Love coming here! Every time I feel like I have stepped into my uncles shop, the owner is so sweet and hospitable. Staff is welcoming and the store has ample seating. The sweets are fresh and delicious every time. Recently picked up the samosas and they were warm and crispy fresh! Loved the packaging it came in as well. Definitely recommend checking this restaurant out!

Solid hole-in-the-wall vegetarian Punjabi spot. I tried the chole bhature and amritsari kulche. The Kulcha was flavorful and well stuffed. The bhature was not as good as other places. It tasted like they added yeast to leaven it. Chole was good as was and not too rich. The pickle, onions, and the yogurt were all standard. Misthi (sweets) variety were good too!

The hospitality is great. The owner is so welcoming. Welcome drink is not just regular water, its lassi as Panjabi families host at home in a steel jug and unlimited supply accompanied by steel glasses and food served in stainless steel plates. Very homely environment. The food was great. Papdi Chaat was so delicious. Kulcha was well stuffed and crispy up to the mark not burnt. Perfectly buttered and well done. We ordered Kala chana which was super hit among the family, the gravy was so good and a very unique taste. Thali was equally good and portion size was perfect for 2 people. Sweets were excellent. This is a hidden gem in Hicksville among so many restaurants we just happen to be there. Wondering why we haven't discovered this place before. While paying bill the owner saw my daughter in scrubs and ask what position she is into medical profession and I mention she is a physician, he said we are so proud of our daughters and offered sweets without any charge to her. Very polite and humble man by the counter.

Authentic Punjabi food. The real deal! Old school! Just like Grandma's cooking and the great coincidence and beauty here is that the very sweet matriarch is indeed the amazing chef. Quality that stands out. A few competitors have actually not been so hot in the last 18 months. The prices for the quantity are fantastic. Had lentils here 2 months ago that were really good and seasoned and garnished just right. 4 weeks ago I got a pound of fried veggie fritters or pakoras with some hot tea. Perfection! Post heavy workout today got the Shahi Paneer or homemade cheese( soft) cubes in this rich creamy sauce with tomatoes, onions and cashew nuts. Wow!!! Check out the photo. The dishes are old school and real. Not been modified or commercialized or diluted. Love it!! You can taste it!!! Take my word and my roots and well traveled palate for it. Just pop in and see and experience this for yourself. This restaurant is adjacent to the Delco Plaza on Broadway about 200 yards south of Old Country Road on the east or northbound side. Covid compliant. Super clean. Great traffic and the kitchen is constantly preparing more food. Authentic!!

    A "Jaan Paratha" special ...

Always a great paratha served with whipped butter and salty lassi. My special Partha is the "Jaan Parathas" - Aloo with onions, coriander, ginger, and green chilli. You can make any Parthas a "Jaan Parathas" by adding in fresh coriander, ginger and green chillies. It's mouthwatering delicious.

My only complaint? My stomach has a limit…read more My family and I have been coming to Diwan for years, and this is hands down our go-to spot for Indian all-you-can-eat. I used to frequent the Indian buffets in Jackson Heights, and honestly, Diwan is just as good, if not better! One thing I really appreciate is that they have their own parking lot, the dining room is spacious, and as a parent, I was thrilled to see they have baby high chairs. Those little details make a big difference. We stopped by for their weekday AYCE special at just $15 per adult, which is an incredible value! My plate always ends up looking the same because I can't resist the chicken biryani, palak paneer, and that rich, creamy butter chicken. Oh, and they mostly use chicken thighs! So tender and moist! I keep telling myself I'll try something different... then I walk back with the exact same favorites. No regrets. We also ordered the mango lassi, and it was fantastic! Just a little tip: it comes with ice by default, so if you prefer it without ice, just let them know when ordering. The food quality has been consistently excellent every time we've visited, and the service has always been warm and attentive. Another thing I enjoy is how peaceful the dining room is. It's not loud or chaotic. Everyone seems completely focused on the important business of enjoying their food. A couple of helpful tips: the buffet is dine-in only, so you can't pack up buffet food to take home. If you're ordering takeout, you'll need to order from the regular menu instead. They also offer children's pricing for the buffet, so if you're unsure about the details, just give them a quick call. If you're craving great Indian food without emptying your wallet, Diwan continues to be one of my favorite AYCE spots. Highly recommended!

Fresh puri and plenty of sauces, fresh rice and a very nice spread of Indian favorites. I really enjoyed everything they had to offer and especially the vegetarian options such as dhal and paneer. Great service and the only caveat is that any naan is purchased separately as it's not included in the ayce price. You can also just order fresh plates of any combination off their à la carte menu. We opted for the lunch buffet and were very satisfied and both price point and quality were excellent. The restaurant itself is nice with great ambiance and plenty of seating. There's also plenty of beverage options. We've been back twice already and anticipate many more visits.

We went because we got a recommendation from one of our friends, and it was a successful dinner. The appetizer dishes were VERY spicy for someone who's not good at handling spices like me. My favorite dishes were Palak Paneer (my all time fav) + Onion Dosa. It was my first time having dosa, and it was amazing! Inside the store was very spacious, and felt way less Americanized (or very little) compared to other places, which I enjoyed. Their Rava Dosa is usually crispy and packed with flavor. The gunpowder one is yummy! The Khadai Paneer Masala is also usually super yummy, and we love the tomato creamy base that is paired with the paneer--a different alternative when we aren't craving Palak Paneer. Of course, have to wash it down with a Mango Lassi. Of note, sometimes the service is a little spotty and it can be a bit difficult to flag a waiter down/have the food come to the table within a reasonable time during some visits, but during other visits, everything will be spot on. Regardless, great for a casual date night or for groups! What we typically order: - Khadai Paneer Masala or Palak Paneer - One of the Rava Dosas (can't go wrong with any) - Samosas - Mango Lassi

It's also great that they offer zabiha halal options, which makes it more accessible and comfortable to order from. The food itself is where they shine. The biryani is especially good--aromatic, fresh, and well-layered in flavor. The haleem is rich, hearty, and very satisfying, and dishes like the keema luqmi also feel freshly made and thoughtfully prepared. You can tell there's real effort behind the savory items. That said, the menu feels a bit unfocused now. With the addition of things like Chinese dishes and smoothies, it starts to feel a little scattered instead of staying true to its Hyderabadi identity, which is a bit confusing as a customer. The decor is very modern and clean, but it doesn't really reflect the cultural richness of the cuisine--something more traditional like places such as Sunshine Restaurant would've suited it better. On the downside, the desserts were also not a hit for me--they leaned too sweet and didn't feel as balanced as the savory dishes.
