If I could give a few negative stars, I would. My friend booked the rental and it although it didn't seem new or modern as other rentals, he was kind enough to book it for us. However, I wished he had Googled reviews on them; because they are not kind. The week before we were to leave, he received a call indicating the hot tub would not work. They didn't offer to reimburse for the false advertisement; and indicated they would think about it. But never call to say one or the other. Another friend of mine rented a vacation place in Sunriver and received a similar call, but with a $100 reimbursement. This place did not. On the first night we got there, I was the second party of many to arrived noticed the place was decent. Nothing glamorous or spotless, it was simply there. Since we arrived late in the night, we made dinner. When I went to use the microwave, it didn't have a handle. You can see the only way to open it is to pull the section in which the handle used to be. Daily, everyone left to hike and snowboard during the three day weekend. We cleaned the place after each usage. We hung out at the home playing board games we brought. Nothing insanely crazy to cause any damages to the house. When we came back to Portland, my friend received an angry phone call. He indicated the lady screamed at him and sent him pictures of damages done to the house: the missing microwave handle, a hole in the wall never a doorway, and an uncleaned section of the wall next to the toilet. My friends and I were all shocked at these accusation, since we didn't do or caused them. None of us caused them, yet they indicated we did. Ironically, the pictures were of the house, but they didn't match the items currently in the house. For instance, the picture with the hole in the wall had a rug reflected in the glass panel, but I remembered there were two rugs in the same spot, which seemed fishy. As for the microwave handle, it wasdefinitely broken before we arrived. The plastic seems worn out, something that would take months to shown the run down, chipped plastic; not an indicident only 2-3 days off. This rental property has been nothing but poor and forgettable. I don't recommend anyone renting from them. Very unprofessional and a $300 bill in addition to the rental to show for it. LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES! I didn't read the Yelp reviews before I booked our Thanksgiving holiday in Bend. Please read them and save yourself the heartache many of us have experienced with this rental company. READ THE FILTERED COMMENTS TOO. My family and I decided to stay at the "Georgia Peach" over Thanksgiving. The house was lovely, but working with the rental company was an absolute nightmare. I would highly suggest you find another rental company for your stay in Bend. I booked the rental on 11/9 and was overcharged right away. The refund took 6 days to be returned to me. When we left the property we had washed the dishes, cleaned up the rooms and put a load of towels in the washing machine as stated on our contract. I got a phone call Friday, when I got home that two towels were missing from the property. Because I was traveling with my sisters family I told the woman I would call my sister and see if the towels were in her luggage and call her right back. My sister did not have the towels in her luggage, so I called the woman back and left a voicemail. I also sent an email confirming that my sister had put a load of towels in the washing machine and these towels must be with the others. I did not hear anything back from the rental company. Sunday I logged into my bank account to balance my checkbook and noticed I'd been charged $95 from the rental company. I called and got no answer so I sent an email stating that I wanted to know why I was charged, I felt it was inappropriate to debit my account without first alerting me to a problem. I got a call from the rental company later in the day. The woman told me that FOUR towels were missing and a red blanket. I told her we did not have the towels and we never saw a red blanket in the living room the entire time we were there. I asked her to have her manager please call me on Monday. The manager called me at 1:15pm Monday and right from the start, I feel, was very abrupt and rude on the phone. She interrupted me multiple times and would not give me straight answers to my questions. She went from making a confusing situation, maddening. And I find it suspicious Friday afternoon we were told it was two towels, and then Sunday we were told it was four towels and a blanket. I tried to speak with her about this, but she interrupted me and said, "I've been doing this for 9 years, and no one EVER has the stuff that is missing" and cut me off. I also think you should also read her comments posted on yelp. At this point, there are 14 reviews on Yelp and 9 of them are either 1 or 2 stars all stating the same (or similar) issues. This is not a fluke; I am not the only one that this has happened to. Please do not let it happen to yourself. read more

We stayed at Tall Timber for a nice get away weekend to celebrate our friends getting married- nothing crazy- nice house and spacious- we had a great time! No complaints until I got an additional $65 charge on my credit card - called to inquire and they said it was for dirty foot prints and stains they couldn't get out of the rugs- we asked for pictures but were quickly declined. I do have a photo of us without our shoes on in the house as this is a "no shoe house"- we are a respectful group and respected the homes wishes to take off shoes at the door. We did not have any spills so not sure where the rug stains came from. There is a $165 cleaning fee which I would expect foot prints on the wood floor would be covered under this fee. Unfortunately we are quite disappointed with how unprofessional this rental company has been with this issue. I would not recommend renting from them. read more

One of the worst rental companies I've ever worked with. We arrived to a freezing rental house without working heat. After checking through our confirmation papers and the company's website, the only listed phone number was the office phone, where we got no answer since it was after hours. After spending 24 hours without heat, someone finally came over to fix the heater. Upon returning home, I was sent a barrage of text messages of pictures of "damages" that we had caused to the house. Most of these damages were absolutely and certainly already present in the house upon our arrival. After being charged $100 for these damages, I called and spoke with Sue, the owner of the company. Instead of calmly speaking with me about damages that our group actually did cause versus preexisting damages, Sue became aggressive and angry, ending our conversation by saying, "You know what, I've given you enough of my time. This conversation is over." After seeing the other Yelp review, it seems this is a pattern from this company. If you do unwisely choose to rent with Bend Dutch Vacation Rentals, I suggest you insist that pictures of the property are taken before you check in so that "damages" can't be charged to your account once you leave. HIGHLY recommended that you take your business elsewhere. I'd much rather do business with honest people than with rude, inattentive ones. read more

How I can I say what already hasn't been said. Don't ever rent from this company unless you like to see your money fly away with wings on it. I cannot believe they are still in business. The only possible reason is that people don't read online reviews before they rent. They told my wife there was a 30 day cancellation fee on the phone. Then when we cancelled a week later we were able to receive a refund from VISA because they told them the exact same thing on the phone ! Sadly their legal team was able to charge us $200. due to the CYA legal jargon on their three (yes three) page rental document ! Thankfully we didn't rent from them or we would have probably been charged an exorbitant damage deposit like everyone else, Caveat Emptor my friends. read more

This company provides horrible customer service. It lied to my party and I about their accommodations, including the size and number of bedrooms their rentals actually have. We thought we had rented a 4 bedroom house in Bend, however, the house ended up being only 2 bedrooms with a loft and living room. Yes, they counted the living room as a bedroom. When we tried to cancel our reservation, because it no longer accommodated our group of 4 couples and several children, Sue (the owner) was horrible to deal with. She refused to cancel, accused us of making threatening calls, when all we wanted was a refund, and it took weeks to get the situation dealt with. I would not recommend this company to anyone. For cancelling, Sue put us on the blacklist, but we definitely will not be using this company again and we highly recommend you do not as well. DO NOT DO BUSINESS AND/OR RENT WITH THIS COMPANY! My family and I recently stayed in one of their properties and had a terrible experience. Firstly, while the house was similar to the advertised photos, it was in a horrible neighborhood. Being the only two-story home on the street, the upstairs bedrooms had a lovely view of Trans Am's on blocks and muddy backyards; through which the lower escholon of Bend's finest would stare at you. Did I mention that many of the windows failed to have blinds? Secondly, the kitchen was poorly equipped; as related by the previous reviewer. Most troublesome was a lack of microwave..... seriously no microwave! Thirdly, the entire backyard of the house was covered in dog poo. Fourthly, one of the toilets was broken and ran (loudly) all night. On the second day it began to overflow and we were fortunate to shut off the water before it caused any damage. We called the same "Susan" who has been previously described and she offered no help. We were without that bathroom for the duration of the stay. Finally, after being thankful to have finally left the property, Ms. Susan decided to charge an additional $170 upon our credit card without telling us that she had done so. This was in addition to a $130 cleaning fee, which we had already paid! Upon calling "Susan", she was immediately combative and stated that there were fingerprints on the windows, a cooking pan was scratched, the furniture appeared to have been moved, we broke the toilet and there were two bags of dog poo. Again, the dog poo was there when we arrived, the toilet was already broken, and we never scratched the cooking pan! My family and I stayed there. There were no parties. We cleaned everything when we left and Susan is a scam artist. Upon calling Susan, we had a short conversation in which she stated that she had been doing this a long time and asked if we were calling her a liar? We tried to keep a pleasant conversation, stating that she was clearly mistaken, at which point she hung up on us. She is now refusing to answer the phone. This company is a scam, DO NOT RENT FROM THEM! Susan will demand a $500 credit card deposit and then make up damages for which to charge you. read more

We stayed at Writer's Retreat a few weeks ago and when I got back on the net to look at the other houses to rent next month, I saw these reviews and was very surprised because our house was wonderful, clean, great linens, comfortable bed, and a perfect location. I put in a call to Sue and she promptly returned it with information and help. (This was after we paid and were in Bend) I've stayed at tons of vacation homes and this one was a five star. Look on their website and other sites at other reviews. I didn't see anything negative. We will go back because Bend Dutch and Sue do such a fabulous job! read more

I used to live in Bend and wanted to spend my 50 th birthday there with some girlfriends. We rented from Bend Dutch and would do it again in a heart beat. Four of us gals came up from So Cal and loved the home that we rented. It had a hot tub, plenty of rooms and convenient to town. Since I am a professional chef we did have some dinners at the house and found it to be stocked with all the basics and very clean as well. The manager, Sue, was accommodating and very professional. We even had an issue with a dead car battery and she drove over to give us a jump...how great was that! My friends were impressed with the friendly Bend "natives". Next time I come to Bend I will definitely rent from Bend Dutch and bring my husband. read more

We stayed at Tall Timbers with Dutch Vacation rentals. The house was nice and as described in a quiet neighborhood. We presumed that it would have air conditioning and it did not (it was not advertised with air conditioning but I assumed that it would have a/c given that it was a summer rental in Bend). It was a 90+ degree weekend. The thermostat box did not work due to having low batteries so we put in new ones. We could not get the house to cool off and it felt like a sauna in the afternoon and evening. Luckily it had a nice deck and we stayed there. It was so hot at night that I tried to sleep on the floor near the window. One of the men in the group was a construction manager and he could not figure out the heating/cooling system. That really was the worst of it. When I discussed this with the Dutch rental manager, I was told that it was not advertised with a/c. True. I was also told that if we put it on "cool" that it can pull heat up from under the house! Who would know this? There were no instructions on the thermostat in regards to this. The manager in response said that while visiting the unit it was "as cool as a cucumber". We felt discredited by this remark, as though we did not know what we were talking about. We are all retired managers who are not complainers. We also explained that the lock box was defective and needed multiple, multiple tries in order to have it open. We were told that it opened on the first try and, again, we felt discredited. The tone of the interaction did not feel good to me. More minor problems were no light bulbs in some bedroom lamps and a poorly functioning kitchen sink faucet mechanism. Additionally, we had been scheduled to stay in another more expensive home and the rental company cancelled that due to septic repair. However, my credit card was not credited until I brought this to the company's attention over a month later. read more

I agree with Ashley C and Rick N - if negative stars could be given, I would too. The management are rude, unprofessional and not kind. The lock box was jammed because the key fell forward and they charged me $35.00 (on my card which they said would not be kept on file) for a service fee - stating that "we jammed the box". They also charged me an "additional night" for staying through May 31, even though the Craigslist ad stated the sublet was for the month of May. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau, but Susan Carrington and her staffer, Marie, are snakes in the grass. read more

The properties offered by BDV are beautiful from what I've seen and certainly ideal if you are looking for modern amenities in a great location. Our issues came with what we felt were unfair and unethical practices by the rental company. We specifically selected a home that was advertised to allow dogs, and paid our doggy rent for the two nights we were there with our friends. We had two well behaved dogs with us, and crated one of them whenever we left the home so they wouldn't play together unattended. One is a small and another mid-size. This home has no dog limit or weight limit listed. One of the dogs did have an accident on the carpet, which we completely understand paying additional cleaning fees for. However, the floors in the downstairs of this "dog-friendly" home are so easily scratched that even our dogs that have frequent nail grooming caused some scratching. When you arrive at a home for vacation, you expect that homes have been evaluated for their dog friendliness. There was no yard- simply a small patch of unfenced grass right over a deep cliff of sorts. The flooring was so sensitive to scratching that, although our dogs did not play or scratch on the wood floor (they prefer carpet), just walking across the floor over the course of the weekend caused damage. Upon leaving our two-day stay that already cost $1,000, we were charged an additional $200 without notice for floor damage as an "additional deposit" prior to getting a final estimate on floor repair. We were notified AFTER the additional charge was placed. As with any vacation property, you do sign a contract agreeing to pay for damage. However, we felt it unfair that this would be charged prior to notifying us. Our hands were tied with two dogs in tow, already arriving at our vacation rental to discover that it was not only NOT properly assessed for dog friendliness, but also that we would be paying for the inevitable repair of this floor. As much as we love frequenting Bend and the selection of homes offered by BDV, we just aren't fans of financial surprises and homes that are advertised to meet our needs but fall short :( read more

We rented a condo at Mt. Bachelor Village through Bend Dutch Vacation Rentals. We stayed for a full week and loved every minute. The condo was actually nicer than described, with a new bed and TV. It was quiet, immaculate, and had a great view. Wonderful. A week after we left, I realized I'd left a pair of slacks in the closet. Sue at Bend Dutch Vacation Rentals was very helpful. Normally they charge $25 to ship left items to the renter. Since my husband was making a return trip to Bend, we arranged for the housekeeper to drop the slacks at the office of Mt. Bachelor Village for him to pick up. Sue said she'd call me if that didn't work out. The day of my husband's trip, I called Mt Bachelor Village to make sure they had the slacks. They didn't. Sue called the housekeeper who said Mt. Bachelor Village refused to accept the package because we had not been their guests. The housekeeper had forgotten to tell Sue. I'm the one who forgot the slacks. Sue and the housekeeper went to a lot of trouble to help me out. My husband was in no way inconvenienced since, as I type, he hasn't even arrived in Bend yet. But because of one forgotten phone call which could potentially have inconvenienced him, Sue insisted on shipping the slacks to me free of charge. I really appreciate thoughtful customer service and commend Sue and Bend Dutch Vacation Rentals for providing it. read more

When I inquired about one of the homes advertised by Bend Dutch Rentals I received prompt and friendly followups. They were very attentive and emailed me several times. That all stopped as soon as I said "yes" to becoming a customer and gave them my credit card number. They ran my card for the full charge immediately and then sent me a contract with the terms and conditions, which included a credit card authorization form. I had questions about the form, the extreme conditions of their liability waiver (they can hold your head under water in the hot top and not be held liable) and the means of access. They did not respond to several emails. On the day we were to check in I called several times. When I got into Bend I still had not heard back. I went to the office address on the contract and nobody answered the door. Finally I received a call from Susan, the sole contact person provided, and she expressed irritation that I had left messages on her cell phone ("...if you need assistance right away, please call us on our cell phone..."). She was able to give me the simple information I needed but the conversation was painful... "I'm not working until 3 pm" The house we rented is a nicely built home and it has all of the tings the photographs indicated AND VERY LITTLE ELSE. Want to cook a meal here? Better bring your kitchen. Want soap for the dishwasher, try to find somebody who cares, because Susan can't be bothered. Last night, our first night, after going to the store to get what we needed to cook dinner I came back and learned there wasn't any salt in the house. Zero, nada, zilch. So I called Susan and asked her if there was a way to get some without driving back to the store. She had nothing to offer. Her home is about so doors down from the rental and is the office address listed on the contract, so I offered to come down and get some from her. She was horrified, and I quote, "You mean you want to COME TO MY PERSONAL HOME to get some salt?" I responded, "No, what I actually want is to have the house equipped with what I need to use it. I would like to have salt, maybe some herbs, some soap, a serving bowl. Failing that, I would like to have some salt delivered to me so I can finish cooking dinner." Susan explained that they would be sitting down to dinner herself soon and that just wouldn't work. She was truly puzzled as to why this was a problem for me. Apparently her work day is 3 pm - 7 pm. I'm OK with amateurs trying to get through the housing crash. Realtors bought up homes and then got stuck with them. Speculators bought at low prices and furnished the homes for vacation rentals. Etc. It's OK to be an amateur, it's not OK to be a chump. This is a business. Promises have been made. There is an implicit set of promises inherent in the description of what the house can be used for. Breakdowns happen. But who put the Vacation Nazi in charge of customer service? Think she's playing with her own money? It's a riddle. read more

This was the worst rental we have ever stayed in and not solely based on the property we were in. It was the management company. First off there was a mice infestation. We were given old school mouse traps on our porch step to bait ourselves.This was a month long rental that stated they had central air, well not quite just two windows units when the outside temperature was 95+. The best excuse they had was well when we sold it to you the rental was supposed to get it and in the process didn't and we just didn't let you know because the "window units were just as effective". Yeah right tell that to my sweaty 5 and 7 year old at the time. There were NO dressers in any bedroom except one in the master. (The management company to there defense did bring some super cheap Walmart fall apart ones fairly quickly.) The back yard was mud and 3 foot tall weeds. I wish I could post pictures. This management company only said if you don't like it leave. Yeah right I am going to find a rental for a family plus a dog on a moments notice. I will never use this rental company again. The lady that runs the place was the least helpful so called "manager" I have ever run in to. read more

Ridiculous! Booked a house and paid full, then two weeks later received a call saying house was no longer available due to "medical emergency" (3 months in advance?!!!) They gave me three other options at the price I had already paid. I chose and booked another house. Then received a call the next day from Aaron saying I couldn't have the new property at my original price because "the owner wasn't willing to give up her commission". Huh?! I'm still waiting for my money to be refunded! Called today only to be told "refunds take a while"! Don't waste your time- I have since found a better house at a better price with a different company! read more

This property manager Susan attempted to bully me into cleaning the windows and scrubbing floors etc. upon my departure even though my contract clearly stated cleaning is included in the cost of the vacation rental, plus I had left the house very clean. She wanted me to pay extra if I wasn't going to do deep cleaning and was pointing out wood stains on the trim from old wood. She was literally screaming at me and then called me an "insolent f*&& a$##hole" when I refused to pay extra cleaning fees. The first few weeks we were there the bathtub was clogged and they wouldn't come unclog it, I bought 2 bottles of draino myself. Two windows were broken to the outside when I arrived. She also called me multiple times throughout our stay demanding I allow her in to "show the house" to the next tenants, however, I was not allowed to look at it prior to renting it for a month! I washed the sheets and folded them and placed them on the beds but she said I was supposed to make the beds, I wonder if they are having tenants wash sheets and make beds, how clean they really are? How do we know they were actually clean? gross! This was the most unprofessional, horrible experience I have ever had and I would not recommend anyone rent from this woman again. The house itself was old and stuff like the vent cover was falling apart and I continually tripped on it. VERY small house. read more

Some friends and I recently stayed at Tranquility House in Bend for a concert. The location--walking distance from the venue and a slightly longer walk to downtown--was GREAT. The kitchen was also very well stocked for making simple meals. While there was a glitch upon checking in, Sue handled it immediately and professionally to everyone's satisfaction. I would definitely recommend this house--and Bend Dutch Rentals--and plan to stay with them again. read more

I have the exact the same thing to say as the other two reviewers. Although I wish I could give it less than a one star rating. We chose the place because of it's closeness to Downtown Bend and because it was pet friendly and from the pictures it looked kid friendly as well. The only thing that was holding us back was the $130 cleaning fee, others in Bend, were less. Like the first reviewer we were treated well until they got our credit card. When we emailed Susan Carrington with a simple question we never got a return email. When we got to the rental we were not entirely disappointed. When I brought my dog around the side to the garage I had to tip toe around about 10-15 dog poops. We used the house, for two nights cleaned up after ourselves and then went back home. Two weeks after we used the house I was checking my Credit Card Statements and I was charged a sizable addition to the money I had already laid down for the house and the cleaning fee and the pet deposit. The following Monday I called Susan in the morning. Tuesday afternoon I get a return call with a laundry list of fees we have been charged, on top of the cleaning fee. Some of this includes "handprints on the window and excessive use of the stove." When I finally got Susan on the phone she was very combative, just like with the other reviewers. She could not give me very many specifics, although she did charge me for "two full bags of dog fecal matter." She is basically saying that my little dog was responsible for two full bags of dog poop, in TWO DAYS! She also was able to tell me that it took two professional cleaning people 7 hours to clean a 1600 sq ft house. But that was not included in the first $130 cleaning fee. My wife and 4 year old daughter could clean our 3000 sq ft house in less than 7 hours. When I tried to get more information from her comeback was "she has been in this business 8 years and this is how it is done." When I finally asked her why she could not call me and go over the charges with me, instead she just charged my credit card, she said this is how the business is done. When I informed her that I am in the rental business as well and I would never treat anyone as she has, she hung up on me. So to make a long story short , DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY, I have already made several complaints through certain agencies, including the Better Business Bureau. Also if you have used this company, re check your credit card statements for fraud from Bend Dutch Rentals. read more

As above, if I could give a negative star I would. I rented at Bend Zen..great place but Sue was difficult to work with from scheduling the place to the very end. I could go into detail regarding reasons not to book with this company but honestly I think the ratings do and will continue to speak for themselves. I can't, with any integrity, give this place even one star - and it's all due to the rental company/owner (because that's who she claimed to be on the phone). I wish I had taken the time I didn't have to read the reviews prior to our stay. We stayed at Mt Bachelor Village #218 and were told there was a/c. Well, there was but it was a small unit inside on the floor in the living/dining room that you couldn't feel if you stepped more than 3 ft away. Both bedrooms were sweltering! We literally couldn't sleep a wink because it was so miserable. They provided 4 towels and it listed it as 6 person unit. So, 6 people have to share 4 towels. That's really the least of it. We stayed only 3 nights and because of the weather (and it being so hot inside), we ate out every meal except breakfast. We used a pan, 5 bowls, about 4 plates, a couple glasses, and silverware over the entire 3 day stay. I ran the dishwasher before we left the last morning as instructed in the check-out process (the ONLY time I ran it). My husband went back in to ensure we hadn't left anything behind and noticed water on the floor under the dishwasher. He cleaned it up, left and let me know. I phoned the rental company (HUGE mistake) to give them a "courtesy heads up". Four days later I receive an email at home informing me my credit card on file has been charged $110 for the "repair to the dishwasher"! Excuse me? I ran it as instructed and ONLY ONCE and you're charging ME? I called the next business day to address my concern and ask why. I was immediately transferred to someone named, SUE, who was very rude, unwilling to hear what I had to say and kept putting me on hold. "Sue" told me that they had to have a repairman look at the dishwasher and it was decided that I used regular dish soap in it, causing it to "suds up" and he had to run vinegar through it to clear the excessive suds. I explained that I used the bottle of dish washing soap that was provided under the sink. "Sue" continued to repeat herself and stated that she has no proof that that's what I used, she was just telling me what was told to her. I told her she had no proof that I didn't either. The conversation went no where. The next day, I received another email from "Maria" this time stating it took "3 hours to dry the carpet" but THERE IS NO CARPET - IT WAS VINYL! The money isn't the issue, it's the principle of the matter. They are obviously scammers. I would stay FAR AWAY from this place or any where that uses Bend Dutch Vacation Rentals. They are crooks in every fashion of the word. read more

Recently stayed in Bend on a list minute decision weekend trip. Love Central Oregon! Very Beautiful sceneary and lots of outdoor things to do and good food. Floating the river was one of the highlights. And when you come here, definatly try Baldy's BBQ on the westside -Yumo! Weather was a little smokey due to forest fires burning, but overall it will be a definate repeat next summer. We stayed at a BDVR property, a condo at mt. bachelor village resort and things went really smooth. The unit was pretty nice. Updated, very clean, stocked with the necessary supplies. It was great to have an on-site pool and AC to keep us .....it was like 90 degrees.....sizzle. We'll check with them again next year. Don't sweat the small stuff like salt, just pepper instead! read more

We enjoyed an unexpected pleasure during our visit to Bend, which was free admission to the High Desert Museum. We made this trip on a budget so it was a great tip and a treat for the kiddos. Our cozy condo worked perfectly for us with the sofa sleeper and didn't pinch our wallet. We will be back as soon as we can afford it and will pass this place along to friends. read more

Although the house we rented was very comfortable and clean I agree with other reviewers that the management is not kind. We rented a home that allowed pets and they had asked that shoes be removed at the door. We have a short hair, low shed dog and the weekend was dry and lovely. We were charged an extra cleaning fee with the explanation there was dog hair on the couch and a foot print on the carpet. I called to assure that the pet was not on the couch and we took shoes off but the nickle and diming was of more importance. I had already decided they were charging too much for the home but this put me over the edge. read more

We rented a house in Bend, Oregon for 4 nights from 9/2/16 - 9/6/16 through Bend Dutch Vacation Rentals. At the end of our stay, we called the company to notify them of the 6 issues that occurred during our stay so that they might correct them before re-renting the 4 BR house. The most significant of these problems was that the garage door opener failed to operate on our third day. Instead of apologizing for the Inconveniences or offering a rebate, they charged us for "breaking" the garage door opener. Once notified of this, we made 11 calls to the company to discuss and resolve this issue yet the company only returned 3 calls, 2 with voicemail messages, and one where a discussion actually ensued. The owner, Sue, was unreasonable, inflexible, and refused to accept our explanation of what really happened. I wish we had read the Yelp reviews before dealing with this business. It appears they have a history of shoddy customer relations. We would never do business with Sue again. read more

Do not use Bend Dutch Vacation Rentals! Recently reserved a home for 6 adults for a weekend stay. At about 5:30pm on the day of our set arrival we were informed that the house we booked was not available because it had not been cleaned. I was told that they would find another home for us. As we were already on the drive to Bend we had little choice but to go forward. I received another call telling us he upgraded us to a four bedroom, gave me the address and we were on our way. Upon arrival we discovered the folllowing: one queen bed was broken and we had to put that mattress and boxspring on the floor to be usable, one bedroom had no door, another bedroom had bunk beds, the fireplace was not hooked up. I had picked the original home because it was a 3 bedroom with queen beds, as we were all adults we did not want bunk beds and of course we all wanted privacy so a bedroom door would have been nice. I complained about the bedroom situation, broken bed, lack of privacy etc and the only solution I was given was that there was also a hide-a-bed in the living room. At that point we just had to make the best out of the situation. Upon returning home I sent an email describing the issues with the home along with a couple of other minor issues. I asked for a one night refund and was told that they would give me a free night if I booked for a three night stay, I again asked for a one night refund based on the fact that I did not get what I had paid for. I was told by Sue that we had been "upgraded" to a "four bedroom" and that she didn't think we would need a fireplace in March. Ummm...excuse me but I wanted a fireplace and that is what I paid for as well as bedrooms with doors. I didn't feel those were unreasonable expectations! Sue then decided to take things a bit further by stating that we had moved furniture and they had to pay someone to come and put the furniture back. I had no clue as to what she was talking about as the only furniture we moved was the mattress and boxspring as the frame was broken, slanted and dangerous. She went on to claim that we moved living room furniture which was a complete fabrication on her part. I still to this day have no idea what she is talking about. She then offered to refund $100.00 of the $900.00 spent that weekend which I accepted to be done with her and Bend Dutch Rentals for good. I've never been subjected to such poor treatment by any type of hospitality company. Sue should find another line of work as customer service is definitely not her calling. read more
