It was quite busy from the moment we came in to when we left, but the staff was incredibly friendly and tended to our questions and needs easily. The ice cream was a perfect treat and all of us enjoyed the flavors we tried out! We ranged from the seasonal Pumpkin Cheesecake (super delicious), to the Monkey Business, to the Beach Day flavor, and to the nondairy Cookies N Creme flavor. A small scoop was just enough for me and I even took the rest home as to-go as I'm not a big sweets person. But anyways, some key things is they don't take cash bills more than $20 and there's no public restrooms. There's also lots of tables outside more than inside (only 2 inside). A generous two star and only because of the product itself does it get that. The young kids working there clearly hate it, and I can't blame them. In fact I tipped well over 50%, it's not their fault. As for the product it is exactly as you would expect, decent and you know what you're going to get. The reason for the (only) two stars is the place is filthy. I am not never, ever going back, at least not until there is some evidence of a deep clean. The floor can trigger the gag reflex of the more squeamish among us. And there is clutter everywhere. No way the kids behind the counter can tend to it and the customers. I can only imagine the back of the house... actually, I don't want to. Clearly the franchise holder(s) here just don't care, they are busy enough to make money. Went in yesterday for some ice cream and the employee with the curly hair, was so incredibly rude to my kid and i. She was being super aggressive and rude the whole time while serving us. Ordered a custom ice cream cake for my brother's birthday. The I was very specific about what I wanted especially because when I ordered an ice cream cake last year from a different location, they messed it up so badly I was very hesitant to order from a Baskin Robbins again. I'm glad I gave it another shot and went to a different location. The cake decorator at this store was great. He called to make sure he understood my instructions for how I wanted the cake and I honestly don't think it could have come out any better. The printed image was perfect. The cake to ice cream ratio was spot on and the thickness of the top layer of frosting was more even than the lines in the buildings of the Getty museum. My faith in Baskin Robbins has been restored. Came in about two weeks ago and they were pretty busy had wonderful service but didn't pay attention to the change they gave me until I got home and looked at the receipt. I gave the cashier $40 for a $21 order and received only $8 back mind you they were busy and I was impressed with how fast the service was so wasn't pay no mind until I got home and not even 10mins after I left the store I called to explain what had happened and the operational manager had answered and seemed helpful gave me his number so I can send the receipt and they look into it on the cameras then I never received any answers back or call or text even when I called multiple times to ask for an update no answers or acknowledgement of what had happened. I stopped in at this Baskin Robbins hoping they had some tasty clown cones. I was greeted right away by a chipper employee who asked if she could help me. I commented that I had been hoping to get a clown cone and she let me know that they were only available by special order and required 24 hours advance notice. This made me immediately sad, as I had wanted to eat one right then. But, I guess if you have to special order them it takes away from the problem I sometimes have at other locations of getting stale, soft-coned clown cones. Instead I got a single scoop of ice cream in a chocolate dipped waffle cone. The waffle cone was delicious and crunchy. The ice cream was smooth and boldly flavored. Already made a mistake going in and getting a a single scoop then found a long hair strand in my ice cream cup. I'm grossed out and will not return. Saw one of the employee clean his hand by grabbing the ice on the sides of the display fridge with the ice particles falling on the other open ice cream containers. Asked for a refund and they weren't apologetic about it and just stared then asked for the receipt. Over heard them squabbling with each other then gave the money back. They changed the look indoor & the logo outdoor. The service varies from a few workers to 1, but they've all been super sweet. When it comes to asking for samples, they don't just give the size of the mini spoon, they actually give you a scoop as big as 2 bites out of a bucket. Let's just say a very generous scoop. If I asked to sample all the flavors I'd probably be filled with a size large cup in my stomach. Their set up of the cakes & pints of ice cream are stored neatly & different. The vibe inside is welcoming & friendly as in cheery music in the background. They still always have a seasonal flavor for you to try! I've gotten their cakes, scoops, & milkshakes. Price has increased within the past years, but let's face the fact that this isn't the only store that has! Decent price for ice cream nowadays. When you pay, don't throw away the receipt! Also sugar free pineapple coconut and fat free vanilla. Also tons and tons of other flavors. They will give you samples with no issues. They have other stuff like shakes and cakes. One clerk was at the store helping two customers who were picking up a cake. When she was ready to take our orders, I realized she didn't wear a mask and had a glove only on one hand, with which she was scooping ice cream. When I asked her to wear a mask & gloves, she said "oh my mask is over there" but refused to wear. She was holding ice cream cups in her bare hand. Baskin-Robbins has been around for YEARS in Oxnard! This is 1 of 2 locations in our town. The other joint is in south Oxnard, off Saviers Rd. Why has it lasted so long? Dependable great tasting ice cream for one thing with 31 flavors to choose from. Never once has there been a compromise in taste with any of my favorite flavors. And that's been a LONG time! Anytime we've ordered cakes from here, they've always prepared it the way we requested it and its always been on time. How do they compare to others in our area? Cost per scoop is $2.69, more than Rite Aid ($1.79), cheaper than Cold Stone (($3.29, without add-ons) and The Coastal Cone Company ($2.95, and they serve Rite Aid ice cream). Now mind you, there isn't grizzled ice cream scooping vets in here that are completely in tune with the customers. Usually, customer service consists of young whipper snappers trying to learn the ropes of the food industry while dealing with all the emotional turmoil that surrounds their complicated lives! Hah! Tough stuff, yet they seemed to have done an adequate job so far, as I can't remember a bad experience that stands out in all my years of frequenting this place. What sticks in my mind... I went in for ice cream , ordered a handful of stuff for my self and my kids. After the order was ready their credit card machine stopped working. Its not the girl in the fronts fault but they did nothing to even offer anything to be compensated. That being said my 2 year old, my son and myself being 6 months pregnant left empty handed on a 10 dollar ticket. This establishment needs better customer service and maybe a manager on site to overlook what's going ! Super disappointed especially since its the only place I can get pink bubblegum ice cream. Here it is Xmas Eve and Basking Robbins has not come thru with the gift certificates they had promised to call me about. I have visited the Ventura stores and the Oxnard stores (all the same owner) 15 times, seriously, 15 times in the last three weeks trying to get a bunch of gift certificates to give to my nieces and nephews for Xmas. The counter help often gives me a dumbfounded "Nope, we ain't got 'em, don't know when we will" type answer, tho I was able to give my name and number (repeatedly) at one store, after being told they will be there on Monday. No call back was given each week. I even spoke to the owner (I suppose it was him) and was given a promise of imminent delivery and a subsequent phone call today. Did I get a call from Baskin Robbins today? Nope! So I called them and they said they are out of Gift Certificates. So now, I have to run around Xmas eve tomorrow and try to find meaningful gifts in the decimated toy aisles of Target and the like. I am not sure if the problem is with the franchise owner, or if it is with corporate and the stone-aged paper certificates they use (Hello? Ever heard of gift cards??? This is 2009! I should be able to buy a BR gift card in the checkout line in a supermarket.), but I do know that a brand that I have had a very positive feelings for for all my 50 years is now sullied by this VERY VERY negative experience. Hmmmm, I bet Ben and Jerry's have gift certificates. Wonderful ice cream there, tho I was looking forward to sharing the 31 Flavors experience with a new generation in my family.
