I love this location. I've been here multiple times, and have never disappointed, but I do have to point out that this last time I went, I realize that the person who did my eyebrows was a little rough. Which I get it maybe some are more than others, this was my first time with this person, I didn't have nothing because I thought maybe it just the regular pain of the wax and the tweezers but then I realized 2 days after that it wasn't that case. I have scabs on my eyebrows from the tweezers. Again I just think this person has to try to be a bit more gentle, because now I have these scabs and in the moment again it was hurting but I thought it was part of the waxing tingling sensation. read more

I have been a loyal Benefit brow bar customer for decades. I had an appointment at the Armitage Brow Bar and was a few minutes late. I stood waiting while Carol finished with a customer. There were no other employees in the store to help me. I approached the counter when she was done with the customer. One brow techs walked in the front door 10 minutes late from lunch. Carol yelled at me that I was late, and that they could only do a partial service. I asked why they could not accommodate me, and that in the future I could take my business elsewhere. She then screamed at me that they would no longer be providing service and told me to leave. She refused to give me her managers number. I have never received such poor treatment at any Benefit Brow Bar, not to mention at any service provider in my life. Carol is abusive and scary. Benefit Brow Bar used to be a relaxing spa like experience. Now Carol is running one of the scariest places I have ever experienced. There are so many pleasant spas in the area that do brows. I've been going to the location on Damen for brow threading and tint and was so bummed to find out that it recently closed. I was nervous to visit a new location / new person for my brows, but Lulu made me feel so comfortable. I expressed that I had experienced some hair loss due to an eczema flare up on one of my brows, and she talked me through a plan to get them in good shape again. I come here allll the time for a lash tint and brow wax! I never have any preference on who I get, because I've never had a bad experience in the ~5 years I've been going here! I get a dark brown on my lashes (I'm a blonde), and before the brow wax, I appreciate that they always hold up a mirror and show me which parts they are waxing, and confirm that it looks good before they put the hot wax on. I've also gotten a bikini wax here.. you really can't go wrong with any services provided! I'll continue going to Benefit for their convenient location, and their consistency of good work! read more

I decided I wanted to splurge on my eyebrows and go to Benefit for a wax and tint. I booked my appointment with Lulu and was very excited to splurge as I previous been going a local place. While the brow mapping was educational and the tint was fine, LuLu extremely overplucked where the brow begins. When I questioned her on this, she rudely told me it was how my eyebrows were; however, I have never seen them to be this sparse in my life. I now have to fill in the section until they are able to grow out. While leaving satisfied, it wasn't until I got home that I realized one eyebrow was severely thinner than the other that they look so lopsided. My friend recently introduced me to Benefit's services and, I swear, I am now hooked! I used to do my eyebrows at random salons with $10 for threading signs. Well, you get what you pay for in those salons and most of the time it hit or miss. With Benefit tho, it is consistently good. Yes, you will pay triple the price for the same service, but you can rely on tech's knowledge and confidence of a service well done. I walked in to this particular location during the week and there were only one person in front of me. My appointment was promptly made, and very kind gentleman walked me through all current promotions to kill some time before the service. After about 10-15 minutes I was introduced to Angie, a tech who did eyebrow threading on me and she was phenomenal! Very enthusiastic, professional and caring. They seriously know their stuff here. The brow and lash treatments are done while sitting at small stations on the side of the store. At first, I thought this might be awkward, but it wasn't. It was full of women in the same situation as me. The staffer I had for my lash/brow appt wasn't exactly friendly. But she was efficient and did a great job. My lashes and brows are seriously on point! After that was done, you are taken to a makeup counter for complimentary coverup. No having to leave with red blotchy eyes! I started asking about various products and was basically given a complimentary makeover. I was seriously impressed by the products. And I was not pressured to purchase anything - which I absolute loved and appreciated. And that staffer I had for this part was truly lovely! I already plan to return to purchase products. To start, there was no brow mapping. Instead, before starting my service, LuLu asked where I'd gone previously. I answered some local place (no name) and she commented that other establishments sometimes threaded brows too thin, maybe as a "cultural" thing. I thought this was a strange comment but at least we were on the same page that I wanted to keep mine full. After threading the top, she asked about the bottom and I confirmed I just wanted to match the left one to the right's existing shape. She threaded the bottom & went back in to do some tweezing (which is typical). She said she was being a perfectionist & I thought it was taking extra time because it had been so long since I'd had them done, I must have a lot of strays. I don't know what possessed her to completely pluck out the bottom arch of my brows. I look bald. They couldn't possibly be any thinner. The current shape is nowhere near what I asked for and completely destroyed my natural brow line. When she showed me the final product, I was so shocked and upset that all I could say was, "They'll take some getting used to." I've threaded my eyebrows for over a decade and never had a threading service like this. Would've been better off going to my cheapie place. Hoping the severe over plucking didn't cause permanent damage but it will take at least a year to grow back. My eyebrows are completely butchered. read more

Eyebrow love. Since moving to Chicago I've had a hard time finding a good eyebrow place. The last time I got my brows done before this past weekend was for New Year's Eve! A long time, I know. But long story short, I tried a place by my home and the woman ruined my eyebrows. This past weekend I was at Warby Parker and saw this place. I was drawn in by store front and the amount of people inside! I looked on yelp for their reviews and walked in. Upon walking in women were getting their make up done, eyelashes tinted, and getting their eyebrows done. Pros: - they took me as a walk in, so surprised since it was a Saturday! - I explained to Kayla (the awesome aesthetician who did my wax/tinting) that I was nervous because of my previous brow waxing and she fully accommodated me and made me feel comfortable. Tips: - when you walk in there is a binder at the register that you can sign in for service. - if you haven't had your eyebrows tinted before you have to sign a waiver. Because I have had my hair colored before, I didn't have to get skin tested for allergies - the tinting makes your eyebrows look full, it darkens the existing hair. At first it will seem really dark because the skin under the hairs has tint on it and will go away after washing your face - definitely have them show you the different types of make up to up keep the brows. I was recommended Gimme Brow and I love it! - their prices are fair! For tinting and waxing it was $33 - check it out! read more

Brow service is great here but I am getting fed up with the constant price increases on it. I have every receipt from when I started getting my brows done here in 2019 and the brow wax has gone up $8 since 2019! From April till June it jumped $5. That's actually insane plus tipping on top of that just getting brows is getting insanely expensive and I doubt any of that price increase is actually going back to the workers. read more

My friend won a beauty party where each of us received either a complementary brow wax, brow tint or lash tint followed by some makeup. We were able to enjoy the services and each other's company while sipping on the champagne and wine they provided. The place was clean, well lit and girly fun with all the light pink and black decor. Their products were nicely displayed in cabinets along one wall, so you could easily browse the products while waiting for your service. They even had cute photo booth props, perfect for all the selfies. All of the technicians were very polite and fun. They were very personable and professional with their product knowledge and makeup application tips. We all left tipsy on the beverages, happy with our service and anxious to try out the products we bought. With our purchases, we were entered into a drawing for a complementary beauty party. This benefit beauty shop is in a great location among the other shops and salons. It's also conveniently located right by the Brown Line - Armitage station. (I am from out of state, and I had no trouble finding this place from The West Loop area). Upon arriving, I was immediately greeted and directed to the cashier to check in. There were a decent amount of people when I had gone at noon, but the places filled up quickly as I was finishing. I definitely recommend getting an appointment if you want to be seen and serviced, other wise you might be waiting in between appointments and it could get busy in there. The shop itself is pink, bright, and very clean! I was expecting more comfortable lounge chairs for the beauty brow bar, because some people who get tinting have to wait some time for the colors to set in their eyebrows or lashes. These were more swivel stools against the wall. Nonetheless, I still felt comfortable. This was my first wax & tint, so Tracy explained every step for me. She was pretty gentle and took her time to make sure my eyebrows were even and looked good. I've never gotten a wax before, so I assume that's why a part of my skin is a little sensitive and bubbly now. I'm hoping this goes away in a couple of hours! She also got a little tinting on the skin that she couldn't take off, she said it would go off in the shower. (Let's hope for that too!) After my tint and wax, I was directed to another young woman to discuss ways I could highlight my brows. She ended up putting makeup and blush on me, we didn't discuss the brows as much as I though we would. I felt a little obliged to buy something bc she was voluntarily testing out so many products on my face. She never pushed for a sale or asked if I wanted anything but I did buy something for my eyebrows. If I'm going to get them waxed and tinted, I might as well maintain their look! I thought I would try the benefit bar in my neighborhood and based on my experience will likely not return. My aesthetician was running 15 mins behind schedule and was working on two clients at once. Based on that I received very poor service and attention resulting in two burn marks on the areas I got waxed (upper eyebrow and above my lip) as you can see in my photos. I came in last night looking for a particular brow technician. Her name skipped me as I haven't been in the location for roughly 2 years. I used to come here almost every week when I did, so even if I'm not familiar with the woman who did my brows, I'm definitely well acquainted with the man that always helped me out, per my previous review, and referred me to the brow tech. The stark blond lady with the too dark brows (Tracy?) harks that Javi hasn't worked there for '4-5 years'. Was she a manager? She needs to get demoted, her people skills are atrocious; she makes me not want to come to this location, even though I live across the street. Another associate called her out and said 'it hasn't been that long', which I politely kept my mouth shut, as this rude lady responded with 'well whatever I don't know' - clearly not caring about accuracy and exaggerated at the expense of making her customers seem crazy. On the upside, I was a walk in, and they were able to squeeze me in at ~7:30pm. Erin (sp) was nice, although when I woke up today I see the huge difference between my brows arch - see photo attached. I'll be calling in after work to get it fixed. Everyone else was nice, just that long-haired blond lady rubbed me the wrong way. Regardless of my error in misnaming a brow tech, I did all with respect and kind verbiage. The person in front of me who had a $40+ total tipped her person $5; my service was only $21, and I tipped $5. The last time I got my brows done here, with the yet-to-be-determined tech, I tipped $10 because it was PERFECT. Get my drift? 3 stars for last minute booking and price. Booking over the phone was easy. I was greeted by a pleasant girl around my age. That's the last time I spoke with someone for another 12 minutes. My brow girl was 12 minutes late. No one acknowledged me or informed me of the tardiness while I was waiting. Eventually, my service provider came over and asked if I was waiting. Uhm, yeah? No offense, Benefit, but I don't come into your boutiques just to sit down and kill time. Why is my service provider asking me if I'm waiting? Shouldn't someone have already informed her? Especially since she was running behind? Also, a simple, "Your brow girl is running just a few minutes behind!" Would have been appreciated. I work in the beauty, sales, and customer service industry. I know how it is. Things happen. However, that should be communicated to your paying customer so we can be put at ease and know someone will be with us shortly. My brow girl was quick which I thought would be good. I was in and out in about 15 minutes. She showed me my brows. I glanced and said they were good. I had to rush out due to an already expired parking meter. In better light, when I actually had the comfortability and patience to observe, I noticed my left brow was much darker than the right. Overall, I think this boutique could have done better with providing me a great experience. I was blown away by the service I received from Mal at Benefit on Armitage! She truly listened to me! She was absolutely NOT pushy and offered me products that were a genuine match for my needs and style! She even found an eyeliner I could wear which was a first in my life! I've been at hundreds of cosmetic counters, no lie, hundreds, wherein they insist they can make me look great in eyeliner and they always make me look like a squirrel. She suggested I try brown instead of black and then applied it in such a way that my eyes sparkled. I was speechless! Also, even though the marketing is pitching to a younger audience and I'm certainly not younger, I feel totally welcome and comfortable in the store. My dog actually turned me on to the wonderful world of Benefit! I first went in about 4 years ago while walking my pooch because I knew that not only were their products and services outstanding, but the Armitage location was dog-friendly. Since then, we cannot walk by the store without my dog doing the "four-paw stop" until we go in and get a treat. Whether I buy something or not, the employees are always super welcoming and, if they're not with a client, will chat and give our pooch some love. I highly recommend this location. AMAZING eyebrow wax by Meghan today! First off, I made the appointment today & I was easily squeezed in. I arrived early and Meghan started on me as soon as I got there. She was efficient & gentle. I had been growing my eyebrows out for over a YEAR after over waxing them throughout high school, so I was clear that I still wanted to keep them thick but just have them shaped up, and she definitely followed through. Another woman then filled them in and touched up my makeup which was awesome. This is an update on the customer service I received after my allergic reaction to the brow tinting. I spoke to the manager Maurice about the situation and was satisfied with his resolution, I did suggest that all clients have a required 24 hr skin test prior to tinting because you don't want to go through a week of eye swelling like I did if you do get a reaction. read more

I didn't walk in with the expectation of having a service performed, but after I sat down with (I believe) Moe, they showed me some products, and even educated me on how to apply the products too. I shared that I rarely get my eyebrows done, and they said they'd make sure I had a positive experience here, if I felt comfortable giving it a shot. LuLu was the sweetest person. They made me feel welcomed, beautiful, and like I had made a new friend. They walked me through everything they were doing, and gave me confidence throughout my threading experience. They gave me information and suggestions on what I can do to improve my brow health. What's more, my brows look awesome!
