I first had Ben & Jerry's at RTC during the summer street festivals that I took my kids to last year. Ben & Jerry's gave out free ice cream (limited menu, from their van) and didn't skimp on portions. I signed up for their Birthday Rewards program and got a free scoop or cone to use the month of my birthday. I let my kids have it (told them they had to share) and the employee got wind of this and split the ice cream into 2 cones for no extra charge. If you have kids you know just how amazing this is (no fighting!). Parking is easy nearby in the Green garage (or really any of the garages) and the location is great to enjoy the treat window shopping or as dessert after eating at one of the restaurants. They also let us sample flavors and gave us cups of tap water. My kids chose Phish Food and I sampled the coffee ice cream, which I'll probably get on Free Cone Day:). I see us coming back here and paying for ice cream because of the customer service and generosity to local events. read more

Love this is little Ben & Jerry's location. The staff are always very sweet and very patient. They've been very interactive when I've felt like it, but have also been very respectful when I'm not in such a social mood. I have been coming here for several years on different occasions and have never had a problem. My most recent purchase was a chocolate fudge brownie ice cream in a cup and a pint, a pint of Peanut Butter Cup ice cream and a pint of Dirt Cake ice cream. I always eat the ice cream with raspberries or bananas. It's just so good! Even though I've never actually eaten my ice cream in the shop, they do have a couple of tables in the shop and right outside as well. It is a fairly small location, but I never stay in the shop anyways. They can be a little bit pricey, but they do support a lot of social and environmental causes that I agree with. read more

We stopped by after eating dinner at the town center. Unlike many other times today there was no line and we were in and out in five minutes. We tried the vegan dairy free ice cream and also the Cherry Garcia, and were pretty happy with our choices. The price continues to be high, two small cups for $14 - go figure ! read more

Hit the spot on a 85+ degree day. I had the dirt cake ice cream in the waffle cone. Waffle cones had a great aroma wafting through the street. Ice cream was ultra creamy and rich as expect from Ben & Jerry's along with big filled with a plethora of rounds that I could not keep track of. Service was super quick! read more

I took my family over here as the weather was great over the weekend despite everything going on. We were in and out in no time! The guy behind the counter suggested to try the new flavors which we absolutely loved! We even took home an extra pint! Who doesn't love peanut butter icecream! What a shocking disappointment. We had just finished an amazing dinner @ Jackson's and wanted to tryout a place we had never gone for dessert. My beautiful wife and I were both excited to try Ben & Jerry's. The service was fast and good. She had the brownie Sundae and I opted for the butter pecan ice cream. Although we had ordered large they were extremely small portion sizes. Obviously this pandemic inflation sizing has hit here too! We had left the shop to enjoy our desserts on a nearby bench. Wow! What a surprise we both received! My wife's sundae was bland and tasteless. My butter pecan tasted like it had stale often bitter pecan nuts. We had only taken a couple of small bites when we discarded the $15 worth of awful dessert. To our friends at Cold Stone Creamery...we're so sorry we tried something new! It was a huge mistake. I had such a positive experience at the RTC Ben & Jerry's! I wish I asked for the girl's name who helped me- but I wanted to share how much I appreciated her service. I have celiac disease and having been recently diagnosed, eating out is a nightmare for me. I either have no options, no one knows what actually has wheat, or there is no knowledge about cross contamination. It is very stressful and anxiety provoking. It's also a lot to navigate, so I don't expect much. But the young lady working was incredible! She went and got a binder that shared which ice cream was made celiac safe (made on a non-contaminated line). She also got me a clean scooping spoon and a new box of ice cream to help prevent cross contamination. I didn't have to worry at all and I didn't get sick! It meant so much to me to see how much she cared. She really went above and beyond to make sure that the ice cream was safe for me. I look forward to going back again and again. read more

Came in late on a Saturday evening, just about 15 minutes before closing. The staff was friendly and enthusiastically waiting on me to decide what type of amazing ice cream to have. A quick decision on a two scoop medium cup and I paid and was on my way. Quick, friendly service and delicious ice cream. Had my favorite, Cherry Garcia, which is the flavor that has always been my favorite. We all scream for ice cream! I forgot how much I love Ben and Jerrys until I was reminded on free cone day. The ice cream is incomparable to others in the area and there is something for everyone (yes, even your recently turned vegan friend). They also have sugar free options. My favorite are the chocolate therapy, triple caramel and cookie dough! I don't come here too often because of my waist and wallet but it's such a great cheat day addition especially in the summer time. Furthermore the staff is awesome and the company tends to partner with local organizations to raise awareness for great causes. With the parking enforced in RTC, I'm not sure they validate. The green garage is probably the closest to park. There is very limited outdoor seating but there's a park a couple blocks away if you want to sit down, relax and enjoy a well deserved cone of ice cream. read more

I'm torn between 2 and 3 stars. It's Ben and Jerry's so the ice cream is what it is going to be. 3 stars and no real complaints. However, the establishment itself was a different story. The store set up is a narrow strip of real estate - I suppose the idea is to have customers enter on one side, order, pay and then exit the other side. Now let's suppose you are not sure which ice cream you want -- people tend to go back and forth looking at the options causing a bottle neck that is tough to maneuver. Whenever I arrive at the Reston Town Center for the last decade, I usually go to Ben & Jerry's for an ice cream or milkshake fix. I was surprised to see the location has moved a few doors down. The other location was very small and difficult for people, including folks in wheelchairs, to move around. A little more space to maneuver is definitely a good thing. A lot more space would be better, and a store with many indoor or outdoor tables would be excellent. Unfortunately, I haven't found a B&J location with more than a few tables either inside or outside. This one has a couple tables with a few chairs outside the door, already occupied. This place is busy at night, especially during these hot and humid DMV summers. That means lines outside the door. I don't mind it. It's a popular store/brand. Due to popularity, it can get slightly messy or run out of straws or napkins quickly. Very surprised during the last visit, it was quite clean and stocked. They had enough attentive staff for a busy Saturday evening. So, my faves are there: cherry garcia, chunky monkey, chocolate therapy, and, a new fave for me, coconut seven layer bar (thanks to KA!) They also have new flavors (which I hope to try in the near future): bourbon brown butter and Empower mint. read more

I love Ben and Jerry's! This particular Ben and Jerry's is located in the Reston Town Center and like most of their ice cream parlors, it's small inside. There's probably one table inside for seating. I wouldn't count on being able to sit at it though as it's always busy. We just left there (Wednesday evening) and it was super packed. I don't even want to imagine how busy it is on the weekends. I usually get the strawberry milkshake. It's probably one of the best milkshakes I've ever had. It's not super sweet like those at Baskin Robbins or Cold Stone. It's the perfect balance and leaves you wanting more. They also don't add any artificial coloring to make the strawberry milkshake look pink so I guess that's cool. I'm going to give this Ben and Jerry's 4 stars because they really are understaffed for the amount of people that go there. Today the line was almost out of the door and there was only one person working. The poor worker was taking all of the orders, making them, and then taking the payments. Other than that I have no complaints and look forward to my next my milkshake! read more

Cookies and cream isn't the best, but a nice cookie to ice cream ratio. I prefer a more seamless scoop, but the spiral clump works okay too I guess. Cone sticks annoyingly to paper, as if glued until soggy. Am I a bad person to say hooray for child abuse awareness yielding free cone day? Probably. Not a day for good service - came in this afternoon and the only customer in store, at least six people behind the counter. No greeting, no hi, no how can we help, nothing. Finally I leaned over the counter top on my elbows and waited. A nice young lady came up and asked to take my order, but I had to be sure she was not busy. I took my kids to get ice cream yesterday. The employee who served us never put on gloves. With bare hand he picked up the cone and dipped it for sprinkles, scooped out ice cream from two different buckets, handed it to my daughter walked over to ring up the ice creams, took my card and swiped it and handed back the card and then went to serve the next person in line without washing his hands or putting on gloves. I wanted to take my 5 siblings out for dessert to celebrate surviving their first day of school but by the time we were done eating our dinner, it was 9pm - thank goodness for Yelp letting us know that Ben & Jerry's is open until 10pm. It was so humid and sticky out so when we arrived we were disappointed at how tiny this place was! Since there were 3 other customers ahead of us, the place was packed! Slow as can be. We were the only ones in line when we walked in. My boys picked out what flavors they wanted, but we still stood there and waited for minute. One guy was moving things behind the counter and the other was sitting down behind the counter working on a PC. Neither of them looked to be happy to be there either. One of my boys ordered a shake and the other one ordered a small cup. By the time the small shake was made, my other son finished his cup and 4 people behind us in line were served.
