We did the factory tour asa family. Enjoyed the tour and learned the process of manufacturing of the ice cream. The tour as great and Tennessee, our tour guide, did a wonderful job on the tour. The graveyard was the kicker at the end of the 6 minute movie but seeing it in person was worth it. The factory store had a variety of items that I enjoyed where I could shop for family and of course myself. I ended up getting several souvenirs for the family and myself. I loved the shovel scooper for the individual ice cream! The factory was really clean and of course we understood the privacy of the tour and had respect for the workers. At the end of the tour we had a sampling of the mango ice cream, which was delicious! At the ice cream shop, located outside, I ended up getting a honey graham latte ice cream which actually tasted more like a coffee ice cream. Should have done the butter pecan or the mango which was refreshing . There was a place to sit down and enjoy the experience. Overall, this was a Great one time experience and we always wanted to try it as we have visited Hanover for several years. read more

It's definitely a "must do" if you're in Stowe only because there's not a whole lot to do to begin with, so you might as well! The $5 tour was cheap enough, and as others have said, it was short, but I didn't mind. You get some intro remarks, a 7-minute video in a theater room, an upstairs view of the ice cream making stages, and then some facts and mystery flavor tasting. That's it! When it's too long, you'll have reviewers who say it was too long. They tell you how long it is---if that time frame is too short, and you're told the time frame, maybe don't book! We had about 30 people on our tour. People weren't even listening to the guide, Zoe, and were just chitchatting. We got some samples to try before the tour and then toward the end they gave some samples of a mystery flavor that you eat with your mouth (no spoons). There's ample parking. There is a "Flavor Graveyard" across from the parking lot, but it was closed because of the massive snow mounds to plow. There is also a gift shop/store where you can buy overpriced hats, shirts, mugs, and other things. Cheap postcards I thought were free were actually $1.50 each. Oh, come on. Because of other planned stops in the area, we had to buy a cooler bag for $12 for the four pints of ice cream we purchased. The staff were all friendly, accommodating, and upbeat. I am so confused because I swore I reviewed this place and noticed I did not when a friend posted their review! We were staying in NH and it has always been on my bucket list to visit Ben & Jerry's. It was only about an hour drive from our hotel so when we were that close, I just could not resist. We arrived on a Friday afternoon. I did want to do the tour but since we were going to be away from our dog for a while, we decided to just walk around and explore on our own. We started with the most important part- indulging in some delicious ice cream! I was so extremely disappointed they did not have my flavor. Since I was a kid, this was my go to flavor- Mint Chocolate Cookie. I obviously have other favorites but that is my ultimate. I settled for Chunky Monkey since I don't believe I ever had it but always wanted to try it ( weird aversion to it because of the name and association with a movie as a kid lol). There were so many flavors and options! I guess that's why I especially upset about not having my flavor. We had to wait longer than expected because of other customers holding up the line. The staff who served us were so great! We each ordered a single scoop but they were large scoops. Once we received our treats, we walked inside to check out the store. Although there was a variety of items in the store, I expected there to be a lot more products. I definitely felt obligated to purchase a tie dye shirt, so I did! I also purchased a shot glass. Not what we were really hoping for, I guess we visiting on a day they were shut down for cleaning and making a new flavor is what we were told. They have a graveyard for past flavors they have made, which I thought was hilarious and creative. Seems to be a place that locals like to visit on their free time. A lot of the people we spoke to were from the area and super nice, explaining some things about the different retired flavors to us. They have different times available for tours, I think the price should be different for tours when there is nothing in progress being made on that day. However, You do get a paper cup sample of a new flavor that they are working on at the end of the tour. Ours was Ice cream sandwich which reminded us a bit of cookies and cream. "You eat out of the paper cup! no spoon for you!" Sorry added that in Lol. This is their way of keeping the waste to a minimum and it actually works fine I think. Even though there's no little orange men with green hair, The staff was nice from the ticket booth to the store to the tour and the ice cream shop. We ended the whole thing with a visit to their ice cream shop were I got a Phish Food ice cream shake. The Ben & Jerry's Flavor Graveyard is a funny tribute to all the discontinued flavors, complete with headstones with epitaphs. The flavor descriptions were fun to read, and it's clear why some did not make it. Others were more surprising as some sounded pretty tasty to me. I liked that it gave reasoning for some of the discontinuations - for example, the peaches for the Georgia peach flavor were trucked in from Georgia which turned out to be too costly and too far away. I did laugh at how many pistachio flavored iterations they tried - I personally like pistachio ice cream, but apparently that's not a crowd-pleaser. It's a cute, quick stop near the parking lot for the rest of the factory. It's self-guided and a fun photo op. read more

I love Ben& Jerry's. Their ice cream is delicious and they have so many flavor options. I think the thing I like most about them is the fact that they are such a genuine company and they put people above profits. The tour only cost us $12 for two adults, but but if I'm being honest I think it only lasted about 25 minutes, which is much less than most factory tours we have been on. It consists of a video, followed by a look down onto the manufacturing floor from above, and then concludes with a sample. The tour itself is probably closer to three stars. I actually didn't care very much for the woman who did our tour. My husband was wearing the transition sunglasses he always wears when we walked in. They asked us not to take photos on the tour so we put our cameras away, but she called him out in front of the group and said he would need to take off his " spy glasses" because they are technically meta glasses. I understand a company not wanting to have their secrets stolen, but there were ways to do this other than calling him out in front of everyone and she also did it a rude way, like inferring that he was trying to get around some rule. He wears the glasses all the time and we sometimes forget that they can record if he wants to. Still, a light comes on and it's obvious to everyone if he is recording. So if she was smart enough to know what the glasses were, she was smart enough to know he wasn't trying to record anything. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt because most places have some employees that could use some training. There were a lot of people outside eating ice cream at the covered tables and there was a line for people to purchase ice cream when we came out of the tour. I think we would have had a better time had we just visited the graveyard and purchased a few ice cream flavors from the counter, but that's just me. They also have a little gift shop inside but nothing caught my eye. If you do stop by, just remember that the tour is short and hopefully you get a better guide than I did. Happy travels!! read more

We had a great time at the factory tour! You do have to book your tickets in advance because they tend to sell out. Parking was easy as there was plenty around the factory, even EV charging stations. Once you enter there's a shop you can buy souvenirs from. We waited around 15 mins for our tour to start. Our tour guide was so pleasant and funny! During the tour you get to see the workers making the ice cream, its history, and other fun facts. Towards the end of the tour you also get a free sample. Once the tour was over we went to the flavor graveyard and This was pretty cool as well. You get to see all the ice cream flavors that have been discontinued. We wanted to try the ice cream shop but the line went outside of the store and we didn't have time to wait, but I wish we could have! Been here a couple of times now. Parking is on a hill either above or below the factory. Handicap spots are in the first lot above the factory. A playground and staircase lead down the hill from the uppermost lot and the flavor graveyard. Buy tickets online to assure your spot on a tour or take a chance and buy them onsite. You can also get a cone or cup of ice cream outside where you will find picnic tables. A few seats are available inside along the wall. Restrooms are available both outside and in. A gift shop is located inside with plenty of t-shirts and other souveniers. Check-in for your tour inside on the left. The tour includes stairs to the upper level but an elevator is available if needed. Start with a brief film then move on to a glass sided walkway that straddles the factory floor. You see a bunch of machines and the containers moving on the line while the tour guide tells you about the process. Last stop is in the flavor lab that was originally used to create new flavor combinations. Walk past the photo wall of their top 10 flavors, past the restrooms and into the gift shop. If you really love B&J's the tour is worth it. If you are just curious it's not much of a tour. The flavor graveyard is a fun stop in a shady spot. The playground is a nice addition. read more

Booked this ahead of time for a family of 6. The booking process was a straightforward process. On the day off of the visit, we drove down from Quebec City and didn't know if we were going to make it back in time. I emailed the company and they were able to change the reservation to a later time with no issues. It was a straightforward process and they were very kind. To start I would like to say that I'm not the biggest Ben & Jerry's ice cream fan. I think it's OK but not something I have on a regular basis because it's not my favorite ice cream brand. With that being said, if you do like ice cream, and you are in the Stowe Vermont area I think this is a stop that everyone should make just for the uniqueness of saying you went here and had the ice cream here specifically. Sure you can get this at your market, but it's pretty cool to say you got ice cream at the headquarters. There are some cool things about this location in that there is a flavor graveyard, a children's playground, a gift shop, and even tours that you can take. I however only wanted ice cream. The wait was pretty long (about 45 minutes) and while they don't have all the possible flavors they had a wide variety and a variety of options like Sundaes etc. What I will say is that the 2 flavors we got were better than any Ben & Jerry's ice cream I have ever had from the market. We were in the area and the tickets were only like $13 so we decided to give it a try. You have to schedule in advance since they are almost always sold out and they have plenty of visitors during the summer and during oct/nov when the leaves are changing colors. It was very hot out so it was nice to get to take a tour in an air conditioned temp controlled environment. The grounds are fun, full of all kinds of Ben & Jerrys information, souvenirs, playground, flavor graveyard, picture opportunities and posters of their top 10 selling flavors, and of course places to buy ice cream. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. I asked a few questions before the tour started, and they had no problem answering. The tour experience is only about 30 minutes total. You start out in the waiting area and head up to a room to watch an informative 6 minute video about the company and plant. You leave that room and get a tasty little treat we got a little cup of ice cream nuggets (not sure of the official name), I think they were cookie dough. You then go to a viewing spot that overlooks where the ice cream is made. No photos. They explain what the 8 stations are, and we saw them cleaning which is like a 10 or 12 hour experience after they do their batch. You can ask questions and the person leading the tour answered several. Then you go to this room with some nostalgia and memorabilia for a scoop of pickle ice cream. That is what they said, but it was some other delicious tasty flavor. There were a lot more questions here for the tour host and she answered all of them. they also made accommodations for some people who could not eat the ice cream to find something else to offer them. Making reservations online was simple and the tour was a quick video and viewing of the factory production line that's at this location. It was nice to learn about the company's origins and see some of the process. I definitely enjoyed trying a scoop from the flavor lab and the tour guide was friendly. We got another scoop before we left and loved enjoying it in the lobby area with gorgeous murals. We went to the flavor graveyard which was pretty accessible even with the snow. Waterbury, VT - I feel like B&J's original factory is an essential stop when you're visiting Vermont. I mean, it's iconic, and its identity is inextricably wrapped up in the imagery of Vermont like Bernie, Cabot cheddar, autumn leaves, and the Burlington Coat Factory.... Psych! That's actually in NJ (a fact I only recently learned!). We took the 30-minute factory tour where we watched an introductory film, got to observe through an upper-level glass pane where the magic happens on the production floor (top secret - no cameras allowed!), and ended the tour with an ice cream tasting of a flavor that we were told will be rolled out in the US in the coming months (salted caramel blondie). There is more to explore on the grassy premises of the property. The Flavor Graveyard is a fun highlight where gravestones of the "dearly de-pinted" are etched with clever sendoff rhymes (RIP Honey I'm Home! My short-lived love). There's a nice little playground, and plenty of occasions for photo ops. I was disappointed that the ice cream shop sold only the common flavors that you can already find at the grocery store. No special/limited edition or nuthin. At least resurrect a retired flavor or something! However I was appeased by the ice cream tasting from the tour, and loved it even as I'm not a big sweets person. I look forward to the day when they bring more UK flavors to the US, like Sunny Honey Home. (If you can't tell, I'm mad for honey ice cream! So hard to come by here.) Maybe because I've been here before, many years ago when I was a teen, the experience didn't awe me as it did the first time (not much has changed) and feels rather commercial. This factory was just some place I had to visit. I'll be honest... not the biggest fan of Ben and Jerry's... but this is an icon that you gotta visit! I highly recommend buying tickets ahead of time. I did not do that and I was quite luckily but when I finished my tour, they had a sign outside that said "Sold out for the rest of the day" so I do recommend getting them ahead of time. They had a lot of really fun things to look at while waiting for your tour to start. They had a great gift shop, history timeline, signs listing all the best flavors, etc. The tour started on time. We got to watch mini movie to learn about B&J, then we got to see the factory floor where employees were making ice cream. We got learn the steps involved is making, packaging and shipping them. And finally we ended the tour with tasting a cup of ice cream flavor of the day/tour. The tour is very short (30 minutes or less) and you can't take photos inside the factory part. However, the tour guide was really entertaining. I was also very excited about the 'Flavor Graveyard' and it is not disappoint. Came here in the fall before we checked into our Airbnb nearby and we stopped at the flavor graveyard first. That was very cool to check out all of the flavors that no longer exist and I definitely spotted a few that I would've been interested to try. They have a really nice selection to choose from and it was hard to just choose two or three flavors. We waited over 30 minutes online in the sun and you can get pints of ice cream in the gift shop if you don't want the waffle cone or have people to share the pint with definitely check out this place and take some photos. there was plenty of parking near the flavor graveyard but also closer to the entrance as well. My hubby and I are on a road trip so we just stopped in to see where the magic is made. No time for a factory tour but loved the gift shop, flavor graveyard, cute photo ops, and the gorgeous green outdoor area surrounding the factory. Parking is past the entrance and in grass/ gravel, and the walking path is gravel as well. If you have difficulty walking I'd suggest getting dropped off at the door. There's a playground nearby that is great for running off steam if the kids have been in the car for a long time. Inside, a worker offered a free sample of a new ice cream, but the line was long outside for a paid ice cream so we left. We love our Ben and Jerry ice cream back home , but didn't get any here. The prices are higher here, too. Seems like it should be less as a thank you for coming all the way here to visit, but that's just me. Fun experience for ice cream lovers! read more

This flavor graveyard sits outside of B&J factory, after the kids play area. It's little bit of walk up to a hill. Once you enter the graveyard, you get to see lines of tombstones that have names of all the flavors that B&J has stopped producing. Some flavors are from 1980s. Each of them have their circulation years listed. The graveyard in general was clean. There are some areas full of stone and dirt. Some tombstones were is bad shape, tilted so much that they might fall soon. I found some of the names really amusing such as turtle soup and economic crunch. You gotta check this place out if you're in Waterbury or Stowe, VT! Ben & Jerry's factory store is a really fun experience. We've done the tour once (you get a sample at the end!) which our kids and us both enjoyed. Other things, we've played on the playground, checked out the "graveyard" of retired flavors, and of course have stood in line for ice cream. We've gotten the mini-vermonster on 2 occasions too (10ish scoops of ice cream, banana, toppings). The only downside here that you need to be prepared for is the parking. While the staff does a good job keeping everyone in order, parking lines can be long (and so can the ice cream lines). So, plan accordingly, especially if you go with young kids. It's all worth it because the ice cream is delicious and it is a really fun experience. read more
