Highly recommend!! I went on the evening tour a couple months ago, and have not shut up about it since. Our tour guide, Mike, was a riot-- this guy was so much fun, an excellent storyteller and someone "in the know" that you feel like you want to hang out with off the clock, too. The way he shared the history of Seattle and it's underground, literal and otherwise-- was entertaining beyond words. Along with it's realness and rawness, Mike was also respectful and compassionate in telling the stories of hardship, resilience, perseverance and the hustling spirit. You can tell this guy has a deep love for place-- it's history and it's people-- in all their complex, beautiful, flawed glory. You will leave with colorful stories to share with others, and inspired to explore the history of your own place in a more intimate way. I bought two discounted tickets off Groupon, and I'm SO happy I decided to go with BTS instead of Bill Spiegel's! My boyfriend and I went on a Saturday in March and our group only had about twenty people. We saw some other Spiegel's tours that were packed and people in the back couldn't hear. Our guide gave the tour a personal touch by asking where everyone was from and connecting Seattle's history to where we came from. She was also hilarious and incredibly knowledgeable. Even though I'm sure she's done so many of these, she was as upbeat as ever. It didn't sound super scripted and fake, like some tours. I will definitely be taking friends and family on this tour when they come to visit! read more

Terrible waste of money, took us to the basements under 2 or 3 establishments other establishment. Underground city is gone apparently according to them. Save your money. There's nothing going down the stairs passed the curtains I felt totally misled and scammed. read more

I booked the tour just after moving to Seattle. My hope was to get a little more information on the city we planned to live in. The tour we definitely worth every penny! Our guide, Jim, was very knowledgeable and tied in some humor as well and the group was nice and small. I love historical tours of cities where you get to see things you might not otherwise see and learn the stories behind things you pass every day but don't realize. So my husband booked this tour for us while we were in Seattle. It was great! Our tour guide was Deitrich, and he was extremely knowledgeable about the city and its history. We got to see the underground portions of the city and learned about the skylights and all kinds of things that you walk over and walk past but wouldn't realize their significance otherwise. The tour was also extremely affordable, which definitely adds to the draw. Dietrich crammed a lot of information into that one hour walking tour, but made the whole thing very interesting and entertaining. We highly recommend this tour. read more

Great tour! I have done The Underground Tour in the past and I feel this one is completely better. Beneath the Streets offers smaller groups so it's easier to hear the tour guide as well as ask questions. My tour guide was Dave and he was extremely knowledgeable and witty. This made the tour informative and lots of fun! This tour company is still new and growing so they share their ticketing and pre-show with another tour company- Spooked in Seattle. It may seem a little odd to have the pre-show done in that space but it also makes me want to try that tour out as well. Overall we got to see great spaces beneath the Streets of Seattle and learned history and facts that I never knew about. Being born and raised in Seattle, and having done The Underground Tour, I've learned more about the history of Seattle and the underground origins on this tour compared to The Underground Tour. read more

Richard was our tour guide and he was super energetic, knowledgeable and entertaining! The group was small and intimate, only 6 people total, which made for a more engaging experience. The best way to learn about the true history of Seattle's historic "Underground". Unlike other tour groups, this is an intimate setting (they don't do groups larger than 25, for good reason!) Our guide Dave was incredibly knowledgeable and had an incredible dry sense of humor that made the experience all the more enjoyable. The hour long tour starts with a background of the settling of Seattle and gives you a wealth of information as to what you are about to see and experience. They take you across the street and to Pioneer Square where you see some of the most iconic underground locations. I just took this tour and thought it was pleasant and very educational tour. Our guide Dave was very knowledgeable about the material. After hearing his material you'll realize that the tours name is more truthful than their competitors across the street. You can tell that they don't give you a canned lecture like other tour guides. He has several segues in between and during questions to show you that he sort of wings it to a different topic from the one he was on. He gives you data about important figures in Seattle history and reasons why Seattle was situated where it's at right now and why past and current leaders have led it to achieve what has been a very rapid growth. read more

If you are a history buff, you will love this tour. If you have teens with you I'd probably skip it - they will likely be bored, and it's a lot of money that would probably be better spent elsewhere (I had 3 with me. Ouch.). The stories were interesting and our tour guide was fantastic and friendly, but the spaces were really disappointing. I have been on other underground tours that were such cool spaces - abandoned speakeasies that remained intact and untouched since prohibition, underground jails, shops, and whole blocks to explore - so my expectations were pretty high. This felt more like a basement and storage room tour. read more

We went on your night tour of the red light district for 18 and over at 6:30pm on Saturday, November 15th. We were really looking forward to the the adult themed tour on our last day in Seattle but the experience fell short of our expectations. When we arrived to check in we saw some artifacts from the underground and thought that the tour would actually have items setup or staged beneath the streets. There was no indication or proof of any prostitution took place in pioneer square except what our guide told us. It made it very hard to believe that what we were told actually happened with no evidence shown to us. Our tour guide was trying really hard to make jokes and they were not funny at all. My wife actually found his comment about women and their hierarchy in relationship to men very offensive. He also threw in some modern political commentary that had no relationship to the tour. Most of the tour was in the pouring rain above the streets and his dialogue was not interesting when talking about the history of Pioneer Square. It was appalling that when we did go underground we went through a closed comedy club and down below it looked like it was being reconstructed. Yet again no evidence of prostitution. He did say thought that there was a salon in 1975 and the grunge era was down there which had nothing to do with the theme of the tour. We were not impressed and felt that it did not meet our expectations. read more

The actual places we go on the tour are interesting and historic. The main information conveyed in the tour is also interesting. Our tour guide Dave however, was not interesting. He maintained a monotone voice throughout his entire 1 hour rehearsed monologue that featured his personal opinions current and past Seattle policies and history. Rather than provide new information he continued to repeat the same irrelevant facts multiple times with no added points. Even though our tour guide was awful, the company and tour itself was great, but if you get assigned Dave as a tour guide, bail as fast as you can. read more
