Absolutely delicious. My husband is not a mad fan of Indian food. I should have taken a picture of his face with the first bite - suprise, happiness, YUM! He can't wait to go back. And neither can I. We have been wanting to try Spice Gardens, especially since it has Kerala specialties. Elizabeth told us the chef is from Kochi! We began with the dragon chicken, Fish Polichathu (an off menu item she recommended with beautiful spices and served wrapped in a banana leaf), and the generously portioned samosa chat (my favorite samosa chat we have ordered to date with delicate, flaky pastry on the samosas!) For the entree, we tried two Kerala specials- the Alleppey Fish Curry and Nadan Chicken Curry. We were dining in the restaurant and Elizabeth was so attentive and sincere in ensuring our experience was pleasing so she had me taste each for the spice levels once they arrived at the table. We had children in our party so we decided the chicken curry might need to be less spicy and she took it back to the kitchen to add more coconut milk and brought yogurt to help. She initiated making sure that everyone was having a good experience. We also had chicken biryani and both poratta and garlic naan. So comforting and fresh! Everything is made to order. So it can be easily accommodated to any palate or allergy. Elizabeth even noticed one of my children was looking a little cold and offered to adjust the thermostat! She also noticed a couple younger children were favoring the breads over the curries so she recommended the butter chicken and then surprised us with the dish on the house! It was so sweet and creamy. A definite hit! We are looking forward to more experiences at a Spice Gardens! It is obvious they take this business seriously and have a high level of quality in everything they do. So many smiles- both from the staff and those dining with us! The food was delicious, was there 4 days earlier and returned with my wife today. love the food, very friendly staff.

There's parking, finally after being in New York for almost over 29 years, there's a restaurant with authentic Kerala cuisine. We actually live near the other stores like dilbar and kuttanad, but this restaurant actually has really tasty food and reasonable prices so far, their beef cutlet and biriyani are really tasty. They also cater for events. You can mention the spice level and the type of rice you want for the biriyani. My only suggestion would be for the raita in the biriyani to add onions. Also an egg inside the biriyani would make it exactly to like Kerala style. The take out service is pretty quick, can call ahead and pick up. The portions are decent as well. I hope this business expand n comes more towards queens like Bellrose area. read more

I was happy that Indian cuisine came into town; something different. The food is beyond delicious, luckily not too spicy for me who can't handle that.. both times we have gotten gobi and chicken 65 (I like the cauliflower one more- both sauces have great flavor). Samosas were fantastic.. wish it came with more than 2 or different goodies inside if that's an option. Dal Palak was our ultimate favorite with the naan omggg. We did not like the chicken masala at all since it was bland; sad because we only ordered this because once again they didn't have two other dishes we tried to order first. The lady who runs the front seems lovely but she approximates the order will take 30 mins both times... the first time I definitely had a long wait showing up when she told me to yet waiting a lot more... but the second time was even longer (over an hour). I tried to get compensated in some way or say forget the last dish I'll take everything else... the only "break" she gave me was taking off the samosas charge which was only $3... gee thanks. If she didn't want to take off the $17 dish that was taking the longest, at least maybe the naan something higher price would have been more fair. She kept making a different excuse each time why it was taking so long rather than admitting they messed up... they had a huge order before us, a staff member was supposed to come in then didn't, they are taking their time with the vegetables.... etc etc etc. I don't like the inconsiderateness for customers' time.. we would have ordered from somewhere else but instead we had to wait around starving while we could have been waiting at home doing other stuff or better yet done with our meal from elsewhere. The inside does not have much to offer either if dining in.. I definitely would prefer to just take-out (who knows how long service would be if sitting-in... yikes). So due to the service we won't be returning and I don't know how they will survive here whatsoever with this kind of service...its a shame because their food is definitely worth trying besides that. read more

We went to Spice Gardens Bar and Grill on Merrick Avenue in East Meadow tonight for dinner. The owner greeted us with a smile and took us to a table. We ordered the Spice Gardens Special Lamb Curry, Goat Biryani, Kerala Poratta, Garlic Naan, Dragon Chicken, Fish Polichathu, and 2 Tea Masalas. They threw in a Gulab Jamon for dessert for my birthday and sang. I have to say that my husband and I have eaten a lot of Indian food, but this was by far the best place that we have ever been to on the island. Everything was super fresh and plentiful. The service was very pleasant and accommodating. They made sure that they cooked the spice level to our liking and answered all of our questions and then some. We wish we took photographs before dinner, but just know that if you like Indian food and you're in the area, this place is a must! We highly recommend this restaurant! read more

Today my family had lunch at spice garden. The food was about amazing. Highly recommend the lamb fry, shrimp, beef cutlet. Fish curry was amazing . Indian style porata was amazing with the chicken curry. Yes we went alil crazy but the price and quality of food was worth it. The service was great, very attentive. OK so I have to admit this was the best butter chicken tikka masala I ever had. Food was made fresh and you can definitely taste it. Service was on point and menu was explained from top to bottom.
