Do not waste your time. I made a reservation a month ago to take our two grandchildren to this place for dinner. When we arrived (10 min. early) we were told there would be a 45 min. wait due to a lack of staff. The hostess (Hanna) was surly and dismissive. When we were finally seated, 35 min. after our scheduled reservation it took another 25 min. to receive a glass of water. Our waitress (Riveria) and chef (Freddie) were fantastic. The blame is solely on the mgmt. of Benihana for overbooking reservations. It took three (3) hours from the time we walked in until I paid the check and left. Can not even give 1 star! Arrived for a 6 pm reservation and several workers were standing in parking lot smoking pot and couldn't move for us to park. Next waited for 30 minutes to even get a drink order from the waitress who obviously was so stoned she couldn't get our drink order right and forgot our soups or dessert for 5 course meal...2 hours later chef shows up to cook our meal and to say it was the most underwhelming experience we've ever had there. The bathrooms were awful, no toilet paper on rolls but all over the floors and soap dispenser was removed from wall and sitting on sink, at least there was soap cause it was horrendous! And of course as we left to the parking lot workers outside getting high! No wonder no one cares about their job, they are to worried about getting high!! Don't waist your $$ here! read more

Not sure where to begin. Dropped by here for dinner with our family and we were seated in the sushi bar. This was fine since we were just getting sushi and salads. The atmosphere is modern and spacious. Sure do miss the old building and its classic Japanese architecture. Our server was pleasant and appeared to be the only one working the area. We ordered our salads and they were delivered quickly. Salads were good, no complaints. Ordered 5 rolls for the table, took considerable time for them to arrive. The tuna roll had so much tendon in the fish, it was inedible, Had to send it back. The replacement had a sour taste and we couldn't eat it either. The other five rolls were extremely low end, quality wise. Huge quantity of rice and no filling at all. These were specialty rolls priced in the $15-18 dollar range. This is unacceptable. Better sushi is available down the street at Exxon. I would not recommend this place, poor quality and overpriced. Gone are the days of great sushi at Benihana Memphis. read more

I usually love this style dining, my recent experience was not great. The chef did not do any flare, in fact it seemed like he had just recently learned how to hold a knife. It took forever to get drinks, and two of the people at the table never got the white rice they ordered. The waitress presented the bill on an electronic tablet which did not show that there was a 20% gratuity already included. Once you swiped the card and printed out the receipt the included gratuity showed up, so they got double tipped ($30 + $30) for a lousy experience. I went here for a group lunch and was expecting to be out in an hour. We received very little service and did not get drinks for an hour, even though the restaurant was not very busy. The chef finally arrived after an hour in. The food was delicious and the chef was friendly, but our group ended up staying for two hours. So today being May 5, 2018 also Cinco de Mayo today is also national children's day is celebrated today in Japan Benihana sent an email saying that Japan believes in the children and wish them nothing but success and happiness and on today if you bring your child into a Benihana's location your child will receive a sushi treat dessert So I checked the clock and saw saw that it was getting close around lunchtime in that want to head and search for the location which there is only one and it's off of reach lake and immediately hate it that way Upon entering I was greeted by a very nice hostess she gave me a card to me and you a lunch menu and there we can lunch specials this well she also mentioned about the hibachi kids registration and that it will be a great idea to register my child under my profile so when it's his birthday he will receive something exclusive and some sort of discount to dining at Benihana so that was good information to know I ended up ordering the hibachi chicken and it came with my choice of either soup or salad so I selected the salad with the day ginger dressing for beverage I got a hot cup of green tea the chicken hibachi it was very tasty as promised they brought out the sushi treats and gave my little guy a cute little Benihana hat to wear and I thought that was really adorable we enjoyed our visit and we will return again at a later date read more

My daughter and I arrived at 1:30p there was easy parking. Victoria, our server did an outstanding job. We did not have to wait long for our food. Hosea fixed our food in a very classic Benihana style. He was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He was very pleasant . The food was soooo good. The server and another employee sang happy Birthday to my daughter and brought ice cream out for her. We had such a fun time and we will be back. I made a reservation two months in advance for my daughters birthday dinner. When we got to the restaurant we had to wait almost an hour to be seated. Our party of 12 was seated across the restaurant from each other. The staff didn't even try to put us at tables close to each other despite our request AND reservation. After being seated separately, both tables had to wait over an hour for a chef to start cooking. Everyone at both tables orders were wrong and the food was undercooked. Don't order chicken. At one table the chef wasn't in control of the fire and my daughter got hot oil splattered on her arm. The air conditioning in the building wasn't working, everyone was sweating and there was a hole cut in the side of the building for the air to vent out. We would have gone somewhere else, but a party of 12 is impossible to accommodate last minute. We will not be back. read more

However, then the server comes and just shoved a credit card reader in my face. No check no total just a machine. After I paid and tipped I realized something wasn't right in the total then realized gratuity was added in and I ended up tipping like 40%. Worst benihana EVER. We had a reservation and waited over an hour. After being told we were next, they sat three more tables. After waiting extremely patiently we asked when we would be seated... the manager told us there was still another table ahead of us. When we asked what happened, the manager told us they can seat whoever they want ahead of reservations!! Beyond unprofessional, simply rude and I recommend that you avoid this location at all costs. Several team members walked pass as if we were invisible. We finally stopped one and asked if we were being served or should we find another establishment. That was how that service started off and it didn't get much better. We tried again on 3/19/25 around 1:30 for lunch. . We had the exact same experience. This time, after about 15-20 minutes of being ignored, we walked out. I stopped by the host stand on my way out. There were 3 people standing there. They did not acknowledge us, either. I stopped and said hi. One gentleman, who perhaps was a manager, wearing a shirt and tie, said hi. I explained why we were leaving and the nonchalantly received was quite epic. As the old saying goes, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, I should have learned my lesson the 1st time, but wanted to give Benihana a 2nd chance. This is so very unfortunate. Went with my family for an early dinner on Father's Day. The place was dirty, including sticky carpeting at the entrance. Ambiance was semi chaotic. Hibachi ChickenWe were seated 15 mins after our resi time at a hibachi table. The server saw us and said she'd be back to take our order for drinks and food. She was ... 45 mins later! Then the food took an additional 30 mins to even get started. The server delivered our drinks with help from the manager who made a very snippy and unprofessional remark to one of my family members. We saw the server next when she delivered our soups and salads and then an hour later when she returned to give us the check. Really: I'm not trying to pay almost $400 for a meal that involves that kind of service. We won't go back, ever. read more

This star is for the food. The service experience was the worst I've experienced in my 60 yrs of dining out. We had 6:30p reservation for 9... 6 adults, 3 kids under 11. We were seated at a hibachi table right away, and Jeannie, our waitress, took drink orders. We didn't order appetizers because we ordered the five course meals. (Except for two California rolls for the kids which came within 15 mins) We are gathered for my daughter's 50th birthday. We chose Benihana's to make it a fun, interactive experience for the family. Instead we waited 2 hours for our first course.. soup. According to the restaurant manager,There was no lettuce delivery that day, so there was no salad to be served, and no alternative offered. All I asked for was a few more veggies. No one cleaned up the tables .. I moved the soup bowls to a counter to clear up our table. I spoke to the manager, she said she would take some thing off the bill for the delay. we sat there for another 30 to 40 minutes before the chef, artis, came to our table amidst applause! We were all starving. He dazzled us and entertained the kids with his fire and implement handling. So almost 3 hours after we sat down, we were served fried rice, with no silverware!!! Chef had to go back to the kitchen for my tuna, at which point I said cancel it, but he said it was too late. After all were served, my daughter, the birthday girl said she did not get her scallops. Oops, again chef went back in the kitchen and came back with one scallop. Apparently the others were still frozen! The kitchen had this order for three hours... There's no excuse. Bill finally comes .. over $300, less manager discount of $78. Then I notice a charge of $4.50 each for fried rice. I thought rice was included in the 5 course meal (which ended up being 4 courses without salad!) so fried rice shud hv been substituted. My daughters meal with no (one sad) scallop shud hv been heavily discounted, service was shoddy.. no clean up of soup dishes, no silverware, repeat returns to kitchen for missing items, etc. SO taking $78 off the bill was insulting . I understand that when staff don't show up it's out of the managers control but when we showed up for our 6:30 reservation we shud hv been asked I f we were willing to wait 2 hours.. we wud hv said NO.
