Avoid at all costs! This place is completely mismanaged. I called on August 5th to get my state emissions done. The earliest they had available was August 21st, so I made the appointment. Fast forward to August 21st.. I show up for my appointment and there was no one in sight of the counter. About 15 minutes later someone finally came to the counter and asked how they could help. I told them I have an appointment. He looked in the system and responded they can't find it in the system but they could work me in. After waiting for an hour, I asked when they thought it will be done. They said probably in a couple more hours. They then tried to make me feel like I'm lucky for them trying to fit it in. Change my oil and did not put any oil in it. I went back to them and they said it wouldn't run without oil. I have no leaks, oil in transmission and no oil in the antifreeze. My daughter took her car in to get an oil changed. Dropped it off the night before there was no check engine light on. When she went up to get the car the next day after the oil change, check, engine light was on car was running very roughly And she returned. They said to check out what was wrong They would have to charge her for a diagnostic fee. There was nothing wrong when she dropped it off, picked it up and check engine, light and all kinds of problems. This seems to happen pretty often at this particular Dobbs. my son a few years ago had the same kind of issues when they said he needed to replace his entire air conditioning system. I then went to a mom and pop shop they fixed it immediately. Im convinced Dobbs sabotaged either my tire or screwed with my alignment because now the car is shaking once I reach 60. To the major companies that accept your advertisement dollars I recommend pulling them as sponsors especially St. Louis City and the Cardinals, Dobbs are Liars and thieves. I do maintenance on my own vehicles. I've used Dobbs for vehicle inspections because it is walking distance from my home. Dobbs has recommended unnecessary repairs for my cars on repeated occasions. If you bring your car to Dobbs for any reason, I highly recommend that you don't accept maintenance recommendations and pay them for expensive repairs without having issue verified by another mechanic. Better yet, I'd recommend that you not use Dobbs at all. I've decided not to use them for vehicle inspections after they cracked my cars windshield (which they 1st acknowledged they were responsible for and later suggested they weren't) when I left my car with them for a safety inspection (which it passed) and which was found when I picked up the car from their lot. I've been told I needed front struts on one visit, didn't replace them, and they never brought it up again on multiple subsequent visits. I was told my CVT transmission fluid was dirty and needed to be changed, when I'd flushed the system a few months prior and the fluid was very fresh and clean. Again, never brought up again on subsequent visits. Fortunately, with over 40 years of car maintenance and repair experience, I can discern when work is being recommended that isn't necessary. Most people trust their repair shop to be honest and will have recommended work done. If you use this Dobbs location as your primary shop for your car's work, you will eventually pay for expensive repairs that aren't required. After my cracked windshield experience, I've finally decided that location convenience isn't enough to warrant doing business with this business that takes advantage of their customers. Bottom line, avoid this Dobbs location. read more

i have used this location for years, but I am done. The level of service has really declined, over the last fear years (in my opinion). I dropped my keys into their overnight box (because they were not open yet, when I arrived. I even had an appt). When I called to ask about my car, they stated that they were not aware that my car was there, for service. They "assistant manager". told me that I should not have put my keysi nthe drop box, because he had aleardy checked the drop box for the morning, and he did not see my keys when he checked. I dropped my keys off at 6;30, because they were not open yet. They offered me 1/2 of an oil change. What a joke! I didn't want anything free. I only wanted the service that I made an appointment to received. Needless to say, my car was never serviced. This all occurred because they did not check to see if there were any keys in the drop box (i put my keys in that box at 6am, because they were not open). I have used this location for 18 years. I will never use them again. I have given them quite a few chances, to regain my trust, over the years. Once again I made the mistake going to Dobbs. I've tried Mid Rivers, Wentzville and now Webster Groves has pulled the same double talk bs and charged more than quoted. Pointing the finger at each other, no one taking responsibility for who said what. My husband took my daughter's car in to have 1 tire checked hoping his being there would prevent her from being taken advantage of. I had to get an oil change so I figured since Dobbs was so close to my new house it would be a convenient and quick event. I was very wrong. They took over an hour for a simple oil change. I'm guessing it would've taken more time if I hadn't gone up to the counter and asked how much longer it would take. Asked for two tires and brake pads, quoted at 280 They come back with 'Your brake drums are shot, they need new springs(?) and hardware, and quoted me later at 750. When I asked the associate Id spoken to before about the earlier quote, another older associate interrupted and refused to let him repeat the 280 and insisted he go and get the associate who quoted 750. Dobb's policy as a note prevents customers from entering the service floor and seeing these 'non-functional brake drums' for myself, or any of the things they rattled off, so they could play tic-tac-toe on my rotors and Id have no way of knowing why a service suggestion was added. When asking where all these extra things came from that another mechanic said were fine, the associate at the counter made a rather off-color remark, "Well thats what happens when you let them get that bad" For the record, I just purchased my vehicle off a used car lot. There is NO reason to try and shame or blame the customer. Between rude associates and shady practices I not only wouldn't recommend this dobb's, but with shared experiences across the board Id say avoid *any* dobb's. Local does not mean better. I had a check engine light come on. Scott the "sales manager" told me I had to replace both catalytic converters and all the oxygen sensors for $2400. He said the oxygen sensors would break when taken off and usually couldn't be reused. I took to another mechanic for a second opinion, he was able to replace just 1 catalytic converter and said the Oxygen sensors DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO BE TOUCHED ON MY CAR. The "Sales Manager" blatantly lied to me to increase his stores sales. What else would Dobbs hire a "sales manager" for! This other mechanic fixed my car for $500. I have been going to Dobbs for 15 years and completely trusted them, but I think they have really changed. They put increased sales over what's best for their customers. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE I took my car to Dobbs to get an inspection and emissions test. They called later that day to let me know that my car had failed the inspection because none of my brake lights were working and my car was leaking power steering fluid. They said that it would cost $380 to fix the power steering fluid leak and $115 to run a diagnostic test on the brake lights. My husband and I decided to not have Dobbs fix these problems because we thought that we could at least look into the brake light issue ourselves. My husband followed me home from Dobbs (to ensure my safety since we thought that none of my brakes lights worked). Well, even as we left the Dobbs parking lot ALL of my brake lights were operating fine. Since Dobbs had obviously lied to me about the brake lights, I assumed that I should not trust any part of the inspection. We took my car to another location (NOT a Dobbs) to get the car inspected again. The technician at the 2nd place agreed that my brake lights were functioning correctly and when he checked for the leaking power steering fluid he could not find any signs of a leak and said that my power steering fluid was full. In short, Dobbs made up issues with my car and tried to charge me $500+ to fix things that were not broken. read more

My daughter went to Dobbs at the Sulfur Springs location for oil change. Simple, right? When she started her car to leave the shop the oil filter fell off and all the oil drained out. Dobbs, of course, blamed the oil filter as being faulty. After (3) total hours of waiting (mostly outside due to Covid), Dobbs replaced the oil and oil filter for the 2nd time. No discussion of any refund or any other compensation for her aggravation and their huge mistake. Being the father of a single daughter who obviously was being taken advantage of, I called the store manager on my daughter's behalf. Not especially customer friendly. However, we did get a complete refund for the oil change after repeatedly asking for it. I went to Dobbs because I thought my power steering was going out, They are close and it would be convenient. After they called and told me that I needed a whole new steering column at the cost of $2650.00, I chose to pay them the $30.95 "diagnostic" fee and went to pick up my car. The woman at the counter was pleasant, I paid my money and asked where my car was. She didn't know and said if didn't see it out front, then it must be in the back. I found my car, drove it home. When I got out of my car, I looked down at my hands and they were black with grease from my steering wheel. I called the store and asked to speak to the manager, the man who had answered said he would get Danny on the phone. A man named Scott answered, he said he was the service manager. I told him that I have never had a car serviced anywhere and returned to me with grease covering the steering wheel. He said they were busy and just had to hurry to get my car down to give back to me. He apologized on the phone. I certainly understand how this happens but I feel if their technicians are going to treat my car interior this way and not even try to keep it clean, I just don't want them to even touch any part that might impact my safety. I feel that the lack of care probably extends to all parts of my car. Definitely will never go back- and it is less than 5 minutes from me. read more

DO NOT BUY TIRES HERE. They make you buy "road hazard insurance" which is common, but the catch is when you need it. I had 1500 miles on my new tires when I got an a piece of metal in one tire that couldn't be repaired. I took it to Dobbs to get a new tire under the "road hazard insurance". To my surprise, this is their policy (which wasn't explained to me or given to me until AFTER I purchased the tires originally): They charge a "USE" fee of 30% of the new price of the replacement tire. This "USE" fee is charged not only on the price of the tire, but on the price of installation and the "road hazard insurance". I was trying to buy local...give the local guy the business. I now find out that Firestone, Goodyear and Costco all prorate the usage based on ACTUAL tire tread used, and, the most important part, the first year is covered 100%. I spent over $1000 with Dobbs this year, and they lost my future business over this ripoff. read more

I do not think I will be going back to Dobbs on Manchester. Went in for a tire rotation and oil change and left feeling insecure and frustrated. I have two front tires that are getting bald and they wanted me to change them. I told them I didn't want that right now for financial reasons and that I just wanted them rotated. The guy that I talked to told me he was concerned about my "safety" and that I should change them. I told him no yet again and that I had my father looked at them a month and a half ago and he didn't think it needed it and they guy preceded to laugh at me. I am a women and felt completely disrespected. They refused to rotate my tires because of liablity which I accepted and understood but I will never be going back because of the absolute desrespect I received because of my gender. I do a lot of my own work on my vehicles and know when someone is running up the bill. $1300 is what they told me it would cost to get the vehicle to pass inspection. I brought several of my vehicles to the Dobbs on Sulphur Springs. I have spent several thousand dollars there. And it first I thought they were a good, professional, reasonable auto store. On the front of it it looks like oh they're giving you good deals and give me good discounts and they'll even put you in a truck and take you to where you live and come pick you up. But the more and more business I took their the more I realized they were unprofessional, expensive and like many of the other reviews of said recommending unnecessary repair. I went to them to see about tires for my Jeep. Basically what they did is they tried to do a buy 3 tires get one free but it was on more expensive tires than I needed or wanted. I went somewhere else down to Firestone and got the exact same stuff including alignment for $300 cheaper. Turns out they were acting like they were giving me a big discount on my allignment but in fact were up charging it by 85 bucks. Then just today I made an appointment for 11 a.m. for a simple inspection. It took them 7 hours and then there was no apology no anything for why it took so long.
