Good Indian eats here. We had their noodles which were cooked perfectly with a soft texture. Palak paneer which was delicious and not too salty. Mithai was sweet and colorful. Service was decent. Interior is plain and simple.

Finally had a chance to swing by Hicksville! Fresh mithai and nice classic chai. Loved our falooda! It is made to order and took some time.

Grabbed an assortment of sweets and all were typical and well flavored. Definitely made fresh and soft! Would recommend grabbing a sweet treat if in the area!

This is my go-to place for veg food and for when I'm visiting relatives to come and grab a box of sweets to take for them. :) Every time I crave veg food, this is where I get my fix. My favorites are: Chana Batura, Pav Bhaji, Samosa and Dahi Bhalla Chaat! As for sweets, my favorite is the pink one (not sure what it's called, I just point at it lol) and all the other ras-bhare ones, i.e. the ones soaked in sugar syrup. They're almost always packed but that doesn't affect their service. Love coming here.

I came to this spot because it was highly recommended by various friends of mine for "Sweets" so I went and tried the Sweets and guess what ??? It was Actually GOOD :) However I made the mistake of ordering other hot items and Paan lol which If I had not done so I would have given an Easy 4 to 4.5 Rating but the Paan was OLD and no good. The Samosa was Undercooked - not a good experience. I would go again and give them another try until than I will stand with my 3 Star Rating.

The stellar samosas - triangular savory pastries filled with love plus potatoes and peas!!

Bengali Sweet Shop is serving authentic and delicious Indian food and sweets smack in the middle of Nassau County in the good old 11801. The staff is solid and on top of everything. The prices for this caliber of food and service are great. The atmosphere is chill. There is ample seating per Covid distancing. The restaurant is immaculate. They really pay attention to detail when packing and ask for eg how a big order or pieces should be split item wise. Beautiful!! Hicksville( 11801) and the adjoining Plainview, Jericho, Syosset and the Brookvilles have seen a large influx of folks of Indian descent in the last two decades. It is just fantastic that there are a few restaurants and establishments that cater to these folks with love, care and the " real deal" - as in tasty and abundant food that takes one back to grandma's amazing fare. The name is Bengali but their menu is extensive and spans all delicacies from North, West and East India. The sweets and desserts are prepared fresh and I love that they have a sign that states to consume within 24 hours - fresh and lovely!! I had my mother's birthday get together in August catered by Bengali Sweet Shop and the 28 guests loved everything - the fantastic chick pea dish and soft, fluffy fried bread accompanying it( Chole Bhature), the lovely fried pastries filled with the potatoes, onions and peas( Samosas), the Papdi Chaat - street food with flat crackers, onions, potatoes, chick peas, yogurt and sauces( chutneys), steamed cake made from gram flour( Dhokla). No left overs, no doggy bags - everyone had thirds and more! They have amazing, really amazing stuffed paranthas ( wheat flour tortillas with some very creative stuffings). The displays of sweets and snacks are so inviting. Just picked up lunch for Mom and made her day!!!!!!

I regret not stopping by here before! I drove passed so many times but never got the chance but today I finally made up my mind to check our Bengali Sweets and I was truly impressed by the quality of their food. Customer service was great as well, the two ladies at the counter are very friendly. The ambiance is just like back home! Your typical chaat house with huge selections of Mithaa (sweets). So I started off by ordering their paneer and vegetable Momos. Both packed some great flavors. The paneer momo is probably my favorite one because I love paneer, so them being put inside this deep fried goodness is exactly what I needed! The good thing is, they aren't too expensive nor greasy. This restaurant definitely is budget friendly and hygienic. The vegetable Momos were delightful. A mixture of all of your greens inside of a fried dumpling hahaha! Especially when they both paired very well with the sweet chilli sauce it came with! Now for the main course I ordered the Halwa Puri platter or should I say THALI! I love that word, it comes with 2 Puris and a generous amount of chana masala, halwa and achar. The puris were made from wheat which was a healthy option andddd the puri themselves were not oily. The Chana masala itself packed so much flavor, I thought that it had the same taste as Sambr, the potato soup that comes with a Dosa. Mouth watering and delicious. I did not try out the halwa because I'm not a fan ahahaha! But my family did. Everything was amazing, definitely will be back. 10/10 must try again and again!

Always a great paratha and chaat served with. Good place for giant "Parathas" - Aloo with onions, coriander, ginger, and green chilli is my favorite. Bengali has been the center of Indian snacks and foods for 20+ years. They have an amazing variety of delicious Indian foods. It's mouthwatering delicious. Geeta and Rajesh are amazing hosts and have put Hicksville Indian foods on the map.

5++++ stars! I absolutely love this place. I've passed it a few times and kept saying that that I should stop in so today was the day! Honestly, I had no idea what to order but I recognized the samosas and the bhel poori right away so asked for those and spoke to the kindest gentleman who steered me in the right direction for the lunch special (thali) which was all absolutely delicious. We also ordered pani poori and aloo tikki, both amazing. You order at the counter and sit and they bring it to you on trays, nothing fancy but honestly, I'd pick this place over fancy any day. When we were finished eating we ordered some sweets and again, I didn't know what to order and the gentleman picked out some good ones for us to bring home. They were hauntingly delicious! I really don't have a point of reference for these pastries but I can't imagine anything better. As I was being rung up by the sweetest woman who asked if my children liked the food (yes, they loved it) I decided that I would definitely be back, and many times! The woman showed me the menu and pointed out some things to try next time so between the delicious food, and the welcoming hospitality, this place absolutely melted my heart and made me happy! My advice to anyone who is reading this review is to stop in and don't be intimidated by the unfamiliar. Just smile snd eat...

Is this a buffet or order at the counter type restaurant?

Order at counter type. I think they have a buffet for lunch though. I've only been there for dinner and have never noticed buffet then.

My only complaint? My stomach has a limit…read more My family and I have been coming to Diwan for years, and this is hands down our go-to spot for Indian all-you-can-eat. I used to frequent the Indian buffets in Jackson Heights, and honestly, Diwan is just as good, if not better! One thing I really appreciate is that they have their own parking lot, the dining room is spacious, and as a parent, I was thrilled to see they have baby high chairs. Those little details make a big difference. We stopped by for their weekday AYCE special at just $15 per adult, which is an incredible value! My plate always ends up looking the same because I can't resist the chicken biryani, palak paneer, and that rich, creamy butter chicken. Oh, and they mostly use chicken thighs! So tender and moist! I keep telling myself I'll try something different... then I walk back with the exact same favorites. No regrets. We also ordered the mango lassi, and it was fantastic! Just a little tip: it comes with ice by default, so if you prefer it without ice, just let them know when ordering. The food quality has been consistently excellent every time we've visited, and the service has always been warm and attentive. Another thing I enjoy is how peaceful the dining room is. It's not loud or chaotic. Everyone seems completely focused on the important business of enjoying their food. A couple of helpful tips: the buffet is dine-in only, so you can't pack up buffet food to take home. If you're ordering takeout, you'll need to order from the regular menu instead. They also offer children's pricing for the buffet, so if you're unsure about the details, just give them a quick call. If you're craving great Indian food without emptying your wallet, Diwan continues to be one of my favorite AYCE spots. Highly recommended!

Fresh puri and plenty of sauces, fresh rice and a very nice spread of Indian favorites. I really enjoyed everything they had to offer and especially the vegetarian options such as dhal and paneer. Great service and the only caveat is that any naan is purchased separately as it's not included in the ayce price. You can also just order fresh plates of any combination off their à la carte menu. We opted for the lunch buffet and were very satisfied and both price point and quality were excellent. The restaurant itself is nice with great ambiance and plenty of seating. There's also plenty of beverage options. We've been back twice already and anticipate many more visits.

We had to park across the street and walk over to the restaurant. Having a dedicated parking area or establishing a better parking arrangement with the landlord would make the experience much more convenient for customers and could potentially encourage more people to visit. Unfortunately, the food was the biggest disappointment. The chicken in several of our dishes was noticeably overcooked, dry, and tough. The Butter Chicken, in particular, had very dry and overcooked chicken. The Drums of Heaven, which I remember being fresh, flavorful, and nicely glazed, were this time overly fried, dry, and lacking flavor. The cauliflower used to be crispy and well glazed, but on this visit it was mushy and unappetizing. We asked our server if they had a new chef, he said same chief for 15 years and the new owners are back. Well have new owners tasted the food? There's no way the Chef was back. Perhaps that was a lie. Overall, the food did not taste as fresh or well-prepared as I remembered. It also felt as though the restaurant has made several changes that have taken away from the overall dining experience. They previously offered a complimentary appetizer, whereas now everything is à la carte. Even the napkins felt unnecessarily limited--we were initially given only one and had to ask for additional napkins. The restaurant also used to have tablecloths with glass over the table, which gave the dining area a more polished, welcoming, and comfortable appearance. The bathroom was acceptable, but it could have been cleaner and better maintained. I'm sharing this feedback because I have visited this restaurant before and remember having a much better experience. The food, presentation, and overall atmosphere used to feel more inviting and higher quality. Unfortunately, this visit left me feeling that the overall quality has declined and that cost-cutting measures may be affecting the customer experience. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback constructively, because I would genuinely like to see the quality return to what it used to be. As things currently stand, however, I would reconsider returning.

I came here last week for an event, and got to enjoy basically a tasting menu of sorts…read more This menu took Indian flavors on a seriously fun ride. From rich and smoky to spicy, tangy, creamy, and refreshing. Banjara Tikka brought tender chicken thighs layered with yogurt, fried onion and garlic. Mauryaji Basket Chaat delivered chickpeas, potato, tamarind, mint, pomegranate and a creamy yogurt mousse. The Chicken Seekh Kebab was perfectly seasoned and savory with pickled laccha onion, while the Guntur Chilli Chicken Bao turned up the heat with Guntur red chili, sesame and refreshing beetroot shikanji shots. The vegetarian dishes absolutely held their own as well. Chilli Momo with carrot, sesame and seaweed, came out with a soft, delicate bite and a subtle chew, filled with a lightly spiced vegetable mix that leaned savory and aromatic rather than overpowering heat. The Paneer Makhni was rich, velvety, and deeply comforting. The paneer stayed soft and pillowy, soaking up a buttery tomato-cashew gravy that was slightly sweet, gently tangy, and finished with that unmistakable fenugreek aroma that tied everything together. The mains were just as unforgettable. Laal Maas came in bold and unapologetic. Tender goat slow-cooked until it practically melted off the bone, swimming in a deep, smoky gravy built on mathania chilies that brought slow heat. The Shrimp Malai Curry was the complete opposite in tone. Silky coconut milk wrapped around plump tiger shrimp, with Bengali whole spices adding a gentle sweetness and aromatic depth that made the dish feel light yet indulgent at the same time. And somehow dessert still had room to impress. Rose Kulfi was creamy, floral and sweet without being overwhelming. Drinks included everything from the floral, mezcal-and-rooza Gulabo to Mango Lassi. And as someone who historically doesn't like anything rose flavored, I enjoyed both the drink AND the dessert. Just as good as the food, was the service. It is definitely a spot that should not be missed.
