playhouse movie theater was a terrible experience to see a movie. as we came to the door all excited to get our tickets the men greeted us very rude we then figured he was just having a bad day which everybody has as we got our popcorn and drinks we walked over to give the next man to give our tickets we went to the theater room which are movie was being played we open the door and was surprised with a horrible stench of possibly a dead animal we complained and then they said it was fine which was rude once again so we sat down in the same theater covering our nose as we put popcorn into our mouth still taste was horrifying as you can see this is why I rate this one star do not go to the Bellmore Playhouse read more

First of all, this place is filled with obnoxious middle schoolers who run around the theater and act like animals. The people who work there are 17 years old tops and are unorganized, and simply don't care about their jobs. The place is filthy! There is popcorn grease all over the chairs every single time I regrettably go here. Me and my boyfriend went about a month ago to see justice league at 8pm. There was a party going on in the theater where our movie was going to be played. We had to wait until the party was over in order to see our movie. They had us on a line for over an hour. Totally unacceptable. Talk about poor management. So after waiting an hour, in my head I'm like ..."ok maybe they are cleaning the theater so that's why it's taking so long". We finally get to the theater, and there's popcorn and pizza grease EVERYWHERE. The room reeked of pizza, and there was pizza crusts and popcorn all over the floors. It was unbearable. Why was the room empty so long after the party ended that our screening was delayed? Especially if no cleaning was going on. I knew I should've went to AMC Levittown over this dump. I try to support small, local businesses, but it seems like the owners are trying to have the place fail and close down, it's really a shame. This place is going downhill fast. read more

I adore The Bellmore Playhouse. It is my family's go-to place for movies, hands-down. The staff is absolutely wonderful, and from what I understand, they've been bought out, and new management and ownership has moved on in; boy, what a welcome change! In the past, at the concession stand, it was like pulling teeth to get a share-bag, or cup, or any special request really, and with a large family of kids, that's a bit of a toughie! Now, the staff could not BE more accommodating! They truly do everything possible to make you feel welcome, special, and taken care of. I've also attended a children's birthday party there over this past weekend, and it was great. It was in a private theater, there was popcorn and soda for everyone, a hostess was in and out all the time making sure everything was taken care of and well stocked - just wonderful! I needed to know more, so before I went to speak with the theater staff about the parties, I talked to the mother throwing the one I attended. She told me the party she had, with 30 kids, most parents of those 30 kids, with a private theater, unlimited popcorn and soda and ALL, was UNDER $400!!! I could not believe it! I called the theater to confirm for myself, and sure enough, it was true! The theater manager told me that they like to make it a special experience for everyone, while still keeping it inexpensive and in-reach for all families. I really hammered the guy with questions I had, and he was just great in taking the time to talk to me and understand what I wanted my event to be. He also got me interested in doing little get-togethers with my girlfriends! Imagine a girl's night in a private theater?! Anyway, the Bellmore Playhouse is a wonderful place, and even more so now with the new owners and managers. The price for movie tickets and concession items are all lower than the multiplexes, and not to mention their stellar event hosting at bargain-basement prices. You also get something at the Bellmore Playhouse that you can't get at the multiplexes, and that's the small, local community small business feel; far more intimate and relaxing - especially with 5 kids! read more

Great location and selection of movies but really needs to be refurbished. The seats are not comfortable and the place seems dirty.

It's a nice little theater. For birthday parties, the children can have a separate theater, which is nice. Unlimited popcorn and soda is included, BUT only for the children. If any adults want popcorn, they will charge you an extra $25, which is nonsense, since after the party, there is so much popcorn left over. Even if the adults eat that leftover popcorn, you will be charged $25!! It's utter nonsense. I can understand better, if they had to make more popcorn for the children because the adults had popcorn, but the popcorn is UNLIMITED for children. Why charge an extra $25 because the 2 adults that stayed had a bag o popcorn. Also, if they saw adults reaching into their child's bag of popcorn, they also charge you $25! Furthermore, the hostess I had could have been nicer. She went along doing her business, but was not particularly friendly or nice, and shut off the screen immediately after the movie ended! I love to watch till the Disney movies ( such as this one was!). I am definitely not returning here again for a party. read more
