The tour was fantastic and very informative. As a visitor, I had subscribed to many stereotypical ideas re: Seattle, mainly just coffee, and was happy to "get to know her better" and find out the interesting real-deal tidbits. Our tour guide (Dave!) was terrific and made it even more enjoyable with his delivery and choice of info he shared. Residents and tourists would both benefit from checking into this gem in their backyard for the fun facts. We wound our way through many of the underground passageways and were appreciative of the historical photos and items. The in-sidewalk installations of prisms from above and below viewpoints was fascinating. Be prepared to walk along various types of roadway surfaces, as well as navigate multiple flights of stairs.

This was a super interesting tour to say the least! Richard was our tour guide and he actually made it so much fun. He was interactive with the tourists and he was really clever when it came to his witty little jokes. He made something that could have been very boring, very interesting. We learned so much about the city of Seattle and how it was founded and where it all began. I appreciate a place that has a rich history and this little tour that only lasts an hour helps you learn so much. If you're into history, learning interesting random facts and a good little laugh ask for Richard and take the tour. He will hooked you up!

One of the best parts of going on this tour at the beginning was the people that take care of you and so you tickets and the guide. They put together a story that you can take Home with you and explain to people what you saw. There's many ways to understand the history of Seattle. But to hear it from someone who's invested in learning the little details that make you go wow then this is the group. It leaves its way around Seattle in the underground and above ground and you get not only the underground, but history, the older buildings that are above. I was very impressed with the way that this was handled. Recommended to everyone to try it.

Walking through the original streets of old Seattle, hidden beneath the modern city was so cool! I learned so much about the history of Seattle during this tour lead by Richard. You start at 102 Cherry Street at the basement entrance. You will see the signs. There's a gift shop down there, and restrooms. You'll start there, but get lead back out through the streets, and then back down underground a couple of times. The last two areas did have a stuffy smell, but you're not down there for long. Oh and watch out for Richard, he's a jokester:P

We have visited Seattle several times before and we've been wanting to check out this tour. Carter, our tour guide was humorous and made the tour fun and interesting. While I had expected to be able to walk the entire length of the underground area, which would have been so cool, I now understand why we cannot. Definitely worth going on the tour at least once to learn about the history of Seattle.

MIKE!! Mike who I was the narrator for this amazing lesson of how the streets beneath the current streets served as the building blocks of what is now Seattle. He described everything in great detail with the historical value included. His explanation of the Beneath of Seattle was like speaking with someone who lived in the dearly 20th century and explaining with a comedic tone the reasons why, the people who suffered, and the resulting affect and consequences of the actions taken. read more

I highly recommend this tour! It's under two hours with some walking and you get a history lesson from below and above ground. Even though I've been to Seattle a few times before, I did learn a lot from this tour. The few underground rooms with old original relics was my favorite part. Wasn't as many "things" underground as I thought I'd see but well worth the trip. My guide is what made the tour extra special. He was funny, informative, and had a great all around attitude. Excellent tour with Rod. Four of us Washington residents touristing the city. There's a lot to see and learn about early Seattle and Rod was extremely engaging, made it interesting and entertaining. Our guide Dave gave us a lot of historical tidbits. Readily answered any questions and kept his ear on the questioning suppositions not actually asked. Be prepared for walking quite a bit. On the surface walk, between beneath the street sections, Dave pointed out a number of historical features. If the weather is warm you might want to bring some water. read more

I liked the tour guide/narrator, he was pretty funny and more engaging than the one who ran the tour before (arrived early so loitered around and overheard their spiel). Very interesting history, and I liked that he gave suggestions of other places to check out after the tour on our own time. Highly recommend. read more

So we went to Seattle in November. It has taken me 2 months to write this and I should have written this sooner. Imogen our tour guide was so entertaining and she instantly was so likeable and friendly. Not to mention extremely knowledgeable. Full 5 stars for Imogen. We learned so much about how Seattle was formed and all the cool details about how the city came to be and it's dark past that has made way for a bright present. They even gave us a discount for local bars that was really nice. We went with 2 kids and my daughter (5) seemed to enjoy it. read more

The name of the tour was intriguing and with my sister and her husbandm who had never been to Seattle, this was a great way to learn a lot about this city and it's history. Our tour guide Jim was excellent, shared lots of stories and spoke about the city so we absolutely had to listen to him, both down in the basement and while walking up on the street. This was such an awesome tour... I would do it again just to hear the amazing stories and see the incredible sights of a city below a city. Our Guide, Eowyn was amazing-enthusiastic-knowledgeable. She truly made this tour so much fun as well as informative. We purchased tickets from Viator.... BIG MISTAKE. They failed to tell us that the tickets are cheaper at the gate since we are seniors AND there is a service charge from from them that they take from the tour company. If you take this amazing tour, buy the tickets directly from the tour company . DO NOT BUY FROM VIATOR. We were in Seattle for a few days prior to our cruise and decided to take full advantage of our time there. We heard about this tour through a friend who told us (yes, told us) to take this. We are so glad we did. The history of Seattle and this section of town called Pioneer Square is amazing. Learning about the floods, and great fire and ultimately the rebuilding of this city. Besides walking through the areas both ground level and below was just so interesting. Hearing the amazing stories of what happened here were just as amazing. There are plenty of large photos throughout to help show what was, versus what is now. My friend and I had a great time on this tour. It's very cool to hear the history of Seattle and why they decide to raise much of it up one story. This decision created lots of challenges and opportunities, helping to create a Seattle that could get back on it's feet, avoid flooding, and fix the mistakes of the past...while introducing new problems and making plenty of mistakes. Our guide was Dave. He was very knowledgeable, funny, patient, and kind. He loved answering any and all questions and was great about relaying the pertinent information to the whole group if a question was asked when not everyone could hear it. I learned a lot and really enjoyed it. I must say that actual spaces we got to see weren't than impressive, just interesting and a fun part of how Seattle recovered from flood and fire. read more

Great tour of the streets beneath Seattle! There are two underground tours, and this is the newest, about 10 years going. Betsy, our tour guide, was wonderful! She was knowledgeable and patient and answered our every question! This is a great tour for all ages, but there are stairs involved! We learned about Seattle's history and indigenous population, as well as a lot about indoor plumbing! Lol! Highly recommend the tour and make sure to get reservations in advance! Try not to be late, or you'll miss some great information at the start of the tour and distract others. read more

I had no idea, neither did my son, and he's been in Seattle for at least 6 yrs. So much history, and things, you can't even imagine, that happened.... happened. Even somethings you saw, you just like wow! Our guide was small with a big personality! You have to go down a lot of stairs, and back upstairs again. If you aren't able to do this, think twice about going on this tour. I would recommend it if you're in the area! read more

Best Tour Guide Ever - Ask for Mike! Back in April, my friend and I (we're both 20) went on the Seattle Underground Tour and were lucky enough to have Mike as our tour guide. He was absolutely the highlight of the experience -- super fun, spunky, hilarious, and just a total hoot! Mike made the whole tour so interesting and entertaining. He's the kind of guide who keeps you laughing while also keeping you hooked on the history. Honestly, I don't even want to go back unless he's my tour guide again because he was THAT good. If you're in your 20s or 30s (or really, any age!) and want a guide who makes the tour a blast, request Mike. This was such an awesome adventure. Our tour guide Dave's extensive knowledge and passion about sharing the history of Seattles underground passageways and the amazing way and why they were constructed was fascinating. The humor he sprinkled here and there made it so much funWe were also so lucky to have the most perfect weather to enjoy walking the city streets and then going below. He also recommended a delicious seafood restaurant (Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar) just a block from where we ended the tour. I highly recommend this experience. read more

Imogen is so knowledgeable and funny and able to answer just about any question regarding Seattle history you can dream of. Beneath the Streets is an amazing historic tour of the Seattle underground below today's sidewalks in Seattle's historic Pioneer Square. The tour was founded by four tour guides with a combined 45 years of experience giving tours of the tunnels.

Since we went to so many different places, we got to see a lot of the shops, which gave us an idea of where we wanted to visit afterwards. We walked all around Pioneer Square and visited haunted locations. My favorite stop was at the "Merchant Cafe". We actually entered and sat in their underground lounge. It was very spooky and took a few pictures to see if I could spot anything. The whole tour was made even spookier by the actual buildings around us. The mixture of older historical buildings and closed/abandoned buildings. Beware it is rundown and many homeless people but they keep to themselves. And I also felt something push my back during one of the stops. The guide was telling us about a specific spirit that was known for being "grabby" with women. Lucy was our Tour guide for our trip here on Dec.29th. It was pretty fun. We were the only locals so i felt weird for sure! Learned some great things and felt that some things were strongly exagerated. But it was fun. Both my husband and I were a bit bummed that it was mostly outdoors and above ground. We did walk through seattle to 2 other buildings and went to their basements. One was a bar that really really needs to wash its mirrors. it was filthy in there. The first stop was really smelly and hard to breathe and we saw a rat but no big deal. It was really fun to learn things and now ill be looking at those every time we walk through seattle! I do wish there was more underground. I felt that its very misinterpreted because many of this is not beneath the streets. It was more like basements then underground. My husband has wanted to come here for many many years and i surprised him with a day out and this and he was bored for a bit but once we got going he really liked it. The do offer umbrellas which is nice. Its pretty warm in the buildings as well which was nice as its freezing. Overall it was a nice trip. I would most likely not bring kids. they would get bored but otherwise its a nice way to spend an hour in seattle. read more

I have heard many great things about the city of Seattle, but there is nothing better than being taken back to the early times of Seattle! I cannot tell you how much fun my family and me had on this tour! It felt like we were back in the times during the Seattle fire as well as during the time of the gold rush! Of course this was all because of our wonderful, talented, and super smart tour guide Jerry! I was blown away by his knowledge of everything, it also helped that he threw in comedy hour! He reminded me of a teacher in a way who was so knowledgable and made you feel like you were learning so much! Of course my family and me did because there was so much I did not know about Seattle and its existence beneath the streets. My wife and I were visiting from Nashville and learned about the Under the Streets Tour while on a bus tour of the city. The guide highly recommended taking the The Under The Streets Tour so we decided to check it out. Our guide for the Beneath The Streets Tour was a gentleman named Jim. He was incredibly knowledgeable about Seattle's history dating back to the early Native Americans who first settled the area throgh the successive tribes who settled in the area. Jim did a phenomenal job detailing the US's efforts to colonize the area before the British through land grant parcels and the early economic boom Seattle experienced through timber trade. Jim "brought history to life" as he described the fire that destroyed the city and the detailed planning that went into rebuilding and improving and it. Extremely informative! We took this tour as a means to learn more about Seattle while on a trip from Louisiana with our high school son to see the UW-Seattle campus. Dave was our tour guide and was so fun and a great storyteller! He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the underground sidewalks, the Native American culture of the area, and Seattle in general. He gave lots of great tips on places to visit during the tour that were of interest to all ages. We are not ones to do a gimmicky touristy thing, but this was not like that at all. I particularly liked the way He communicated with the kids in the group. There were two kids 10-12 which it was obvious he enjoyed. Richard was great. He knows how to make history come alive and make a tour fun for the adults without going overboard for the kids that were in the group. Enjoyed having the small group feel (only 13 in our group). Have a degree in history and most tour guides mess that up, but Richard nailed it.
