So I have been coming to this Brow Bar for almost a year. I get my eyebrows done regularly by Janeth and Sam. Both are so nice and do a great job. This review is not based on their performance at all. This review is based on the crappy customer service I received today. Neither Janeth or Sam were here. As a regular customer, I am very aware of the birthday promotion offered. My teenage daughter who has also come in several times now has a birthday this Wednesday. I made an appointment for her to have her brows done so I could take advantage of the promotion. The staff was aware as I mentioned it over the phone. To my surprise, my daughter wasn't eligible because she had no form of identification. School hasn't started so she doesn't have a school id, she doesn't work and doesn't drive. No passport. But the manager was happy to advise me if I brought in her birth certificate they would honor the promotion. Really benefit. Do you think I'm trying to get out of paying the $21.00 I regularly pay? I understand a form needs to be filled out and submitted to some corporate office, however, a copy isn't made. It's just someone at the counter who fills it out. I am huge on customer service, and today I was not provided with the best. No one ever told me she needed ID when I made the appointment and disclosed it was her birthday brow. I have paid hundreds of dollars in products, brows, and promotions at this benefit bar and quit frankly I am so upset. It's a free birthday eyebrow wax, and I, a regular customer wasn't able to take advantage because my teenage daughter didn't have an ID. So if you plan on stopping by for the bday brow make sure you bring a passport, birth certificate, social security card or whatever you normally carry on your person just in case someone doesn't believe you. Usually, I would go to Benefit in the one in south coast plaza to get my brows done, but however my lady has had her maternity leave so I couldn't go to her as much any more. So I went to brea (closer to home), and was skeptical about this new lady Yuriana. Very nice, but she completely ruined the shape of my eyebrows. She made one of them uneven and just not proportional at all. Other wise, service was alright and adequate. read more

They take the time to map out your brows and make sure you like it before they do any waxing and take extra care and attention to detail to make sure you love your brows when they're done. Wow! Holy Smokes! What a find! So before I get into this review, let me say that I am used to driving to Beverly Hills to get my brows done by Anastasia. No, I don't mean an assistant, or someone who works at that salon. I mean the Anastasia Soare herself. When it's impossible for me to get down there, I go to a hoity toity place in Huntington Beach. Frustrated at the limited hours of the HB salon, I decided to try this place and requested Samantha due to her excellent reviews. Well, she did not disappoint. She gave me EXACTLY what I wanted, and I have NEVER received so many compliments on my eyebrows. I will never go anywhere else again. Samantha is going on maternity leave. I have gone to my fair share of Benefit Brow Bars over the past few years, and this location is my absolute favorite. How luck am I that it's also the nearest one to where I live?! For those of you who have never tried getting your brows done at a Benefit Brow Bar, I'll leave you with the following reasons why you should: they use a gentle wax, they are experts at having brows maintain their fullness while shaping to your liking, they tweeze and trim to perfection, they massage an oil into your brow area, and they apply makeup on you if you'd like. Basically, they take particularly good care of you! I have very droopy, "sad", sparsely distributed eyebrows, and I admit they are difficult to work with. However, Benefit in Brea does amazing work with my unruly brows. Anyhow, let's get to the juicy stuff--the brow gurus! Let's start with the bad news since I have very little of that to share. I had a bad experience not once, but TWICE with a girl named Kristy. I will spare you the details, but if you are the type of customer who likes to feel at home and very comfortable with your brow lady, including open communication about your preferences, Kristy is NOT your girl. I gave her a second try, thinking maybe she had a bad day the first time, but I was wrong. Moving on to the good news! Samantha (who had also done my brows back when she worked at the Rancho Cucamonga location) is who you definitely want to see. She is an absolute sweetheart and so skilled at shaping eyebrows. I believe she is now the manager in Brea, which doesn't come as a surprise! If she isn't available, I also highly recommend Jose who will never disappoint. I believe he is also known for his brow-tinting expertise. And though I could never wash my face carefully enough to maintain a brow tint long-term, I was well-pleased with my tint when he did them. A recent gem-of-a-brow-lady I discovered was this talented Vietnamese esthetician whose name slips me at the moment (I'm so sorry!). I was a little hesitant since I had that bad experience with Kristy, but Sam was around and observing, so I went for it. Boy, was I glad! That girl can shape some brows, man! OK, enough reading. At first, the only reason I made the appointment was because MAC was booked. However, after my experience here, I would go back to Benefit & the Brow Bar for every special occasion. The girls in the MAC store in the Brea Mall are RUDE. The girls at Benefit were VERY polite, professional, and did a wonderful job on my brows and makeup. read more

FYI: brows are done at the makeup counter. Kristy did my brows. So-so, not horrible results, But not a smooth arch on top. i have had my brows done with better results. My big complaint: specifically asked NOT to use oil to remove wax and she did anyways!!!! Of course I broke out from the oil. She put it on and I reminded her that I did not want it, and all she said was I want to get the wax off....and then let the oil sit on my skin until she was done!!!! She could of at least use the cooling gel right away, NOT!!!!! She did use cooling gel until she was done, even when I told her my skin was hot from the oil. Nor did she use a product to remove the oil from my skin! She was nice enough to see if I was happy with the shape, but made excuse, and dismissed what I said and said they were fine. I of course too nice, tipped $5 on $20 cost. If I go back, maybe someone else. It was convenient being in the mall. Wax seemed gentle enough. Find another product that is oil free to remove wax. I am sure I not the only one who has a reaction. read more

This is my favorite spot to get my brows done. Natalie is just AMAZING, she's been doing my brows for years now. Shes extremely talented and definitely loves her job. So dedicated and artistic. Love it. I love getting my brows done here and everyone is really nice. It's the very first thing when you walk into Macy's from the outside (if you're walking in towards the side of the mall sharing California PIzza Kitchen). If you're going though, either make an appointment or be prepared to wait around for an hour. On the weekdays, they only have one girl working the bar and two on the weekends. They also shut it down around 6:30pm-7 so keep that in mind if you're wandering in at night. Make sure to bring cash to tip! read more

Janeth is the girl to go to! She listens to my wants as far as how I want my brows to look and advises me on where to keep growing, where to tweeze, etc. She's really precise and thorough. She also has amazing eyebrows so how could I not trust her? It's definitely more expensive than threading ($23 compared to $8) but I like precision of tweezing and learning how to fill in my brows to make them look fuller and thicker. Also, compared to threading she will fill in my brows afterwards; my brows and me are ready to conquer whatever the day has to offer! She's also extremely friendly and relatable so the appointment time always feels like I'm visiting with a friend which is really awesome. Today was my first time stopping by Benefit's beauty bar to get my eyebrows done and I am so pleased. I've never really had my eyebrows done before and so I was really nervous and unsure of what to expect; however, Michelle was so kind and informative! She asked me right up front what I was looking for and outlined how it would look before getting started. She did an amazing job, and made me feel beautiful and confident without being fake excessively flattering. I usually only take time to write glowing reviews for merchants who have earned it. In this case I am writing an extremely negative review because I don't want what happened to me to happen to anyone else. I went to the Benefit Brow Bar on 12/31/15. The person who did my brows (I think her name might have been Ella) used wax to remove the hair. She asked me if I used a prescription strength Retin A on my face and I told her that I did not. I related that I did use a 1% Retinol product that is purchased over the counter. I also told her that I had sensitive skin as evidenced by the fact that I can't even use the Retinol product on my neck without getting contact dermatitis. After completing the service, I was told that the redness would go away in a few hours. When I got home several hours later, I noticed that the entire area under and over my brows was extremely irritated. Upon closer inspection I realized that my skin had been torn off where they placed the wax! As of this writing on 1/13/2016, I can say that it is about 95% healed. I have been through peeling and flaking in the process and even now-2 weeks later-my lids are still somewhat dry and cracked. In one spot above the brow where they also used wax, a deep line "appeared". I have been using a prescription cream on my lids and hyaluronic acid on the line. Again, this whole mess is still not 100% back to normal. This was s horrible experience! There are other methods other than hot wax that can to used to groom brows on someone with sensitive skin and they should have used one of those alternatives on me. read more

Discovered the best brow barista...EVERRR based on a referral from my daughter. Let me just say, Samantha is truly GENIUS!!! First time she did my brows I was amazed. After going to her a few times, my brows never looked better! Sam cleaned them up, shaped them and introduced me to "brow tinting"...which if you're older (like me) and have sparse brows...it's magic...and lasts for up to 3-4 weeks as long as you take proper care not to rub too vigorously. Brea is a bit far for me to go, but Sam is definitely worth it. I am thinking about trying a Benefit Bar closer to home and will see how that goes. BUT...if you want someone really good...GO SEE SAMANTHA!!! read more
