Today I walked into the Ben & Jerry's in Ventura and on a Thursday afternoon and had the best strawberry cheesecake ice cream of my life. What made it the best was a guy named AJ. His happy demeanor and his eagerness to make my cone all it can possibly be won me over as the happy customer of the week! I always say great people make great businesses. Well this is the case here. The reason for the 3 stars is they one they were out of vanilla and two the ice cream did they have tasted like freezer it has like chucks of ice in it so not too good. The servers were really nice though and very informative, the place itself is fairly small and kinda of warm temperature wise only a couple tables inside and the tables outside had no chairs. To the worker working, Friday 11/14@8:42p: it wouldn't hurt to smile and actually show that you like your job, if you don't at least pretend that you do because your customers can feel your energy. I would recommend that they have a bigger menu, preferably on the glass display area. The one they have on the wall is hard to read, the one they have displayed up on the display wall is even harder to read. Most people are visual, so it would help to show the different flavors your offer. Will we be back? Probably not, the product is mediocre and the customer service is not warm/welcoming. read more

THIS IS SO BAD! The employee working Friday night May 12th should be fired. We are leaving dow town right now it's 9:05pm. My girlfriend and I walked up to get ice cream, the employee was sticking his head out the door and a group of teens / young adults were outside talking to him. He said they were closed and his friends said the doors don't lock and that they close at 8:30. It was 9:00pm and the employee and his friends were making NO sense at all... it says online and on the window they close at 9:30... he obviously was closing early to hangout with his friends. The fact that they kept telling us different reasons and his friends were answering my girlfriend when we were trying to figure out why they were closing is ridiculous. She was very helpful when it came to deciding on flavors, although it seemed they had fewer than what I remember (maybe supply issues?), there was still a good selection. We came to Ben & Jerry's to have a little dessert treat on our 10th anniversary and we're hustling to get there by 9:00 which was their closing time. We got there at 10 minutes till nine and on our way out the door was already locked at 5 minutes till 9:00. It was obvious the young men that work in there were ready to go and didn't have time for staying open till 9:00. I would have been really upset if I had arrived there at 5 minutes to 9:00 and the door was locked as I walked a long way from the parking structure just to get Ben and Jerry's ice cream. I am shocked that Ben and Jerry's can have anything less than 5 stars. But after reading the comments it is apparently for poor service. Our service was GREAT. She was friendly and answered my questions easily. She made my ice cream exactly how I wanted it with nuts and whip cream. She even put the nuts under the whip cream which is awesome because otherwise they fall off. And then there is the ice cream....it smacks! I had New York Super Fudge Chunk with cookie dough with nuts and whip cream it was delicious!!! I know you can buy a pint for less at the store, but then you end up eating a pint. I came here for some ice cream , I can't complain it is pricey but it is Ben and Jerry's. I got the peanut butter something, I forget and fudge almonds ice cream. I got 2 scoops and my friend got a scoop. Mine was in a waffle cone and hers was just a reg cone. It came out to 10 dollars. It is nice cause it is down town Ventura. The customer service was really nice. It was clean inside and outside. The parking is pretty bad there is a parking structure near by and parking in the back. Downtown is busy that is why the parking can be difficult. It is a nice date spot though there is pubs, movies, and food places in that area. read more

Happy free scoop day.. NOT! Just had the most embarrassing interaction with the OWNER. I asked him if I could get a free scoop (which is actually a half scoop) and pay for an extra regular sized scoop, he said yes and proceeded to tell the worker to only give me half scoops loud enough for me to hear. He proceeded to ring me up and I said am I paying for a full scoop or a half scoop and he said you wanted to pay for a scoop right and I said no I wanted to pay for an extra scoop I don't wanna pay for the free scoop and he said no you wanted to pay for the free scoop... what sense does that make he was arguing with me in front of 30+ customer and his employee told him she only made one scoop. I told him I was trying to help his business on a day like today where his shop is basically free and he told me to leave. No way to treat a paying customer and someone who works a few shops away from this location. Oh my God, this place is home to one of the laziest workers I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. I came her a couple of months ago with two of my coworkers after dinner. We were looking for something sweet to eat after dinner. It was around 8:30. We were waiting behind two ladies that were clearly having a hard time with the server (mind you, she is the only one working that day). After 10 minutes or so the people in front of us got their ice cream and went on their way. When it was our turn to order, I asked the server if I could sample their chunky monkey ice cream. Her response to me was the following: "Oh, I haven't opened that one yet." What the fck? What is that supposed to mean? Apparently, at this location, if this particular server has yet to open a box of ice cream, you're not allowed to sample it. My coworker asked for a scoop of an ice cream i forgot the name of and the server told her to pick another flavor because that particular one was so frozen its hard to scoop. She also proceeded to tell my other coworker that they dont have the new flavor of ice cream that was displayed in their store in bold freakin colors. Once we were thoroughly annoyed, we purchased whatever ice cream she was capable of serving and left while she proceeded to use the Ben and Jerry's phone to make a personal phone call. I also vaguely remember hearing a man ask if they closed at 10, and this woman replied "no, today im closing at 9," and continued to talk to her friend on the phone. I asked for a flavor that was written on a banner outside of the door and she gave so much attitude stating that they didn't "have those kind of flavors. I don't know what they are. Let's start off by saying customer service is not high on the list for employees that work here. I went there with a couple co-workers after dinner on a Wednesday around 9:15 pm. As we walk in, the girl employee (didn't catch her name) comes out of the back room seeming annoyed to have customers at such a late hour, mind you they close at 10:00pm. We aren't greeted by "Hello welcome to Ben & Jerry's" but instead she rudely says all the flavors are on the board, hoping to get us out of there as soon as possible. Normally, we would ask for samples to see what we wanted, but the employee seemed so annoyed we didn't want to get her even more angry. When I order a coffee and toffee shake, she says, "I'm not making shakes anymore, it's almost closing time". I'm thinking to myself WTF you don't close for another 45 minutes. Then I ask for a flavor listed on the board and just get a simple "No". Extremely annoyed now, I ask for Cookies and Cream knowing they would have that flavor just so I could get hell out of there. So if you plan to come here after 9, don't expect to get a shake or a friendly welcome. It will be a horrible experience and you will regret wasting your money there. Avoid at all cost! read more

Just because she was alone and the place was alone with no customers she could've done it. She said no it takes 10 minutes for that to heat up. So she didn't even try her best to help. When I asked about milkshakes she gave me several options and was happy to help me solve my milkshake craving. Before this, I had rated which wich as my favorite milkshake spot. The one I had here has surpassed all others. So.... I have only good things to say about this place. So by checking in with Four Square, I was able to get 3 scoops for $3!!! That's a smoking hot deal...one scoop is already $3+. I had the Chunky monkey, sweet cream and cookies and upon the employee's recommendation Cherry Garcia. I enjoyed the sweet cream and cookes the best.
