*This is the Benefit Brow Bar in the Macy's at Water Tower Place* So I'm at the Taste Bar (cafe on the ground floor at the back of the Water Tower Place) buying a lemon cookie the size of my head when I hear this chick say, "Hey Girl, check out those brows!" I'm mortified (mostly b/c of the size of the cookie I just bought) - but then I turn to see Maggie, my new eyebrow lady from the Benefit Brow Bar. You can tell from the word go that she could care less if I were purple and eating pine cones. She's too chill to care. She asked me about my friend's birthday dinner party and if I like my brows. I've met this chick ONCE, for five minutes over 2 days before. After I picked my (hairless) chin off the floor I nearly high-fived her for her memory, and realized I owe her a review: Two days earlier I'd marched up to the brow bar to get practically my whole face waxed. I told her to thin out my brows and give me an arch. She said no - she'd never thin me out. Maggie 1: Emily 0. I took it on the chin, literally. Everything looked great after (no strays!) and I wasn't red or itchy after (I'm usually red and itchy). Will go back. Thanks, Maggie! GO SEE CATHY! I was visiting a friend in Chicago (who swears by this place) and we went to get mine done. Cathy was incredible - very patient and explained everything. I never had my eyebrows done before but she went over all the steps and gave my eyebrows some much needed TLC. She trimmed and shaped them and understood I wasn't interested in very thin brows. I wish I lived closer so I could just see her! I am nervous for anyone else to go near my face! Highly recommend making an appointment - they are very busy but WORTH IT! read more

I went to Alesia & she took my beautiful full brows that only needed some cleaning up & completely changed the shape & everything! Was not satisfies at all. I wish I could give zero stars. Please be aware of ruining your brows here. Not good at taking directions. read more

Went to get my eye brows waxed at 2. The lady said that they don't take appointments, and there was 2 people waiting in front of me. The lady suggested that I come back in an hour when the waxing lady was free to do my waxing, and she took my name down. I went back at 3 like I was told and the lady was booked with appointments till 6. I explained that I was there an hour earlier talking with the same lady and at the point she told me to make an appointment. I feel like she didn't make me an appointment the first time I was there because she didn't want to do her job. I have been here for walk ins before, never very satisfied with their staff but continued to go because of convinience. After this i will not go back and I hope for anyone trying to make an appointment they don't dick you around like they did me. read more

Such amazing service from Jerri! I walked into Macy's just to look around and spotted the Benefit Brow Bar. I knew I needed a fix up, and I saw that they offered waxing for $20 or tweeting for $25. Now I typically do threading but I figured hey, why not go for the wax? I saw Jerri finishing up a customer and she looked amazing, so I was pleased when I was told that I would be getting her. Jerri was very nice and informative, showed me my arch and the beginnings and ends of my brows, and explained that she was going to trim and shape my brows. She did an awesome job! They have an excellent staff here at Benefit, very kind and attentive. Also, the wax was really gentle, which I liked. I'm very fair and my skin is pretty sensitive (i.e. red hot after waxing for hours on end) but this wax session only left me red for 30 minutes! My brows look fabulous and I think she changed me from threading to waxing. If you get a chance to go here, definitely ask for Jerri. read more

Go to MAGGIE, I almost don't want to suggest that because she might get too busy to fit me in. But she is INCREDIBLE, I've always had super thick brows and when I died my hair i wanted a new look, she suggested the "bitch brow"- I will never go back to the old look. The only woman to give me a brow wax that didn't make my eyes water! I am so careful about my face and the only difficult thing about maggie, is waiting the full 4 weeks between waxes. She scolds me when I pluck too soon and mess up my shape, she genuinely wants me to look awesome. I'm a maggie fan for life. #TeamMaggie!!!! read more

I attempted to get my brows done as a walk-in on a busy day. Understandably I was told they couldn't fit me in, and I asked if I could make an appointment for later in the afternoon. The woman at the counter asked what time. Trying to be flexible, I told her I'd be available all afternoon. "Pick a time!" she outright snapped. No, thanks. I'll go somewhere where with some common curtesy. I understand getting stressed, but don't expect me to continue giving my business when I'm treated rudely. read more

I didn't have time to go to my usual brow person at the Benefit Brow Bar inside of Ulta in Lincoln Park, but I work near WaterTower, and I saw good reviews here, so I took a chance getting my brows waxed by someone new. Everyone says to ask for Maggie, but she wasn't working that day, so I got someone else. I really wish I'd thought to write down her name, but she gave me the worst brow wax of my life (All I know is she is an older black lady). She actually forcefully grabbed my cheeks for leverage each time she ripped off a wax strip. She didn't shape them as I requested. And she left many, many stray hairs. It was so poorly done, I tried to walk her through how to fix it, but in fear that I'd leave with no brows, I gave up, paid, and left. The other staff were all nice and friendly, but I fear their waxers are inconsistent. I am usually willing to pay $20 for an eyebrow wax because I leave the Benefit counter feeling like new woman; this experience was definitely not that. read more
