I've done takeout from this restaurant twice and loved all of the food we ordered. We tried new things occasionally and they were phenomenal. The spiciness is perfect and doesn't overpower the dish. When I ordered for people who couldn't handle the heat their mild prepared dishes were equally tasty. The baked pomfret is fabulous 5 stars. Masala chicken: 3 stars. The sauce is lighter which in a way is healthier. Tandoori mixed platter: 4 stars. As a person who is constantly spoiled by my Indian friends with great homemade food, I find this place being ok. We got chicken dum biryani, sambhar and egg dosa to go. The egg dosa has one tiny egg in the middle, probably due to inflation. The sambhar was full of potato paste at the bottom. The biryani lacks some flavor, probably less spices and cooking time. Ordered a bunch of items from the chicken tikka masala, dosa, samosa chaat, paratha, tea, chole but my favourite is definitely the dosa. Usually not a fan but it's so soft and melts in your mouth. No toning down on spices (although you can specify the spice level for them to adjust), no master gravy for all dishes to taste the same. Absolutely love their meen pollichathu (fish in banana leaf). This is the best Indian fish prep you can get in Long Island, maybe nyc as well. Chicken 65 is an all time favorite here. Raju gari kodi vepudu (chicken dish) is also very tasty and spice lovers will like it. The biriyani quality and quantity both are great.Chicken badnam kurma is recommended for those who don't like spicy, it is an absolute delight. Dosas are good I will say, not exceptional. We had the tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, samosa and naan. The chicken tikka was so good! It had a nice spice to it was tender and ridiculous. The tandoori chicken was great, my 2 year old loved it! The chicken samosa and the regular samosa was also delicious. Crispy on the outside, soft and spicy on the inside. So good! I decided to check out the new Indian restaurant by Hicksville LIRR. They seem to have a pretty decent crowd on Friday nights and I see people picking up their takeout orders from time to time. My husband and I ordered the Garlic Naan, Chicken Tikka Masala (mild), and Chicken Dum Biryani (mild). The Garlic Naan was more like a thin flatbread than the thick dough that I'm used to. I would have ordered two instead of one since it wasn't very filling and I shared with my husband. The Chicken Tikka Masala was a little spicier than other restaurants but it tasted great, especially the sauce. The Chicken Dum Biryani was too spicy for me. I'm not sure if they can do no spice as I requested it over the phone but received mild instead. The yogurt sauce is a good buffer to make the biryani more enjoyable as it camouflages the spice. I have been having dosa cravings for month and my friends and I finally pulled the trigger and decided to trek out to Hicksville and try this spot. And it was worth it! We were a bit skeptical when we came since the spot was almost empty when we arrived (but upon reflection, we showed up at ~6:30p which is far too early for an Indian crowd to come to dinner and the place was packed by the time we left). Service was great when we got there since there were so few others. My friends and I came with large appetites and we tried some Idili plus sambar to begin. They did not have the fried Idili option (with curry leaves and spices which is my favorite way to have these, but the idili were good and the sambar was well flavored). For mains, we ordered a Andhra mutton curry dish plus paratha (and I was surprised how much my friends who have not tried goat meat liked it... AND were sucking out the marrow from the bones), a masala dosa, and the Pondicherry dosa (which I advised against because the dosa can get soggy but was not that bad if eaten immediately). We also got lassi's to round out all the desi food cravings. My one complaint is not every dish was piping hot, but we ate well and affordably and had a great time.
