It needed to be light weight and give the appearance of a costume but not over the top or Disney makes you change clothes. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Since it was my first time in they explained the process to rent or buy. I was able to try things on and was given recommendations on different witch hats. The selection was insane! Lots of really amazing and beautiful costumes. Plus lots of size varieties it seems. We had to leave to meet friends for lunch but put a costume on hold. Went back a few hours later, the place was a lot busier. Again the staff was so friendly and helpful despite being busy. I rented for now but there's a good chance I'm going to buy the costume cause I love it so much. This costume shop is a gem in Redmond!

She took my measurements, explained sizing, patterns, fabrics, looked through a book of men's fashions with me, and allowed me to try on multiple ensembles--all this for one guy, looking to rent one suit at an undetermined date in the future. Her shop is amazing, filled floor to ceiling with every kind of period costume and accessory. In the little corner of this labyrinthine place that was my fitting room, there were fur trapper's garbs, a papoose on the wall, canes, hats, crowns, a sword, and a robust selection of gentlemen's attire that gave me many options for addressing the necessesaries of my attire and equippage. Every year we walk through the maze of animatronics, jumping things, witches, clowns, and shocking figures and every year we get "jumped" by one of two of them. This year like any other you have your fair share of Adult humor costumes, the standard Witches, zombies and fruit costumes for men and women...and the kids are the Disney characters, cartoon character of the season or something a bit less "child like"... They have masks, makeup, teeth, glassed, hats and many accessories to choose from. Blood, makeup, lighting and so much more. The downfall...no bathroom. I spend about $100 a year on costume stuff, and there is always a coupon ready, a discount to be had, or someone to jump out at!

But then, I returned recently while visiting family, and had a wonderful experience. The tenant greeted us warmly, and explained which pieces were for sale and which were only for rental. She gave us some recommendations for other shops in the area as well. She was just so sweet! I tried on a selection of items, and settled on a vintage red mod dress. It was fairly priced, at about $50, and the dress was in good condition. I packed it in my suitcase, and flew home to the east coast... when I put it on for work for the first time, I felt something stabbing into my hip! I took the dress off, flipping it inside out. I pulled open the side seam allowance, and there was a huge, rusty metal clothes pin in the seam. It stabbed me! I love the dress, but I was disappointed that the shop didn't spot the pin at intake. It could have been dangerous! Overall I have positive feelings about the shop, but if you purchase second hand from here, please be sure to look over your clothing before wearing it. I'd hate for someone else to be stabbed!

D Haberdashery was one shop I am pretty sure I haven't set foot into until recently. There is a great eclectic variety of vintage clothing here and other types of merchandise. Mainly dust collectors really but very intriguing all the same. The real human skull in the display window definitely grabs passersby's attention as you go past on the sidewalk. Not sure if that's for sale since it wasn't something I really wanted despite having a taste towards the macabre. Maybe "too real" I guess. But this shop is definitely worth diving into and checking out. Chances are very good here you may have something you'd want to purchase.
