I needed the following work: remove an old bird's nest from my 2nd floor shower vent and attach a cover, clean out my drier vent and check the supply vents on the 1st floor with a camera as I couldn't figure out how mice were getting in the past winter. I chose Vent Pros for several reasons: their quick response (they went to my home the same day to provide an accurate estimate), communication was thorough and prompt, I prefer to support local, veteran owned businesses, fully insured, and their estimate was fair. I was concerned that they didn't have more reviews, but when Seth explained he recently relocated from RI, I was satisfied with that answer. The day off, Seth arrived with his co worker only a few minutes late but he had called to let me know he was running behind anyway. They began with the bird's nest on the 2nd floor. A much more complicated task than anticipated. There was a ton of debris to remove and it was really packed in there. Once removed, they disinfected, cleaned up the mess inside my bathroom thoroughly and then moved onto the drier. To be honest, I wouldn't have hired someone to just clean my drier vent but because he was here doing other work, I added it on and I'm super glad I did as there was a lot more stuff inside the vent and drier than I thought there would be. Seth, even replaced the duct tape I had around the vent opening behind the drier and put a more secure fastener in place without me asking and without an additional charge! I'm guessing it was because, I had expressed concern than maybe the mice were getting in through the small openings around the tape. Seth then used his 'camera on a wire thing' to check eacthe floor vents (I have a very tight crawl space and this was the best and inexpensive way to check) and sure enough one of my supply ducts was totally detached! Again he showed me the live video. Mice access mystery solved! All in all they were here 3-4 hours; on a VERY hot day I might add. After completion he did say the nest job was way more complicated and time consuming than anticipated so he added a small fee to the original estimate but I was so happy with their thoroughness, I was prepared to tip him if he didn't. Like I mentioned in the beginning, my HVAC company just cut ties with their duct cleaning referral but I bet they have one now! Wink. Highly recommend Seth and crew. You won't be disappointed.

We had an awful experience with this company. - They…read moreinstalled a defective furnace in our home that made a loud banging noise (likely a refurbished product). They gaslit us for weeks, saying we were imagining the noise. After multiple follow-ups initiated by us (they didn't want to fix it), they reluctantly admitted they heard the noise and installed the correct furnace. - According to the Town of Madison, Wilcox installed a water heater without obtaining the necessary permit for installation - proof they cut corners to save a few bucks at the expense of safety and compliance. - Upon requesting propane delivery, they delivered the propane to the wrong house (they are so incompetent that they couldn't even remember the house they delivered to), but sent us the bill! They acted like it was no big deal, showing complete disregard for the safe handling of dangerous gases. When they showed up at my house post-error (they assumed it was a gauge issue at first), they inexplicably didn't even bring propane with them to fill up the tank! Despite having "reliability" and a "commitment to customer satisfaction" plastered all over their website, the owner of the company said he "didn't have the authority" to make it right and offer a credit for the hassle and inconvenience. We were gaslit again, saying we were being too hard on them and wanted empathy for the team hustling amidst staffing issues. Based on our experience, this is a sketchy, dishonest and unreliable company despite the empty BS jargon on their website - not to mention their products and services are grossly overpriced compared to their competition. UPDATE BASED ON WILCOX DIATRIBE: In Julie's long-winded diatribe, she admits they installed a furnace that didn't work (even though she comically doesn't think "defective" is a fair word), didn't obtain a water heater permit (either before or after the installation) and delivered propane to the wrong address. She conveniently didn't address someone who claimed to be the "owner of the company" (who really wasn't) not having "authority to make it right," basically admitting their website jargon is complete BS. It would be lovely if Wilcox spent as much time doing their job (which they do very poorly) as they do writing encyclopedias in response to customer reviews. I have been looking for both a split mini duct system company as well as an HVAC company to upgrade…read moremy Central Air. I first ame across R & W during one of the Home Shows I attended. I picked up a pamphlet on the mini ducts. As time went by, I knew I would also need to update my HVAC, so whenever I got the urge to look for who people used I would surf all the social media sites and noticed most had people recommending R & W Heating. After a few years I finally decided I needed to upgrade. Made initial contact and was happy at how fast and responsive they were. Our estimate appointment went well and the overall quoted estimate was reasonable. Technicians were very knowledgeable about the HVAC systems and gave solutions for our upgrade, as well as a c recommendation for a mini split system in one of our rooms. Installation went smooth, they were on time, neat, approachable for questions about what was going on. And they ensured our system worked for not only the AC as it was the summerr, but checked to ensure the heating portion worked as well. Overall very satisfied with the experience and would use them again. Highly recommended.
