Just a heads-up about Bement Shoes "Hospital." ZERO STARS!! The owner is extremely rude and aggressive. Shoes are never ready when promised, nobody bothers to call, and when you ask about it you get yelled at like it's your fault. It happened to me and even to a couple of people behind me in line. Honestly, calling it a "hospital" is a bad joke--it's more like a stress clinic. If you value your time, money, and sanity, avoid this place at all costs. read more

I thought it was important to post this. True story. I thought it was very important to post this. I was assaulted by the owner, Ann, of Bement shoe hospital ( off forest ave). It breaks my heart because the sweet, kind and gentle cobbler, Vladimir, passed last year, and his family took over the shop. I was happy to see it didn't close. It's a long story, but the short end of it was I gave the owner Ann, the prepaid in full ticket they gave me, of which I presented to her when I got there this past Wednesday. I had left four pairs for repair. She took the ticket and after looking around, she didn't know where my shoes were. But I saw three pairs and pointed them out. I guess I made the mistake of saying " we should probably write down the color and size on the ticket " ( which makes sense). She actually yelled at me and said " it's your responsibility to know what your shoes look like !" I said " I do remember, I just found three of them " But there was a forth pair and I couldn't remember which ones. I guess I was flustered from having been screamed at. So I said I don't remember, does the ticket number help find them" She screamed again, called me a stupid Fuc!$& Bitc!?& and accused me of harassment and was going to call the police. I said please stop screaming at me or I will record you" She reached over the counter and slapped me. She again called me the F and B words again and told me she'd call police because I'm harassing her. Luckily, I DID record her. I walked out quietly and I called the police. She was shocked when I walked back in with them. They could see she was not right in the head and out and out lied to them when they questioned what I had paid for my shoes. She made up a number that was WAY lower than what I paid. They asked for the ticket and knew she lied. They saw the mark on my arm. The case was reported but I never got my fourth pair of shoes back. Her name is Ann. Short. A bit heavy. Graying longish hair. ( she's the only woman in there). Don't go there. Please don't support that store. They are a disgrace to sweet Vladimir's name and legacy. Not good! I went here for my shoes to be fixed and gave them the money.It was a lot for 2 shoes...I came in on a weekday and they said it would be finished on the weekend they haven't even done my shoes for that week and a half I've left them there. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. I had minor damage on a pair of red bottoms. they convinced me they would be able to fix the issue as they "do this" all the time. no only did they not fix the issue however they made the shoe look much worse then originally was. there was paint slapped on the shoe, on the box of the shoe and all over the tissue paper in the box. they has the audacity to charge me for their services. they are cash only so I paid them to learn my lesson. read reviews before using a new business. highly disappointed and will need to pay a competent business to fix their mess up- read more

Terrible service. I left a $60 deposit and was told I'd hear back about my shoes in a week. After 2 weeks I had to call them for an update. Finally after 4 weeks my shoes were ready. I was very excited, and I told the owner how excited I was to have my boots fixed. She complained about having to go to manhattan to get my new soles but I just thanked her. Then after paying my balance I realized my shoes still had many rips. I was upset and expressed this to the owner but she said it's not her fault since she wasn't here when I dropped off the shoes. I guess she doesn't read the ticket ? I was willing to pay an extra $80 to have the rips fixed but when I said I was no longer giving any $ until my shoes were in good shape (at this point I paid $150) she now decided to refuse my service because I had an attitude. Ann stole my money as my recipt says I would have new soles AND rips repaired. I'm very upset, left the place in tears. My favorite boots are still unwearable after paying $150. read more

This Cobbler, a Geppeto look alike (Ain't no Pinocchio there) is Fabulous! It is very hard to find a good and reasonable and good shoe repair. ----I used to go to the guy at the SI Mall location near Toys R Us , now relocated to the Victory Coral Island shopping, ---But I go out of the way not to go there since under new management.-------- Bement Shoe repair is the best, he doesn't over price you! and very good skill. I moved away upstate but bring down all my shoes and bags needing repair when I come downstate. read more

OK. This guy may do all right with the worn heels and the average shoe repair.... I came to him with the shoes I am wearing on my wedding day, and told him such. They were the LAST pair, and had a section of leather that had been neglected. The shoe repair guy just had to CAREFULLY cut out the small patch of leather. I told him they were VERY expensive. Not only did he do a craptastic job...jagged edge, unfinished look...in fact...he told ME that I "could just use a small scissor to get the rest" as, he doesn't have one small enough. WTF? And the very best part....HE SLICED RIGHT THROUGH THE LEATHER PIPING EDGE OF MY SHOE?!?!?!?!!!? f*#!@*#+*^$ Now what? I'm so bummed, and it's all because of this dude. Oh, he had totally grimy hands too, which he didn't think to wash before ruining ("working on") my bridal shoes. The lesson here, yelpers...trust your instincts. I KNEW as soon as I walked in here, that I should turn around and leave and take my shoes elsewhere. Why on Earth didn't I? I did not heed the instinct. Damn. read more

Several years ago the buckle to one shoe of my favorite strappy pair of sandals broke. I did not have the heart to get rid of them. Then several months ago I was at the mall and realized I couldn't walk in my black suede ankle kitten heels anymore. I sat at a bench and took them off and realized I had worn them down to the heels' screw! So last week (Saturday) I took them here to be repaired. (1.5 pair) I picked up my footwear today (Wedensday) Now I can again wear my cute black heels as well as my sandals. The gentleman who works here gave my sandals a new buckle and nice new heel tips (much better then when I first purchased the boots) to cover the screws. Fast quality friendly service. And to top things off this place has been around the corner from my house for years. From now on this is where I am taking my shoes after I have made good use of them. 2 years later, i have to redo my review- I can't believe I have been yelping so long.I read victoria's review and felt so bad.....she ahd an awful experience. So i went back just to check it out and saw that the place and the owner had changed....I can no longer go there...I wihs I could find the guy who ran it before... My shoes love this place- as it's kind of a little spa - or hospital. Go in tired and worn and come out looking lovely , fresh and clean! Great job on worn heels and extending the life of a great shoe with re-soles. The repairman can even stich up a pocketbook that needs help. Reasonable prices too. read more

Years ago this shop was run by a different owner who did great work with minimal hassle and he did it cheap - he once stitched a leather strap on a camera bag for me (I'm a photojournalist). The new owner is not too good. He said I had to come in to see if he could do the work even though I described the work in detail - and the previous owner had done the exact same thing on the same equipment. He made me wait while he pounded on a shoe (ok...that's reasonable) and then he said that he couldn't do the work until his wife returned from wherever, a few weeks from now. He didn't even look at the bag. I scratched my head over why he made me come in...then I went next door to the tailor's shop and they did the job for $3 in less than an hour. I had the luxury of needing a generic repair...and so it was no problem for a tailor. I feel bad for anyone who needs a cobbler because I doubt this fellow is up to the task. I could be wrong but he does not appear to have the same skill set as the previous owner. Good luck. read more

It is hard to find a reliable shoe repair store but the repairman at Bement Shoe Hospital really takes the time to do a great job, I brought in several pairs of shoes, all in different state of decline. He was very honest, saying which pairs could be saved and which ones were beyond help. He didn't try to do all the shoes and steal money from me but described in simple and detailed language what he could do for each pair. A week later, I had 5 pairs, heels and soles repaired as well as the leather and all glowing with a great shine. I saved money from buying new pairs and the ones repaired look new. I was amazed by his work and honesty, really worth going to for saving your favorite shoes. read more

Good shoe cobblers are hard to come by . I've been here several times and have never been disappointed. Duality work one on time and right .
