Their masala chai is sooooooooooooo goooooooooooooood!!!! Mango lassi is also amazing, I can drink a gallon of that. Mangalore shrimp curry was ok, but they do give you a lot of shrimp! Mutton biryani was tasty. Definitely get the rasmalai for dessert.

    A whole baked pomfret!
    Cher Y.

The baked pomfret is fabulous 5 stars. Masala chicken: 3 stars. The sauce is lighter which in a way is healthier. Tandoori mixed platter: 4 stars. Very light no buttery sauce dripping all over and quite healthy. I would say it beats those I had in London. Garlic naan: 5 stars. Not greasy n flavorful. Gulab Jamun: my son reviewed as screamingly sweet!!!! He did not enjoyed it but yes he finished both. lol. The boss lady Rosa is very nice. She has this Good-luck face structure per Asian culture. She recommended her goat dish for my next visit. Our busboy was a very very humble young guy with great care. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is very homey. We truly enjoyed our dining experience today.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only thing it was annoying would be the background music. It got to be their bass was not a quality one. So the music played had very heavy beats.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Otherwise Indian music is rather beautiful!

    Chicken Dum Biryani
    Mengya L.

As a person who is constantly spoiled by my Indian friends with great homemade food, I find this place being ok. We got chicken dum biryani, sambhar and egg dosa to go. The egg dosa has one tiny egg in the middle, probably due to inflation. The sambhar was full of potato paste at the bottom. The biryani lacks some flavor, probably less spices and cooking time. Maybe will go back in the future to try other food there but wasn't impressed. The parking lot can be packed behind the restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]And inside is also almost full on a Thursday evening.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Egg Kothu Parotta

Don't be fooled by my messy photos (I only realized half way through the meal that I didn't capture anything); this was some of the best Indian food I've had in a while. It's simple, authentic South Indian that absolutely hits the spot. We tried the Tasmac omlet, chilli paneer, chicken 65, egg kothu parotta, egg fried rice, and filter coffee. Everything was absolutely delicious! Some standouts for me was the super crispy and flavorful chilli paneer and the scrumptious, think and chewy egg kothu parotta. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place feels like an unpretentious mom and pop shop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was quick and very friendly. This was such a solidly good, down to earth, wholesome meal. I can't wait to come back!

Best Indian food I've had!! My party and I stopped here around 8pm for dinner and waited maybe 10 min before we were seated. Ordered a bunch of items from the chicken tikka masala, dosa, samosa chaat, paratha, tea, chole but my favourite is definitely the dosa. Usually not a fan but it's so soft and melts in your mouth. I also expected them to break apart but they surprisingly didn't. Service was spectacular. They're a family restaurant and treats you like it. Parking is kinda weird.. you have to park around the deli by going past the restaurant and making a left because if not, your car could get towed..

Delicious Indian diner. Always packed with aunties so you know it must be good. They have the best crispiest dosas... Well worth the trip. Jackson Heights has nothing this good.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is very intimate, with most of the restaurant within one room, and the decorations make it feel almost homey.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service is amazing, offered suggestions as well as answered questions about the food. The most important part however is the food, it is amazing. I get my food at home from someone straight from India and the food was almost if not as good as the place back home. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall amazing food, great service, and quaint restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My only complaint? My stomach has a limit…read more My family and I have been coming to Diwan for years, and this is hands down our go-to spot for Indian all-you-can-eat. I used to frequent the Indian buffets in Jackson Heights, and honestly, Diwan is just as good, if not better! One thing I really appreciate is that they have their own parking lot, the dining room is spacious, and as a parent, I was thrilled to see they have baby high chairs. Those little details make a big difference. We stopped by for their weekday AYCE special at just $15 per adult, which is an incredible value! My plate always ends up looking the same because I can't resist the chicken biryani, palak paneer, and that rich, creamy butter chicken. Oh, and they mostly use chicken thighs! So tender and moist! I keep telling myself I'll try something different... then I walk back with the exact same favorites. No regrets. We also ordered the mango lassi, and it was fantastic! Just a little tip: it comes with ice by default, so if you prefer it without ice, just let them know when ordering. The food quality has been consistently excellent every time we've visited, and the service has always been warm and attentive. Another thing I enjoy is how peaceful the dining room is. It's not loud or chaotic. Everyone seems completely focused on the important business of enjoying their food. A couple of helpful tips: the buffet is dine-in only, so you can't pack up buffet food to take home. If you're ordering takeout, you'll need to order from the regular menu instead. They also offer children's pricing for the buffet, so if you're unsure about the details, just give them a quick call. If you're craving great Indian food without emptying your wallet, Diwan continues to be one of my favorite AYCE spots. Highly recommended!

Fresh puri and plenty of sauces, fresh rice and a very nice spread of Indian favorites. I really enjoyed everything they had to offer and especially the vegetarian options such as dhal and paneer. Great service and the only caveat is that any naan is purchased separately as it's not included in the ayce price. You can also just order fresh plates of any combination off their à la carte menu. We opted for the lunch buffet and were very satisfied and both price point and quality were excellent. The restaurant itself is nice with great ambiance and plenty of seating. There's also plenty of beverage options. We've been back twice already and anticipate many more visits.

We went because we got a recommendation from one of our friends, and it was a successful dinner. The appetizer dishes were VERY spicy for someone who's not good at handling spices like me. My favorite dishes were Palak Paneer (my all time fav) + Onion Dosa. It was my first time having dosa, and it was amazing! Their Rava Dosa is usually crispy and packed with flavor. The gunpowder one is yummy! The Khadai Paneer Masala is also usually super yummy, and we love the tomato creamy base that is paired with the paneer--a different alternative when we aren't craving Palak Paneer. Of course, have to wash it down with a Mango Lassi. Of note, sometimes the service is a little spotty and it can be a bit difficult to flag a waiter down/have the food come to the table within a reasonable time during some visits, but during other visits, everything will be spot on. Regardless, great for a casual date night or for groups! What we typically order: - Khadai Paneer Masala or Palak Paneer - One of the Rava Dosas (can't go wrong with any) - Samosas - Mango Lassi

It's also great that they offer zabiha halal options, which makes it more accessible and comfortable to order from. The food itself is where they shine. The biryani is especially good--aromatic, fresh, and well-layered in flavor. The haleem is rich, hearty, and very satisfying, and dishes like the keema luqmi also feel freshly made and thoughtfully prepared. You can tell there's real effort behind the savory items. That said, the menu feels a bit unfocused now. With the addition of things like Chinese dishes and smoothies, it starts to feel a little scattered instead of staying true to its Hyderabadi identity, which is a bit confusing as a customer. The decor is very modern and clean, but it doesn't really reflect the cultural richness of the cuisine--something more traditional like places such as Sunshine Restaurant would've suited it better. On the downside, the desserts were also not a hit for me--they leaned too sweet and didn't feel as balanced as the savory dishes.
