I love that they have some really good makeup/skincare lines such as Lancome and Channel etc, and that is low pressure sales as compared to the high pressure energy of a department store. I love to wonder through, testing those expensive face serums that I just can't justify purchasing at the moment, but I am hard pressed to actually leave the place without at least a few purchases. I love the work they do at the salon and brow bar. The first time I came into the salon, Montana worked on my hair. She did a great job cutting, coloring, and styling my hair. I came in a second time this Saturday. Vicent worked on my hair. You could just tell how much he loves doing hair and what pride he hasvin his work. My hair was an absolute mess when I came in. By the time Vincent was finished with me, my hair was beatiful and shiny again--I looked like a totally different person. I also have had great experiences with Izzy at the brow bar. Not only is he both kind and funny, he's very talented and takes pride in his work. He took the time to teach me how to shape my brows and apply my makeup correctly so my skin is brighter and I look younger. The esthitician in the salon is also awesome! She really knows her stuff (she used to work for a plastic surgeon). I really like Dermatologica Products, but I wasn't using the right ones for my skin type. I love Ulta for product knowledge, helpfulness and also for breaking my bank. It's great to come into a place where people remember you and know what you like and genuinely love what they do. Tonight is no exception. Dermalogica knows that I have abused my poor skin and can help remedy and prevent future damage. I love how they take their time to explain, process and procedures. Especially, that they do not make me buy all things from their brand and know there are other 'Philosophies' out there that may prove true in certain skin aspects. This keeps me coming back to Ulta. And if am to hit my credit card limit it is no fault of mine!! With that being said, I love my Ulta (yes mine I've taken possession of it...its mine!). They have all the great high end brands that make me smile (Benefit, Stila, Too Face, Lorac...etc, etc..) as well as the very affordable drug store brands (Revlon, Maybelline etc, etc..) and a special treat...they carry NXY!! They have a hefty assortment of hair products from shampoos, to hairsprays, treatments, tools so on so forth...I love them all!! All the products they carry are good quality and I've never had a problem with any of the brands I've purchased from them. Their customer service is also very good and have never had any issues with their return policy, but then again I hardly every return anything; but when I do its always been an easy transaction. What I love the most is the specials they have; the ones they advertise via mail-buy one get one 1/ 2 off or free gift with purchase....yeah I know it's not free if you have to buy something but I'm a sucker for a good marketing scheme. Every time I've gone into this location there is nobody there to help you. You literally have to search the store just to find someone if you have a question, and then you still can't find anyone. In addition, the manager Chandler gave me a hard time when I had an exchange, with my receipt. I originally paid on my card but didn't have the card on me when I was owed a few bucks back. She acted like there was no way she could give me cash back, then after wasting my time ends up giving me the remaining money owed to me in cash anyway, talking down to me that next time this happens I need to have my card. If there was "no way" to give me back the money in cash then she wouldn't have given me back the money in cash! Please do not waste customers time and then talk to them like you're teaching them a lesson. In addition, I asked her politely if she could throw out the bag that I brought the exchange in and she told me to throw it out outside. Really? The Salon: I used to go here all of the time for my nails, blow outs, and even a quick trim. I found the girls to be really sweet and they all did a great job. Yesterday, I went back and it was a hot mess. I called in the morning to see if I can make it in a little earlier - the girl that was my stylist answered and was so gruff. I showed up 5 minutes early, waited 20 minutes, and my stylist was still working on the same girl she had in the morning (her head was still wet!). I came here yesterday to model for the new salon and got a free hair dye & treatment service from Reanna. You know just walking out of BEST BUY (Next door) and she asked me if Id like a free service to preview their new salon [One DAY only] Sure enough I was bought by the word FREE. LOL The MEETING (Consultation): She walked me through everything, from my personal and hair color faves-- being bold and daring I mentioned I wanted purple and she was able to suggest a purple/red hair color-- she told me that she was going to need a lift in my hair because I had my natural hair color which was black-- The SET UP: She made me feel comfortable--asked me if I wanted water and completely walked me thru the steps from parting my hair, telling me shell be right back to make more hair dye mix and from making sure I was ok and if the hair dye was making my scalp sting The PROCESS: Reanna took her time with my hair, making sure my white hairs and my tips were covered, from root to tip. She was phenomenal at weaving the color in my hair--i was too excited once I saw the purple color come to life in my hair!!!! The RINSE: CAN I SAY SHE GIVES THE BEST HAIR MASSAGES? Yea!!! I almost passed out while she was rinsing my hair. Then did I mention she added a MOISTURE treatment in my hair? OH GOD!!! My hair felt like brand new and super healthy when I was finished. Not to mention their shampoos smell BOMB!!!! The BLOW: Their blow dryers are so cool! TOUCH SCREEN HI TECH type of ish! She asked me how I wanted my hair blow dryed--styled and where I parted my hair-- she took her time to blow dry it--style it and BAM! My hair was flawless! The OUTCOME: I love love love love love my hair! Thank you Reanna for everything! Shes amazing! Fanstastic and she is very professional, she really gives your hair some TLC! Or the 3.50 coupon off my total either. the rudest cashier that ever had a job. My family had other cashiers and the had the coupon and points allowed/redeemed. Ulta is such a treat! The staff is helpful, welcoming and they take their time with you. My own personal indulgence is getting a gel polish manicure every other week with Nancy. She is an absolute gem! She is the consummate professional, meticulous with her work and without fail I receive a barrage of compliments after my nails are done. And if her professionalism wasn't enough, her disposition is just wonderful! The whole salon staff is great. The salon manager Franco is friendly and always asking me and other clients if everything is ok and if we need need anything. Plus it's is a candy store of beauty needs and staff is always on hand to help and make recommendations. If you can make the trip down to Long Beach, I recommend you do. I really dislike this place and rather go to sephora any day or maybe a different ulta. When I first walked in I wasn't ever welcomed but as I began looking at products I was constantly asked if I needed help. I prefer to be left alone while shopping and if I have a question I will approach you. I did end up having a question and as soon as two employees finished their conversation I asked about a good face moisturizer. She showed me a few moisturizers but they were all out of my budget. Also I'd rather have a beauty store filled with products other than ones I can find at a drug store. When checking out I didn't feel welcomed or like I even mattered. Again there were employees talking so as I stood in line for about 5 min one of them finally was able to help me. Overall costumer service didn't impress me and neither did the products. read more

This is a review for the salon. I walked in and saw that their was a salon and I decided that today will be the day I get my hair balayage and cut. I walked up and someone made an appointment for me for a hour later. A hour later, I showed up and they couldn't find me on the system, apparently the girl that took down the appointment listed me as someone else. I thought they corrected the problem about who I am and my information, so I walked around the shop waiting for my stylist to get ready. Another hair stylist approached me and called me by another name and told me that my stylist was ready. I was confused about why she would call me by that name, but I didn't bother correcting someone who was just letting me know my stylist was ready. My stylist has good technique and was friendly towards me, but I do notices that this place does talk a lot of trash about clients and potential clients. When it comes time to pay I was given a ticket to go up front to pay. The cashier was friendly but she also called me by a different name because that was what shown on the ticket. Apparently, I was known by a different person and they made another appointment for me under this person. I'm definitely not showing up to that appointment, I can't even call to cancel because I don't even know what my "name" and phone number for that appointment is. I am very disappointment that I spent $200 plus tip at this place that don't bother to know who I really am. read more

I can't complain about this store, because I found great Christmas and Bday presents here. Great place to find pallets for your makeup collection. Since it's a big store I didn't feel helped enough, I had to bug the staff, But don't let this turn you away from visiting. Just bug the ladies, they will help. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE ULTA!!!! Although this place doesn't carry ALL lines of beauty products, it does carry a wide variety of products and has a pretty awesome rewards program! I went Platinum very quickly and have gotten many perks out of it. You get the mailer every month with great sales, you will also get email coupons as well as earning potential of up to 5x the points and those points equal dollars! Last time I was in I had $33 worth of points and it was one of those weeks with 5 x's the points I bought some Benefit products, used my points and at the end of the transaction was back up there in points the cashier asked if it was my Bday month cause the accumulation of points in one sale. Lol, I have figured out how to get the most out of this program and I love it! This particular location feels a lot roomier than others I have been to and I'm just use to the set up here so I think it is my favorite! I have always had great service on the store side of ulta. No complaints. I called same day to have my hair and make up done for family photos and they happily set me up with an appt. I had Montana for my hair and she did fantastic. I came in not really knowing what I wanted but she talked it over with me and did a great job. She was super friendly and we had great conversation. My make up was done by Caroline. Whole different experience. I knew what I wanted for make up and showed a clear photo. I told her absolutely no dark eyeshadow and that I like my freckles so if she used anything in my skin it needed to be light. I have great skin (which she commented on) and I never wear foundation. She proceeded to tell me that what she was using was super light coverage. Then when she did my eye shadow she showed me and asked if I wanted to go amy darker. ...I didn't want dark at all and she had done a smoky eye. Not that the job wasn't pretty, it was just the opposite of what I asked for as well as the foundation looking thick. The entire time I was in her chair I felt like she was just selling to me. I told her I didn't want an expensive lip color be I had to buy it to keep it fresh through the night and instead of paying attn she went and picked out a naked brand lip liner and stain. Not inexpensive like I asked for. I was already stressed out. I really didn't need to be sold to the entire time. She actually asked me at one point if I was ok because I seemed stressed out.... I was. More so because I wanted my hair and make up to be perfect and now felt like I should have done it myself. Going back to Montana to make finishing adjustments, she knew immediately something was wrong and when I told her, she was able to make the proper adjustments to make my make up closer to what I was asking for! I would go back to shop and recommend Montana highly for hair. Caroline needs to work on her conversation skills and try to keep sales out of the equation unless asked. :/ read more

She is meticulously clean, thorough, personable and a highly skilled brow shaper and designer. I would highly recommend her to anyone who wishes to retain or enhance the looks of their eyebrows. Yay, Long Beach finally has an ULTA! Expansive selection of makeup with a wide range of brands and prices! Hair stuff! Nail stuff! Benefit brow bar!!!! Since this store just opened, it's all nice and super clean. The only problem I kind of had was that there didn't seem to be too much available staff (and it wasn't crowded). But the cashiers were friendly and patient, and the Benefit girl was very helpful with the questions I asked regarding the brow bar! Soooo disappointed. The store is beautiful and very neat. The employees are very helpful, at every turn someone asked if I needed assistance. They were proactive and I appreciate the attention. I am disappointed because I bought a pack of mini nail polishes and grabbed the one in the back because I had a strange feeling the ones in the front could have been used. I thought everything was legit when I paid but yesterday I looked at the red polish and it is HALF USED!!!! WTF??? I know it's tempting to use the retail products as testers but this was ridiculous. I guess I would do the same if I had day and night access to nail polishes. Someone on the inside knew which one to use but that was horrible. read more

This store has become one of my favorite places to visit when I am having a bad day because it always cheers me up! The staff is so welcoming and helpful, and I always walk away with more than I had hoped for. For example, a month or so ago I was feeling antsy and decided to get a haircut. I get to Ulta, and not only does the Salon take me in immediately as a walk-in, but the sweet girl (sorry, don't remember names!) that cut my hair let me use her phone to google a picture of the cut I wanted! We talked about exactly what I wanted while she was cutting my hair, even though it took about an hour and she was nervous about making some of the snips because the style I wanted was kind of strange. It was the most interactive salon experience, and I loved it and still love love LOVE my haircut. I left the Salon feeling ridiculously confident. Then, just last week, I decided to start wearing makeup on a daily basis (I apparently make a lot of beauty decisions on a whim;) and went to Ulta to get supplies. I walked up to this poor worker and said essentially "what do I need to makeup?" The fellow took one look at my face and pointed me to the best makeup set I have ever owned! It is the Tarte Away Oui Go Portable Palette & Collector's Set and it is gorgeous! Seriously, it is the first shadow/blush/lipgloss that doesn't make me look/feel like a creature from "Where the Wild Things Are," and I am head over heels in love with the set. And I know I would never have picked it out if the kind fellow hadn't recommended it so highly. So big thanks to this Ulta for always helping me out, making me feel gorgeous, and brightening my day! I've only been to this ULTA to buy products (not services) but my experiences here have always been good. Unlike some other ULTAs, this one is actually BRIGHT and PRETTY and CLEAN. Probably because it's new, but some other ones - I'm looking at you, Cerritos Towne Center - are real worn down and messy. I mostly come to ULTA for nail polish. Usually they have an extensive nail polish selection, but the China Glaze section here seemed pretty small and they didn't have any of the CG collections (e.g. Holiday 2012), unless I missed it somewhere. They had plenty of OPI polishes, collections, and sets though! Regardless, the product selection for most items is good and everything is relatively easy to find. ULTA always has coupons; it's so easy to get $3.50 off $10 or 20% off or something like that, plus they do the normal drugstore deals (e.g. "Buy 1 get 2nd half off"), as well at their deals on the ULTA products (buy 3 get 3 free) which makes ULTA a little cheaper than other comparable stores. Employees were helpful and I wasn't harassed. It seems like there are only 5 sales associates in the whole store so it might be hard to find help if it's busy. All that said, this ULTA is great and I'm glad to finally have one in Long Beach. read more

I think they have a bigger selection of items from drugstore brands or brands that's just exclusive to Ulta like Japonese, real techniques, essence etc. they have a bigger selection of hair tools, hair products. Parking is pretty good, I haven't had any problem looking for a spot even though they share the parking area with several businesses and retailers. read more

My bestie and I were pointed to Ulta for their selection of Dermablend. Luckily we were assisted by Dee. We carefully explained what this makeup was to cover and needed some help with the color matching. If you have never used Dermablend, it can be tricky since it can change color after it heats up with your skin. Dee knew this product inside and out. She was very knowledgeable and knew just what to recommend including a proper brush for application. I used to get my brows done in the Valley with a gal I loved and she did an amazing job - probably for 10 years. During her maternity leave, I had a hard time trusting anyone with my brows. I called ULTA, spoke with Carol Ann and explained my situation, etc, She invited me in and gave an in depth explanation on how she does brows, training and her entire background. That was 9 months ago. I broke up w/my girl in LA because I fell in love with Carol Ann. She is thoroughly professional, stylish, friendly, hygienic and gives great advice on my look and I always feel super pretty when I leave. I have decided that this will be my new go-to Ulta store if I ever need to replenish my cache of NYX Cosmetics products. Since this store is located in Long Beach, it's already a bit of a drive but it's worth it just for the amount of inventory they carry. The place is organized and contrary to some of the other Ulta locations I've visited in Orange County, service was friendly but not overbearing. Someone actually GREETED me. Every brand was neatly stacked and clean, and this includes the NYX section--a super pleasant surprise. I'm hoping my next visit will be just as positive. read more

DO NOT GO TO THE SALON!!! So I called them and asked for a appt. I wanted my hair dyed and roots bleached and dyed. Girl said it was fine, said 110 total. Menu price is 43$ for the blue hair dye,and I didn't see a root touch up on the menu but she said 55$ so 110$ in total. I said perfect. The day of my appt she calls to confirm and names out what I wanted. So I Drive all the way out there for her to say there is no more blue dye and then her manager comes up and says they can do it in 3 days and he says my total would be 190$ I was so angry they made me drive all the way there for nothing and then pretty much doubles the price. And when I told him that's not what she told me and the menu says differently he said " we'll I have to charge you more to get you the results you want" I got so angry I got up and left. OMG, NO, NO, NO, Please, Please save yourself some grief. I went in to get a simple polisH service. They don't do manicures. Appointment at noon. I didn't get out of there until 4pm. They couldn't get my old polish off. They had no acetone, only the remover to take off their OPI gel polish. After having the nail polish removers replaced twice. They never made them tight or used enough remover. So, as I was soaking? I had a hair cut. It ended up 1" longer on one side sticking out on the right side of my head. I said, OK, let me get a mini facial while you're still trying to get my polish removed. I was Quite patient. I said, I don't have a lot of time. I'm supposed to be bringing my painters some lunch. The facialist was at lunch. I said OK, let me try some make up. The back to the manicure. The polish was off and a girl who I'm sure had never painted a nail, except maybe at a sleep over polished my nails and baked them under the light. I said what about all this polish on my skin? She couldn't get it off because it was baked on. I was so stressed, I was also leaving the country the next day. She went to lunch and #2 manicurist tried. She also had no experience. Next the male salon manager did my nails. They came out fine then. The experience took 4 hours. I asked to speak to the manager Katherine. She said she didn't know what she could do and she was sorry. She said she would call district and call me on Monday. Well, 2 1/2 weeks later I called. She said she had talked to district and that they said to offer me a $25 gift certificate. EXCUSE ME! That was like a slap in the face. Or, a FU. I normally bill out at $100 per hour. Also, when I got home to the painters to bring them lunch 3 hours late. They had painted my place the wrong color and I'm stuck with that. Yes, I have photos, if anyone is interested. Now, that cost me $600. I think about ULTA nearly everyday, not in a good way. They hire a lot of unexperienced people that shoudn't be out on the floor yet. Customer service sucks. OK, so couple of weeks ago i went to get new makeup. I have never been here, so i was soooo excited to have the ULta Beauty Salon experience since i have heard a lot about it, but my first experience was AWFUL! I wanted to take a look around and see other makeup products that were not from a drug store, so this girl (that works there) she asked me if i needed help and i just asked for a cream that will moisture my face more, so she makes a girl from the back to bring me two types of cream and have them tested in my hand to see what i like the most. I believe they ALL work by comission bc i felt pressured by both of them when they asked me which one i liked and she just told me it was $60 (for the smallest tube ever) and she just told me she will put it there so i can pay for it, WITHOUT even asking me if that was the price that i wanted to spend or something. When i told her that that price was too much for me at the moment bc my main purpose was to get makeup, she just told me that if my husband wanted me to look pretty and young he should pay fot it. (of course she laughed about it, maybe she was joking - but again, made me feel uncomfortable and pressured). Meanwhile this was happening the first girl was suddenly doing my make up and she put a bunch of foundation and bb creams that i didnt liked and when i told her what i wanted she didnt listen. Then again i told her i like brown bronzers, she tried on my a pink one. I felt so pressue to buy everything she tried on me (and i know, you might think why did i let her put all those products on me?) but i didnt want to be rude, and since i have heard good things about this place i thought i might try something different and finally find a product that i would fall in love with. DIDNT HAPPEN, i felt like she was following me everywhere. When she asked me if i was gonna get the products i told her that i was gonna look around. SO, i go to the part where they have the drug store cosmetics, I hear that they have 40% off NYX products, and anyways i wanted to try them.. I guessed that another girl that worked there told the girl that "helped" me first, that i was on the other side of the store, so she comes exactly where i was and starts "organizing" the makeup and she tells me in a rude tone "oh have you tried NYX before?" and i said No but i've herad good things about it.. and she just give me a look and said "well mmm idk i just dont put just anything on my face, i mean it has to be good" and then another staff lady comes by and they start talking shit about customers infront of me.. saying "oh i hate it when people just try on eye liners and dont buy them, people are just disgusting" - "omg i was helping this woman for hours and she didnt buy ANYTHING". Seriously? just BAD, BAD, BAD experience!!!!! products were good, i got 5 stuff for $25 bc of the discount, but i dont think i will be back bc just the customers service SUCKS! i mean FiNE is disgusting for customers to try on eyeliners and then not getting them, but talk to the manager about it, but dont talk shit about the customers infront of other customers. This is a well stocked store. Good location on pch . Lots of free parking. I liked the customer service too. The women working here are very attentive and helpful . This particular location did not seem quite as big as some others I have been in, which I liked . They have just about everything imaginable. One could become a beauty hoarder here . Tons of hair products and appliances. Perfumed , creams lotions scrubs and rubs. A different treatment for every part of the body many times over. This is a review is for the brow bar. Seriously worse brow experience for the worst price. The girl filled in my brows like CRAZY dark (like chola dark) before the wax and they werent even even looking. I told her that it didn't looked like they matched and she had to much pride to fix them and then started disagreeing with me. After i had left the store and checked in my car makeup mirror, there was still remainder wax on the lower parts of my eyelid!!!! Are you kidding me? I got my eyebrows waxed at the benefit brow bar 2 days ago. I have a difficult time finding a person that I can trust with my brows, so I thought that I'd try Ulta because they had to know what they are doing right? Wrong. WRONG. SO VERY VERY WRONG. The first thing I said was, "I want to keep the length. Do not change that." Not only did he shorten my brows by half, he completely mangled one of my brows. He used filler after he waxed them, so I couldn't see what he had done until I got home. He has completely destroyed any trust that I have in Ulta's services. If I could give zero stars, I would. This will be my new go to brow salon. I've been here a few times now and simply love the way my eyebrows are looking. The salon is a bit more expensive than a threading or waxing studio but I always leave feeling good about my brows. read more

Horrible experience with the staff at this location today. After asking where something was located today I was told by an employee that "If you don't see it, we don't have it" I will go back to shopping at the Bella Terra location where the girls are nice and happy to help instead of making you feel bad for needing assistance. Every time I come here they greet me, but they never asked me if I needed help. When I need them, they are never around. I had to search the store just to find someone to help me. If anything, they can't even help me. Seriously, don't put customer service on your resume if you don't have customer service, give that job to someone who loves makeup and has good customer service. I love makeup, and would like to get help and advise about makeup, but if you can't help don't work at ULTA!! I really like the ULTA at lakewood mall. They are sooooo helpful. read more
