It is located in the Washington street mall where you order inside and can either walk around to eat your ice cream, find a nice bench or sit at one of the limited outdoor seats just outside the door. The staff was friendly and extremely fast to keep the line moving, all while letting me try 3 samples (I was very indecisive). They have GF and dairy free options which is always a bonus! As a Ben and Jerry's connoisseur, I had to visit the scoop shop during my time in Cape May. This location is exceptional. The franchise owner is a nice young man from Baltimore, my hometown. He and the other employee, an older gentleman, had the best customer service. As someone with a life threatening peanut tree nut allergy, I am always very cautious about ice cream places. They made me feel very comfortable. We gabbed about ice cream flavors and naturally I told them about my 2 page long B&J flavor rating chart I keep. It was nice to feel in the know about such a hot topic (ice cream). I ordered a scoop shop exclusive, the salted caramel blondie. I watched them open a fresh new container, just for me, to avoid cross contamination, which was very thoughtful :) My travel partner was less thoughtful and ordered a peanut butter flavor, but I let it slide this one time. We sat to eat our ice cream at the table inside and the employees chatted with us a bit more. I enjoyed the conversation very much. I hope to come back here again if I am back in Cape May. read more

It's a Ben and Jerry's at the shore, so there are a few things you'd expect, a ton of people, very little seating and sticky tables. Once you get past that, it was a great experience. My husband was able to get a non-dairy, almond milk ice cream, which is always a plus when we can find non-dairy dessert. I had the Lights, Caramel, Action. My kids had their usual, chocolate and vanilla. I loved the wooden spoons. It reminded me of eating the Jack and Jill Dixie cup ice cream in elementary school. They were perfectly strong enough to hold up to my loaded ice cream. This location is locally owned and operated so we'd probably go again. I usually like to try a local place but it's hard to find gluten free for one family member and dairy free for another so this met our needs perfectly . read more

The spoon is weak and constantly on the verge of breaking but worse of all the spoon conveys off flavors to the ice cream and tactilly a bad mouth feel. The location is small with some inside and outside eating areas (like maybe 6 tables altogether). We were greeted a few seconds after. The server was patient as we couldn't make up our minds, and when we finally did she served us right away. I had the Salted Caramel Blondie which is very sweet, even with the salted but absolutely delicious. The ice cream for Ben and Jerry's is always good but I think this flavor might be my new favorite! We took a look at the menu which offers the mainstream B&J flavors and ordered the milk & cookies (cookies and cream), cherry garcia, and mint chip and another cup of banana peanut butter. I was hoping that since I am at a B&J store, they would carry more exotic flavors but they do not. B&J ice cream ranks high in terms of creaminess and flavors, but I'm not so sure about paying $11 for two cups of ice cream (one large and one small cup). If you love Ben & Jerry's seeing an actual shop where you don't have to get it out of a container is great. But, make sure you come prepared to wait in a line because I have to say it is probably the most popular ice cream shop around. Although the line can be rather long obviously it's not their fault. They always have as many people as possible working and employees often will give you a menu while in the line so you can order asap. Was doing a quick ride into Cape May and wanted some ice cream after lunch with the family. We skipped a lot of the "local" creameries since they didn't offer dairy free options for my 1 year old (allergy). We saw Ben & Jerry's listed and know that there is typically a Ben & Jerry's non dairy option at our grocery stores so decided to give it a shot. We were worried about parking, seating, and how busy they may be. Fortunately, there is a good amount of parking nearby (metered - spent $1.85 for a Wednesday in June around 1pm, not terrible), a few outdoor tables and two small (2 seater) inside tables. The cashier was very nice, very responsive, ensured we knew what flavors they had and repeated our order back to us to ensure she had it correct. When we asked about non dairy options, she not only rattled off the non dairy ice cream options but also let us know their sorbet was dairy free (some sorbet can have cream or milk in it). I personally don't have a dairy allergy like my daughter does, but too much dairy doesnt agree with me so I tend to stick to dairy replacements like various plant milks, etc. I tried the non dairy chocolate chip cookie dough, made with almond milk and it was amazing! I wish I could give these people 100 stars. I will never go anywhere else for ice cream. Ever. Here is why: On Easter Sunday, my family and I were in B&J in Cape May. We each had a Sundae which was OUTSTANDING and when we left, we enjoyed a few minutes with my daughter at the playground. We had a great day together and returned home to Pennsylvania that night. When I got home, I realized I had left my purse in Ben and Jerry's! I panicked. I called the shop and George and Jean the owners could not have been more kind. Coincidentally, they were heading up from the shore the next day and they met me and returned my purse to me. Nice little ice cream shop in the Washington Street Mall. Everyone knows Ben & Jerry's has the best ice cream flavors on earth so there's that. Open later than a lot of the other shops in the mall which is real nice. The also offer these delicious looking waffle sundaes. Not like waffle cone or waffle bowls, but a legit, hot Belgian waffle.
