UNIQUE is the descriptor that I think best fits Daniel McClendon's art. He starts with a blank…read morewooden "canvas", covers it in black or white, then randomly adds strokes of the opposite color. To see this happen is an experience that is close to unbelievable. Daniel then studies the result and magically uncovers an animal in those random brush strokes... From that point his creativity transforms the canvas, bringing out that animal in the most unique, colorful and unexpected ways. We were instantly fascinated with his work when we passed by his studio, which is itself just an amazing, inviting, comfortable, place to spend some time. Daniel himself is likewise an amazing, inviting, comfortable person... If you are anywhere near Asheville, and have any inkling that you enjoy impressionistic art, colorful abstract art, or just art... Stop by and meet Daniel, he's just a great guy. Ask him about his kids and you will see he's a great dad too. We have a lake house and wanted something that fit into the design of the place, so we waited, watching his creations as he posted them on his web site. Our first painting is an Eagle that happened to show up in several of his videos. We called and said that we would love to have this painting. He delivered it halfway to the lake as he took his kids to a park in Greenville... It now hangs over our fireplace. Our second painting was a Pheasant. We enjoy hunting Pheasant and this painting just resonated with us like the Eagle did. The Peasant is in our bedroom now. Recently we saw a Seagull with a fish below it. When we look out any window in our house we are likely to see a seagull diving for a fish dinner... We found a spot for the Seagull in our dining room, immediately called Daniel to hod it for us. He called when it as dry and we recently drove up to bring it back to its new home. We are huge fans of Daniel, not just because of his UNIQUE art, but also because of his personality. Stop by and see if you agree with me on both counts.

I was intrigued and fascinated by Robert Hoffman's art. He works with a lot of ceramics and creates…read moreplates, dishes, cups, and serving pieces. His technique is to press the design of lace into the ceramic piece before it is fired in a kiln. The result is the amazing and intricate ceramic pieces that are just magnificent. I wish that I had brought a piece home. There are other designers and artist in the studio. I loved the fox sculpture. It looked so lifelike and was very light. The only thing that stopped me from purchasing that piece was the price tag-$900. But, really for a sculpture by an original artist, that is not bad. It is just out of my range. There were paintings and other forms of art. The studio has a variety of artists and beautiful pieces. I would recommend stopping by and the artist are there and will talk to you. I loved learning about their work.

PARKING There's a massive private parking lot outside the warehouse-style building. Available spaces are endless ~ You won't have a problem finding a space. II. SERVICE Accommodating and informative. They'll go out of their way to help you here. III. QUALITY Vast amount of selection of artwork on various mediums. I like this specific location because everything is up for purchase. So, it's not like you can just observe and move on ~ you can actually buy it if you want it.

The instant you walk through the door, it is obvious that this place was built on love and intention. The space is filled with art from floor to ceiling but doesn't feel cluttered. It kinda feels like a big, warm art hug when you walk through the doors. A lot of the art has a kind of "hippie/spiritual" vibe to it. The art filling the studio is colorful and expressive. They showcase multiple artists' work and have a few studios that you can walk through as well as the main gallery hall. When the weather starts warming up, they will be planing a garden and sculpture area outside as well. This outside area will be quite large, the same size as their indoor space. This is an amazing gallery and I already can't wait to go back!

There were really cool pottery and sculpture things to see and buy. The gallery surrounds what appears to be a studio area, and there are small rooms/booths for the different artists, inviting you in to see more of their work. The only negative was how crazy hot it was! I found out a little later that many of the buildings and studios in the area don't have A/C, but whew! It was a waaaarm day and man, I just really wanted a cool breeze! That said, if you are in the area and you like pottery and arty stuff, this gallery should definitely be on your to-see list!
