I called to schedule service and I scheduled a day but no one confirmed or came. Kept calling back and kept being told yeah we will get you right into the schedule and probably tomorrow and they would never call back. It's been nearly two weeks and still no call back and no appointment and now my pool is green and needs an expensive drain. I do not recommend this company. read more

Let me tell you a story. I had a leaking backwash slide valve and made four trips to a competitor, wasting time and gas trying to buy O-rings and identify the correct part. They couldn't figure it out and eventually gave up, telling me they didn't stock the part and that I should try ordering it online. I then found Benchmark Pool Supply online and went to their store at 3017 W. Bullard Ave in Fresno. The sales rep immediately identified the part, but they didn't have it in stock. Instead of sending me away, he called Bryan at their other store at 811 Barstow in Clovis. They FaceTimed and discussed the issue, and Bryan confirmed he had the complete valve assembly at a very reasonable price. I had my pool equipment fixed within 5 minutes. It really makes a tremendous difference who you work with--saving time, money, and gas. You can go to a store with inexperienced employees who don't seem to care, or you can work with knowledgeable, caring individuals like the staff at Benchmark Pool Supply. As a new customer, I can only speak to my own experience last month. My aging Polaris 360 pool crawler needed a major rehab if not replacement. Internet offers I found for replacement ranged from about $400 to Leslies' quote, $574. Lewis Kos, Benchmark's new owner, urged me to bring my machine in for diagnosis. As I watched, Lewis disassembled the cleaner, changed several small parts, rehabbed others, replaced three worn-out tires and then reassembled the machine. Now, for only $53, my pool crawler does its job as though new! read more

Boy they sure went downhill, I've used them for 7 years, not anymore. I asked my neighbor why he did buy from them, he said they are expensive and John the owner is a smart aleck. I've purchased many items from them. I bought a new pool filter, they gave me the wrong one. Instead of bottom lines it had side lines. I opened the box, and made it work, it took much longer to install. Never complained, they made mistakes on other parts had to exchange them, never complained. The final straw was, I check prices with them on pool filters. Got a price, went back a week later and got a higher price from John. Ask him way so high, when their competitor was less. He goes on line and said no they are not, he check for one filter, not 4. Wanted to argue with me, online they were $170 less. John said those were not good quality filters. I called Hayward, they said there was nothing wrong with them. I now see what my neighbor said. I will say Sandy is great, but passed that I will not shop there anymore. read more

I had called on Tuesday to inquire about pool services. The guy who picked up sounded pretty rude up until I told him I wanted services, that's when his voice kinda changed. But because my husband and I needed to get our pool going, I brushed off his rudeness and moved forward with scheduling an appointment for Thursday at 2:30pm. Thursday comes around, with it being 5:20pm now - and we still have not heard from them. No call, no headup of being late or notice of needing to reschedule. So unprofessional! We like to support small businesses but they have showed us they do not value professionalism nor courtesy. Thankfully we did not get to that point of signing up for monthly pool cleanings, as they probably would not show for those either. read more

WARNING: I don't even know where to start. We have a salt water pool. They only ever added chlorine and shut off salt!! Numerous complaints to Sandy, she said that it needed to happen when hot. They changed their routes and left us off. I called they came one week and never again. We actually got a bill for May and a bill for spring cleanup. We fired them in April. They were charging for services NEVER done DO NOT USE!! read more

We purchased an older home in the Fig Garden area last year, and it came with a pool built sometime in the 70's. The person that flipped the home went with the most inexpensive setup possible for the pool. They set the pool up with an above-ground pool filter which was incredibly small for our pool, and a single-speed pump which used a ton of electricity. We needed some help, and John was a great resource to help us get things going in the right direction. We consulted with them an selected a new DE filter and variable speed pump after hearing about the options we had. Martin came out and installed the new equipment and did a fantastic job explaining everything after programming the pump based on what our needs were. Very important to note, that the old pump used 110v and the new one required 220v. John ended up resolving the situation by helping with the electrical himself at no cost to us. The other thing I appreciate about this operation is that they are there to help you DIY if that's your thing. I've never once have had a time where John or any of his employees have attempted to sell me on pool service. I like doing my own pool, it's relaxing and there's some pride in having a nice clean pool in the yard. John has always been respectful and responsive to our needs and that's where I go for my equipment and supplies now. Lastly, his prices are fantastic compared to the big box stores and pool supplies chains. read more

John the owner is one of the most knowledgeable experts on pool service in the valley. I won't go anyplace else for advice on products and service of my pool. He could have sold me so many things I didn't need that a larger chain store would always try to push on me as something I "had" to have. We just started using their pool service at the end of March and has been nothing but headaches. We don't get a set date for the service, so it's a guessing game as to when they are going to show. We had a lock on the gate one week so they couldn't get in (completely our fault) asked them to come back out and they gave us a day to come out never showed. Had to call back again. Tried to say the following week that the gate was locked again which it wasn't, the padlock was on but not locked, plus our ring app never recorded them being out. (Unless she is a ghost and it didnt pick her up). We are now at the beginning of May and again this week no show no courtesy call. The padlock has been off all week to make sure they come in but nothing. Canceling their services and going elsewhere!!! read more

He tested my water I brought In and just gave me their 4 gallons liquid chlorine and made a smart comment. At least tell me I have combined chlorine and I need something else to clear up my pool. I went to Benchmark, which is located behind the D & L Roses at Blackstone and Minarets, to pick up some test strips. The gentleman there was very knowledgeable and explained what I needed to do to get my pool back in whack. As a new pool owner, a lot of what he said to me was Greek; I tried to concentrate and soak in what he was explaining, but I never did very well in Chemistry. Anyway, I bought my test strips and he thought that I should shock my pool as well. He gave me a packet of shock for free (I think it was worth about $5) and he just said "just remember who gave that to you." I told him that I would indeed remember and be sure to return for my future pool needs. read more

I am so happy with Benchmark Pool and Supply Service. I made an inquiry to have my pool filters cleaned and my poor pool needed TLC. I had previously taken samples to various other places to be tested but everyone said something different. I took my water sample in to Benchmark, and low and behold, John said they had state of the art testing. They certainly did. John mixed a great cocktail for my pool and it now looks fabulous, and the chemicals are perfect. It's been a long time since it looked this good. They also cleaned my filters quickly with great service. They are very professional, and yet friendly. There are absolutely no sales pressures or pushing. after one more visit to this pool supply place, thought it was time to give them the compliments they deserve. ALL the employees are helpful, know their business, are patient, and most importantly, they listen and don't try to sell you the dozens of chemicals that Leslie's and other places (but mostly Leslie's) insist you need for whatever pool problem you're having. got so so sick of going into Leslie's with an issue, and my little bottle of pool water, and they ALWAYS had a new idea of what was wrong, and a new product that I "just had to have". 30 plus years of listening to them do that, with blank stares when i'd tell them that i'd never needed this new product before..... so I tried valley pool and will never go anywhere else. it's so easy to get screwed around by all the so-called "needs" for the many, many products now on the market, but the guys at valley pool never push their products and gave me credit for knowing what I was talking about as I discussed my pool. no blank "leslie" stares. they listened, and let me decide what I did and didn't need, once they realized that I had a bit of experience taking care of my pool. (and i'm a woman to boot...) so give them a try - if you need help, they offer it and it's good. if you need stuff and know what you're doing, they respect that and don't treat you like you don't know your filter from your pool sweep. you won't regret giving then your business. best of all, today I got a refund on an algae product that I bought a few weeks ago but didn't like cause it "foamed" a bit. didn't have a receipt, but without question, and with apologies, the guy that was helping me gave me a full refund. didn't expect that - brought the old bottle back just to dispose of what was left. but $26+ refund with a smile. ya don't get that much any more...... read more
