Made an appointment with Dr.Rebecca McLaughlin and was seen in about a week! The office is bright and sunny and super clean. Some country tunes playing in the waiting room and really friendly staff great you. Dr.McLaughlin was SO wonderful - saw me right on time, explained every step of the exam, and even helped me look up a new contact solution I was considering. So glad that they take my insurance (Harvard Pilgrim) AND they're just a few turns off of 395.

I was fitted for glasses with Michael, who was very knowledgeable. I ultimately made my decision after asking Michele, the receptionist. I like a woman's opinion, so sue me. The only problem was that I knew I only had $150 to spend through my insurance, the glasses I chose were $225, so let's see if I get hit with an overage bill. (would be my fault for having expensive taste ;) So -- great Doctor -- but know your spending limits :)

By mid afternoon I couldn't bear it anymore and decided to give this place a call. They were able to squeeze me in that day before the office closed. As soon as I walked through the doors, I was greeted by the front staff and given some paper work to fill out. Less than a month after getting these, strange lines appeared on both lenses, almost like the glass was cracking. They replaced the lenses once, and I was told to pay thirty-five dollars, which I did. But just couple of days later, The exact same thing happened again to the new glasses they replaced, but only on one lens. Then I was told they couldn't replace them because I had already used my replacement. The staff also said I didn't have scratch protection which I asked for my receipt and definitely they charged me for it and claimed they had warned me not to leave my glasses in a hot car when I picked them up. That never happened. When I picked up my replacement glasses, they just adjusted them and handed them to me. Nobody discussed heat or gave care instructions. If someone had told me heat could permanently damage the lenses, I would have avoided it. Instead, I spent445 dollars on glasses that I wasn't even able to use, and no one was willing to help. What a Waste of money and time. The optician who assisted me was very rude, unhelpful, and dishonest. Unfortunately, I don't know her name, but she was a tall woman with blonde hair who I spoke with during my last visit when I went to have my lenses replaced. She told me that she had warned me about leaving the glasses in a hot car, but that never happened. I find it extremely disappointing to be told something that simply isn't true straight to my face and not admit that the product is bad or simply replace the lenses or do something that both parties can be satisfied like offering to replace with small charge or any normal business will do other than blaming and lying to me. This is very poor customer service. Currently, I don't think they actually care enough to do something about it and make things right.

As a result, my distance vision is fairly good with the lenses that resulted from her prescription, though one eye is better than the other. My near vsion, however is terrible. My left eye is slightly better than myright eye, so I have to tilt my glasses and use only my left eye when I read something up close. It's been only 6 months or so since I got these new lenses from Charlton Optical, but I'm going this week to go to opticians in Sturbridge whom I've used before and from whom I've always gotten a satisfactory result. I used up my vision insurance in Charlton, but will gladly pay out of pociet inSturbridge to have my vision back. I would say that the woman who performed my eye exam at Charlton Optical wasn't qualified. Heavens only knows what kind of training she had!
