Owner repaired two shoes that were badly damaged all around. One was a very expensive pair of jimmy choo's and one was a cheap but very comfortable pair of heels that I couldn't buy another pair of. He brought them back to life and did a very good job. Jimmy choo wanted over $100 to repair, he did both pairs for $50. I'll be bringing my Uggs there for cleaning. The only thing I do have to say is that if you need your shoes for an event or vacation make sure you discuss with him exactly when you need them back and see if he can accommodate you. He gets a lot of orders so sometimes it may take a little longer than usual. read more

I brought a large Henkel knife with the extreme tip broken off. I thought of buying a new one for $45 dollars. But I brought it to Royal; they ground the tip down and made a new point. Excellent work! It was very inexpensive to do it too. The inside of this shop is a relic. It's stepping into the old world where craftsmen work. I would recommend this place. read more

KNIFE SHARPENING REVIEW, with a happy ending. I was looking for a shop that sharpened chef/cooking knives and found Royal Shoe Repair on YELP. I took a hopeful leap of faith since it is a shoe repair business & not specifically a knife sharpening establishment. I met with Sasha the owner who I gave 4 of my good knives that needed sharpening. He worked on them quickly and I picked them up with in an hour. I got them back and did my cutting test. I piece of paper held up and the knife blade cutting through the paper. If it slices the paper to the left or right the blade needs to be worked on that side of the blade. WEL my knife couldn't even cut the paper!!!!! These knives were not sharpened well. I was disappointed to say the least. He assured me no one has ever complained.Who cares I'm complaining now. I was so disappointed, I Took my knives and left. Sasha called me with in 15 minutes and said he wanted to RECTIFY the workmanship, HE asked f I would come back on Saturday as his friend who had a special machine would come to help fix them. He was sorry and he wanted to make it right. I appreciated that he wanted to fix the problem. I agreed to come back on Saturday - THE RESULTS ARE PERFECTLY SHARP BLADES! Poor craftmanship all around. I took a lightly worn pair of expensive designer sneakers here for repair of a small rip. They confirmed that they would be able to repair the rip like-new with very little work. I came back 2 days later and they had crazy glued the rip and painted over the entire panel of the back heel basically altering the shoe. The paint hardened immediately in contrast to the soft leather applied by the manufacturer. Upon putting my foot into the shoe, the stiff painting started to chip off and the rip reopened into an even bigger tear. I wouldn't recommend anyone take anything here that is expensive or requires detail and skill for repair, because this is not the place for that. read more

On 11/14/2017 I visited the shop to pick up a Luis Vuitton Purse I dropped off for cleaning. It was ruined! There was a sticky oil noted on the purse. When I tried to communicate my concerns I realized that the owners speech was slowed and slurred. I called 911 and when the police arrived the owner admitted to DRINKING. HE WAS DRUNK! I then returned to the shop a day later hoping to better communicate with him but he refused to offer any resolution to my problem. When you walk into the store it is messy and unorganized. When you leave your items here you are running the risk of having them be cleaned or fixed by someone under the influence of alcohol. read more

Royal shoe repair, crap. I don't care how good he is if you don't know when he will open again. Very frustrating. Never bring anything to this place. They close with no notice when opening again. Leave you hanging for your repair. The phones don't work. They don't call you either, even though they take your phone number and money. No message on the door, disgusting. This place is great! I know it's easier these days to just buy a new pair of shoes rather than getting a pair fixed but I had a pair of leather boots that I loved and wore so much that I just couldn't part with them! I figured I would give this place a try and I was so glad I did. Every time it rained my socks would get wet and little did I know that there was basically no sole left on my boots. They replaced the soles completely rather than just patching them up and they polished and cleaned my boots making them look brand new! They even saved the soles that they took off so I could see what was left and it was basically nothing, I was pretty much walking on paper. This place is reasonably priced and I will definitely be back! read more

Alex did a hack job on a zipper replacement on my child's coat. He used glue! Glue! The coat was new. He cut it unevenly and when he couldn't saw it back, he glued it and made it hard as a rock. Unbelievable! He asked for $40 to change a zipper and another $60 to fix up the bottoms of 2 pairs of women's boots. The job on the boots was poor as well. There was too great a distance between the new bottom and the actual shoe. Water would seep in easily. He was supposed to call me when the work was finished. When I didn't hear from him after 4 weeks, I went back in to check on the progress. I was very unhappy with the work. He made no apologies. He kept saying, "the zipper works, doesn't it?". "Now give me the rest of my money!" I paid $50 at drop off, but couldn't bring myself to pay another $50 for ruined clothing! To my horror, he started yelling at me and demanding money. Then, he hid all the clothing behind the counter and said that he was keeping it! There was no attempt to resolve the situation or compromise. He was a bully! Please don't go there! read more

Took a chance and brought in a new pair of shoes that needed straps shortened. Super impressed with the professional work. You can't even tell they've been altered. Reasonable and quick! I plan to bring all my shoes, boots and bags in disrepair to Royal. Had it not been for the great reviews, I would never have considered bringing my shoes to Grant City. Thank you! read more
