You can 100% tell the veggies are not fresh. My server gave the entire filled table their salad and forgot mine. She said she was "finna bring another one" never came.. The ginger dressing on the salad is always my favorite and the lettuce was browning so I didn't even bother to ask my server to bring my salad. We had a reservation and still ended up waiting an HOUR. It took forever for the food to come out and what seemed like even longer for chef to come out. When asking our waitress about how long it would take she walked away with annoyance and shaking her head. We weren't being rude about it just simply asking if she knew when the chef would be coming out and we got treated like this. The pieces were cut like a 9 yo would cut it , just thick cubes with pieces of skin still attached. There was 9 pieces (50$ just to remind you) THERE WERE BONES IN IT - on every second piece!!!! Now I am scared that this is not a sushi grade salmon and we might get sick because of it! I never ever had such a bad experience in such short time, even if it's a backyard sushi place of a complete amateur cook (not even saying a chef) it will be much much better. Drinks were watered down, We had 6:30 reservation didn't get seated until 8:30. There were 3 of us. We had 2 drinks each, 3 dinners, bill was over $300. He diced up the 3 shrimp appetizer into little pieces (Not how it's done) and forgot to get mushrooms for the vegetables that go with the onions and zucchini that goes with the Chicken dinner. It was almost 9:00 before the meal was prepared for 4 people total. The $6 upcharge for fried rice is robbery and basically everything is overpriced. I ordered the chicken and steak combination, and, OMG, it was as good as always. My only complaint was wanting more! Ordering online was easy. Our experience likely the worst I've had at any restaurant, any price, anywhere. We were greeted with a 20 minute wait past our reservation time. Once we were seated, the row of seats had an outside flow of air from the 20 degree outside weather - even with coats on, hands were going numb and we had to ask to move, to which we were told that "yeah, lots of people complain about that, another group did and we moved them earlier". We didn't get drinks (not even water) or a soup for an hour after that. It took another 40 minutes for the salad to come out. This is at a 7:45 "late dinner" reservation, so we were approaching 10PM before we even saw our food come out. Two hours after we got there, our chef came to the table, but then had to leave to take care of the order for our shellfish-allergic son - for 20 minutes, then came back without the food. He did OK and the food was tasty, but we didn't get any mushrooms with the veggies and it wasn't much fun after the 2.5 hour wait to start. We spent the entire last hour of the experience with empty drinks (not even water) since our waiter stopped coming back. My son didn't get his food until after our bill was given to us and we were all finished eating. The women's bathroom was flooded, so both were sharing the men's room. A planned fun night out for our daughters birthday turned into a 3.5 hour hostage situation. I can't recommend this to anyone. I can excuse this for a cheap but tasty meal, but these are premium prices. Food is excellent. We have been here several times over the year for holidays. We went Christmas Day and had reservations for 11:00 am. Staff didn't come in until about 11:05 to 11:10. Around 11:15 I asked the lady at the desk if they were moving our reservation to 11:30 because they wanted to wait on some other people that made reservations later or something. She said they were running behind and our table was ready. We still waited at the table for another ten minutes. However, our chef and waiter had always been awesome. I have noticed some staff are not as outgoing and looks like they don't want to be there but who knows what they may be going through. All in all it is a great place and we like it. Once we were seated we waited 30 mins for the server to take our order and it took another 30 minutes to get our salad and soup. The excuse the server and manager gave us was "one of our chefs that was preparing the food, went home sick and we are now down a person." which left me speechless. One person From our table left after waiting 2 hours with no food and while two other tables had people get up and leave. When we finally had our good prepared, it was good but, the whole experience prevent us from truly being able to enjoy the food. I was a little concerned after reading the reviews, but it was my birthday and I wanted Hibachi! We had a wonderful experience at Benihana. Promptly seated and served by the lovely and efficient Clara. Enjoyed our beer, a beautiful salad and soup. Joshua was our chef, and he did a fantastic job. We had colossal shrimp and filet mignon-perfectly cooked. Ended with green tea ice cream. From our time of arrival (4 pm) until we left was 1 hour and 15 minutes. Perfect! Food - 2.5 stars - It was OK, but certainly not the best. I felt like our chef might have been new. Ambiance - 3 stars - Lots of Hibachi tables and the place is loud. You will know what's going on at neighboring tables, whether you want to or not. :) Value - 2 stars - Compared to Fuji house (as an example) Benihana is 20 - 25% higher and the value isn't there. Service - 3 stars - Our servers did an OK job. They transitioned from one to another during the meal, but I guess the first server had somewhere to go. Our chef was not chatty and didn't do a lot of the typical table antics, but that was OK. I can take it or leave it. I won't say Benihana is bad. I have previously given good reviews for this location but this particular experience was bad. Our server was new and prepared the food out of sequence and we had to instruct him on how to season. But that would have gone overlooked had the service been good. I was celebrating my birthday and shared that with our server on two occasions. The other ladies who were dining at our table, acknowledged my birthday but the cook said the waitress never mentioned it. The manager said the same. To add insult to injury, Benihana does not post their prices online and directed us to use the scanner app. No one's at the table worked, so I went by prices posted on another website online. When I received my bill, I had been charged $17.95 to add a salmon filet to my meal. No rice, no vegetables, Just one 5oz. piece of salmon. In the past, I have only been charged $8. The Chicken Fried Rice upgrade is $5.95 versus the $3.50 it once was and the Chicken Hibachi is $27 versus $22 it once was. While I expect some increase due to COVID, I do feel like the increases are excessive and the restaurant intentionally lacks transparency of pricing. After this experience, I am on the fence on whether or not to return. I am giving two stars because the food was good and our cook really tried. I'm not sure what they're experiencing though since they have a bunch of mini air conditioners scattered throughout the restaurant. Ended up ordering a strawberry lemon drop that was okay. The meals are overpriced. Steak and few shrimp was 31, chicken and steak 28. Portions were small. My steak came with pieces of fat. Mini scoop of dessert. My wife's green tea ice cream had hard junk in the middle. She sent it back. My wife came home and felt sick. The food prepation was in a poor order. Fried rice was good for 4.10.
